Chapter 46

A loud cracking sound erupted from Emily's house causing everyone inside to jump and look towards the source of the noise.

Anabelle laughed from her seat at the sight of Quil holding a single Jenga piece while all the others were scattered on the table. "You lose Quil. Again." Anabelle cackled.

"Quiwy lose!" Claire squealed, clapping her hands together happily. "Agin agin?"

"You want to play again Claire?" Anabelle asked before the little girl nodded fervently. "Ok, help me grab all the blocks ok?" Just then, Anabelle's phone rang causing her to get up. "I'll be right back." She told Claire. "Help her." She then directed at Quil.

She quietly walked out of the room and into the bathroom, hoping no one could hear her before answering the call. "Hello."

"Hey, honey. Sorry, is this a bad time?" Jacob asked.

"No, no, it's a great time. I just finished a game of Jenga with Quil and Claire."

"Claire?"

"Oh I'm sorry, you don't know about her. A lot has happened in the 2 weeks you've been gone." She chuckled. "Do you want me to tell you about it?"

"Yes, of course. If you're not busy."

"Ok, just give me a minute." She opened the door before walking out and up the stairs, into her bedroom. "Ok, I'm out of earshot. I don't want those animals out there listening in."

She heard Jacob chuckle before saying, "Now, tell me about this Claire. Is she from the Rez?"

"Not exactly." She replied, "Claire is Emily's niece. Her sister's daughter."

"I thought her niece was like two."

"She is," Anabelle assured him. "We were all surprised when it happened, the day after you called me last week. Claire came on a visit that day and when Quil came back from patrol, he imprinted on her. It was a little strange at first but once we saw that Quil had no ill intentions, everyone calmed down a bit. She's very taken to him. Even calls him Quiwy. It's adorable."

"Sounds very exciting. Another imprint." Jacob chuckled.

"Two imprints," Anabelle said before covering her mouth. She did not mean to say that.

"Wait, what? Two imprints?" Jacob asked.

"I didn't mean to say that." Anabelle muttered. "Ok, look I'll tell you, but you can't say anything, you hear me?"

"Honey, it's not like a can. I'm miles away right now. Maybe I can tell the rabbits and deer running amuck."

"That's not funny." She noted

"Sorry." He apologized. "Go on."

"Seth imprinted the night before you called me. The guys, Leah, and I went to a party on the beach and that's when it happened." Anabelle explained vaguely.

"Who is she? Is she from the Rez? Or Forks?"

"HIS name is Ethan and he's from Forks." She told him. "I met him at the party we went to when he asked me to dance." She could hear the growl erupting from Jacob's chest but ignored it. "And Seth was with me so I introduced him to Seth. That's when it happened and he spilled the truth to me. He's gay, and all this time I never knew."

Jacob was silent for a few seconds before speaking. "That makes so much sense now."

"What?"

"I'm saying that makes sense. Honey, has Seth ever had a girlfriend? No. Do you know of anyone he had a crush on? No. And did he watch all of Downton Abbey in a week? Yes. Did he proceed to watch the film opening night? Yes. Yes he did."

"OK, but that doesn't mean he's gay. Look at me, you wouldn't have been able to tell."

"Honey, I figured it out the first time you played music in my garage." Jacob told her.

"What?"

"You played Avril Lavigne. THE WHOLE TIME." Anabelle laughed before blushing.

"I didn't think you knew." She told him.

"I know everything about you, Anabelle Lahote. And I love you. Nothing will change that. My heart only belongs to you."

"I love you too. You have my heart, J." She replied.

Anabelle slowly walked up the steps of the Cullen mansion, happy to be getting out of the house for a bit. She wasn't even at the door when Rosalie opened it and dragged her inside and made her sit on the couch. "Let me walk in Rose damn."

"Sorry. I'm just excited. This came in the mail today." Anabelle looked down at the package she placed on her lap. Her eyes widened when she saw that it was from Make-A-Wish America.

"Why did you get it?" She asked.

"I told Carlisle, it might be best that I help you handle everything. Because your father...works so much." Anabelle nodded. Her father had been absent these last few weeks because of a summer retreat that his work needed him at. Apparently, they needed experienced workers to help train and mentor the newbies.

"I completely forgot about this." Anabelle revealed. "I've just been so caught up with J leaving and school I haven't had time to think about it."

"Well you'll have some time for all of this. This packet is just to explain the rules and what Make-A-Wish is limited to. I want you to take this home, fill out what you need to then send it back. After that, you just let me do the rest ok?" Anabelle nodded before biting her lip. "What's wrong sweetheart? I thought you were happy about this. Is it that I described your condition as a critical illness? Because you're going to be fine."

"No it's not that." Anabelle replied. "It's just, this wasn't how I pictured this. My dad is on a summer retreat, J is gone and I'm just so overwhelmed with school an-"

"Hey, calm down." Rosalie said, rubbing her back and soothing her nerves. "I know your dad and Jacob are gone but this doesn't have to happen until you want it to. You have until you're 18 to make your wish. But all I'm asking you to do is look over and get some ideas, brainstorm them, ok?"

Anabelle nodded before thanking Rosalie. "I really appreciate what you do for me, Rose. It's easy to talk to you about anything. I'm glad you were assigned to me at the hospital."

