Chapter 44: Spring Blossoms
"Is everything set?" May asked.
"Yes, Your Majesty." A civilian answered.
"Great. Keep up the good work." May walked away from the civilian and she continued walking down the main street of Petalburg that leads to the castle.
May stared in awe at all of the beautiful decorations all over the city. There are cherry blossoms everywhere, all over town. And today, May and Drew decided to have a festival to celebrate life, love, and happiness. That's what cherry blossoms represent. It's Spring, the pink cherry blossoms are in the trees, and the townspeople are the ones who have decided to set up the city for the festival. And of course, May and Drew couldn't refuse their offer to help.
May stopped in the middle of the street. She breathed in the sight of the falling cherry blossoms from the trees.
Drew walked up right next to her. "It's pretty amazing that the people actually wanted to set up this festival."
May smiled and looked at Drew. "It sure is. I guess they wanted to pay us for all of the things we do for them that they all decided to help out."
Drew smiled at May. "It's what this festival is all about." He faced forward. "Friendship and love."
"Yeah…"
They both stared at the citizens hanging up banners and decorating their homes with cherry blossoms. What a wonderful sight to see everyone working together.
"Speaking of love…" Drew said, looking at May. "How does a romantic ride through a cherry blossom forest sound to you?"
May smiled at Drew. "I'd love to."
May and Drew are riding on their Rapidash out of the city.
May exhaled. "I love cherry blossoms…"
"They're pretty." Drew said.
They entered the forest that leads to the secret flower field. "They really are. And I just love how cherry blossoms represent love and happiness. Reminds me of us." She glanced at Drew.
Drew smiled at May. "That's why we had the idea of hosting a festival in the first place. The many couples, or just friends, can celebrate the love they have for each other. It's like a second Valentine's Day."
"Yeah." May agreed.
They both faced forward. It stayed silent the next minute before Drew spoke. "So, that special moment we shared the other day...was good?"
May blushed because she knows exactly what he's talking about. "Umm...y-yeah…" she answered. "It was nice."
Drew smirked. "I'm glad you liked it."
May made her blush disappear and she smiled. "I'll race ya." She double tapped her foot on Rapidash's side, telling her to run.
Drew chuckled. "Well, no way am I losing to her again. What do you say, Rapidash?"
His Rapidash neighed in agreement.
"Then let's go!" Drew made his Rapidash run after May's.
Drew soon caught up to May, running next to her.
May glanced at Drew. "Remember, you can never beat the teacher!"
Drew smirked. "We'll see."
They both sped up. Their hair blew back in the wind, the trees and greenery flew past them, and they eventually made it really deep into the forest. They entered the secret flower field with May just ahead of Drew.
"Woohoo!" May cheered. Both Rapidash stopped. "I beat you, Drew!"
Drew smiled. "Still as fast as ever. Good job."
"Thanks!"
May and Drew both jumped off of their Rapidash. They stood in the flower field with cherry blossoms flying everywhere.
May faced Drew. "About that day when...you know...you seduced me…"
Drew faced May.
"Did you like it too?" May asked shyly.
Drew smiled. "I think if I didn't like it, I would've stopped before we got serious."
May giggled. "That's probably true…"
"And also...I love spending every moment with you. There's nothing that you could do that I'd hate."
May blushed slightly, smiling.
(This song is "Kissin U" by Miranda Cosgrove.)
"Sparks fly, it's like electricity." May sang. "I might die when I forget how to breathe. You get closer and there's nowhere in this world I'd rather be." Drew brushed May's cheek. "Time stops like everything around me. It's frozen and nothing matters, but these few moments when you open my mind to things I've never seen."
May took Drew's hand off of her cheek and she used it to twirl into him. "Cause when I'm kissing you my senses come alive. Almost like the puzzle piece I've been trying to find." Drew twirled May away from him, taking her other hand. "Falls right into place, you're all that it takes. My doubts fade away when I'm kissing you."
May slipped her hands out of Drew's. She turned around to start walking through the flower field with Drew next to her. "When I'm kissing you it all starts making sense." May continued. "And all the questions I've been asking in my head. Like are you the one? Should I really trust? Crystal clear it becomes when I'm kissing you."
May stopped and Drew stood in front of her. They stared into each other's eyes. "True love is all I've wanted this far." May sang. "Walls up, made sure I guarded my heart. And I promised I wouldn't do this 'til I knew it was right for me. But no one, no guy that I met before. Could make me feel so right and secure. And have you noticed I lose my focus?" She sang as she raised her hand to hold the back of Drew's head. "And the world around me disappears."
