At Mossad HQ the current regional security situation was discussed. That being Iran and the Palestinians; as it usually was. Cap: same shit different year. The goal here was to deal with escalating tensions between old rivals that wanted Israel gone from the earth forever. And cap's arrival timing as an angel of god could not be coincidental. And with that timing came a new awareness about what needed to happen. Iran was close to developing nuke tech; and they'd empower their Shia Sunni allies to use it. Terrorism could and had been readily outsourced. It would be that again.
And Israel's procedures for dealing with threats like this were solid and time tested. But now there was a growing collective sense that something more permanent needed to be done. Something more decisive. Cap sensed that in various ways. His angel senses gave him that clarity that few other things could.
Woodward was there to lead a meeting of senior Mossad officers. Sabra sat near cap as this occurred. Eventually everyone's eyes fell to him for implicit leadership to deal with this crisis. He'd sensed that too. But he'd wanted to be respectful. He was a guest here.
"Captain Rogers," said Woodward. "We'd like your invaluable input on the matter."
Cap leaned forward and rested folded hands on the table. Having anticipated this moment with time to spare cap had a good idea of what he'd say. And it would be pretty straightforward.
"We need to destroy Israel's enemies for good this time." Being nomad allowed him this newfound freedom of discourse. He didn't represent America anymore but rather timeless western ideals in general. He was Captain west more in that sense now. They didn't seem too surprised by his stance. Perhaps they'd been fed up for so long but had just needed an opinion from on high to do the hard part; make the call.
And cap was all about making the hard call. That's why the burden of leadership often fell to him. That's why he was history's greatest warrior…
"We had this same problem in America until recently. We had people that didn't wanna be there and that wouldn't leave. And they could. They weren't slaves anymore. It was mostly blacks. It was all the anti Americans that had infested the nation like a plague. They needed removal. Granted, a peaceful way had been found to do that; but then hydra removed them for us. Not preferred I admit but the job was done."
"It's the same here. You have crazies that threaten your life and your very existence. Remove them before they remove you. The only way to beat cancer is to kill it. Thank you."
They spoke among themselves. Woodward adjourned the meeting for the moment. All filed out but cap and sabra.
"You told it like it was Steve. You told them what they needed to hear. It's what I hoped you'd tell them." He nodded. "I sensed that. What happens now?" "Your word still carries great weight with the Jewish nation. Even as nomad." She set a hand to his upper arm. "The pm and Knesset will take your advice to heart."
Cap heard the faint underpinning of aggression to her words. Unlike Americans (until proven recently with the war) Israelis tended to kick ass and get results. Cap had always admired that. He didn't doubt they'd do it again here.
"And as nomad my Spartan shield will fight right beside you." That warmed her heart to hear him say.
