Danny held the map as it took him to The Observants Lair. Angry as he was, he knew he couldn't beat them in a fight. No matter how much he wanted to punch their eyes. But it was time for them to understand their way is not the right way. He reaches a huge tower that was full of telescopes and a giant eye in the middle. Danny heard of this place from Clockwork.
"Tribunal Headquarters. The Observants hideout." He said and saw a few guards.
"No doubt they knew I was coming," Danny said, turning into his human form.
Danny walks up to the guards, and they try to stop him, but Danny walks through them and the doors. After all, in the Ghost Zone, humans are the ghosts. He walks through the halls before entering the main room. Danny was surprised to see so many of them, but he shook his head and glared at them.
"Ghost Child." One of them said.
"You know why I'm here," Danny said, wanting for the answer he knew was coming.
"We will not return Betty Heart." Another said.
"Because she fell in love with someone that wasn't a ghost? I understand he was a rapist, but preventing future generations from learning the same mistake, is not helping!" Danny told them.
"It's her fault not keeping her love under control." A third said.
"And what do you know about the Lovesickness?! It is only known in the Girl's family! How can taking away their heart help others?!" Danny shouted.
"We are task to watch over every time period. Betty made a mistake of falling for a rapist and letting her lust take control. For her crime, she was stip from her love." An Observant said.
"You call that justice?!" Danny shouted.
"She must now live with the pain of never feeling love again." Another said.
Danny couldn't believe it. They were punishing her for the wrong reasons. Yes, it was her fault for falling in love with a rapist that never cared about her. But taking away her heart to stop her from warning others of the dangers of the Lovesickness was just chasing a bigger problem and he'll be damn if they try to take Inky's heart!
"DOESN'T MEAN YOUR WAYS ARE RIGHT!" He shouted, causing the room to go quiet.
"Taken away Betty's heart is not solving the problem! It's making it worst! If there are dangers to the lovesickness, then everyone has the right to know! Hiding it away is going to make the problem worst!" Danny told them.
The Observants look ready to urge, but the lead one held up a hand.
"Even so, Betty has not learned her lesson." He said.
"Hasn't?! I just visit her! She doesn't regret have any of her kids! She was even happy to have granddaughters! Inky is afraid of her lovesickness and wants to learn it to avoid any future problems! Not only did Betty was unable to warn her daughter..." Danny stops right there.
It just crosses his mind if the Observants didn't take Betty's heart, then the girl's mother won't have fallen in love with their father. And they would never be born. He glares at them and tries not to change into his ghost form.
"You bastards. It's not her heart you took." Danny growls.
"Her children and grandchildren will forever remind her of her greatest mistake. That is why she is refused to talk about her lovesickness." The Lead one said.
"And you call that punishment?!" Danny asked.
"Punishment or not, Betty broke the rules and he must pay the pride for it." It said.
Danny was having a hard time holding himself together. They were trying to ruin the girl's life, started with their grandmother! They were aware of what was going to happen and yet, they took it the wrong way. Would he met the girls if they didn't, he doesn't know. But one thing was clear. He loves all four of them. He looks back at them and could sense that the lead one was smirking.
"Some rules...All I see is a bunch of lazy ghosts that don't think how their own actions will cause trouble with others as well." He said.
"Excuse us?" The Lead One said.
"I'll admit that if you didn't take Betty's heart, there would be a chance I would never meet the girls. However!" Danny said, stepping up to them.
"Doesn't mean your way is right. Taking Betty's heart is causing more of a mess than you think. You know something, maybe next time Inky's lovesickness kicks in, I'll grant her wish. We'll have a family and let our children have theirs, and the best part? We won't stop them from their lovesickness." Danny told them.
That surprise the Observants. The boy was making more problems for them. The Lead one glares back at him.
"And why would you do that?! We know she won't let that happened!" He asked.
"Maybe, but I trust the girls. Unless..." Danny said.
"Unless what?" The Lead one said.
"Return Betty's heart. Let her give the warnings of the Lovesickness and you won't have any problems. After all, you own me for beating the Ghost King." Danny said.
The Observants all glared at him. Many knew he was right. They did own him for stopping the Ghost King and saving both the Ghost Zone and Earth. Danny wanted for their answer before he found a white small box appearing in front of him.
"Take it, and consider our debt repay." The Lead one said.
Danny grabs the box and looks at them.
"Pleasure doing business with ya!" Danny said, and walks from the tower.
Inky was pacing around, worried for what Danny might do to the Watchers. She trusted him, but she was aware that he doesn't always think first. She wasn't sure what would happen to her if her lovesickness kicks in again. Danny was the only person that could cure it. Blinky groans and got up. She grabs her younger triplet and forces her to sit down.
