Act 4: Reunions Saga
Chapter 46: Exhibition Match
Gallance
The Pit was on the opposite side of the city from the palace. Tarble led his new guests through the sky, over the sprawling metropolis below that was Gallance. It reminded the visitors of cities on Earth, with a sort of futuristic vibe. It gave Vegeta a little nostalgia for cities on Planet Vegeta: Gallance was like a hybrid between both.
Paragus and Broly had flown ahead to prepare for the fight, and Tarble and company arrived a little while later. Gummo was the only one who didn't go with them, deciding to go back to the ship and do maintenance on it. Tarble led everyone else to The Pit, and led them through the building and downstairs into the arena proper. It was crowded, and would've been difficult to navigate had Tarble not been there. But they were getting the VIP treatment as it was because they were entering first. Finally, they stepped into the arena, passing through the curtain and into the seating area.
"Wow! Look at how big this place is!" Said an awestruck Gohan as he looked around the large underground arena.
"The building doesn't do it justice." Commented Bardock.
"Yeah." Tarble said. "The theatre upstairs is pretty large, but confined to its location. The only reason The Pit is so big is because it's underground. The old owner of the theater ran an illegal fight pit. It was gonna be closed down, but Paragus bought it and turned it into a legitimate fighting outfit."
"Hmrph. Sounds like an excuse to flex his son's power." Vegeta said.
Tarble led his entourage down to a special section in the front row. It was the VIP section, and thankfully it was big enough for everyone. They all sat down, and individually were studying The Pit. The sandy floor, the two tunnels at each side of the floor, the walls with the pylons on top. Moments later, people started filing into the arena, and the seats were filling up fast.
Vegeta glanced up at the incoming spectators and scowled a bit. He looked at Tarble and raised an eyebrow. "The place doesn't seem safe enough for a battle involving a Saiyan."
"Don't worry, Vegeta." Tarble replied. He gestured to the pylons. "These cast a powerful barrier, and the building was constructed with our power in mind."
"Hmrph. I wasn't worried." Vegeta said dismissively.
"So Broly is your strongest warrior?" Bardock asked.
"Yeah." Tarble replied. "Broly's always had an abnormally high power level. Paragus said he was born like that."
"Is that why my father exiled him?" Vegeta asked.
Tarble looked at Vegeta curiously. "I'm surprised you didn't know about that."
"I was already working for Frieza by then, hence why I'm asking."
Tarble sighed. "That's what Paragus told me. He said that father thought he was 'too dangerous', and would do more harm than good."
"A Saiyan that powerful could have only been a benefit." Vegeta snapped, then shook his head. "How foolish, we could've been rid of Frieza a lot sooner."
Tarble only sighed in response. He felt like he needed to get his brother alone since he'd been mostly dismissive and cranky since arriving. It gave off the impression that he would've agreed with their father's decision, so this response was a bit unexpected.
As the seats filled up, Matto and Luffa talked amongst themselves about the upcoming fight. Gohan was telling Goku stories to Gine, most of which made her laugh. Piccolo silently observed and studied everyone. Sheamus sat in the seat furthest away to the left and just thought to himself. He was distant from everything else going on around him, he felt like he didn't belong. The only saving grace for him was that he was safe from IVA. They were in the future, so they couldn't hurt him. But that conflicted with his thoughts of how pointless being alive was anymore because he lost everything.
Luffa and Matto were sitting next to Gine on the other side of Bardock and Gohan. They weren't paying much attention to the conversation, but Matto was annoyed about it. Luffa wasn't sure what the problem was, but was getting annoyed that her brother kept briefly scowling at them.
"What is your problem?" Luffa said.
Matto looked at her with a scowl. "You can't really be okay with this. You know things are gonna be different now, don't you?"
"You used to think he was cool when Miss Gine would talk about him." She paused and gasped, then narrowed her eyes at him. "Are… you jealous?" Luffa asked with a snide grin.
Matto's scowl changed to a look of awe, his cheeks flushed. He blinked a few times, then shook his head and hunched forward to hide his face.
