3rd P.O.V

Jehu was taking deep breaths as he glanced at his reflection in the bathroom. His hair slicked back from the sweat pouring down his face. May came strolling in with a blazing entrance. Scorching the skies with a bright sun and an atrocious amount of humidity. Leaving him to become a puddle of agony.

Already he was not looking forward to the summer if it was this bad now. He was not at all the definition of sexy right now, and that was a problem as he went about wiping himself down with a wet washcloth. He cursed the weather and could only hope the heat died down when he left later on in the evening.

Mother Nature be damned she was NOT going to ruin his night out with Haou! It was their five month anniversary. And their destination was the beach. A late night stroll, gazing at the stars, and Haou swimming without the discomfort from people staring at his scars.

It was going to be perfect and no one was going to tell Jehu Anderson anything else! Still he couldn't stop the nervous jitters coursing through his body. He doesn't even know why he was anxious in the first place. They've gone on several dates at this point.

They were so domestic and sappy that their friends kept joking that they should get hitched already. Or in Atticus's case the sleazy flirt-take their relationship to the next level. Was the relationship perfect?

Arguatively yes, because though they fought over things and had a serious amount of hiccups even before getting together, they still loved each other with no issues. Jehu was fully content with how things were. His fingers tapped on the porcelain sink as his face flushed, it not being from the heat this time.

A particular memory flashing in his mind. They had gotten very close to crossing that line(stupid Atticus-what was with him and sex?!) back when Haou first ran into Chazz, and they stopped before things could go too far but..."NOPE!" Jehu plunged his face in the sink with the cold tap on.

Practically drowning himself as he mentally erased his best friend and wingman(not by his choice) from his thoughts. "Haou is not ready for that. I'm not ready for that. Stop thinking about it. And buzz off you annoying little gnats." Those stupid whispers were back to torment him.

However now Atticus has joined the fray, fluttering around his ears with Yoko and Alexis shouting encouragements. He needed new friends. Ones that didn't throw their two cents in his love life only to become invisible devil advocates. He swore they should write a book or two.

'101 ways to screw with your friends' or 'Things to Not do to hook your friends up in a relationship.' They'd probably make good money. Harsh knocks brought him out of his mental turmoil. "Jehu are you done? I need to pee!"

Sighing the elder boy grabbed a towel, giving his face and hair a quick dry before wrapping it around his waist. Leaving so Johan could rush in. "Finally!" The door is quickly slammed shut, making the teen snort as he left for his bedroom.

It wasn't going to take him long to get ready. His hair was impossible to tame so brushing wasn't needed. He was going in his swimming trunks and a blue and black button up. There was hardly anything to pack either.

Other then the keys to his moms' car which she practically threw his way when hearing they were going out, all he was bringing was a flashlight, towel, his guitar and jacket in case it got cold. That was it. They weren't even getting food while they were out. Haou offered to cook before they made their way to the beach.

Saving on time and money. Not to mention his meals were ten times better then any restaurant they would've gone to anyways. It seemed perfect, it was going to be perfect so why was he freaking out?! With a groan he collapsed on his bed, his hands outstretched over his head as he frowned.

His fingers barely brushed the bag that he left on his pillow. The possible cause of his frustration. It was five months of them being officially together, far longer if they counted their little dance of denial. So Jehu wanting to be that kind of guy got Haou a gift.

The problem was it was an absolute impulse buy and now he's not sure to give it to him. Was he rushing this? He knew for a fact he was a clingy kiss maniac at this point. Practically attached to his boyfriend by the hip.

So the whole...idea of marriage thing didn't sound too stupid when he was going out with the guys to the mall. All of them split up to get food, and while waiting his turn in line, found a vender selling jewelry. One of the rings laying on the display catching his eye.

It wasn't too expensive either since it was fake silver. Especially compared to the other things the guy was selling. But giving this to Haou...on their anniversary-to anyone with a brain and a sense of romance would take it as a proposal.

It wasn't Jehu's intention at all(right now anyways) "What are you doing?" With a shout Jehu fell off the bed, landing head first. "Haou you're early!" His boyfriend gives him a deadpanned look, merely pointing to the alarm clock sitting comfortably on the nightstand. "I'm on time."

Huffing the brunette crosses his arms, his eyes narrowing as Jehu kept his gaze on him. Taking in his black shirt and red swimming trunks. He looked good. Really good. Haou snapped his fingers a few times, getting his boyfriend's attention.

"Eyes up here moron." Nervously chuckling the bluenette got up off the floor. His lover sighs, more than used to his antics. "I'll be in the kitchen. Anything in particular you want?" It was the wrong question to ask as Jehu grabbed his shirt.

Pulling it over his head. "Other then you?" Haou was tempted to throw something at him as he received a small hum. "How about something you like? Don't think I haven't caught you choosing non Japanese cuisine every time you've cooked for me or the family."

A blush formed on his cheeks as he looked away, scowling. "I could just not prefer Japanese food. Just because I lived there doesn't mean I automatically like it." It was a good rebuttle, but Jehu easily had a counter.

