The moment those demons barged into the room and shoved Mei-Ling onto the floor, Kagome stood up from the vanity. It happened too quickly for her to comprehend, and the next thing she knew, she was apprehended by two of the guards. Guards who towered two heads higher than her.
"H-hey! Let me go! What do you think you're doing?!"
"My lady!" Mei-Ling cried, moving to shove the demons aside. "Unhand her this instant! How dare you enter the Northern Palace!" Her attempts to pry them off her were futile, and she was rewarded with another shove, this one knocking her into a vase of orchids. The beautiful porcelain shattered upon impact, the shards dancing around the room.
At the sight of her new friend thrown to the floor, Kagome yelled at the guards. "Why did you push her?! Why are you doing this?! What do you want?!" But she was rewarded with a blade under her chin by a canine guard.
"We are under strict order to bring the human to the Empress! Any sign of resistance will be met with punishment!"
At the threat, Kagome swallowed. Meet with the Empress? As in… Sesshomaru's mother? Oh boy… She didn't like where this was going, and recalling the conversation with Mei-Ling moments ago, she blanched. Oh… great…
"My lady!" Mei-Ling cried.
Kagome spared her a glance and swallowed her pride. "F-fine… but I can walk on my—H-hey!" A gasp escaped her when they ignored her and pulled her across the room. "S-stop! Let me go! I can walk on my own! Are you even listening to me?!"
"My lady! My lady!"
And just like that, the guards took her mistress away, and Mei-Ling bit her finger. This was awful… How could the Western Guards rush into the Northern Palace and steal the young lady away? But if it was the Empress who summoned her, then that meant…
Mei-Ling gasped. "Oh no! I have to find his highness! My lady is in danger!"

Author Note:
The Empress resides in the Western Palace. Toga resides in the Eastern Palace with Izayoi. Sesshomaru resides in the Northern Palace in the middle of both mom and dad. Each palace is separated by massive courtyards/bridged ponds/gardens. I will assume that once Inuyasha is older, he might have his own Southern Palace… who knows? A palace for each child! xD Aren't they spoiled?