"No, I just like things the way they are." He said.
"You are, you're jealous." Luffa teased.
"Shut up, Luffa." Matto snapped, as quietly as he could.
"Hey." Gine said, startling the boy as he sat straight up. "What's wrong?"
Matto huffed and leaned forward with his elbows on his thighs, head resting on his hands. "Nothing. I'm fine."
Gine gave him a curious look, then looked at Bardock and leaned towards his ear. "He's jealous." She whispered.
Bardock chuckled, then placed an arm around her and sat back in his chair. The arena was almost to capacity, and the lighting started to change. Spotlights from the ceiling started panning all around the arena, the lights that kept the arena floor lit were on, the pylons were powering up: the show was about to begin.
Soon, a voice came over the PA system, hyping up the crowd and advertising the scheduled fights. There were four fights, three of which were ranked battles between Vortanian and Saiyan fighters looking to challenge Broly in the future. The fourth fight was Broly's, where he'd defend his status as Pit Fighting Champion. The first three fights went on to the roar of the crowd, but didn't impress much across the VIP section. After the battles they'd been in, these fights looked like child's play. But match four was a different story.
"Ladies and gentlemen, up next is your main event of the evening!" Said the Pit announcer, standing in the center of the arena.
"Finally." Said an impatient Vegeta.
A classical sounding melody started playing over the PA, and the lights dimmed, with spotlights aimed at one of the tunnels. The door rolled up, and through the tunnel walked a tall, hulking Vortanian man, skin light blue, short black hair and a neatly kept goatee. He was wearing red pants and white boots with black gloves on his hands. He walked across the Pit floor while the music blared and the lights panned all around.
The announcer brough the mic to his mouth. "Introducing first, fighting out of the suburbs of Gallance, Zeke 'The Destroyer'!"
The towering Zeke stopped, glanced at the announcer, then looked all around at the audience. The reaction was mixed, he knew people wanted to see Broly, but he wasn't lacking in confidence.
Then, a heavy metal song started blaring over the PA, the lighting changed and everything was a dim red, while the spotlights shone on the other tunnel. The door rolled up, steam rolled out, and walking through that steam was the man of the hour, Broly. He didn't indulge in the roar of the audience, he kept his cold eyes locked onto his opponent.
The announcer brought the mic back up. "And his opponent, fighting out of Gallance, with a record of 399 and 0, your reigning and defending Pit Fighting Champion, BROOOOOOLY!"
Broly walked across the Pit floor until he was ten feet away from his opponent. He stopped, and still had his eyes locked on him. Unlike Chazz, Zeke was a whole head taller than Broly, and was bulkier as well. Zeke didn't let this get to him though, everyone knew Broly's reputation, but Zeke was looking to hand Broly his first loss.
The announcer proceeded to explain the rules, then the lights in the arena dimmed, leaving the floor illuminated for the fight. The referee entered The Pit and got between the fighters, and once the announcer was out, he blew the air horn, which sent the crowd ballistic again.
"Wow, they love him don't they?" Gohan observed as he looked around at all the seemingly rabid fans.
"It's obnoxious." Vegeta commented.
"They're having fun, Vegeta." Tarble replied.
On the floor, Zeke was in a fighting stance while Broly just stood quietly. Zeke was calm, and wasn't letting Broly's apathetic demeanor get under his skin. He knew that once the fight got going, he was going to be a different person.
"I hope you don't mind if I make the first move, champ." Zeke said with a grin.
Broly didn't respond. Zeke then rushed towards him quickly, phasing out, then phasing in mid air in front of Broly. He was mid-kick, but Broly reacted immediately by putting his arm up and blocking it. Broly pushed his leg back and went to punch him, but Zeke narrowly avoided it as he swayed back. Zeke retaliated with a right hook of his own, but Broly caught his arm and swung him over his head, thrashing him into the ground.
