Day 8: March 20, 2020
Alice
18:34 PDT
Los Angeles, California
"Is everything ready?" I ask, racing into the kitchen. Emmett and Rose are making dinner for everyone, and they both look up at me with a frown.
"Yeah, of course. We finished his room a while ago." I nod and dip out of the kitchen again. I have a-mile-long mental checklist I'm working off from, and I don't have time to stop and slow down.
"Bella! Is your bathroom clear?" We have two and a half bathrooms in the house; one between my room and Rose's, one between Bella's and what will be Edward's room, and half a bath downstairs. For two weeks, Edward's going to need exclusive access to Bella's bathroom, something she's been bitching about all day.
"Why didn't we think this through?" she shouts where she's grabbing shampoo out of the tub. "I can't share a bathroom with the four of you!" She says as I come up the stairs and head toward the bathroom. I sigh.
"It's only two weeks." I point out.
Bella huffs. "Then have him sanitize after he's done in here."
I roll my eyes. "Bella, it won't be that bad." She huffs as she gathers her things. "Do you need help?" I ask.
"I'm done," she says, shaking her head. She drops some of her things in her room and looks at me. "What time is his flight coming in?"
I glance at my watch. "Around nine."
She nods. "Do your parents know?"
I sigh. "Yeah, we called them about it. They were happy he's coming to the U.S. but upset he's coming here instead of Chicago. I think they get it, but still," I shrug, and Bella nods.
"Soup's on!" Emmett shouts from downstairs. I look at Bella, who nods and motions toward the stairs. I appreciate that all my friends have gone out of their way to accommodate my brother like this. I know it's shitty that I've invited him without checking in with them beforehand, and it truly is a mark of their friendship that they are all willing to drop everything to help him out.
I silently vow to make sure I don't take any of them for granted.
Alice has been in a panic, but I don't think she's meant to be this unaware of how she's been treating her friends. In her heart, I think she really is trying to do the right thing.
Curious to know what you all think of Alice this morning; is she someone you can relate with? Does she irritate you? Do you just not understand her? Let me know!
