"What's the local population's opinion on being under control of the Turkish government Jess" Eric asked her
"They aren't overly thrilled about the occupation, but they do see it as a positive step forward in the rebuilding of Syria, the Turkish government has helped rebuild a lot of infrastructure in the area that is desperately needed like hospitals, the concern will ultimately be however if the Turkish government will turn the facilities over to the Syrian people when the time comes, or whether it will maintain full control seeing as the area in question is on the borderline of Turkish Syrian border" she said apprising the group of the current geopolitical situation
"Any political unrest" Eric asked, always appreciating Jess's input when it came to these areas
"Not that I'm aware of sir" Jess told her commanding officer
"Anything we need to be aware of politically" he asked finally
"Technically Turkey is still our ally, and we have no idea how they see Al-Asiri, if he is a hero or villain" Jess added to the discussion
"So we can't guarantee their help with this" Clay asked
"No, do we know where he's hiding" Jess asked Davis
"Yes" Lisa said as she brought up the maps and photos
"Well that's something at least" Jason said frustrated
"We're going to need to keep this as quick and low key as possible, and avoid civilian casualties" General Blair said firmly explaining the ROE
"Please tell me we are at least getting some back-up with this" Brock asked hopefully
"MARSOC will be sending a unit to join us, they'll be here in an hour"
"Time for us to role out the red carpet sir" Jason asked looking at Eric
"Got that right" Eric said unsure whether to feel glad his team was receiving backup, or annoyed that it wasn't another DEVGRU team

"Ah, I was unaware you had a female member of staff with you, enlisted female company has no space accommodation at the moment, its okay though Sargent Gonzalez, we'll find you somewhere to stay, in the meantime your boys can use barracks J2, it is cot accommodation but I'm sure you will be fine"
"Where's Blackburn's men sleeping"
"They only have a single barrack with cot accommodation as well" Eric said assuring Russell that his team was not receiving any extra barracks
"Then might I suggest for team bonding purposes, both teams utilise the same barracks, and Sargent Gonzalez bunks in J2"
"What do you think Blackburn"
"It would be a tight squeeze, I don't know how comfortable my team would be sharing the space seeing as they don't know" Eric said slightly taken back by the recommendation
"Are you thinking about Turner" Blair asked sensing Eric's discomfort, he was one of the few that was aware of the details of Jess's past, and he secretly admired Eric and Bravo's efforts to protect her in that regards
"Yes sir" Eric admitted
"Why would one man's discomfort make the difference between"
"Petty Officer Turner is of the opposite gender, she's used to bunking in with the rest of her team for convenience and space restrictions"
"Then put her in with Gonzalez, it's only for a few days, or will I need to make a note in my report about the failure to follow protocol and provide safe and separate accommodation for members of the female sex"
"Okay, I'll talk to Jess and get her to relocate to J2 with Sargent Gonzalez for the duration of this mission" Eric said feeling backed into the corner with the situation
"What do you mean your moving Jess to another barracks sir" Trent asked making no attempt to hide the frustration present in his voice as the rest of the team looked on stunned at the news
"Colonel Russell has a female aide, and we only have one spare barracks available for his team to bunk in, this barracks is designed to house 12, so the rest of his marines will move into here for the duration of the mission, while Jess will temporarily relocate to the other barracks to sleep with Russell's aide Sargent Gonzalez. I know its not ideal, but I also don't know these marines, or whether they could try anything" Eric said, he knew the team would be angry about the decision to move Jess away from them and into another barracks, Trent would take it particularly hard, he liked having Jess where he could keep an eye on her without restrictions or worrying about other people being in the way, and it had been no secret that Jess was starting to struggle lately with her weight dropping of slightly and she was preferring to spend more time in her cot. She'd also had her appetite drop of slightly, but was making a conscious effort to substitute the calories she was missing out on by upping her formula intake. Some operators were well known to loose weight on extended deployment and would come home lighter than when they'd left, and as time rolled on, some would also notice a change in their energy levels and would spend their downtime relaxing in their cots more, so it was more a case of making sure she didn't loose to much weight, and she was just fatigued instead of actually sick. Eric was hoping that the promise that this would be 72 hours tops before she could move back in the barracks, and that highlighting the fact that he didn't know these men from a bar of soap, combined with Jess's past history, she would be safer being in the separate barracks
