RAW is WAR: 31/5/1999
Off screen
George sighed as he sat on a box in the backstage area of the Mark of the Quad in Moline, Illinois. His mind went to last Monday night, which he did not show up for as he was in Canada with Bret Hart's family after Owen's death at Over the Edge. George was furious he could not go to the hospital during the show as Vince wanted the show to still go on. He refused to show up for last week's RAW is Owen show, which Bret criticised on being less of a tribute show.
Bret blamed Vince McMahon for his brother's death. He "questioned if this was really necessary" and said, "Shame on you, Vince McMahon." He also claimed that the tribute show "reeked of disrespect," stating, "Yes, the so-called tribute where afterward wrestlers point to their crotches and say: 'Suck it!' It makes me nauseous." Other members of the Hart family also blamed Vince McMahon for Owen's death, claiming that the accident was the inevitable outcome of "an obsession for ratings and revenues.
Owen had been a close friend of George's since George arrived to the WWF back in 1997. They had each other's back after the Montreal Screwjob and the negative reactions that came with it along with insults from those who did not like Bret Hart and were glad at how that night at Survivor Series went. George and Owen were even thinking of forming a tag team after SummerSlam and Vince was okay with it.
Clearly life had other ideas.
If that wasn't bad enough, George got a phone call from his parents who demanded he quit, that Owen's death was the proof that wrestling was not his job. George argued with them, getting into the biggest one he has ever been in with his parents at how they dared to use Owen's death just to prove a point. He was then disowned from the family and he can remember the last word he got in.
"I was already disowned when I walked out of this fucking family!"
"Hey man!" George looked up to see Mark (Undertaker) walking over to him, patting him on the shoulder. "You alright? You look down."
"i miss Owen, man." George sighed. Mark said nothing and sat down next to him. "We know what we signed up for, we knew what we were getting ourselves into and risking our bodies when we step into that ring. But this? This is different. I just..."
"Don't let this effect you. Owen wouldn't want that." Mark said softly, placing a hand on George's shoulder. "He would want you to continue on and make him proud. Don't think of quitting because of this."
"I'm not." George shook his head.
"Good." Mark nodded. "I miss Owen too. He was a good friend of mine. He came out to all the bars with me and the others, then you were added and the fun we would all have." Mark chuckled as he remembered memories with Owen. He shook them away and looked at George. "Don't make Owen's death throw you off your game, okay? Go out there, remember who the fuck you are, go out there and show everyone who the fuck you are."
George nodded, Mark's words providing comfort and closure. He looked at him. "thanks Mark, for pulling me out my dark place."
Mark shrugged with a smirk. "This ain't the first time I've had to do it for someone thinking darkly."
RAW is WAR was live at the Mark of the Quad in Moline, Illinois. The upcoming match was The Bladewolf and Kane vs the Acolytes for the WWF World Tag Team Championships.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
Jim Johnston's Dark Side plays as Fire goes off on the stage and the lights change to dark red and dark blue as the Bladewolf and Kane walk out, getting a loud pop from the fans. They had their WWF Tag Team Championships on their shoulders.
"The following tag team contest is scheduled for one-fall and it is for the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Championships!" Tony Chimel announced. "Introducing first, at a combined weight of 636 lbs, they are the World Wrestling Federation World Tag Team Champions...THE BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION!"
"And here comes destruction incarnate." JR said. "These two monsters have been so dominant since reuniting back in January, and they have never lost a match together since then. They have been one of the most impressive tag team duos and champions I have ever seen."
"No team can destroy these two." Jerry shook his head. "You'll have a better chance at becoming President than taking those titles away from these two."
Bladewolf and Kane enter the ring, Kane raising his arms and throwing them down to summon fire from the turnbuckles while Bladewolf takes off his trench coat and dumps it outside the ring, showing his ring gear had changed. He was now wearing his first ring attire when he debuted in the WWF back in 1997. However, this time the designs were different. On the right leg from the knee to the ankle was flames, with the Grim Reaper on the right thigh of the wrestling tights. On the left leg at the thigh area was a burning Undertaker symbol. On the chest area, in the middle, was a large burning Undertaker TX symbol.
The two brothers stare at the stage as Bladewolf's theme dies down.
The Acolytes' theme hits and out comes Bradshaw and Faarooq. "And their opponents. From the Corporate Ministry, at a combined weight of 613 lbs, Bradshaw and Faarooq...THE ACOLYTES!"
