Weiss was sitting on an airship heading back to Beacon, arms crossed and looking like the epitome of anger as she glared over to the opposite wall.
Her team was with her and looking between her and the rest of their group, not sure on what to say or even do. They understood just why she would be so upset. They had gone out to a dance club, to get away for a bit and have some fun. And to get her mind off her breakup with Jaune. None of them had expected to see Jaune himself get on stage and sing a song directed at Weiss about just how over her he was. Honestly, they were surprised she was handling it this well.
The airship landed and Weiss immediately got up and strolled out without a word to anyone. Her team quickly following after her but giving her a decent amount of space. They walked for several minutes towards the dorm building before she stopped and turned to them. They all quickly came to stop as she spoke, "I'm going for a walk to cool off. I'll meet you all back in the dorm."
"Are you sure, Weiss?" Ruby asked. "We can come with you if you want."
She rolled her eyes, "I can handle myself and I just want to be left alone."
Ruby opened her mouth but she closed it when Yang placed a hand on her shoulder. "Alright, Weiss. If you need anything, call us. Alright?"
Weiss just nodded before she turned back around and walked briskly away from her team. She walked away from the dorm building and into Beacon proper. She knew exactly where she was going. Somewhere quiet and most likely empty at this hour. She soon closed in on her target: Beacon's gardens. Once she was in and sure no one was there, she finally let her façade drop. Her angry expression left to reveal a pained and sorrow filled one.
She slowly walked through all the flowers and plant life as she just felt energy drain from her. It was just easier to be angry now. To blame Jaune for the pain she was going through. But she knew all too well that she was the one to blame for their breakup and the fallout from it. She was so worried that her father would ruin her relationship, one of the best things that Beacon gave her, that she had tried to change everything she loved about him so her father would approve. Ironic that the fear of her father was what caused her to do exactly that.
Weiss soon saw a bench and sat down. It felt like her legs were going to give out from underneath her. She just sat there and stared off into the distance, remembering the words that her once love had just sang. Was it possible for those words to hurt more than their fight?
Regardless, she decided to fall back on a tried and true method of dealing with pain: singing. She pulled out her scroll and selected a song. Not one of hers but one from a famous Mistralian artist Jaune had shown her. And a song she knew all too well nowadays.
(Play One Last Kiss by Hikaru Utada, Covered by AmaLee.)
She gently placed the scroll on the bench as she let the music wash over her. The emotions and memories of the breakup bubbling to the surface.
My first time to the Louvre
But seeing a masterpiece is nothing new
I've already met a Mona Lisa
Many years ago now I remember
The very first time I had met you
The gears in my heart began to turn like new
But then I felt a dark premonition
You I'd lose
Oh, felt your lips so many times
But once more let me grace yours with mine
Can you give me one last kiss
Cause I don't wanna forget you
No
I will never let this feeling go
I love you more than you'll ever know
Her hand went over her heart as she continued with the next verse.
You say that you don't like taking pictures
But that's okay cause I don't need a photograph
Cause in my heart an image of you lingers
It's reel of film that's burning me with the past
I try to act like I don't miss you
But I know deep down you are lonely too
We both never meant to hurt the other
But we did some things that we can never undo
Oh, can you give me one last kiss
Set a fire with only your lips
There is no forgetting this
Even if I tried can't let it go
I love you more than you'll ever know
I love you more than you'll ever know
I love you more than you'll ever know
She looked up to the night sky as tears slowly trailed down her cheeks. She took a shuddering breath before she could continue.
Oh, in my heart I see it so
When the years have passed and I've grown old
Til the end of time please know
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this feeling go,
I will never let this,
I will never let this,
I will never let this,
I will never let this,
I will never let this,
I will never let this,
I will never let you ever know
She looked back forward as her tears began to fall faster, her voice barely a whisper.
I still remember
That dazzling afternoon
I'm chasing after
The breeze that left too soon
As the music began to slowly play out. Weiss just let her face fall into her hands and she let more of the pain out in quiet sobs. She was so consumed by her breakdown that she didn't notice two figures sit on either side of her. Not until they both hugged her.
She nearly jumped out of her skin before she looked and saw who they were. Ruby was on her left and Blake was on her right, hugging her close. Before she could speak, two more arms wrapped around her and pulled her back so she was leaning against the bench properly. She barely saw the blonde hair in her peripheral before Yang spoke up, gently but filled with care. "We're here for you, Weiss. Just let it out and it will all be alright."
She didn't want to but her heart didn't listen and soon her tears began to fall again. This time in the security and warmth of her team. And she was hoping Yang was right and everything would be alright again in the future. But for now, it wasn't.
A/N- This one came out quick. And to answer the question I'll probably get: Yes, this is a sequel to the very first chapter of this story. It was weird to go back to that first chapter and reread it to get back into that mindset but it was just too perfect to not continue from there with this chapter.
Shoutout to Arue23. They were the ones to suggest this song and the specific cover. After listening to it, I knew I just had to use it and when I found out it was by Hikaru Utada, that just settled it for me to use it for Weiss. This would be the fourth time I used one of her songs to describe Jaune and Weiss' relationship across several of my stories.
Anyways, I hoped you all enjoyed and I'll see you all in the next update!