"I understand sir" Jess said as she started gathering her belongings, her voice was not its cheerful self, she didn't like the prospect of being separated from her brothers, but if she had a choice of sleeping in an enclosed space with a bunch of men she didn't know, over a female she didn't know, she would choose the female
"You don't trust them sir, do you" Clay asked picking up the tone in Eric's voice
"I haven't met them so I can't make that judgement, who I don't trust is there CO" Eric said confidently

"Hi I'm Jess" Jess said introducing herself as she walked into her barracks carrying her bags and a plastic tub that contained her personal belongings and medical supplies
"You got enough stuff with you" Sargent Gonzalez said briefly glancing at her for less than a second before putting her head back in some trashy girls fashion magazine, she was laying sprawled out on her rack, the sight was enough to tell Jess she wouldn't be getting any intelligent form of conversation from this person
"It's actually more than what it is, I've been here for 6 weeks already and have another 6 weeks to go, and with the other marines moving into the barracks, I had to move all of my stuff out" Jess said smiling as she tried to brush the comment of, she thought that perhaps Sargent Gonzalez hadn't been aware she was on extended deployment, so naturally she would have more belongings on her than the average sailor transiting through like Sargent Gonzalez was
"You can set up your cot there" Sargent Gonzalez said pointing towards a tiny space on the other side of the barracks, it was only then that Jess realised the sheer amount of belongings that Sargent Gonzalez had obviously brought with her, she had spread her belongings out over nearly every square inch of the barracks, she was only supposed to be here for 3 days maximum, as soon as this mission to get Abdullah Al-Asiri in custody was completed they were out of here. Why did she need all this stuff Jess thought to herself
"Ah sorry that's not going to work, there's no electrical access there, you've claimed all 8 electrical outlet ports for yourself, rules dictate that you limit yourself to one electrical outlet port" Jess said noticing that the 2 lots of 4 ports were now occupied, amongst the items included a hair curler, hair straigtner, a portable speaker, a humidifier sprouting some smelly smoke that made Sonny's boots smell more appealing, and a mood light device, was this girl serious she couldn't help but think, did she think this was a sorority house, it was a military barracks for god sakes
"Well no one else was using them" Gonzalez said matter of factly
"Yes but I'm here now, so you need to move your belongings so I can set-up my stuff, do not make me pull rank on you" Jess said strongly and quoting regs, silently hoping that Sargent Gonzalez had made a simple mistake
"What rank" Gonzalez scoffed laughingly at Jess, this was the reason Jess hated sharing barracks with people she didn't know
"I'm a petty officer first class for the United States Navy, that's an E6 rating, you are a marine sargent, that's an E5 rating, so that means I outrank you" Jess said firmly hoping that Sargent Gonzalez would get the hint and toe the line
"No, I have made space for you in my barracks, you should be grateful for my generosity" Gonzalez said condescendingly, speaking down to Jess, she had no intention of following the rules
"Knock, knock, can I come in" came Eric's voice from behind the door that led into the barracks
"Yes sir" Jess said pleased to have some form of reinforcement there
"I just wanted to make sure that you've settled in Jess, where's your cot" Eric asked surveying the room, there was only one cot erected which Sargent Gonzalez was laying on, Jess was known for her structure and organisation and this room had no sign of that, not even in one area that would indicate that anything in the barracks belonged to his EOD
"Not set up yet sir, I'm waiting on Sargent Gonzalez to pack up and tidy her belongings into a more appropriate layout, so she is not claiming the whole barracks for herself and I can have access to at least 1 of the electrical outlets as per regulations" Jess said indicating briefly to where the outlets were so Eric could see they were already taken
"Sargent Gonzalez, why are you still sitting there" Eric said disgusted at the sight he was seeing, there was more chaos and disorganisation caused by this one Sargent in this barracks, than what the entire Bravo team were capable of causing in the team room before he'd have dragged them in and had them clean the place top to bottom and square everything away
