Mandy called to speak to Brian. She apologized profusely for what had happened. Ryan had told her that they were going to a neighbors house.

He assured her that he didn't place the blame on her. He was frustrated and worried but knew how sneaky kids could be.

"Do I need to go beat up a kid?" Dean asked lightly.

Brian smirked. "Don't think I haven't considered it." Ryan was the one that led them into the woods. He was a kid, and a clueless one at that. He couldn't even be mad at Kate. However, he was pissed that a vampire would show up. He promised her he wouldn't hunt but he couldn't let the thing go around killing people. The fact that the appearance may not be coincidental, sent shivers up his spine.

"When we were up here on the 4th, I had the feeling that I was being watched." Dean said. "It wasn't a strong feeling but now I wonder if someone wasn't hanging around."

Brian looked over at Kate curled up on the couch. "She was supposed to be safe."

"She is." Dean offered. "Sam and I will stick around until this situation is taken care of."

Brian wasn't fooling himself into thinking that stepping away from the life would be an absolute way to prevent anything supernatural from popping up. He was just hoping that they could stay off monster radar for a while.

Brian left to see if he could get any details from the police.

Dean drove down to a local diner to get food and left Sam to watch over Kate.

It was late afternoon and Kate had been sleeping for an hour. Sam wanted her to sleep that night and thought that she needed to wake up for food and to drink some water. He gently brushed the hair away from her eyes. He let his hand linger on the side of her face.

Kate was sitting on the dock at the lake. She was dipping her toes in the water. She heard a sound behind her and turned to see a man with his arm around Hannah's neck. She looked scared. Kate stood up and demanded that he let Hannah go. She drew her knife from her hip. Before she could react, the man bit Hannah's neck and Hannah fell to the ground. Kate ran to her body and held her as the life force left her body. She cried and yelled for help. She heard fast approaching foot steps and whipped around with her knife out. She saw Sam running to her and when she looked back, Hannah was gone.

Sam caught Kate's arm as she swung at him. "Whoa, whoa. It's me."

Kate's eyes snapped open and she nearly headbutted him, sitting up and diving into his arms.

Sam smoothed her hair. "It was just a dream."

"I think Hannah is in danger." She sobbed.

Sam had seen Kate holding her friend, crying but hadn't seen what happened before that. Visions were tricky. He called Brian and told him about the dream.

Brian decided to check out Mandy's house, just to be safe.

Dean returned with food and carried it to the cabin. He handed Sam the containers and walked back for drinks. He stopped and looked all around him. He carried the drinks inside the house and locked the door behind him. "Hey, Katie. Are your Spidey senses tingling?"

"Ugh, they aren't Spidey senses, Dean." She grumbled.

Dean ruffled her hair. "Fine, but is anything off?" He didn't want to scare her but couldn't shake that odd feeling.

She closed her eyes and focused on her surroundings. Everything felt off. She couldn't pin point if something new was up or if it was just her nerves from earlier that day. "I don't know. I'm sorry."

He pulled her in for a side hug. "No need to be sorry."

They ate dinner as they waited for Brian to return. Dean had sent him a message to be on high alert.

Brian left Mandy's house. Everything there seemed to be fine. Mandy's husband had gotten home from work and they were keeping the kids inside for a few days. He drove quickly to the cabin. The police weren't willing to share information about an open case, but he did get enough information to be reasonably certain that the body didn't belong to his coworker. With Dean's message in mind, he walked swiftly from his car to the cabin and immediately locked the door behind him.

Kate ran to him and hugged him.

He lifted her into his arms and carried her to the table. He gave her a few minutes to hold onto him before he asked if she felt like talking.

"About what?" Kate asked.

He tapped her journal. "You drew someone earlier. Who is he? Why did you draw him?"

Kate looked confused. "I did?"

Brian opened her journal and pointed at the drawing. "Where have you seen him before?"

Kate rubbed her eyes and looked at the drawing. She vaguely remembered doing it. She didn't know why she had drawn it. "I saw him at Ms. Mandy's house."

Brian stiffened. "What was he doing there?"

She stretched. "He fixed a hole that the puppy dug under the fence. Why?"

Brian's mind raced. "Is he friend's with them?"

Kate shook her head. "I don't think so. He works for a fence company."

Brian shot Dean a look. Chris, the man in the drawing, worked with Brian. He was a welder. To Brian's knowledge he didn't have a second job. Brian reminded himself that he couldn't act on the information Kate gave him. It was all a little too coincidental.