"That's not what Tome or Yami said. Not to mention i've seen kanji lables in the fridge and cabinets in your house." Damn them all. "They're biased. They lived in Japan for a period of time as well." Jehu caught him, throwing a cocky smirk his way.

Even though the banter was absolutely stupid. "I thought you just said that not all Japanese people like Japanese food?" He laughed as Haou pouted, for once defeated in their little argument.

Quick strides brought him in front of the sulky boy, before wrapping his arms around his thin frame. Nuzzling him affectionately. "Make you're favorite dish, or something you liked while living there. I want this to be about you." It was the least the bluenette felt he could do.

However Haou had a counter of his own in the harmless little debate they were having. Trying to smooth out the wrinkles in the blue fabric. "It shouldn't be about just me. A date on our anniversary should be about US. Equals. How about we compromise? I'll make something we both like and share the portions?"

There was a reason that Haou was considered the brains in the relationship. Jehu could only chuckle. "Sounds good. Would you like music to accompany you while you work? I happen to know one hell of a good musician who could sweep you off your feet." They shared a laugh as they got moving.

He went deeper and deeper towards the dark depths. A small gasp released from Haou's lips as a wave splashed around him, hitting his bare chest. It wasn't cold per say, but the sensation was new. He's never gone to the beach, even when he was little.

So to smell the salty sea and feel the power of the waves was an experience he's never had before. It was even more breathtaking with the stars and crescent moon watching him from above. Illuminating the night so they could still see.

Jehu was sitting at the sandy shore while tuning Saphire Pegasus, his face softening as the ring on Haou's finger flashed in the dark. Still awestruck at the fact that Haou didn't freak out and even accepted the ring.

Knowing full well of the implications it could mean as the confident brunette put it purposely on his left ring finger. Stating that even if Jehu had no intentions of marrying him in the future, it saved the trouble dealing with people trying to hit on him. Jehu wasn't sure if he should dance, kiss the boy senseless or faint.

Miraculously he didn't do the third one, which though would've been hilarious also would've meant endless teasing material as well as him losing what manly pride Jehu had left. Haou had gifted him new strings and accessories to better maintain his guitar. Bonuses when compared to accepting Jehu's gift.

Up until they reached the kitchen and on the first chord one of the strings snapped...now eternally grateful for his boyfriend's consideration while Haou shook his head. Jehu had it replaced in no time, and now was currently racking his brain for a song that he felt was appropriate for the romantic atmosphere.

Just like he anticipated there was no one here, giving Haou full rein to swim without stress of judgmental stares or feeling self-conscious. Though Axel and Hassleberry were one of the few who felt Haou had nothing to be ashamed of.

To them scars show the struggle for survival, stating instead that those should be marks to take pride in. Haou...wasn't really sure about their reasoning, but he supposed it was the fact they were raised as soldiers in their home. That it was a military thing.

Still he could breathe easy as he floated on his back, completely mesmerized with the world around him. At least before a wave snuck up on him and pulled him down. The moment ruined with him coughing from sea water invading his lungs he waded back to shore.

Shaking his hair before sitting down next to the musician of the night. Him already pushing his precious instrument away from the access droplets. "Having fun?" Jehu nodded, giving a swift peck on the lips.

"Most definitely. Wish I had a camera for that wipeout though." Not one to take such teasing lying down, he pushed his lover, smiling innocently as the bluenette took a sharp exhale as Haou let himself drip dry on the other's warm body.

Though he refused to get up, liking Haou hovering over him with a face of pure adoration. Their fingers interlaced together. "Are you sure you want to babysit the brats alone next month? I can always cancel."

Gold eyes rolled as their owner got comfortable laying down on top of firm muscle. His chin planted on his arms nestled against Jehu's chest, sighing in absolute satisfaction as fingers danced across his back. Warmth radiating off the calloused tips.

"Positive. Atticus has been complaining non stop at me that you need to go. And I think you should let loose a little." Jehu didn't Want to let loose at all if he were honest. He was perfectly content in being a good little boy and spending time with his annoying siblings and boyfriend.

Especially since the last time Atticus dragged him out to go party at a club or wherever he ended up ingesting alcohol that left his mother scrubbing soap in his mouth for what felt like hours as punishment. And before That he ended up catching his old man having a good time with another woman.

Nothing good came for him going out, like out out when Atticus and the guys were involved. It being worse at the fact that Haou refused to enter that kind of scene. He hated stupidity, and he hated crowds. Putting them together with alcohol alongside loud upbeat music made him shudder away completely.

Jehu was fully intending to use his family as an excuse. With summer coming up meant a spike in idiocy and that meant more poor fools going to the hospital. And that meant more hours for his mother, Jennifer. And That of course led to the twins needing to be watched.

Not that Haou was letting him get out of it. "Do I have to? I don't have fun going." His reply is a simple snort. "Then make it fun-just don't go fooling around with any floozies." Amber flashed as he sat up, his stare determined and full of undoubted loyalty as he held Haou.

