Chapter 45: May is Pregnant!

"Congratulations, Your Majesty, you're expecting!" The nurse announced.

May gasped. "Really?" She asked excitedly.

"Mm hm. You're already 3 weeks in."

May smiled brightly. "I can't wait to tell Drew."

"Do you have an idea of how you'll tell him?"

May just stared up at the ceiling with her thinking face on. "Actually...no."

"Well, I'm sure he'll be really happy for you both. You two will be in charge of raising the next Royal of this kingdom. I wish you luck ahead of time."

May looked at the nurse. "Thank you."

"Mm hm. So, I need a way of getting in touch with you. I would feel bad if I have to interrupt your royal duties and things, so...how would you like me to contact you? We'll need to set up appointments, so I can check up on the baby and see how he or she is doing."

"Right." May said. "Umm...well...I want Drew to be the first to hear this news after you of course, so you can't contact anyone other than me. And I actually think I have the perfect time to tell him."

"So what do you wanna do?"

"Hmm...text me, I guess." May answered. "Drew won't suspect anything because it won't be a loud ring. And when you text me anything at all, I'll teleport here, so we could talk."

"Sounds good. When it gets close to your next checkup, I'll text you."

May nodded.

"Okay. Thanks for coming by, Your Majesty. You're free to go now."

"Okay. I'll see you later." May pulled out her scepter and teleported herself to her room. She immediately saw Drew still asleep on their bed. She smiled and walked to the bed, climbing onto it around Drew and sitting on her side against the wall.

May could remember the feeling she had when she woke up only an hour ago. She had woken up, feeling nauseous, and she was vomiting in the toilet. Since she had done her research on babies, she of course researched pregnancy as well, and read what the symptoms are for if you're pregnant. And so she took a pregnancy test after getting one from her parents' bathroom. And it came out positive. So that's when she immediately teleported herself to the infirmary to see if it's true.

And now here we are…

May smiled, staring down at her sleeping husband. ("It'll be a while until I tell you this news, Drew. And I hope that when you hear it, you'll be really happy for us. I think this is what we've both wanted. We told each other that we want to have kids and start a family. And it'll happen.") she reached forward, brushing Drew's bangs out of his face. ("We're going to be parents...And I just hope that you want that for us.")

At that moment, Drew's head turned to the right and May swiftly pulled her hand back. She saw Drew open his eyes halfway and stare at her. "...did you touch my hair?" Drew asked drowsily.

May smiled. "Yes."

"Mmm…" Drew closed his eyes. "...okay then…"

May giggled softly. "I guess I woke up too early, huh?"

"Uh huh…" Drew answered, trying to fall asleep again. "What time is it?"

May checked her phone. "Six." She answered.

"You wake up too early…"

"I know…" May paused before leaning more over Drew and continuing. "Are you going to get more sleep?"

"Yeah...good night…"

May smiled. "Sleep tight." She leaned down and placed a kiss on his forehead.

May quietly scooted down the bed and got off of it. She then left the room, leaving Drew to sleep. May walked to Kiara's room.

"Hey, sis." May greeted, walking towards her. "Why are you up so early?"

Kiara looked up. "Oh. Hi, May. I'm just up because my head didn't want me to sleep any longer." She complained.

May laughed, sitting down next to her on the bed. "Same here." She lied to avoid conversation that might bring up her pregnancy on accident.

"So, what brings you to my room in the first place?" Kiara asked suspiciously.

"What? Can't I just visit my baby sister in the morning?"

Kiara narrowed her eyes at May. "I'm only a year younger than you."

"That means you're a baby."

Kiara sighed. "And also...you usually visit me every week to ask me about Bradley, so…"

May laughed nervously. "I guess you got me."

"I knew it." She said in a singsong tone.

"So...how are you and Bradley doing?" May asked. "Is he treating you how you want to be treated? Is the long distance relationship working? Do you still love him?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Kiara said, stopping May's fast questions. "The answers are great, yes, yes, and of course I do."

After a moment, May squealed. "I'm so glad things are still working out! He hasn't cheated again, right?"

"Not that I know of."

"And...you trust him?"

Kiara blushed slightly. "Actually...yes." She answered shyly. "I actually do. He really puts in a lot of effort to please me. He's sweet."

"Hmm...is he now…?"

"Mm hm. And the long distance relationship isn't a problem because we visit each other really often."

May smiled, hearing from Kiara that she truly still loves Bradley. "That's good. But remember, if you ever feel like he's cheating on you again, he'll be in trouble with me, okay?"

Kiara laughed nervously. "Okay, May…"

May stood up. "Have a good day!" She said before leaving the room.

Drew finally woke up at eight in the morning. He saw May out on the balcony. He got out of bed and started to sneak up on her quietly.

May is watching Meloetta play with the other Pokémon in the field. May is smiling at the sight.

Drew got to May and he swiftly wrapped his arms around her stomach, scaring her. May had jumped a little, but soon adjusted to the scare and glanced behind her at Drew.

"You know I don't like it when you scare me." May said.

"You know you love it…" Drew teased, stepping closer to May with his head next to hers.

May blushed. She nuzzled her head into Drew's neck, placing her hands over Drew's on her stomach. "I love you…" May said.

Drew smirked. "I know." He said cockily.

Drew released May and walked back inside the room. May followed him. She saw him go in the bathroom, closing the door, so she sat down on their bed.

May placed her hand on her stomach. She's thinking about what reaction Drew might have when she tells him that she's pregnant. Will he like the news or not?