As night time fell, Dean helped Brian check the warding and salt lines again. They stayed up after Sam and Kate went to sleep, to chat. They bounced around ideas as to how Chris could be involved. Dean slept on the couch, just incase something happened during the night. Brian reluctantly called it a night under the premise that he needed rest before tracking the thing down the next day.

Kate was exhausted from a night full of bad dreams. This time they were just dreams from the stress of the day before. She laid her head on the table and half listened as her dad and Dean talked.

They didn't have much to go off of. Brian couldn't go back to Mandy's or ask a bunch of questions without her becoming suspicious. His shop was closed for the weekend and he didn't know where Chris lived. He couldn't run in, guns blazing, because he didn't know for a fact that Chris was the vampire.

They stayed in the cabin for the first half of the day. Dean was getting antsy and wanted to find something that would lead them to the vamp. He left to see if the crime scene had been cleared.

Sam stayed by Kate's side. She was quiet and tired. He knew that she was still processing so many things.

Dean parked the impala and walked through the woods, toward the cave. The place was still crawling with police so he couldn't get a close enough to do much good. He looked around the surrounding area for any sign that pointed to a vampire's presence. He walked up to Mandy's house and discretely looked around the outside. They had ore questions than answers and that didn't sit well with Dean.

Brian paced around the small living room. He hated sitting on his hands. He didn't want to sit around and wait for the vampire to strike again.

After two days, the team still had very little to go off of and were starting to think that the man had died from other causes.

Brian went into work that Monday, leaving Kate with Sam and Dean. Chris was working that day and Brian kept a close eye on him.

Kate had been fighting sleep. Every time she fell asleep she would see Hannah, falling to the ground after being attacked. "I want to go to Hannah's house today." Kate stated.

Dean shook his head. "I don't think that is a good idea. Last time you were there, you and Hansel and Gretel went traipsing through the woods."

Kate rolled her eyes. "They wont be going anywhere. They are still scared about finding a body."

"Sam and I are here, you don't need to go over there." Dean decided.

Kate's mood soured. She spent the rest of the day sulking and staying in her room. She just wanted to see Hannah and know that she was alright. If a vampire was in town because of her, she would be devastated if Hannah got caught in the crossfire.

Brian returned from work with no new leads. He had purposefully nicked his finger and Chris didn't react the way Brian thought a vampire should.

They went to bed that night, frustrated and antsy.

Around 2 am, Kate woke up and started putting her shoes on. She slung her bag over her shoulder and opened the front door.

Dean sprung and grabbed her before locking the door. "Kate, what the hell are you doing?" He asked, shaking her gently.

Her eyes were unfocused and she didn't respond.

Brian ran into the living room. "What's going on." He snapped his fingers in front of Kate's eyes and she still didn't respond.

Dean sat her down in a chair and Sam gently put his hands on her. His eyes lost focus for a few moments before he let go of her and stumbled backwards. "We need to go, now!"

"Where? What?" Brian stammered.

"Mandy's they're in danger." Sam shouted as he ran to grab his things.

"Sam! What is going on?" Dean demanded.

"I'll explain on the way." He said as he slung Dean's duffle across the floor.

Brian held on to Kate's shoulders. "What about her?"

Dean groaned. "She can stay in the car."

Brian grabbed his things and carried Kate to the car.

Sam sat in the back with Kate, trying to rouse her from her dream. "Come on, kid, snap out of it."

Dean floored it and drove into town. "Sam, details!"

"He is in their house." Sam exclaimed.

"Who?" Brian asked.

Sam growled in frustration and grabbed both of Kate's wrists. "Kate! Wake up!"

Kate's eyes flew open and she threw herself back so hard her head hit the door's window.

Sam touched her face to get her to focus. "We are in the car, I saw him. We are going to Mandy's"

Kate was breathless. "Dad, they are in danger."

"Just tell us what is going on so we aren't kicking down a door for no reason." Dean commanded, calmly.

Kate forced herself to think. "The man I drew, he is in their house. He was standing in Hannah's bedroom." Tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Sam, are you sure this is a vision, and not another dream?" Dean asked.

"Yes, just trust me." Sam said in frustration.

When they pulled up in front of the house, all the lights were off. The street was calm.

"Kate are you sure about this?" Brian asked again.

Her face was white and listless.

