Chapter 46 – Thank the Force
The sun in Coruscant just came up two hours ago. Inside the Senate Hospital, Han and Leia and Chewie decided to get to their apartments to take a shower, change clothes and eat something, leaving Luke inside the room with Ines.
At that moment, Luke had fall asleep with his head resting on the bed, while his right hand kept holding Ines one.
Luke!
Luke opened his eyes rubbing them and raised his head, adjusting to the light in the room
"Sorry, doctor. I think I fell asleep" he said and looked around, only to find himself alone in it. He was sure he heard his name being called.
Luke!
He stood up all of the sudden. Someone was calling him. His eyes wide. He knew that voice. Approaching Ines, he closed his eyes.
My love is that you? He asked using the force bond he and Ines share. He could sense her. My love squeeze my hand if you can hear me, he asked as he watched their right hands holding each other.
His heart was beating fast and when he saw Ines fingers moved and squeeze his. Smiling he kissed her forehead with tears coming down his face.
"I knew it would work" he said and heading to the door of the room he called the doctor.
After a few minutes, the doctor who was treating Ines, appeared.
"What is wrong?"
"My wife just squeeze my hand. I asked her and she did it. Also she called me, more than once"
The doctor looked at him, not understanding
"We can communicated through the force. It is something we do" he explained "Does that mean the treatment worked, right?"
The doctor looked at the monitor and listening Ines lungs, and checking the baby's heart beat, she looked at Luke and smiled.
"The oxygen level got up, and heart beat is normal and the blood pressure got normal and the baby heart beat also is getting strong. Her lungs sound better. Your wife got through this, Mr. Skywalker. Thanks to you" she smiled when she saw Luke smiling and resting his forehead on her.
At that moment Leia and Han walked in, wearing new clothes.
"What is wrong?" Leia asked but when she saw her brother smiling she knew Ines would be okay and the twins just hugged each other laughing.
"You did it Luke" Han smiled and Luke hugged him.
"Thanks to you, my friend." Luke said nodding and he sighed. He was tired, after all he didn't sleep much, only an hour and he was still wearing his wedding suit.
"Go home, get a shower and eat something. We will stay here with Ines until you arrived" Leia smiled him
"I want to be here when she wakes up"
"You can go" the doctor replied "We will wake her up when you arrive"
Nod and giving another kiss on Ines forehead he told her through their force bond I'll be right back okay my love. I love you
He smiled when he heard love you more.
Luke entered in to his apartment and went towards his bedroom. Taking off his suit and shoes, he walked towards the bathroom and entering in the shower he turn the hot water and enjoyed the heat on his skin. He never imagine his wedding day would turn to be the best day of his life to bad, but in the end it turned well. He would always be thankful to the force. He knew it was the force who made him see Han and Chewie that day, and go with them to the those parts of Coruscant.
Turning off the water, he grabbed a towel and wrapped around his waist he walked into his bedroom and opening the closet he grabbed the black suit he wore in the throne room of the Death Star. Smiling he took one of Ines nightgown and smelled it. It has Ines perfume that he loved so much. He almost lost her and their baby boy. Thank you Force he thought.
Putting his clothes and putting his boots, he wrapped his belt around his waist and strap his lightsaber on it.
Looking at the mirror he smiled watching his wedding ring. He was a married man but with that ring on his left finger, it made it more real. Combing his wet hair, he head to the kitchen, he grabbed a bowl, and a box of cereals, and opened the freezer he grabbed a jar of blue milk, and sitting down he started to eat his favorite cereals with his favorite blue milk. He was hungry, he had to say. While he was eating, he remembered the words of the old Lady about his mother being a former Queen and Senator of Naboo.
He remembered the day he arrived at Coruscant and what Mon Mothma said to him and Ines.
"I found a place for you. It is an apartment of an old friend, and former Senator and Queen of the planet of Naboo, our friend Padmé Amidala."
It is possible that his mother was this Padme Amidala. Was he living in her own mother's apartment all this time?
Finishing his cereals, Luke went to bathroom and brushed his teeth when R2 appeared beeping, making Luke smile.
"Yes R2. Ines will be fine. Now you stay here, while I will get back to the hospital."
R2 beeped and Luke left the apartment, thinking that right after he finds out who almost killed Ines, he wanted to know about his mother, now more than ever.
Reaching the Hospital, Luke entered and went upstairs. Leia and Han smiled when they saw him. It was like that night in Endor 2 ½ month ago.
"You arrived in time. The doctor is about to wake up Ines" Leia informed him.
They entered inside the room, and Luke grabbed Ines hand.
"Do you think she is ready to breath on her own?" Han asked
"We scanned her lungs and the parasites are already dead. Now they will be expelled naturally by her body. We are confidence she can breath on her own. Besides we will give her this oxygen mask, to help her breath"
Luke kept running his hand on Ines hair, while the doctor inject some white liquid on Ines IV.
After a while, Ines eyes started to opened her eyes.
Ines looked scared when she opened her eyes and realized she was in a medical care and had a tube insert inside her mouth. She was on her wedding party before.
Then she heard Luke's voice in her head
My love, look at me
Ines looked at him and started to relax
What is going on? She asked
You had some parasites inside your lungs and the doctor had to intubate you to help you breath.
"Mrs. Skywalker. I'm going to take out the tube. When I ask you I will ask you to take a deep breath and then exhale. When I take it out, don't talk for a while. Let your throat rest okay?"
Ines looked at Luke
Okay
"She said okay" Luke replied to the doctor.
The doctor detached the tube to the breathing machine, and looking at Ines, she gave a deep breath and when she exhale the doctor pulled out, making Ines cough at the end, while the doctor put the oxygen mask.
"Slow deep breaths Mrs. Skywalker"
Luke looked at her and was take deep breaths, so Ines could do the same, which after a while she started to get used to breath on her own again.
"That's it my love" Luke smiled.
"She will be fine. If you need anything just call me" the doctor smiled and left.
The baby. Is the baby alright?
Yes. The baby is fine Luke told her rubbing her belly. Ines calmed down when she felt the baby kicked.
Leia and Han looked at each other and decided to leave the room. Those two need to be alone for a while.
You scared me Ines. Don't do that to me ever again. I wouldn't be able to live without both of you.
I'm sorry Luke. What happened?
I will tell you everything. But you need to rest. I'm here by your side until you wake up. I love you Luke said
I love you more she replied and she closed her eyes, falling asleep, with Luke by her side.
Ines woke up? Now will Luke find out who almost killed Ines and the baby and tried to kill him?