May's smile faded. "What if he says that he's not ready?" She asked herself quietly. "He said it some other day, but what if he changed his mind?"

May heard the bathroom door open after two minutes and she looked up. Drew froze when he noticed her.

"Is something wrong?" Drew asked.

May gasped softly when she realized that she was still frowning. She quickly smiled at him. "No. Of course not."

Drew walked to the bed, sitting next to her. "Are you sure?"

"I'm perfectly happy, Drew. See?"

Drew looked at May to see her bright smile. But he could tell from her eyes that it's a fake smile. What's May hiding this time?

Drew smiled. "Good. Now, time for breakfast." May nodded.

Drew decided to just keep the fact that he knows she's faking her smile a secret. He knows that if she's hiding something from him, then she'll eventually tell him. He trusts May to tell him when she feels ready to.

Drew and May had eaten their breakfast that was delivered by maids. Now they're on their Thrones, ready to start their day of rule.

The Throne Room doors opened and Bradley entered, walking to May and Drew.

"Bradley?" Drew questioned.

"I came here on Queen May's request." Bradley said.

Drew looked at May. "Why?"

May glanced at Drew. "Just to...check on things."

"You still do that?"

"Hey. I don't want my sister dating someone who might not love her back."

They both faced forward. "Okay, okay." Drew said. "But I'm sure there's nothing to worry about."

"We'll see." May said. "So Bradley, how are things with you and Kiara?"

"Great." Bradley answered.

"Do you still love her?"

"Of course I do."

"Okay...and do you have plans for a future with her?"

Bradley blushed at that. "Umm...a future meaning...the future Queen of Rose?"

"Mm hm."

"Well...I was thinking about it…"

May and Drew's eyes widened slightly.

"And I think it's almost time." Bradley paused for a moment before continuing. "...I want to marry her."

May gasped. "Really?"

Bradley nodded. "I learned from my mistakes, and there's no other girl in this world that can ever make me as happy as she does. And before you say that I can't propose and marry her, I'll say that it's not up to you. It's up to your parents."

"...he's got a point, you know." Drew said.

"I know, I know." May said. "I was just going to ask if you're absolutely sure that you want to marry her."

"I am." Bradley said. "But are you sure you really don't mind her moving out to live in Rose?"

May froze. "You know…" Drew started. "You shouldn't talk back to a royal of higher status than you."

"Sorry, Your Majesties. I just really love Kiara so much, and I really think it's time that we take our relationship to the next level."

"Well, that's fine by me." Drew said.

May looked at Drew. "You're kidding, right? This was once the guy that tried to kiss me."

"He's changed." Drew looked at May. "And there's no way I'm letting anyone but me kiss you." May blushed and faced forward. Drew smirked, facing forward as well.

"I guess it's fine by me too." May said. "I wish you luck, if my parents say yes as well."

"Thank you, Your Majesties. Can I go talk to them now?"

May nodded. She looked toward a guard. "Show him the way."

"As you wish, Your Majesty." The guard said.

Bradley left the Throne Room with a guard to show him the way to Caroline and Norman's room.

"Hey Drew?" May asked.

"Yeah?"

"If you were to hear about life changing news that will affect your life and mine...in a positive or negative way...what would you say?"

Drew looked at May. Without questioning her question, he just chose to answer it. "If it's a positive impact on our lives, then that's good, right? But a negative one...whatever it is...we can handle it together. It's what we always do."

"But, what if it affects work, the time we spend with each other, and it will be like that for years before we can continue ruling like usual."

"We'll figure it out."

May looked at Drew. "But...what if the one you love tells you important news, and...you hate her for it?"

Drew stayed silent for a moment. "...I'd never hate you for anything, May. I don't know what was with those questions, but the perfect answer to them is that we'll figure them out. There's no problems that we can't solve together."

("This song is "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran.)

"When your legs don't work like they used to before." Drew sang. "And I can't sweep you off of your feet. Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?"

Drew smiled while continuing. "And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70. And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23. And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways. Maybe just the touch of a hand." Drew reached out and took May's hand in his. "Oh, me I fall in love with you every single day. And I just wanna tell you I am." May smiled.

"So honey now." Drew sang. "Take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars. Place your head on my beating heart. I'm thinking out loud. Maybe we found love right where we are."

Drew stood up, still holding May's hand. He stood in front of her. "When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades. And the crowds don't remember my name. When my hands don't play the strings the same way." He sang, slowly kneeling down to one knee. "I know you will still love me the same." Drew placed a kiss on May's hand before standing back up, pulling her up to her feet.

"Cause honey your soul can never grow old, it's evergreen." Drew sang. "Baby your smile's forever in my mind and memory." May blushed. "I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways." He sang, brushing May's cheek with his free hand. "Maybe it's all part of a plan. I'll just keep on making the same mistakes. Hoping that you'll understand."

"But baby now." Drew continued, lowering his hand from her cheek to her other hand. "Take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars." May slipped her hands out of Drew's and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Drew held her waist. "Place your head on my beating heart. I'm thinking out loud. Maybe we found love right where we are."

"So baby now." He sang again. "Take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars. Oh darling, place your head on my beating heart. I'm thinking out loud. That maybe we found love right where we are. Oh baby, we found love right where we are. And we found love right where we are." He finished the song.

Drew pressed his forehead against May's, both of their eyes closed. "Whatever is bothering you," Drew whispered. "I'll wait until you're ready to tell me."

"Thank you…" May whispered back.