Dean cleared his throat. "I'll take a closer look. If it is nothing then we just lost some sleep." He said as he smiled weakly at Kate. He crept up to the house and peaked in the windows. He couldn't hear anything from inside. He reached for the front door but froze when he noticed it was cracked open, and not locked. He ran back to the impala. He grabbed their gear and worked with Brian to form a plan.

Brian opened the back door and got on Kate's level. "You absolutely have to stay in the car, do you understand?"

Kate started to argue.

"No! You stay here and lock the doors. You do not get out of the car no matter what." He said, before swiftly making his way to the house.

Kate sank down in the seat and hummed to herself. She wanted to save her friends but forced herself to follow her dad's orders.

Dean opened the front door and cleared the entry way, they made their way into the house, sweeping each room. The door to the girls' room was slightly ajar. Dean rolled his eyes. Either they were going to save some kids or he was going to wind up in jail for what looked like an attempted kidnapping. The room was empty. He swore and watched as Brian opened another door.

Brian went inside, with Sam right behind him. He turned on the light and made eye contact with a terrified Mandy and two teenagers. They were bound with tape over their mouths. Brian made quick work of releasing them and uncovering their mouths.

Mandy immediately began to ramble. She couldn't get her words together.

Brian calmed her enough for her to tell him that a man had shown up and attacked them. He didn't hurt any of them but he was fast and had tied them up before she could react.

Dean called from one of the other rooms. "How many kids do they have?"

"Five." Mandy shouted.

Dean looked at the two boys in front of him. "Where is your sister?"

Ryan turned green. "He took her."

They found Mandy's husband, knocked out in the back yard. He had taken a hard blow to the face and lost consciousness.

They made sure the rest of the family was okay before splitting up to search for Hannah.

Kate stayed in the car as she was told. Fear built in her stomach and made her woozy. Sam ran out of the house and knocked on the window of the car. He told her what they had found. Kate sobbed.

"We will find her, okay? You got us here and everyone inside is shaken but fine. We will find her." Sam patted her hand and then ran back into the house.

Kate was hit by a wave a pain radiating through her skull. She barely made it out of the car in time to throw up in the bushes. Her heart was beating so hard that she felt her pulse in her eyes. "SAM!" she screamed.

Sam sprinted out of the house and grabbed her before she hit the ground. "Kate. Look at me. What is wrong?"

Kate steadied herself, looking deep into his eyes for understanding. She broke free of his grip and took off running to the lake.

Sam swore under his breath and called Dean while he ran after her.

Kate stopped on the gravel road that ran beside the lake. She spun around and looked into the pitch black woods. She heard a muffled scream and whipped around, knife out to see a man with his hand over Hannah's mouth. It was just like in her dreams. She forced her panic to subside. "Let her go."

The man laughed and showed his fangs. "Well, aren't you a brave little thing."

Kate stepped closer. "What? You afraid of a challenge?"

He snarled and gripped Hannah tighter.

"I know what you are." Kate warned.

"Then you should know that I could snap her neck and then yours before you had the chance to blink." He chuckled.

"Why are you here?" She demanded.

"Man's got to eat."

She shook her head. "No, why are you HERE? Why this specific area? You know who my dad is."

He scoffed. "Your daddy has quite the reputation. Once I'm done with you, I'm going to drain him, real slow. I'll make him last for days."

Kate laughed darkly. "I wouldn't be so sure of that." She said as she pulled her knife across her hand.

The scent of her blood hit him and his eyes fixated on the wound. "You, stupid, stupid girl."

Kate held her hand out. "Not stupid, just a distraction."

"Wha-" He started to ask but collapsed to the ground.

Kate rushed to Hannah and cradled her in her arms. She was covered in blood, but thankfully it wasn't hers.

Sam shoved Chris's body away and wrapped his arms around both girls, shielding Hannah's view of the body. Kate's taunting had given him enough time to sneak up behind him and separate his head from his body.

Seconds later Brian and Dean both sprinted down the gravel path. Brian grabbed Kate and checked her over. "Are you alright? What happened? Hannah are you okay?" He spit out.

Hannah was physically fine but in shock. Dean picked her up in his arms and started walking back.

Kate walked beside Brian as he pulled her to him with his arm.

Sam followed behind.

Mandy ran from the house and took Hannah from Dean. She was hysterical.

Dean put his hand on Mandy's back. "The blood, it isn't hers. She is okay."