Forcing their gazes to lock in place. "Never." He wasn't going to fall into the same patterns of his old man. He refused to follow in his footsteps. Whether the question of Haou being 'the one' was contrary(shut up Yoko!) Cheating shouldn't be a thing in a decent relationship. Period. "Jehu?"

Damp locks tilted to the side as Haou cupped his cheek, clearly seeing his pain. "I love you Haou. Nothing will come between that. You have my word." With half lidded eyes their mouths met. Savoring the moment.

Before a light came into their field of vision. Blinding them temporarily. "Alright kids that's enou-Jehu!? The hell you doing?" Jehu raised a hand over his wincing eyes, only to scowl as Officer Anderson and another uniformed guy approached them.

"What does it look like? We're on a date! Now if you could just go that'd be great." Haou was blushing, scurrying off his boyfriend to grab his shirt. Embarrassed beyond belief. It didn't help that both policemen got a good glimpse at the white markings.

Both adults wondering what the brunette went through to have so many scars. The question wasn't brought up, as Daniel had bigger concerns. "Does your mother even know you're here?" Ohh he hated him so much right now.

Ruining the moment just wasn't bad enough. But he thought he could be the big bad dad on top of bringing her into this? "As a matter of fact she does. She even threw her car keys at me the moment I told her!"

Daniel's partner steps forward, taking in the little set up they got going on. A soft blanket covering the sand, seashells piled up at the corner. Sand mountains and drawings surrounding the area. Were he not on patrol duty he would've just left the two be to their business.

But unfortunately he couldn't let them stay. Though he said nothing, figuring he'd just let the other male take charge. "You kids shouldn't be here, the beach closed ages ago!" The seventeen year old stood up, his arm pushing towards the sea. Everyone's direction following his pointed finger.

Silhouette of boats leisurely floating a distance away easily seen. "Then what about the people who come here to fish? Or do nighttime strolls! And I know for a fact we're not the only ones who come here to swim when its dark either. I don't see any sirens after them!" Daniel growled, his face red.

Just what was his son thinking?! This wasn't the time for him to pick a fight. They needed to leave, now. "Didn't I tell you there was a series of dangerous break ins around town? Emphasis on 'Dangerous!' In general no one should be out and about."

It was the reason why so many police officers were patrolling the area. The individual(s) were getting bolder, more violent. It was only a matter of time before someone got badly hurt.

"Yeah in neighborhoods full of people tucked in bed. Not here. And we weren't even going to stay here too long." Daniel groaned, frustrated. "You and your 'friend' need to get your asses home. Now!" Jehu glared, his fist clenched.

How dare he try controlling him? Cop or not, father or not-he couldn't boss him around like this. Especially when his actual parent, his mother gave him permission. There was no law stating that he couldn't go out at night.

Nor was there a rule stating you weren't allowed to come to the fucking beach after the sun goes down. "Come on Jehu." He felt a slight tug on his arm. Making him look down. Haou had his shirt back on, tight on his body from him still being wet.

Disappointment and shame were in those gold irises but Haou still tried to smile. "Let's go home." He didn't want the night to end on such a sour note like this. It was only a matter of time before both father and son take things too far.

Especially with his fellow officer stiff with disdain. He'd rather they not push their luck. "Fine." Tension leaked as he sighed, grabbing his stuff. Haou could feel Daniel's disappointment oozing through his face.

Though he wasn't sure exactly which of the two possible reasons it could be. Was it was due to them being a couple? Or from the fact they were found in what looked like an intimate position in the middle of night at an empty beach? He in all honesty couldn't tell. Either way...he was just done.

Having humiliated himself enough for one day. And Jehu was seething as he picked up his things. His anniversary was ruined! By his bastard of a father of all people. Even worse Haou was depressed because of it. Wanting to hide away from the scrutinizing the two policemen were doing.

Oh he could see the looks on his dad's partner and it left him tempted to give them the middle finger. "Get home safe you two." Now Jehu actually did give his father the middle finger, pulling Haou with him. "Fuck off old man." Mr. Anderson watched his friend snarl as he was held back.

Ready to blow his top. "Say that again you annoying brat! Wanna have your ass arrested!?" Haou pushed the taller teen away, both him and Daniel cursing under their breath. "No thank you! Have a good evening."

Jehu's father gave them just enough time for Haou to drive off before releasing the angry man standing before him. Crow liked kids, but ohh that particular teen pushed his buttons. Yeah he could see why he was pissed, but man!

"I swear I better not run into them again. How dare he treat us like that?! We were only trying to keep them safe! The ungrateful son of a bitch." This is why Daniel hated working in pairs. "My ex wife's not a bitch Crow. Chill out." Still he wasn't surprised with either of their reactions.

He was just glad Jehu's boyfriend took the assertive to listen. Even if he didn't know him, he had enough sense clearly to keep his son out of trouble. "Come on. We got more important things to do. Like finding that missing kid that disappeared the other day. He was last seen walking around here before his house got broken into."

To be continued
