Chapter 44
Will's point of view
There was silence between us when the exchange of wedding vows took place during which I felt Louisa's blue eyes stroking my face with a certain longing I myself felt which I suppressed in the deepest corner of my heart. At times, I felt like letting it all out. Then I somehow stopped myself.
After the wedding vows were exchanged, music started. I saw Rupert taking Alicia to the middle portion in the tent; whirling her around in his arms. They were dancing in a very intimate manner. She rested her head in the crook of his neck while they were slowly waltzing.
Louisa's voice caused me to look back at her,
"Let's take a whirl about the place, " she said; holding out her right hand towards me.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked her; raising both my eyebrows.
"Absolutely, " she replied; smiling at me.
That smile had to be one of the most redefining moments of all those times her lips hooked upwards upon looking at me. I just couldn't hold back any longer. So, I extended both my hands towards hers and stood up. I allowed her to loop one of my arms with hers. We walked till we reached an area where there were less amount of people talking and dancing.
She placed her right hand against my chest and looked at me for a moment. I wrapped my right arm around her tiny waist and pulled her closer till we stood only a couple of inches separating us. There was an alien form of current pulsating between us that was about to jolt me really hard to smell this thick unresolved tension virtually.
We started swaying in a certain rhythm with the music. She seemed a bit experienced in moving her feet till I guided her with my hands; positioning them around her waist and helping her to glide alongside me. I brought my mouth closer to her right ear and murmured,
"Come closer."
"You smell wonderful."
"These fake compliments are not needed, Will Traynor, " she retorted in a playful manner; swaying her body with mine.
"I am being honest, " I replied; swirling her; by sliding my right hand in hers thereby twirling her around in the process.
"You wouldn't even be dancing with me if you were with Alicia or dating one of those blonde girls with endless legs," she argued; standing right before me after being twirled.
"Yes, I would, " I huffed back; getting a bit angry at her words.
"Your single status somehow drove you to bring me to such lavish places, " she said; enclosing her right-hand around mine while dancing.
"Do you know something, Clarke?" I questioned her with a gaze that had the power to melt steel.
"You are the only thing that makes me come back to the Castle at Pembroke residence on Saturdays, " I confessed; bringing my mouth slowly to her right earlobe.
She shivered in response. After a second, she stiffened as if she had grown entirely limp in my arms. It felt to me that time had come to a standstill. I sensed her burying her face in the crook of my neck a bit too forcefully. I felt this bizarre sense of euphoria rushing through my veins to have Louisa in such close proximity. We were both locked in a very intimate embrace that neither of us were willing to break. I could hear the clear hammering of her heart. I heard her drawing in sharp breaths as though she wanted to regulate the beats of her heart. We both knew we were on the very edge of a precipice of letting it all out.
Slowly, she lifted her head to look directly into my eyes. Her blue eyes sparkled with an ardent desire. I touched her shoulders lightly to keep her in position.
"Then, let's go somewhere tonight, " she suggested.
"Just you and me, " she pleaded with those twin pools of blue.
"I want to tell you everything I have felt for you for the past month, Will."
"Okay, " I concurred
Wordlessly, we started walking together out of the tent to a place where both of us could be alone; hidden from this crowd of the wedding. I decided to take her to a hotel just for tonight even though the idea seemed a bit bold.
"How about we stay at a hotel?" I inquired; arching my eyebrows; looking at her,
"That would be alright for me, " Louisa agreed after we got into my car.
We were silent throughout the entire drive. We were at a loss. We kept looking away from each other; hiding our faces like teenagers as if we were caught doing something forbidden. This tension was radically different from the other times. I channeled my attention in driving the car.
We stopped before a bright cheerful motel that just happened to be located on the roadside to our houses. The exterior of the place was decorated with tiny golden LED bulbs. The word "INN" was written in red capital letters.