Brian's mind raced with how they were going to explain things to the family, but also the police. Chris's death could be explained by self defense but how was he going to explain being out at 2am and one of them having a knife big enough to take off the man's head. He pulled Dean to the side to quickly figure out what they should do.

Kate stumbled back and rested her back on the side of the impala. She watched the commotion and tried to process what she had done.

Hannah's dad walked over and put a heavy hand on her shoulder.

Kate looked up at him and gave him a weak smile.

"You passed." He stated, calmly.

Kate furrowed her brows. "What?"

"The test."

Kate turned to him. "What do you mean, test?"

He gave her an odd grin and his eyes turned solid black.

Kate screamed but before she could react, he tilted his head back and a plume of black smoke flew out of his mouth and into the night.

He collapsed to the ground and groaned.

Kate dropped to her knees and cradled his head.

Sam ran over to her. "What happened?"

Kate struggled to find words. "He said I passed the test and then his eyes went black and then black smoke came out and the uh.. the... the smoke left."

Sam pulled a flask from the front seat of the impala and sprinkled some of the water on both Kate and Hannah's dad. No reaction. He held him to his feet and braced him as they walked to the house. He put his other arm around Kate and led her in as well.

With the street clear and everyone safely inside, Brian and Sam got to work warding the house.

Mandy got Hannah cleaned off and put her to bed. The girl was still in shock. She grabbed extra clothes and handed them to Kate. "You could wash off as well." She grimaced at the blood soaked girl.

Kate looked down at her clothes and nodded her head. She used their shower and let the water wash the stains away. She sat down on the floor of the shower and cried.

Brian had to break the news to parents about the supernatural. There was no way around it.

They were understandably in shock. The sun had started to rise by the time the conversation came to an end. Adam, Mandy's husband, volunteered to take the blame for the man at the lake. He would tell the police that he fought with the man who had taken Hannah and grabbed the machete from the back yard when he was chasing him down. The story was solid and should make sense to the cops. Mandy briefed the older children with the story so that they wouldn't contradict anything.

Dean and Mandy walked around the house and checked the warding. Mandy helped point out places to hide the markings and was more than happy to have the writing on the walls.

The team left, with a promise to return later in the day to answer more questions.

Kate, after being done with her shower, had fallen asleep on the love seat. Dean scooped her up and carried her to the car.

Sam sat down in the backseat and helped Dean lay her down with her head on his leg. He knew the shock would wear off and Brian would be pissed that she had left the car. When she had looked into her eyes, he had seen how the plan would play out. He was not okay using her as bait but Hannah was moments away from death. They made a silent agreement and took off to the lake. Their connection made it possible for him to see and understand everything. He vowed that he would go to bat for her because, yes she had left the car, but she had also acted like a professional, in a terrifying situation. She saved Hannah and stayed calm. His own dad would flip his lid, even though the outcome had been good. He brushed a few stray hairs from her eyes and put a protective hand on her shoulder.

The impala stopped in front of the cabin and Dean carried Kate inside to her bed. He pulled her blankets up around her shoulders and stepped away. He met Sam in the doorway. He saw the strained look on his younger brother's face and knew he was deep in thought. He squeezed his shoulder and gave him an understanding look.

Sam took a deep breath and put his hand on top of Dean's. "Sleep first, talk later."

Dean nodded his head in agreement. "Clean up first, then sleep."

Sam ran his hand across his face. He had forgotten about the spray. He stumbled into the bathroom and quickly washed the blood from his body.

Dean found Brian sitting at the table, staring at the wall. "She's asleep."

Brian rubbed his face but didn't say anything.

Dean looked at the clock on the wall. "She and Sam are going to sleep, I think I will too. I can't say it would be a bad idea for you to get some shut eye."

Brian drank the rest of the beer he had opened and nodded his head in agreeance. He clapped Dean on the back as he passed and checked on Kate before he went to bed. She was sleeping peacefully. He swallowed around the lump in his throat. He had so many questions but Dean was right, they all needed some sleep.

A man watched from a distance as the curtains to the living room closed. He leaned back against a tree, peeling an apple with a knife. He smirked and wiped the knife along his pants leg. "Passed with flying colors." He said to himself. He bit into the apple and turned his back on the cabin.

Dean stopped, feeling a chill run down his spine. He pulled the edge of the curtain back and scanned the trees outside the cabin. He furrowed his brows and shut the curtain. Maybe he really was getting paranoid.