They phased out, and shockwaves erupted from all over The Pit. The barrier surrounding the pylons was only visible upon impact, and it lit up in several places during this skirmish. Soon, Zeke phased in on the ground, skidding backwards while his boots left fissures in the ground. He soon stopped, but no sooner was met by Broly phasing in, nailing Zeke with a clothesline and carrying him into one of the pit walls. Zeke cried out in pain upon impact, spitting up and launching saliva against his will. Broly stepped away from his larger opponent, who then dropped to his hands and knees while hyperventilating.
"You should stay down." Broly said while looking down at his opponent.
Zeke chuckled through his labored breaths. "Nah, that's not my style."
Zeke quickly launched himself at Broly, looking for a right hook to his gut, but Broly phased out, then back in above Zeke's head. He drop kicked him in the back of the head and drove his face into the Pit floor. Then, he stepped away and the referee rushed over to start his count.
"Oh, it's over!" Matto excitedly exclaimed.
And he was right. The referee decisively counted to ten, then blew the air horn again. The crowd went ballistic, cheering and chanting "Broly" at the top of their lungs. This fight definitely entertained, but it left Bardock and Vegeta perplexed as they were studying Broly's ki activity during the fight.
It seems like he knows how to control his ki like we can. Thought Vegeta while he rubbed his chin. The others don't seem that adept at it, and they still use scouters to read power levels.
Bardock leaned forward and had a suspicious grin on his face. His power is definitely suppressed, that other guy was going all out.
Gine noticed her husband's expression and raised an eyebrow. "What are you smiling at?"
Bardock chuckled. "I kinda want to fight him."
He had a cornucopia of reactions directed at him. Gine, Luffa and Tarble looked at him in shock, Gohan and Piccolo were casually smiling at him, Sheamus and Trunks looked at him like he was nuts, Vegeta rolled his eyes, and Matto scoffed.
"You think you can beat Broly?" Matto said obnoxiously.
Bardock glanced at the young boy next to his wife and grinned, then looked down at the Pit. Broly was standing in the center, looking up at the VIP section.
"I'm not looking to beat him, I just want to see where his strength is compared to ours." Bardock explained.
Tarble looked up at him curiously. "You can use my scouter if you want."
Vegeta snorted at this, drawing his brother's attention. "Oh please, we don't need to use scouters. We've learned how to sense energy."
Tarble lightly gasped at this, then looked at all of his new guests. He received simple nods from all of them. This concept was foreign to him, and it blew his mind.
"And, little brother, I can tell you that Broly is hiding a great deal of his power." Vegeta added.
Tarble looked down at Broly. He knew he was strong, but if Vegeta was right, he wondered just how strong he actually was.
"Ki control is important, especially if you're trying to keep hidden from scouters, or people that can sense ki, like us." Piccolo said. "It's fascinating that Broly can control his ki, but nobody else seems to know how."
"Which is how we figured out where to land, by the way." Said Bardock. "Just followed the highest concentration of Saiyan power signatures."
Tarble nodded. "I see." He looked down at the Pit and saw Paragus joining his son in the center. Huh, does that mean he's STRONGER than we thought? This could end badly…
Bardock looked passed Tarble and at Vegeta. "You can test his strength first, if you want."
Vegeta scoffed at Bardock. "No thanks."
"See, even the fabled Prince Vegeta knows not to challenge Broly." Said a cocky Matto.
Vegeta glanced at the adolescent Saiyan briefly. "No, I just don't want to embarrass him in front of my brother."
This left Matto flabbergasted, who then rolled his eyes and looked at the arena floor. Tarble looked at Vegeta curiously for a moment, then at Bardock. "Do you really want to fight him? I mean, right here? I wouldn't mind an encore, I'm sure these people wouldn't either."
Bardock looked at him and nodded. "I know what I'm doing, trust me."
Tarble glanced beyond him at Gine, who looked very concerned, then sighed. "Let me go talk to Paragus for a minute." Tarble then left his seat and flew through the pylons and down into the pit itself to join Paragus and Broly.
Gine was looking at Bardock like he'd lost his mind. "Bardock? I know it's been thirty years, but… I've seen him fight. And I've heard some stories from Tarble." Gine said. Bardock looked at her curiously. "I'm just worried, I don't want you to get hurt already. Or worse."