"Sir, I have created space for Petty Officer Turner" Sargent Gonzalez said not getting of her rack but indicating to a small space at the other end of the barracks, the space was just big enough to put up a cot, Eric could feel his face get red with anger over her brazen attitude and sheer level of disrespect he was being shown
"And are breaking the rules by denying her access to an electrical power outlet, this barracks is designed to house 8 men comfortably, you do not need to claim the whole thing for yourself, tidy up now" Eric said reprimanding the Sargent, he needed her to understand that this attitude was not going to fly with him
"Yes sir" Gonzalez said finally getting up of her cot
"Jess, Davis needs you to review some intel in the TOC with her" Eric said looking at Jess
"Yes sir, I can go and do that now" Jess responded looking at Gonzalez, wondering whether she'd make use of the time Jess would be out of the barracks to get her stuff sorted out so Jess could have space to set up her belongings

"Hey Pepper, what's wrong gorgeous girl" Jess said as she spotted the young hair missile sitting outside with Clay and Trent, neither of them looked to impressed, Pepper looked downright miserable and sore
"Turns out the marines don't approve of Pepper being allowed free roaming of the barracks, as one of them is allergic to dogs" Clay said softly
"Yeah he kicked her to get her away from him" Trent said, Jess saw the first aid pouch that Laura had given Brock for his birthday sitting there next to Trent, Pepper had most likely been injured and Trent was checking on her
"Aw poor Pep no wonder you look so miserable, wonder Brock's not in custody of the MP's" Jess said trying to soothe the hair missile, it took a bit to provoke Brock, but hurting Pep would be one sure-fire way to get yourself a glimpse of Brock super peeved off, that marine would have been seeing stars and hearing birds
"He nearly was, Ray, Trent and Sonny had to hold him back" Clay said recalling the incident
"Now it looks like she'll be sleeping in the kennels" Trent said, it was a big part of what had the team so down, they'd had Jess already moved out of their barracks because of the marines, and now Pepper was getting shifted to, it wasn't fair
"Shame I missed it, if its an allergy issue, how about we check with your dad and the boss, we'll see if its okay for you to bunk with me then Pep, show my bunkie who's the real dog queen around here" Jess said with a laugh at the thought, Sargent Gonzalez thought she was going to rule the roost around their barracks, just wait till she met the real dog who ruled the place
"You got bunkie troubles as well" Clay asked with a smile now on his face, he knew Brock would be happy knowing that Pepper was still bunking with someone she knew instead of being alone in the barracks
"How about spreading your stuff all around an 8 person barracks, claiming all the electrical access ports for yourself, and providing your bunkie with a space that is just big enough to set up a cot in, as far away from the electrical access ports as you can get, and telling her that she should be greatfull for your generosity in creating space in her barracks, not to mention that she refuses to acknowledge my superior rank because I'm not in the marines, she's E5 and I'm E6, so don't know how that's supposed to work" Jess said blurting out the whole situation to her brothers

"Sargent Gonzalez, why is this barracks not sorted out yet" Eric asked as he walked into the barracks under the pretense that he had to grab a file from Jess he wanted to review, he had just finished a briefing with General Blair and Colonel Russell, they were now on their way to the chow tent, but Eric had felt some all to familiar pains start to develop during the briefing in his stomach, he was hoping if Jess was there he could grab some of her antacid medication, it worked quicker than what Trent had on stock, and if he went to the infirmary it goes on record and he would have to be checked out officially which he didn't have time for, the request for the file was a code he used when his gut was playing up and he needed help from Jess and Trent but didn't want everyone else to know about it
"What is wrong with the barracks and the way my Sargent has them set up Blackburn" Russell asked walking in behind him after hearing Eric speak to Sargent Gonzalez like he did, and was firmly annoyed at Eric for doing so
"Colonel Russell, this is an 8 person barracks, yet Sargent Gonzalez refuses to comply with regulations and keep her belongings restricted to one area to allow Petty Officer Turner space to set up camp in here, where she has access to a electrical power outlet, Sargent Gonzalez has claimed all 8 for her own personal use which is against regulations" Eric said explaining the situation to Russell who looked completely unfazed by the state of the barracks
