Cutting off the head of the snake
Chapter 46
After hanging up on Jethro, she really was hungry by waving down the waitress so that she can order. She was in the mood for a nice juicy steak with baked potato and a salad.
The older waitress in her forties limping slightly no doubt having issues with her feet. "Can I help you, ma'am?" she said with looking further at the menu.
"Yeah, I am ready and good and hungry. I will have the T-Bone steak smothered in onions and mushrooms while having a baked potato with plenty of butter with a salad mostly Italian dressing with a large diet cola," she says.
"I will get right on with your order and bring over your drink." she walked away limping still to head on over to the soda fountain at the counter.
"Thanks," she said relaxing while thinking about Jethro being stuck in the hospital.
So she decided to call him to make that apology to him. She pulled out her cellphone from her purple purse with bringing up his number onto the screen.
Bethesda hospital...
Leroy Jethro Gibbs was trying to sleep with the endless stream of people coming in to check up on the patient. Mostly how his heart rate was doing since he has history ever since being shot in the chest by Luke Harris.
His cellphone was going off forgetting to turn it off. "Damn!" he cursed under his breath.
"Loreile did something happened to have you calling me?" he said without realizing that he was pissing her off.
"You dope there is nothing wrong except to say that I am very sorry for my behavior." she cried out over the phone trying not to make a scene.
"Jesus Loriele forgive you. I am just frustrated having to be stuck in the hospital every single time I get involved with the Cartel or any other enemies. So don't worry about it right now until I am able to get out of here. Where are you by any chance?"
"Restaurant downstairs of the hotel I am staying Jethro. I am waiting for my Rib-eye steak to arrive. I will be thinking of you when I am eating the steak." she smiled.
"Not fair for you to be doing this to me, Loriele" When I am stuck with eating crappy hospital food in the first place." he cried out with his emotional response.
"I am sorry as well baby. Just try and take it easy as much as possible and I will come to see you in the morning?" she takes a bite out of her first piece of the steak that was just delicious.
"Oh, sure! Love you," he said with hanging up on her to be watching the TV with another report of a murder of a local Marine officer found down by the Mariner with two shots to his head as if he's been executed. This story had gotten his interest in sitting up.
He needed to grab his phone again to call Director Leon Vance to find out just what is going on with the Marine being shot. However, it was late and had no idea whether it was a good thing to call him.
Dialing the number...
Director Leon Vance was restless in bed after arriving home an hour ago from work. His girlfriend Melissa once again had to work tonight for a special meeting in her department.
His cell phone sitting on the night table was going off to have him annoyed even though he wasn't able to sleep right now.
"Gibbs, what's wrong to have you calling me at this late hour?"
"I could be saying the same thing to you as well Leon?" he said. "By the way did you hear about that Marine found dead shot down by the mariner?" he needed to know having his curiosity kicking in.
"Yeah, I heard. Doctor Palmer is waiting for the body to arrive. Why are you asking in the first place having to be stuck in the hospital?" he said with slight annoyance with his tire demeanor.
"Just bored mostly Leon. Is it possible to let me know with any updates on the case?"
"Sure enough Gibbs. Good night and try to get some rest if possible?" he responded over the phone hanging up to go back to try and sleep.