Bardock smiled at her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Gine, I promise, everything will be fine."
Gine sighed, but hesitantly smiled. She couldn't help it, even though she was terrified of the idea. Soon, Tarble flew back up to the VIP section and landed in front, facing his party. He looked at Bardock and nodded at him.
"Paragus and Broly have accepted your challenge, you're free to fly down there." Tarble said. He turned and sat down in his chair again while Bardock stood up.
"Alright, wish me luck." Bardock joked as he slowly took off.
Matto scoffed. "He's dead."
"Enough, Matto!" Gine exclaimed.
Everyone looked at her awkwardly for a moment, and both her and Matto got red in the face.
They watched Bardock, and Gine sighed and looked over at Tarble. He looked back, and they shared a knowing look. Then, Tarble looked down and sighed. Gine knew of Broly's issues, but hadn't actually seen it for herself.
Tarble on the other hand, had. I hope Broly can stay in control...
Bardock slowly lowered himself to the floor as Zeke was leaving, and as expected, the audience were all confused, and couldn't keep their eyes off of him. Especially since he left from the VIP section. He walked across the pit and reached Broly and Paragus, who were just watching him quietly.
Paragus cleared his throat. "I presume your challenge was an impulsive decision, knowing the general nature of our people."
Bardock smiled and glanced at Broly briefly. "There's more to it than that. Besides, I'm a little rusty. I haven't had a real fight in a little while."
Paragus smiled as well, though with a hint of arrogance. "Well, you'll get one out of my son. But I want you to be aware of-"
"Father." Broly said, cutting Paragus off and drawing a curious gaze. "Just let me fight him."
Paragus blinked a few times and nodded. "Sure, son." He looked at Bardock and gave him a single nod. "Good luck."
Bardock nodded at him, then watched him make his way back towards the tunnel Broly entered the arena through. He then looked around at the crowd as they were starting to get loud again, realizing that they were likely about to get a bonus fight.
The announcer was walking towards them, then stood between them and turned around. He cleared his throat as he looked between the two men, then he looked up at a section of the audience on one side, which was the side the VIP section was on. The lights in the arena dimmed, and the pit was the only place left that was bright.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for an ENCOOOOOOOOOORE!" The fans went absolutely nuts upon the announcement. The announcer turned to Bardock and pulled the mic away from his face. "What's your name?"
"Bardock." Said the new challenger.
The announcer smiled, then brought the mic back up. "Please welcome our new challenger for this exhibition, BARDOCK!"
The audience didn't boo, they simply applauded. Most likely it was because Bardock was a guest of Tarble, and they didn't want to disrespect their leader. The announcer left the arena, and the referee returned to the arena. He looked at the two of them, who both gave him affirmative nods, then pulled out his trusty air horn and blew it.
The audience went crazy again, and Bardock and Broly just stared at each other for a few moments. As the noise from the spectators started to die down, Bardock got into his fighting stance, but Broly just stood there looking at him.
"Why do you want to fight me?" The towering Saiyan asked. Bardock blinked a couple times, but Broly didn't give him time to respond. "Most people aren't in a rush to fight me, yet here you are."
Bardock smiled. "Well, today's been the best day that I've had for as long as I can remember. And I guess seeing you fight gave me the itch."
Broly scowled at Bardock, then glanced at the VIP section briefly. "Is that all?"
"What?"
"I've been watching you since you got here." Broly said. "I've caught you staring at me multiple times. You, and Lord Tarble's brother up there."
Bardock glanced up briefly, specifically looking at Vegeta. He sighed and closed his eyes for a few moments, then made eye contact with Broly. "I can't speak for Vegeta, but I've been studying your ki."
"My ki?" Broly confusedly asked.
"Yeah." Bardock replied. "We can sense power levels. Out of my whole group, Gummo is the only one who can't."
"You can do naturally what our scouters do."
Broly said.
Bardock nodded in response. "By the way you manipulate your ki, I'd say you can sense it too, like I can."
Broly shook his head. "I learned control out of necessity, but I too need a scouter to detect power."