"Yeah well, when Carlisle first asked me for help, I thought you would be bratty. But, luckily you turned out to be NOT like your brother." Anabelle laughed at that before shrugging.

"Paul's not so bad, he just has a hard time controlling his anger, that's all. He's had a pretty shitty life. His mom left when he was barely a year old, and he's had to basically raise me while my dad makes money for all three of us. Not to mention that he's a wolf. I can't imagine how hard and draining that is."

"Well, I just wanted to give you the packet and let you know that you have time, sweet girl. Ok?" Anabelle nodded, holding the pack tightly to her chest and giving Rose a soft smile.

"That was so disgusting!" Akilah cried walking across the street with Jacob by her side. "Who in the bloody hell decided to make a wall where people just placed their chewed gum on. So bloody disgusting."

Jacob laughed loudly before opening the door to the McDonald's and letting Akilah walk in. "I mean, you did circle it on the map last week. Clearly you wanted to see it. And, not to mention, you chewed gum and put it on the wall."

"That's not the point." She replied before turning to the cashier to order their food. "Hi, can I have three double quarter pounders, plain and dry, two big macs, no tomato, no onion and 6 large fries. Along with two large cokes." Jacob snickered at the poor cashier who was quickly clicking buttons on the screen while Akilah was speaking.

"Any sauces?" The cashier meekly asked.

"Ranch and barbecue, please."

After their food was ready, Jacob helped Akilah bring it to an empty booth before where they sat down. "So," Akilah prompted. "What did you talk to her about today? Does she know when you're at and when you're coming home."

"She knows that I'm ok but I just let her talk the whole time. Apparently I have missed a lot. Two imprints. My cousin, Quil, imprinted on Emily's niece. Claire."

"And she's two?" Akilah asked, reading Jacob's mind. "Is that...like is that...uh…"

"No it's not like that. Belle told me that it's just a protective stage. Big brother protection. There's nothing romantic about their relationship. Total platonic friendship."

"And the other one? Who is the other imprint?"

"Seth Clearwater, one of the youngest we've had. He imprinted...on a guy. His name's Ethan, and he goes to another high school. Belle was surprised when she found out, but I uh...I kind of always knew." Jacob chuckled. "Yeah, I always knew. It might be because I caught him checking me out a few years ago on the beach…" he muttered. "But I always knew."

Akilah laughed at Jacob's scrunched up expression, loving how he spoke about his friends back home. They finished their food in silence after that, with light chit chat about where they were going on their road trip for the next week.

Jacob groaned when Akilah spoke about more national parks she was hoping to visit. "What's with the groan mister?"

"I just thought we'd go someplace more fun. Like a water park or the beach. I think I've had my fill of national parks. Please tell me there's a water park on the way home."

Akilah gave him a bored expression before taking out her map and looking at the area they were traveling to go to Forks. "Well there's a waterpark near this place named Tacoma."

"We're in Everett right now so we'll have to go past Seattle in order to get there. We can travel along the lakes running through then travel across them and get to Forks that way."

"You're the expert." Akilah told him, making Jacob chuckle and smile. "So, have you thought about your mate and what you coming back means?"

Jacob shook his head. "Hopefully she'll take me back. I've been a real asshole. I don't honestly know what's going to happen. She'll be going back to school, real school in more than a month. And we'll barely see each other considering when I get back, Sam will rip me a new one for leaving. But I have a plan, " He said, "sort of."

"It looks like it includes begging for forgiveness and being her servant for however long she deems necessary." Akilah read, looking into Jacob's mind and saying what she saw.

"Basically." He replied.

"Well, kudos to you for taking the step and going home in the first place. Yes, you did run from your problems, but...you're making your way back. That has to count for something."

Jacob nodded solemnly, "Yeah. I just hope I can do enough."

Anabelle groaned before slamming her textbook closed and dropping her head on the table, exhausted from all the work she had for the week. She was so mentally drained, that everyone was starting to worry about her. She was like a zombie, working overnight on projects, worksheets, essays, all so she could pass her classes with flying colors.

Every single week, she would work, work, work until she felt ready to take her unit tests in all 4 core subjects before working through the next unit. She would spend more of her time at Billy's though, cooking for him and learning the legends in a more in depth way. She practically lived with him. It started a week ago, 3 weeks after Jacob ran away.

*One week ago*

"That sure was a spectacular dinner sweet girl." Billy praised eating his last bite of lasagna. Anabelle smiled brightly, glad to see Billy enjoying himself.

"Thank you Billy. I already put the TV on, the Mariners start in 20 minutes."

"Perfect time to call the chief over." He said, rolling away and into the living room. Anabelle shook her head before turning to the sink and washing the dishes she used, making sure the kitchen was clean so Billy didn't have to worry about it.

After she was done, she walked down the hallway to the bathroom when something caught her eye. She turned her head to the left, seeing Jacob's bedroom door open and his little room window slightly opened ajar. Curious, Anabelle walked over to it before slowly walking in. Most of Jacob's things were scattered throughout the room like shirts and shorts, papers on his little bedside table and CDs stacked in a little pile.

She looked over to the little radio he kept in his room and clicked the play button before laying down on his bed and closing her eyes, letting herself listen to the song. It was the song she first sang to him in the rabbit on the way to school. The one she sang that made him tell her she sang beautifully.

Corazon sin cara.