"Wait so none of these items belong to Turner" General Blair asked joining the two CO's who in his many years of experience would not be able to reach a resolution with this
"No General Blair, they do not, Petty Officer Turner's belongings are still packed in those bags and tub sitting there in the corner" Eric said pointing over to the packed bags
"Well she shouldn't have so many belongings, then she wouldn't need the extra space sir" Sargent Gonzalez replied earning a chuckle from Russell, who clearly saw no problem in her behaviour
"Sargent Gonzalez, Petty Officer Turner is currently stationed here on extended deployment, you are here for one mission only, which shouldn't take longer than 3 days to complete, yet you appear to have just as many if not more belongings than she does, yet how is it you have the right to take over an 8 man barracks completely on your own, and she has to much stuff" Eric asked now completely fed up with the behaviour, the folder Jess kept spare medication for him in and a few drinks and bars that he could have that would be easy on his stomach to consume was only just visible in the top of the tub, it was a black zip up folder that Jess had converted with Trent's approval after the duo had found him doubled over in his office. Trent gave Eric a huge lecture at that time about hiding when his gut was playing up from the team, Jess was somewhat more sympathetic to Eric's suffering and had respected his wish to hide the fact the times he was in more pain than he wanted to admit from the others as it was a critical moment. Together the 3 of them worked out a plan, for Eric to come to them for help, and they'd keep it between the 3 of them, providing that Trent's requirements were met, as soon as they weren't Eric knew he was going to have to see Doctor Masterson himself for a check up and possible tests, though Doctor Masterson had already agreed to tack them on at the same time he'd do Jess's for extra privacy in giving Eric a chance to explain his absence from Vah Beach and his presence at Bethesda to the average onlooker
"Sargent Gonzalez, you will set your belongings up in an appropriate manner to create adequate space for Petty Officer Turner to share this space equally with you, if you are having trouble working out how to do so then I will have someone paint a line on the barracks floor so you have a boundary marker to work within, do I make myself clear" General Blair said disgusted at the state of the barracks and Sargent Gonzalez's apparent lack of enthusiasm in creating a space for a fellow comrade in arms to sleep
"Yes sir" Sargent Gonzalez said realising the Colonel Russell had zero authority to override General Blair's orders as he was of higher rank, in her eyes Eric had zero authority over her though, he was outranked by Colonel Russell and as such could do nothing to her, and it was no secret to her that Colonel Russell had very little time for DEVGRU operators and would shut Eric and the others down the moment they spoke negatively to her

"Welcome to your home for the next few days Pep" Jess said opening up the barracks door so Pepper could walk in, she sniffed around the room quickly looking for a familiar smell as Jess walked down to where her belongings were sitting, added Pepper's bag Brock had given her containing a few toys and treats and a couple of blankets Jess could lay on the bottom of her cot for Pepper to sleep on or have her treats so to not make a mess all through Jess's cot. Jess was pleasantly surprised to find that the barracks had been fixed up so she had space to set up her own area near one of the set of four electrical outlets, Jess carried an adapter and power board so she only needed one technically, and if Sargent Gonzalez had been a decent human being instead of disrespectful then Jess would have considered allowing her to use the spare outlets, but Jess decided to take a leaf out of her book and promptly claimed all four outlets
"What is that" Sargent Gonzalez asked looking surprised at the latest arrival, she was laying on her cot reading another one of the magazines
"That is a dog, she's our team hair missile, one of your marines is allergic to dogs, so she can't sleep in the barracks with the others, General Blair had your medical file pulled and you have no allergy documented so he's given the okay for her to be sleeping here with me while you're lot are staying here, come on Pep, lets get our cot set up now we have some space" Jess said making it quite clear to Sargent Gonzalez that there was no way she could get rid of Pep from the barracks, she was there to stay as she pulled out her folded cot that her dad had given her and began to assemble it
"But she will get dog hair on my things" Sargent Gonzalez started to protest, she was not comfortable with dogs