Broly looked down for a moment, and Bardock noticed the necklace he was wearing. It got him thinking, then Broly shifted his eyes away, briefly glancing behind him. Bardock noticed this, and he looked around Broly to see the entrance tunnel in the distance. He saw the window to the right of it, and could barely see Paragus standing behind the glass. Bardock then looked at Broly again. It looked like he was in pain, it felt like he was in pain based on what he felt from his ki.
Bardock looked at him again. "Are you okay? We don't have-"
"Did you come down here to fight, or talk?" Broly said with a scowl, cutting off Bardock.
Bardock looked at him confusedly, but then, Broly phased out, and no sooner was he in front of Bardock, throwing a right hook in his direction. Bardock phased out quickly, narrowly avoiding contact. Broly struck the ground hard, creating a small crater around his hand. Bardock was levitating a ways above him, shock plastered all over his face.
I couldn't even see him! Thought Bardock.
The crowd was going wild, cheering like they had earlier when Broly defeated Zeke. Broly glanced over his shoulder, in the air at Bardock. Then, he rushed into the air and went for a right punch. Bardock ducked, and Broly followed up with a left, which Bardock barely dodged. They phased out again, a few shockwaves erupted, then phased in again. Broly threw a wild right at Bardock mid-air, and Bardock blocked it as he crossed his arms together over his chest. The impact knocked him back, and he landed on his feet on the ground, with enough force to create a small crater around him. Broly was floating in the air above, and Bardock looked up at him and smiled.
Tarble had shock etched across his face. Holy crap… Thought the King's second born. Vegeta chuckled as he looked at his awestruck brother.
Matto was less than pleased with Bardock's performance against Broly. His frustration with this obvious, and Luffa had a devilish smile directed towards her twin brother. All Gine could do was tensely watch.
Bardock uncrossed his arms and returned to his fighting stance. Broly winced at him briefly, then they both phased out again. Several shockwaves erupted, then they both phased in at opposite ends of the pit and charged each other, throwing right hooks at each other. Their fists met, creating another massive shockwave, and a powerful wind gust swept the arena. After a few silent moments, the audience started cheering and applauding while they hovered in the center of the arena.
Bardock let out a few strained chuckles. "I'm not used to fighting with all this noise."
Broly growled, then quickly clasped his hand around Bardock's and pulled him in. It spun him around, and Broly struck Bardock in the back of the head with his forearm. Bardock yelled out in pain and saliva shot from his mouth as the force of the strike forced him to hunch over. He clasped his hands together, then smashed Bardock in the back and sent him flying into the ground. He struck hard, creating another small dent and kicking up dust all around him.
Bardock coughed while struggling to his hands and knees. "Hah… he doesn't care for small talk."
Then, he sensed Broly coming up behind him, and phased out just in time. Broly struck the ground in an attempt to hit Bardock with the same drop kick he beat Zeke with earlier. This made another crater, and Bardock was lying on his side several yards to the right of where Broly landed. Broly glared at him as he crouched in the crater, then dashed at him and started throwing punches at the ground while Bardock rolled away, barely avoiding contact. Finally, Bardock was able to launch himself into the air with his arms, barely avoiding the hardest strike Broly had thrown thus far.
He created a massive crater this time, surrounding Broly, and cracking the ground around the hole he made. Bardock was floating in the air, looking down as Broly made eye contact with him.
"Starting to enjoy yourself, huh?" Bardock taunted.
Broly scowled at him, then opened his right hand. In his palm formed a small green ki sphere. Bardock sensed his power rising quickly, and it felt strange to him. Broly then fired the blast at Bardock, and phased out behind it. Bardock didn't see this, and dodged the blast with ease, striking the wall behind him and exploding in this greenish hue. However, Broly came in from his left and nailed him in the side of the head with a clothesline and carried him straight to the ground. They struck as Broly drove Bardock's head into the ground.
Broly stood up and scoffed, then kicked the downed Saiyan really hard, causing him to shout in pain, sending him flying across the arena floor. He landed and bounced a few times before his body started sliding across the ground. He soon stopped, laying on his side and breathing heavily.
