Akaza ran through the forest, his mind scanning the surroundings for a hint of his fellow moon demon's presence. After Rengoku had shouted at him to assist the other slayers and find Enmu, Akaza had switched tactics and ran into the forest. A quick scan of the surroundings and he could see that the God Artemis was well outnumbered and the others would have no problem defeating her.
Akaza picked up his pace, sensing quite a few strong presence in the vicinity to his left. Veering sharply, he narrowed his eyes in anticipation.
What of Enmu?
Akaza clenched his fists as he sped up even more, the forest a blur before him.
I cannot sense his presence Master.
He admitted, a painful burning feeling in his chest.
There was a slight pause, before Muzan responded.
He still lives. Do not let him die alone. Seek him out.
Akaza briefly closed his eyes and nodded, even as Muzan left his mind.
"The moment you dared to go against Lord Muzan and the moon demons, your life is forfeit." He vowed, nearly reaching the clearing where he was certain the other God Apollo was.
A few moments later, Akaza burst into the clear where he came across the two slayers he recognized as Mitsuri and Iguro holding their own quite well.
Seeing the clarity in their eyes and their stance as they attacked Apollo in unison, he raised an eyebrow and paused to assess the situation.
Lord Muzan.
There was a pause before he felt Muzan connect.
The slayers seem…different.
He reported, then thought back to Mika and how she had done something to him. He had woken up more energized than he could recall.
I feel changed as well. I believe it is due to that Mika girl. Almost like a power such as yours, Lord Muzan.
There was a slight pause before Muzan spoke.
Yes, I sensed it when you awoke. Mika is very interesting. She and I will have a chat when you all return.
He emphasized the last part 'all' before leaving without expecting a response.
Akaza felt a corner of his mouth lift into a determined grin. He stretched one shoulder and moved forward.
"He's mine." He announced to the slayers.
Kanae ignored the burning pain all along the left side of her body. She cradled her broken left arm and slowly limped towards Sanemi, who was pinned to a tree a few feet away.
Sanemi.
Her eyes filled with unshed tears but she bit down on her lip to stop herself. She could see that the slayers and Micah were slowly overpowering the God Artemis. Her gaze scanned the area and found Mio and Mika were also safely out of the fighting area.
Reaching Sanemi, she kneeled down and reached out with her uninjured hand, touching the side of his face. Long lashes fanned out over his sharp cheekbones. She could see many more scars on his face than the very last time she had known him.
In her past life.
She repeated to herself, bracing herself against the flood of emotions.
She gave herself a mental shake, knowing the other historians would need her help. She was no longer a slayer. Kanae noticed a change in her friends. Mika seemed to have come into her own power and a brief glance at Mio, Kanae knew the two have found their places.
It was clear for all to see that Mio had eyes only for the other warrior who fought alongside of Micah.
She reached forward and removed the silver arrow that had pierced him in the shoulder, the arrow dissolving underneath her power that glowed a faint purple.
Kanae gently laid him on the ground and glanced at his face, stealing another moment. Brushing his hair away from his face, she leaned forward and placed her lips on his forehead.
"Goodbye."