May lowered her hand to hold Drew's. "Cause when I'm kissing you my senses come alive. Almost like the puzzle piece I've been trying to find. Falls right into place, you're all that it takes. My doubts fade away when I'm kissing you." May smiled brightly and started walking backwards, pulling Drew forward with her.
"When I'm kissing you it all starts making sense." She continued. "And all the questions I've been asking in my head. Like are you the one? Should I really trust? Crystal clear it becomes when I'm kissing you." May tripped and fell backwards on her back with Drew holding himself over her. Thankfully, the flowers broke her fall.
May ran both of her hands through Drew's hair as she continued. "I've never felt nothing like this. You're making me open up. No point even trying to fight this. It kinda feels like it's love."
May flipped them over, so that she's now on top of Drew. She smiled down at him. "Cause when I'm kissing you my senses come alive. Almost like the puzzle piece I've been trying to find. Falls right into place, you're all that it takes. My doubts fade away when I'm kissing you."
May crawled off of Drew, sitting on her knees. Drew sat up. May sat down next to him and placed her hand over his. "When I'm kissing you it all starts making sense." She continued. "And all the questions I've been asking in my head. Like are you the one? Should I really trust? Crystal clear it becomes when I'm kissing you." She finished the song.
After a moment of silence, Drew spoke. "I'm impressed. You didn't seem to freeze up when I was over you."
May blushed and looked down shyly. She giggled nervously. "Well...I guess I've finally gotten my feelings under control."
Drew laid down on his back with his hands under his head. "That's too bad. I really like how nervous you used to be around me." He glanced at May. "It was cute."
May's blush deepened. "W-well...I'm still definitely nervous when I hear compliments like that from you."
Drew smiled. "Good. I don't want you changing too fast on me." He looked up at the sky.
May smiled. "And the same goes for you."
"There won't be any problems with that."
Silence fell. May decided to lay down next to Drew to stare up at the clouds. It's so peaceful. Cherry blossoms are falling from the trees and flying in the wind.
May exhaled. "So peaceful…"
"Sure is…" Drew agreed.
After a moment of silence, May sat up. "I have an idea!"
"Lay it on me."
May looked at Drew. "You're gonna have to wait to find out!" She said, giggling.
Drew looked at May in confusion. Without saying anything, he just looked back up at the sky.
May stood up and walked to where she saw both Rapidash walking around. "Hey, guys. Can you both help me with making something for Drew?" She whispered, so Drew doesn't hear her.
Both Rapidash neighed in agreement.
"Okay then...gather up the prettiest flowers you can find."
~~~ 10 minutes later ~~~
Drew decided to get up because he hasn't seen May in awhile. He stood up, looking around. His eyes landed on May with her back turned to him and both Rapidash are in front of her. Drew started walking towards them, wondering what they've been up to for the last 10 minutes.
"May." Drew said once he stood behind her.
May jumped a little at the voice and she quickly turned around with her hands behind her back. "Oh! Hey, Drew!"
"Whatcha been up to?"
"Well...we were making a present for you."
"A present?"
May nodded and pulled out a flower crown from behind her back, placing it on Drew's head, surrounding his King crown. May giggled at Drew.
Drew reached up and felt the flower crown that's full of roses, daisies, tulips, azaleas, and lilies.
"Like it?" May said, giggling. "You look so pretty!"
Drew lowered his hand and gave May a sceptical look. "Really, May?"
"What…? You don't like it?"
Drew sighed. "It's just...too girly."
May giggled once more. "I think it really suits you. And besides...everyone loves flowers."
"True. But still...you made me a flower crown?"
May laughed. "Don't worry. No one will see you wearing that besides me."
Ring ring ring.
"Oh. Someone's calling me." May said, reaching in Drew's Rapidash's saddle bag and pulling out her phone.
Ring ring ring.
May answered the call. "Hi, Kiara."
"May, where are you and Drew?" Kiara asked.
"Oh. We're at the secret flower field, enjoying the weather and Spring."
"Aww...that's cute." Kiara said. "But enough of that. It's almost time for the festival to begin. You two need to come back now."
"Okay. We're on our way." May hung up. She looked at Drew. "We need to go back."
"Festival time?" Drew asked.
May nodded. "Festival time."
Drew and May climbed onto their Rapidash. Drew reached up and took the flower crown off of his head, placing it on May's.
May looked at Drew for an explanation as to why he took it off.
"It's way more prettier on you." Drew said. May blushed. "It brings out your perfect brunette hair."
May smiled and faced forward.
Drew faced forward. "Ready? Let's ride."
Both Rapidash started running on their trainers' commands. They ran down the dirt path of the forest, all the way until the end. May and Drew ended up back at the castle to start the festival, and everyone, friends and couples alike, enjoyed the romantic and friendly festival for the rest of the day.