"She won't go anywhere near your things if you keep them packed up and squared away will you Pep, cause she's a good girl, yes you are" Jess said with a smile sensing Sargent Gonzalez's obvious discomfort to the dog being there
"I am not okay with this, and why do you have a different cot to me" Sargent Gonzalez started to say, she was hoping to continue her protest against Pepper now being in there barracks, but the different cot drew her attention away from that, most standard military issue cots were nothing to special, yet Jess's had a built in mattress that was at least 8cm high with extra quilted style padding on top of that, it also stood at a good meter of the ground meaning it was easier to get in and out of than the standard military issue ones, it was also wider, more comparable to a single bed in width and had safety barriers you could fold up or down, privacy curtains that could be closed, built in hanging storage under the cot you could zip up, matching sleeping bag that could be attached, they were total luxury
"Because I brought it with me from home, my whole team have this style, comfy Pep" Jess said as she finished putting it together, Pepper recognising the cot by its smell as being Jess's promptly jumped up and waited patiently for Jess to pull out one of her blankets, Jess done one better and pulled out a pigs ear and gave it to Pepper as soon as she laid the blanket down, Pepper quickly settled down now quite content she knew where she was sleeping tonight, and while it may not have been dads cot, Jess's was just as good a substitute
"But that's not fair that we get stuck with these, and you get those comfy ones, I want that cot" Sargent Gonzalez whined, Jess finally realising, she was bunking with a Karen, oh joy she thought, at least she had experience dealing with these people, not from being in the military, she joined up to get away from these people. The experience came from growing up, people would look at her funny wondering how the hell a young teenager like her could be travelling first class unaccompanied, especially seeing as her idea of a travel outfit often was trackpants and hoodie, and a 20 year old with a top of the line cell phone, she lost track of how many times people would complain to her and say stuff about how she was obviously sourcing things illegally, that she should hand them over to that person to avoid getting in trouble with the law, she'd been accused of having a sugar daddy, sleeping with older men for money, her Nonno referred to them as 'intriganti ficcanaso pigri', meaning that they were someone who was to busy worrying about what other people have that they don't and thinking about what was the quickest way to take it from that person because you deserve it too. He had no respect for those people, and Jess felt the same way, they always took the easy way out and would blame everyone else for their behaviour instead of taking actual responsibility
"If we had a spare one to loan you, I would loan it to you, but we don't sorry, they're quite portable, maybe your unit CO would allow you to purchase one and bring it with you when you deploy, I can give you the shop address of where we got them from" Jess said still trying to be polite
"But why should we have to buy them, when the navy gave you yours for free" Sargent Gonzalez whined to her
"Ah, the navy don't just provide these for us, my team mates and I sourced them ourselves and were given permission by our unit CO to use them" Jess said not wanting to cause an issue for Eric or Lindell about this as she had no doubt that Sargent Gonzalez would try it in an effort to get the cots taken from Bravo and given to her as 'compensation' which was a typical Karen ploy
"Why do you have your own personal kitchen" Sargent Gonzalez said moving on as Jess started to assemble the piece of furniture
"Um, I don't use it as a kitchen, space can sometimes be a premium in certain situations, and I like to keep my area of the barracks tidy and organised so I'm not in everyone's way, this helps me do that when there's limited storage and space available" Jess said as she quickly unpacked the contents of the tub, she quickly noticed that Eric's folder was gone and made a mental note to check on him, though it was probably stress upsetting his gut with the marines here
"What are you some type of hoarder druggie" Sargent Gonzalez asked shocked as Jess pulled out her medications sorting through them she found the ones she needed to take for the evening and packed the rest away
"No, I have a chronic medical condition due to an old injury I sustained in the line of duty just under 12 months ago, I have to use all those as part of my treatment plan" Jess said as she expectedly changed from her uniform into some pyjamas for sleeping
"Ew, what's that, that's gross" Sargent Gonzalez commented as she noticed Jess's button on her stomach