The crowd cheered rabidly, and everyone in the VIP section reacted differently to everything. Gine was worried sick for her husband, and Luffa expressed concern for her. Matto was loving it, with a wide smile on his face while he sat jittery in his chair. Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks and Sheamus were all a bit calmer. They weren't too worried about Bardock's wellbeing. Vegeta was a little concerned about Broly's unusual feeling ki, and Gohan and Piccolo could too sense it from Broly. Trunks and Sheamus weren't locked into that, and more about Broly's manner of fighting. He seemed to adapt to his environment almost instantly, and Trunks and Sheamus wondered about how far that would go. Tarble was worried that Broly was going to tear apart his best friend's husband in front of a packed Pit, which was going to make him feel terrible.
Broly was walking towards Bardock while he was making his way to his feet. He chuckled as the big man approached, and wiped his arm across his face. There was a fresh blood smear on his armband, from a trickle from his mouth.
"Alright, big guy." Bardock said in an amused groan.
He turned his right hand so his palm was facing out, and started channeling his ki. A blue sphere formed in his hand, and grew quickly until it reached the tips of his fingers. Broly simply continued walking, visually unfazed by this.
Bardock chuckled, then drew his right arm back, then thrusted it forward and fired his Riot Javelin ki blast. It hurdled towards Broly, painting the space around it in a blue hue. However, Broly caught the blast in his right hand with ease. Bardock's eyes widened slightly as his opponent held his own attack.
Broly shifted his eyes towards Bardock and cracked a devilish grin. Bardock's ki blast changed from blue to a sickly green with black streaks occasionally passing through it. Bardock sensed the change in the ki, and for the first time, he got seriously worried.
Broly then threw the attack back as hard as he could, which sped through the air and struck with a massive explosion. The whole Pit was illuminated bright green for a few moments, followed by smoke and dust settling in place. Above, Bardock was hovering in relief as he barely avoided the attack.
"Phew… that could've ended poorly." Bardock said awkwardly.
"It still will." Said Broly in a menacing tone from behind, sending chills down Bardock's spine.
Bardock went to attack, but Broly punched him in the spine, bending his body backwards around his fist. Bardock shouted in pain and spat up saliva and blood. Broly chuckled, then spin-kicked him in the back of the head, sending him flying into the ground. Bardock crashed hard, and then Broly started rapidly firing large green ki blasts at him. The first blast made a large explosion, and each one following just added to the mess. The arena was green, smoke was filling up the floor area, and Broly was laughing sadistically as he fired blast after blast. His pupils had vanished, and he was just mindlessly attacking, enjoying every second of it.
Gine was becoming visibly shaken, and Tarble was regretting the decision to let this go. Even Matto was getting unnerved, and Luffa was becoming distraught for Gine and her brother.
"Maybe we should call this off now." Said Tarble.
"You're joking." Vegeta said offendedly. Tarble looked at him curiously, and Vegeta looked simply disgusted. "You're telling me this has got you rattled?"
Tarble sighed and looked down at the ongoing battle. Broly just kept launching blasts, and it was almost to the point where, between the green light and the increasing level of smoke and dust, he couldn't see anything.
Surely, Paragus would stop this if Broly was going too far. Thought Tarble. He looked at his best friend again, and felt consumed by guilt. However, he felt pressured to prove his brother wrong, and remained seated. He had faith in his number two.
Broly charged one final blast, cocked his arm back and launched it with incredible velocity. It flew into the smoke, and moments later, the loud bang of an explosion. The building shook briefly, which knocked loose dust from the walls and floors. Afterwards, then fans all fell into utter silence. Everyone watched quietly, Tarble, Gine, Luffa and Matto all petrified because of what Broly had done. It seemed like he went too far, but Tarble knew the difference between Broly getting frustrated, and Broly losing control.
Tarble sighed. I've seen him go berserk. He doesn't stop when he's like that, I think he's in control. He thought, pausing and briefly glancing a Gine. Paragus will stop it if it goes too far. Broly's in control.