"Inky, for the love of the Elsewhere, calm down!" She said.
"Danny's is fine. Even if the Watchers would try anything, they wouldn't be able to touch him, remember?" Pinky brought up.
"I know, I know. But you girls know how the Watchers are. They will find a way to stop him from getting grandma's heart back. And he's the only guy that can cure my lovesickness." Inky said.
"Inky, stop overthinking everything! Danny's fine." Clyde said.
Betty looks at her granddaughters and sighs. She may no longer have her heart, but she was fully aware of how they feel. She didn't regret having her five children, but she did regret meeting that man. Even without her heart, she hated that man for what he did to her, how he played with heart. Turned her into his little toy. But it was clear that Danny was different. From the short time she was talking to her granddaughters, she learns how kind and fair he was towards them. Not to mention smart as well. When they told him of their urges, he was the one to come up with plans to help him.
She smiles. She still remembers how Pinkamena and her boyfriend look even as they carry five babies with them. She owns a lot to that man. He brought her daughter back from the darkness. Betty places her hand where her heart was supposed to be and sighs. She knew, even without her heart, she would continue to love her family. She looks up and tries to at less give them one warning she knew very well.
"Girls, there is one danger I do know of that I must tell you." She said, making them turn.
"What is it?" Inky asked.
Betty ignores the pain and looks at Inky.
"The Lovesickness...is not something that runs in our family." She said.
"What?" Inky asked.
"Long ago...augh...my grand-grandmother, found a rare plant...augh!...and she thought it would help her convince her lover to like her...!" Betty try to say.
"Grandma..." Pinky said, worried.
"No, I won't let it stop me," Betty said, looking up.
"That plant was the cause of our family lovesickness. It doesn't fade from age...The plant was rare species, known as...Ave flos exspiravit." She said.
"Ghost Lover Flower?!" Inky shouted, surprised.
"You're kidding!" Pinky shouted.
"A flower that blooms every five years. It only lives for five years..." Betty said, trying to stop the pain.
Inky caught on to what she was trying to say. They were born from the effect of the flower. Their mother was the flower, and they were the seeds. And that means she had grown into the flower. And her children will be the new seeds.
"It was said that each child she had a seed of the flower. However, only one would carry the effect of the flower. That was my grandmother. Then me. Then Pinkamena. And finally, you, Inkamena." She said.
"By why Inky?" Clyde asked.
"I'm afraid I don't know. Without my heart, I can't speak of the dangers. I do hope that the boy returns soon. And before Inky's lovesickness kicks in again." Betty said.
Inky knew how bad she was when it kicks in. Because she loves Danny a bit more than her sisters, he was the only person she wanted. They heard a knock on the door, and Blinky answers it.
"Danny!" She shouted.
"Hey." He said, walking in.
"Did you get it?" Pinky asked.
"I did." He said, handing the box to Betty.
Betty could hear the heartbeat and knew it was her heart. She grabs the box and pulls down her shirt. She places the box near the hole and was cover in a bright glow. Danny and the girls had to cover their eyes from it until it dies down. When it did, Betty looked different. Her white clothes look more like a dress with white gloves that reach her elbows. She even had a bit of make-up on her. When she looks at them, she smiles.
"Thank you." She said.
"Grandma?" The Girls asked.
"Indeed. My Granddaughters. It's nice to able to feel happiness again without pain." Betty said.
Though a little confused, Inky did recover enough to remind herself what she said before.
"Grandma, The Ghost Lover Flower...what kind of effects did it have?" She asked.
"The what?" Danny asked.
Betty closed her eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.
"Dangerous effects. Effects, if not used correctly, will cause more harm than good." She said.
Well, Danny got Betty's heart back, and Betty is now whole again. Now, Danny did notices something as he was trying to get her heart back and something he didn't think about at all when he was getting it. I remember how something would have changed if the effects never happen. In the next chapter, I have Betty go over the effects of the Ghost Love Flower, the source of Inky's, and well as the others before her, Lovesickness.
SargentEpsilon, you not a horrible person. Trust me, I was upset that I had no help with the Talent Show, but that doesn't mean I don't mind the help. You don't have to make it for me, but if you must, you can send me some ideas of how the Lovesickness has dangerous things about it that Danny and Inky should be aware of.
This is open to everyone as well. If there's something you can think of that Danny and Inky should be aware of, please share. And to give you all time, I won't update this for a while. I'll try to think of my ideas in the meantime.