"It's called a feeding tube, it goes directly into my stomach, and feeds this stuff straight into it" Jess said as she cleaned it and started her pre-bed routine and gathered what she needed to set up a feed for while she was asleep and made a start on having her medication
"So can you eat" Sargent Gonzalez asked inquisitively
"Little bits, but I've got to be really careful how much and its no where near enough" Jess said giving the base explanation necessarily, she knew nothing she said would satisfy Gonzalez, so she wasn't even going to try and make her understand, as her dad would say, there are two things you have zero hope of fixing in the world, stupid and ignorance, so don't even bother wasting your time trying, focus on being more productive
"But you can eat, so why not eat more, those are for people who can't eat" Sargent Gonzalez sprouted suddenly speaking to Jess like she was stupid herself
"If you want to continue believing that then go right ahead, I'm going to get some sleep time, some people can find the noise a little unusual to get used to, there's some headphones there if you want to burrow them" Jess said not wanting to waste any more mental power arguing with her, she was ready for sleep
"Wait, so you're a disabled retard, does Colonel Russell know about this" Sargent Gonzalez asked clearly not able to realise that the conversation was over
"Excuse me, for one I'm not a disabled retard and I take great offence at you calling me that, and two, what business does Colonel Russell have knowing about this, it has no effect on the mission" Jess said suddenly very annoyed at the derogatory comment that had just been made to her, and wanted it made quite clear and that it was none of Colonel Russell's business
"But you're disabled, if you use a feeding tube then you're not physically capable of being in the military, let alone in special ops, you obviously have no idea how dangerous this job is, you're nothing but a liability to the others and need to be" Sargent Gonzalez started saying to her in the condescending tone she used earlier, clearly attempting to make Jess feel like a second class citizen because of her need for the tube
"I have been involved with special ops for 5 years, in fact this injury was sustained during a special ops mission, I know exactly how dangerous it is out there, and I am more than capable of doing my job to keep everyone safe" Jess said cutting her off, now officially fed up of the BS Sargent Gonzalez was pulling
"Impossible, just look at you, its my duty to report this to Colonel Russell, peoples lives are at stake" Sargent Gonzalez said as she made her way to the barracks door, she was delighted with the news thinking she'd won and that Jess would suddenly cave into her demands
"Yeah you go and do that, make a fool of yourself, meanwhile I'm going to get some sleep in peace" Jess said calling her bluff, the marines want to handle this mission on their own and be in charge, they could go right ahead, General Blair was well aware of her condition, and her record to date with helping Lisa build the mission against Abdullah Al-Asiri and being in the field, he wouldn't bench her and Bravo wouldn't leave her behind because of BS allegations like this, she was safe

"General Blair, sorry to wake you sir, but I think you need to be aware that Bravo and Lieutenant Commander Blackburn are hiding the fact that a member of their team is not physically capable of doing their job due to being permanently disabled" Colonel Russell said to the General after urgently banging on his door
"What do you mean" General Blair asked annoyed at the sight of Russell standing there
"I'm talking about the fact that they have a member of their team who is disabled" Colonel Russell said abruptly, General Blair glanced behind the Colonel and saw Sargent Gonzalez standing there with a huge grin of superiority on her face believing that she'd won, she could see it now, the sight of Bravo being sent home in disgrace, her receiving the praise for uncovering the deceit that they were obviously pulling on everyone, Jess would probably receive jail time, surely she's obviously caused injuries to others and lied about it because of this, Blackburn to as no doubt he's been lying to protect her, they're obviously sleeping together, she'd have the whole barracks to herself once the MP's arrested Jess and dragged her to the brig and that dog would be outside where it belonged, she could hardly wait. She'd noticed some pretty nice, expensive items amongst Jess's personal belongings, surely she'd have time to sneak them into her own stuff, after all who would believe someone like her once it comes out that she's been lying to everyone
"Are you referring to Turner and her use of a feeding tube" General Blair said now clearly annoyed
"You're aware sir" Russell and Gonzalez said shocked at the General's response, their was no one more senior when it came to special ops than General Blair