Broly hovered above a slowly dissipating dust cloud with his arms crossed and an apathetic explosion across his face. His pupils had returned, and he was breathing calmly. Inside the locker room, Paragus stood behind the glass, watching his son's battle with a white and red remote control in his hand. His thumb was placed over a red button, but he had yet to press it.
Stay in control, my son. Please don't make me use this. Thought Paragus.
Broly waited patiently for a response from below. The dust cloud was still too thick to see through, but even then, he figured Bardock would've responded with an attack already. Or one of his lame quips at the very least. In the stands, Gine was of a similar thought train.
"If he's okay, why hasn't he come out yet?" Gine said worriedly.
Tarble looked at her briefly, then over at his brother. He huffed and went to turn on his scouter.
"I wouldn't do that, unless you want facial burns when that piece of crap explodes." Vegeta said, stopping his brother dead. He side eyed him, then focused on the dust cloud. "Just wait. You'll see that you've little to worry about."
Tarble focused on the cloud as well, followed by Bardock's worried wife. But Vegeta was right, because he was aware of something that their hosts still weren't. Throughout the duration of this visit so far, one particular subject had miraculously been omitted from every conversation. Vegeta knew it, and so did the others. And as much as he wasn't a fan of Bardock, Vegeta was gonna love the look on Tarble and the other's faces when he reappeared.
Moments later, The Pit began trembling, which slowly crescendoed into an earthquake-like shaking through the whole arena. Broly kept his focus on the cloud below, which was beginning to swirl slowly. The crowd was watching in awe, and some noise was generated by the chatter among them. Then, bright golden streaks of light started shooting out from the cloud, and soon following, the cloud completely dispersed. Wrapped in a bright golden aura, Bardock stood on the ground while his hair stood upright, golden blond and swaying with the wind generated by his power output. The wind itself was intense, blowing outwardly from the Super Saiyan, across the floor and straight up towards the ceiling thanks to the wall, and thankfully The Pit was no longer shaking.
Bardock's emerald-green eyes were locked on Broly, blood trickling from his mouth. His clothes were ruffled up a bit, but other than that, he didn't look injured at all. The champion didn't know what to make of this. He'd never seen anything like it before, and was as confused as he was curious. Bardock simply smiled at he big man floating above him.
In the VIP section, Tarble, Gine, Luffa and Matto all watched with mouths agape. Vegeta glanced over at them with a grin, and Tarble looked back at him moments later.
"Vegeta?..." Tarble said nervously. "What's going on?"
Vegeta simply chuckled and looked back down at the battlefield. Gine was in shock and awe, and her heart was thumping wildly at the sight of Bardock bathed in golden light, blond hair swaying with the wind, standing with an eerie calm intensity. She then looked beside her at Gohan, who was looking at her with a smile. Matto and Luffa looked at each other, blown away by both the fact that Bardock was relatively unfazed by Broly's attack, and this incredible change in his appearance. They both looked at Gohan as well, then Matto nudged his sister as he looked back at Bardock.
"Luffa… I think…" Matto said, pausing from the shock of the realization. Luffa looked at him, then down at Bardock again, then nodded in agreement.
Sheamus and Trunks both smiled, and were entertained by the perplexed expression on Broly's face. Despite his incredible strength, it didn't appear as though he knew what this transformation was. Vegeta looked at Tarble again briefly, then sighed.
"The only thing you have to worry about right now, brother, is Broly's reputation." Vegeta said.
Tarble looked at Vegeta and blinked a few times with his widened eyes. He looked down again and watched as Broly descended slowly to the ground. Broly didn't look too bothered, mostly intrigued. Meanwhile, Paragus watched in utter shock at this transformation from the locker room, with sweat droplets forming by his temples.
Broly uncrossed his arms as he stood across from his opponent, hair being blown around by the wind coming from across the arena. Bardock chuckled a few times and got into his battle stance.
"You wouldn't happen to be a Super Saiyan too, would you?" Bardock inquired with a smirk.
To Be Continued…
