The morning came like any other, they had just taken down a fortress of the White Fang and broken their backs. Still like the docks, book store, and any other time Blake had been out there with Jaune fighting. The next day seemed to change and classes came back without difficulty. They all woke up and had to work off the soreness that came with what they did yesterday. Especially Jaune as he was thrown around more than once, and then get to classes. There were no news stories that mentioned JPBY or WRRN and that was fine, Blake lived an adventurous life already.

The day seemed to blur together until they got back to the dorm and Jaune had to take yet another visit to the Headmaster's office. This we the time to speak with the rest of the team about Jaune's condition. To figure out something and perhaps compare observations, she didn't expect to find Pyrrha being so nonchalant.

"I don't see why this should be considered as a problem..." The redhead said.

"He is hearing a voice inside of his head, taking advice from it and acting on it."

Blake recalled that time she found him in the library digging up articles on the White Fang, his she asked for his help then he paused for this Amber to talk. While she is glad he saw things Blake's way and decided to aid. That a disembodied voice managed to convince him of anything isn't a good sign. What if it decides to tell him to hurt someone? It hasn't now but will they always be the case? Blake shared this concern the best she could.

"Jaune wouldn't do anything like that," Pyrrha assured. "He doesn't seem to be having a problem, I don't think this is something we're even qualified to deal with. Nor do I feel like there's a reason for us to 'deal' with it."

"Jaune may not be having 'issues' now but what about five years from now? How about ten?" Mental illnesses are not something anyone wants to sweep under the rug and forget about. It might seem like Jaune's doing fine here but the point is that could change.

"Yang, what say you?" She turned to the blond laying casually on her bed and hoped she more concerned about this than Jaune's partner was.

She hummed. "While I don't agree with how passive Pyrrha wants to be. However, I have to agree we don't have the skills or experience to do anything."

That is true, the whole point of talking to them was to try and brainstorm ideas. "We can't just leave him with a voice inside his head..."

"Not saying we should," Yang sat up and locked gazes with her partner. "But it's not like we can't do much as is... unless you wanna talk to a doctor in Vale."

A scroll call at best due to the school still being locked down. Blake had to admit it was kind of naive to think speaking with the rest of the team would yield some magical solution. Still, she expected the two of them to be on board with her from the start. What Blake figured she needed was information about Jaune, a truthful recording of his own past, and this Amber. From a source, she could trust but that also wasn't likely here.

"Just getting started and I've already hit a roadblock." That wasn't to say she was losing faith in this...

Jaune understood that when Amber's presence was finally revealed it meant Ozpin would want to know more about how it happened. The scar on his hand and whatever happened when they gave Amber's body an aura booster meant something. Didn't have a clue as to what but Jaune was just as curious as they were. Especially if there was a possibility to remove Amber back into her original body. So Jaune didn't argue when pulled away from his dorm to an Atlas warship. The same nurse that first looked at his arm was there and was now looking over Amber's body in the medical room.

Ozpin held a tablet as a device monitored Jaune's aura levels. "It is a bit higher than it should be although not by much, she is inside of your mind but not connected to it." He said with a hint of relief. "Not being connected to your soul might make any kind of removal easier, but still dangerous with the technology we have." He added when he saw Jaune's hopeful look.

It wasn't like the Headmaster wanted to burst his bubble but the aura transfer machine was barely tested. If only animals had aura then maybe they could try finding out a way to remove a soul when two were together. As it stood they needed to poke and prod the problem until a solution presented itself.

"I still don't understand how any of this can be possible in the first place." The nurse said with an annoyed tone, he couldn't be given much context behind Jaune's situation. "Are you certain this isn't some latent semblance we're dealing with here?"

"Afraid not, although I wish it was as simple." Ozpin replied and the man grumbled.

It didn't help that the nurse's ability to help with his own semblance was being hampered at every turn. Both him not knowing anything beyond some black goo was behind this and it was about a semblance that could pass off only women. Everything he was given was edited and the man could tell, he did swear to secrecy but it was clear he hated hitting roadblocks in his work.

"Is there any chance this device you have can pull semblances?" The nurse asked. "It sounds to me Amber's semblance is still her own, perhaps she could be pulled out by that?"

"Doubtful, the machine can only take hold of aura then move it somewhere else nothing more." Ozpin sighed, likely he and Ironwood considered it as well.

"There is also the fact that the Maiden powers aren't a semblance." Jaune thought.

The door opened and the General stepped in. "Anything?"

"No," Was their nurse's essential response, Ironwood was a bit adamant on allowing him here and telling an outsider anything. Still, he saw the usefulness of a semblance that can analyze people's auras and wounds. "What I can say is that the girl's body is quite healthy and there are no risks as it stands."

Jaune felt more than a little relieved to hear that, it looks like a body without a soul was possible.

"Good now leave us," Ironwood said firmly, even when the door he didn't relax. "Those two captives you captured haven't said much so no need to ask."

"Hm, wonder how long that's going to last. The sooner they talk the quicker everyone can capitalize on Cinder's defeat." Amber sounded just as eager as Jaune felt at that moment but he needed to bush it off for this.

"Can anyone tell the difference between Amber's soul and mine?" He asked. "If we know then maybe the machine you have can target and pull hers out?"

"Even if we were to identify which aura is there the issue is getting the right soul out..." Ironwood sighed. "As we said before, the aura machine operates using imprecise science at best. It just pulls a soul out and crams it into someone else."

