Hey y'all! Welcome back to 50 Nobleshipping Drabbles! Had to do a bit of research for this chapter, though I'm still not sure if I'm going to get everything right. I really wanted to get it right, but as I'm not familiar with German traditions or customs I may not have gotten everything 100%. If I have any German readers for this story, please let me know if I messed anything up and if there's anything I missed.
Disclaimer: Yu-Gi-Oh and all of it's characters belong to Takahashi Kazuki-sama. I only own the prompts and the one-shots.
Prompt #44: Tradition. Rating: K
"Zigfried… what is all this?" asked Critias, looking around the room in shock. There was a couple of boxes of evergreen garland, paper ribbons and about a dozen boxes of painted and decorated eggs. Zigfried looked up as he finished decorating the egg in his hand. "Ah, hello liebe! Leon and I are getting ready to take part in Osterbrunnen!" said the aqua-eyed male, grinning. Leon was still busy decorating his own eggs.
"What is 'Osterbrunnen'?" asked Critias, raising an eyebrow. Zigfried chuckled, as the word sounded strange coming from Critias. "Osterbrunnen is a special tradition that started in Franconian Svitzerland and spread to many regions in Germany. Every year, around Easter, ve take evergreen garland, paper ribbons called 'pensala' and many decorated eggs and use zhem to decorate pulic vells and fountains to celebrate zhe renewal of life and honor how important vater is!" he said, grinning.
"Really?" asked the knight, tilting his head. "Yeah! Since we have a large fountain out front we decorate that every year!" said Leon, finishing his eggs. "You should join us in decorating the fountain!" he suggested, placing the finished eggs with the others. Critias thought about it. He had never given thought to German traditions, and he figured it would be nice to learn about them, maybe even teaching Zigfried and Leon some Atlantean traditions later on.
"I guess I could join… it'll be a good way to start learning about German traditions….." he said, smiling. Leon and Zigfried smiled and got up, each grabbing a box. It took a few trips, but the three of them eventually got all of the boxes outside. Leon grabbed the box of garland and he began showing Critias how to properly place the garland on the fountain. Once all of the garland was on the fountain Zigfried showed Critias how to set up the paper ribbons.
"Alright, time for the eggs!" said Leon, smiling. Critias looked at all of the boxes of eggs with wide eyes. Zigfried laughed and shook his head. "Relax liebe, it'll be fun!" he said, smiling. Critias nodded and they slowly begins placing the eggs all over the fountain, creating patterns from the colors. Critias smiled as they worked. He had to admit, it was actually fun to decorate the fountain and he knew the meaning behind it was important. Perhaps he should participate in more traditions after all.
Done! Again, if I got something wrong, please kindly let me know.
Please R&R!
Until next time, Icy is out!
