45. Chapter 45

8:30 AM

After scaling and gutting the fish, he cooked them over an open flame just outside of his hide-away home. Years of caring for Rin and her dietary needs had perfected his cooking technique. He had also acquired some berries. He could hear the little miko fumbling around and muttering to herself inside the cave, but his thoughts were too loud to really focus on her.

His beast kept trying to find ways to keep her close without dishonoring her or bringing about total mayhem. It had come up with nothing useful. To make matters worse, it actually brought up several discouraging facts. For example, the whole Inuyasha of it all.

He was almost one-hundred percent certain that there had been something going on between Kagome and Inuyasha, so what exactly was going to happen now? What had happened to bring her to his bed instead of Inuyashas'? Not that he was complaining of course.

There was also the fact that if he did leave her, if he actually let her go, she would likely run into either someone else she would share her body with, or someone who would take it by force. Both scenarios had his blood boiling over and his poison seeping out of his claws.

Lastly, there were the many mysteries she had presented. Where was she from? Why was Inuyasha fetching her in a week? What were the so-called "assignments" she was working on about? Could it be she was a spy for a different territory? What was she doing climbing out of the well on a rainy day? Had she fallen in? Where had Inuyasha been? And what in God's name was that deliciously alluring smell that seemed to emanate from her very soul?

Sesshoumaru practically growled from all the queries he would have to get answers to; and he would get answers. She had not lied to him, but she seemed to be holding quite a bit back.

Grabbing the piece of hollowed out wood that housed the berries he had picked, as well as the 2 sticks that held her now cooked breakfast, he made his way inside the cave, eager to leave the questions behind, and get back to enjoying his time with the little vixen that awaited him in his rooms.