"Especially when we don't even know how Cinder did it. I think we have to just pull the plug on this." Amber said defeated.

Jaune wanted to groan at how easy she was to accept defeat, was she the same girl who trained until she felt ready to run away from Beacon? Evaded being hunted for years of her life? He wasn't going to throw in the towel because they hit a minor snag.

"Perhaps we have been thinking about this the wrong way." Ozpin said.

"What are you thinking Oz?"

"Recall when we gave Amber the aura booster, both of their scars reacted in a similar way. Her body may have been calling her that night, trying to get it's missing part."

"I did feel it here," Amber added. "That night I knew my body was at Beacon because I could feel it."

"Using the entry and exit points in some way. It's something to look into, one lead is better than none at all." The General added. "Using that to our advantage to draw her soul out, perhaps with the aura machine to help."

"So does that mean we have a way to help Amber?" Jaune looked hopeful to his Headmaster, whose eyes glazed over the tablet in his hands once more with a critical eye.

"Perhaps we do, although there are risks we are unable to test or prepare for. This could kill either one of you, or still take both souls." Ozpin warned. "I will keep you posted but until then focus on your classes and the dance. James and I will work on this."

"Alright." Jaune nodded sincerely, this was progress and was happy anything like it.

He soon found himself being escorted down the hallway by a soldier when he looked at his scroll. It rang a few times but he never had a chance to look at it when the tests were going on. The contact on the missing call said Dad.

"Huh, I wonder why he's calling." It had been a while since Jaune talked with his family so he was quick to dial back.

Roland never liked fast food, too greasy and it always felt like he was stuffing his face with carbs. So ordering it to their rooms we less than preferred. Although they didn't have much in the way of options, the places they rented didn't have a proper kitchen to cook anything. He shouldn't complain too much, Roland had been keeping up on the news and knew what he was getting into coming to Vale. "At least it's getting better."

His scroll rang as he took a big bite out of a burger. "Hm!" He was quick to show his wife the screen.

"What is- Jaune." Seeing his husband's plight Juniper accepted the device.

"Hello?"

"Oh, hey mom."

"'Hey mom' that's it? You haven't called or so much as texed us for months now and that is all you can say?" She said sternly and silence reigned from the other end until Jaune could collect himself to answer.

"Sorry... I was trying to call dad back is he there?"

Juniper shot Roland a look as he finally swallowed own his mouthful. "Yes, sweety give him a moment. Now how are you doing today, have you been keeping up on your schoolwork, made any friends lately?"

"Everything's fine considering the state of the city. My team has been prepping from the Vytal festival in an unconventional way but I think we'll put up a good fight." Jaune sounded so certain that Roland hoped he wasn't being cocky.

"If he's managed this far then perhaps he picked up a trick or two." Roland knew his son's swordplay was lacking but it seems like Beacon knew what they were doing letting him in.

"Speaking of your team," Juniper whipped out a devious smile before asking. "Got any cute girls on your taking to the Beacon dance?"

They both knew the there other were all girls and Juniper probably expected their son to sputter or fall into the obvious trap she laid out. Certainly not response in a causal manner.

"While I ask my partner Pyrrha Nikos, she said yes too..." Jaune trailed off no doubt realizing what he just did and hopefully moved his ear away when she squealed like a banshee.

"By the brothers, you do have a girlfriend!"

"What- No, no, no, we're not like that- Stop laughing Amber it's hard to think with you howling as well." He murderer the last part quietly enough that Roland almost missed it.

Roland knew if he didn't intervene they were going to be here for several hours and cautiously took the scroll away. "Hello Jaune, I know it's been a while since we've talked but that's going to change pretty soon. We're going to see you at Beacon on Saturday." He only hopes their presence wasn't going to interrupt something.

"Wait you and mom are in Vale?!"

"Yes, we came to visit. I get this may be a surprise but there wasn't much time to tell you when trying to book a flight and find a place to stay." It was a good enough excuse as any. Ronald didn't want Jaune to know he was here because he thought his son was losing himself mentally.

"Most of you sisters have come too, except Saphron she needed to remain in Argus."

"The whole family... in Vale..." Jaune didn't seem to be listening anymore as his breathing was audible from the other side.

"Is everything alright?"

There was a long intake of air before the response came. "Yeah, this is fine, nothing to get worried about. I can't wait for you guys to meet my team."

Jaune had exited down the ramp of the battleship when the scroll call ended. It had lasted for a few more minutes it was mainly his father mentioning what time they were scheduled to get inside the school, interesting to learn there was one. Probably recently implemented by the Headmaster. Now Jaune has had his thoughts to work with and the idea of the majority of his family being here, they didn't capture Cinder and she already expressed her willingness to hurt people he cared about. Even if it wasn't directly him taking Ruby got to Yang which ate at Jaune. Now that his flesh and blood were staying at a hotel in the city while only his dad was a Hunter didn't sit well with him. However, Cinder must still be reeling from yesterday and Emerald and Mercury are out of the picture. Neo could spy on them but Roman said she was doing it for him and not their mutually hated boss. Jaune was probably getting worked up over nothing, maybe he could explain the situation to Ozpin and get some help from him.

Taking a deep breath Jaune relaxed his body and kept up a brisk pace to Beacon's dormitory. "Everything is going to be fine, no need to stress over this."

Chuckling from Amber broke his thoughts. "I gotta say I can't wait to meet your mother."

"Gods I'm glad these two aren't able to collaborate on getting me to date Pyrrha..."