The challengers enter the ring as the two brothers hand their titles to the referee who holds them up to show they were up for grabs in this match before giving them to someone at ringside then called for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Bladewolf and Faarooq start off the match while their respective partners get onto the ring apron. Bladewolf and Faarooq lock up in a battle of strength that Bladewolf easily wins as he manhandles Faarooq and gets him into a corner where the former WWF Champion unloads on Faarooq then uppercuts him. Faarooq fights back with hard rights then Irish whips Bladewolf across the ring into the opposite corner but Bladewolf comes right off and floors Faarooq with a hard clothesline.
"Wow, what a clothesline." Jerry said.
"Bladewolf regaining control here." JR nods.
Bladewolf picks Faarooq up and tosses him into the corner, runs and nails a turnbuckle clothesline then hammers away on Faarooq multiple times before uppercutting him, then picks him up and hits a powerslam in the middle of the ring, going for a pin but Faarooq kicks out at two. Bladewolf grabs the left arm of Faarooq and yanks on it then begins driving his elbow multiple times into Faarooq's chest.
"Good grief." JR said. "I think Bladewolf is in a very foul mood for some reason."
"Well, what do you think, JR? He's always in a foul mood!" Jerry asks sarcastically.
Bladewolf keeps up his assault before stopping and drops Faarooq. He adjusts his right elbow pad before he goes to grab Faarooq when the man suddenly grabs the Demon Wolf's right arm and brings it down hard onto his shoulder, causing Bladewolf to back off, his arm in pain. Faarooq hits a dropkick to the legs of the Bladewolf, bringing the 7ft monster down and Faarooq takes advantage of this as he begins attacking the legs and the arms of the Bladewolf.
"Now this is good strategy, JR." Jerry nods. "Take out the arms, you get rid of the power for the Chokeslam. Take out the legs you get rid of the Tombstone."
"indeed, King." JR nodded.
Faarooq brings the arm over to the ring post and slams it into the metal, causing Bladewolf to yell in pain then Faarooq placed the left leg against the ring post and delivers a boot to it, which causes Bladewolf more pain since the left leg was what the Undertaker attacked a lot during their match at Over the Edge.
Faarooq grabs the legs but Bladewolf pulls his legs in which caught Faarooq by surprise and made his head connect with the steel ring post, making him fall down as Bladewolf recovers from the attacks on his arms and legs before he rolls out and grabs Faarooq, tossing him back into the ring. Bladewolf rolls back in, limping just a bit but doesn't let it effect him as he grabs Faarooq and Irish whips him into his corner where he runs and hits a turnbuckle clothesline, then tags in Kane.
"And here comes Kane." JR said.
Kane enters and delivers a stomp to Faarooq's chest as Bladewolf gets out onto the ring apron. Kane takes Faarooq down with a nasty uppercut that made many flinch at the impact then Irish whips him off the ropes and hits a big boot to the face, then he hits a running elbow drop before he goes up to the top rope, waiting until Faarooq gets to his feet and jumps off...TO HIT THE FLYING CLOTHESLINE!
"Flying clothesline from the Big Red Monster!" Jerry said.
"Monsters don't fly." JR joked. "But this one does."
Kane gets to his feet and raises his right hand, signalling a Chokeslam was coming. He wraps his hand around Faarooq's throat when he spots Shane McMahon coming down to ringside and stands on the apron to distract the Big Red Machine, Kane senses Bradshaw coming in to save his partner when he's intercepted by Bladewolf who sends him running into Shane, knocking the younger male McMahon off the apron and colliding with the security barricade.
Bladewolf next grabs Bradshaw's neck and nods to his brother before they lift Bradshaw up...AND PLANT HIM WITH A DOUBLE CHOKESLAM! KANE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THREE! KANE AND BLADEWOLF RETAIN THE TAG TEAM TITLES!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Kane's theme plays as Kane gets to his feet and stands with his brother. "Here are your winners and STILL World Wrestling Federation Tag Team champions...THE BLADEWOLF AND KANE!"
"Nothing's gonna stop these two!" JR said. "Nothing. These two cannot be stopped."
Bladewolf and Kane take their titles and leave the ring, heading up the ramp to the back...
And that's it for this chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it along with seeing Bladewolf and Kane retain their titles.
