Chapter 4: Bridging the gap [part 5]
Byakuya read Rukia's death sentence, while she is behind bars, separating her to him.
Despite his urge to once again protect her.
He must not.
He can not.
Without sacrificing the power of the Kuchiki clan as one of 4 greatest ruling noble clans in Soul Society.
Without tarnishing his authority as captain of squad 6, Gotei 13, whose duty is to protect soul society from any type of harm.
And thus he can not let personal matters hinder the law that had enable their society to function for thousand of years.
He just can't.
For there are things more important than trivial things such as emotions.
The peace and safety of the people of Soul Society.
Rukia's crime might appear to be small and understandable, but if everyone disobey the law just because of their whim, the society will not be able to stand as strong community, and when the real enemy arrives, they will surely, won't be able to survive as one society, without the law obligating it's citizens to work together.
If Rukia's crime, were just because of Missing out of Duty, he would be able to acquit her.
But this crime…
He can't….
He should not.
Forgive me, Hisana. I can no longer protect your sister.
