Chapter 46: The Light In The Dark
Rattling down onto the floor in nearly a million pieces, the once heavily armed knuckle used weapon worn by Seth shattered to the core. It was no longer useable, though where many could see it that way, the shattering only exposed more of a dangerous weapon. Rather having curved tops, the new face of the knuckles were jagged, bumped, and pointed outwards like shards of glass. Instead of force being his go to, his next use was simply a blade. Taking this opportunity, and since Spyro still hadn't moved, Seth went in for another left armed swing. Where it should've done damage, the palm of Spyro's paw proved to be far stronger than this piece of plastic. The attack slapped, connecting to the target and at near full force from Seth. Though even through his struggles to push his fist deeper, it wasn't the same for Spyro. He didn't struggle at all, and rather the damage being done to him, Seth had his chance and lost it. Snapping Seth's paw upwards, breaking it from use, a loud cry of pain escaped his lips. Being held down, two dragons took their chances to attack while Spyro was preoccupied. One ran left, and another, to the right, rushing to the back in efforts to readout the weak. The preparation and battle positions of those in the back weren't needed. With a hold of Seth's paw, Spyro used this poison dragon's body as a weapon. Curving him to the left before letting go and flinging him to the right, the body of Seth crashed against his fellow comrade. Where Seth's body hit the dragon's right side, the force was enough to slam the dragon's body and head right up against the wall, knocking him down entirely. From his right paw still extended from the throw, a quick swing back around helped ice shards shoot from the tips of his claws. Hissing by and whistling in the wind, the shards cared little for the dragon's armor. They hit hard; shattering past the armored plantings and digging deep into the scales of the dragon. The force and shockwave of the throw knocked the dragon down on the ground, growling in pain to feel such force. Already three were down, leaving only three more left. One was female, and two were male. The male and female were handicapped; still having their weapons dug within the two Rebel dragons. For the remaining male, he shivered from the show, knowing there was no way he'd be able to fight him alone. However, he did prove as a strong distraction. Seth had recovered quick enough. Snapping his paw back into place, the adrenaline had kicked in, forcing just a small growl with no real pain. Taking off his broken weapon from his knuckles, he yanked it before carefully placing it to the ground; realizing halfway through what would happen if Spyro knew he were up and at it. Looking to his left where the dragon behind him was still in a daze, Seth took advantage of his weapon. Grabbing a hold over his trident, a quick step up and charge was made. All to the back noticed it, and they all cried, "Spyro!"
His chest turned towards Seth, but he didn't attack. This metal praised so highly for it's deadly nature was sure to shine. It pissed Seth off to no end to see Spyro stand there with such confidence even as he charged him; the confidence of a soon to be dead man, Fine! Stand there and die! Charging head first and swinging the blade at a slightly arched angle, it connected in a clear as day show. The three pointed tips at the top all touched, pushed, and made their attempts to pierce through his scales like butter, as they did for the other two dragons before him. However, with a loud 'ping', time slowed down for many. Where his chest should've been opened; torn to shreds and blood spilling everywhere from a horrific and powerful display, Spyro was unfazed. The trident cracked on impact to Spyro's chest, and with every second that went by, the cracks grew bigger, larger, and further down the weapon. The cracks soon became too big, and the metal used for this weapon was all but broken. The pieces shattered like broken glass; similar to the knuckles, and falling to the ground bit by bit. Seth, his group, Ava, and Serena were all in shock, seeing such power in only his standard form. After the pieces were all done bouncing down to the floor, Spyro inspected them. There was a rather large chuck that had fallen to the floor, near the size and thicknesses of a couple acorns. Picking the piece up off the floor, and moving past the other sharpened debris of pieces, each one made the sound of glass touching the other. Raising it to eye level, he inspected the craftsmanship. Just out of the feeling to be risky, his mouth opened, his claws hovered over his lips, and he dropped the shard of Anti-Amalinstro into his mouth. Everyone stopped for a second, seeing dots go by their faces before they all said the same thing in their minds, HE ATE IT?! Seth, shaken and afraid, holding nothing more than a stick in his paw now, chuckled in a drop of sweat, "That'll tear through your throat and cut up your insides. Where your scales may be made of metal, your insides are nothing but flesh and gush."
After having chewed on the piece for a bit, Spyro swallowed, eating the piece entirely and licking his lips after. After a couple seconds of waiting, nothing seemed to have happened, and from the way Spyro picked his teeth, as if their were left overs, he still wasn't in a mood to play, "You've given me more of an idea as to how I'm going to torment you if you don't leave my home right now," Snatching the stick from Seth's paw at near lightning speed, his words took over, talking at the same time as he burned the evidence, "There was once a time an arrow had cut my cheek, and Cynder feared it was her who had done it. From that point on, I've found many ways to prevent such things from happening again."
Where Cynder showed a raised heartbeat in love for why he was different, stronger, and better, Seth saw differently, "So you forced yourself through harsh, terrible labor simply because you like, Cynder? You like, a murderer?"
"Seth, shut the hell up. You think stupid and you act stupid. Please stop being a little bitch for once in your life and act like a grown ass man."
"Go to hell," Seth growled through his teeth, and from out of nowhere, he called out, "Reinforcements... NOW!"
As if the amount of men they had wasn't already enough, the male, holding the trident down on the arm of the rebel, had an ear piece, similar to what Axel had on. The dragon placed his finger over the button, and from a soft voice, he gave commands that others couldn't hear. With the call given, it took a couple of seconds before noticeable changes took affect. Spyro felt it within the ground. Shadow dragons of plenty moved past him from underneath and headed for those behind him. Joining his fellow attackers, the remaining male at the back group disappeared deep within the ground. Each shadow dragon jumped out from the ground; to the backs of the Guardians in a surprise attack. Each had their target. All in shock and surprise to feel the gust of wind behind them from the emerging threats, the Guardians, same for Malefor, each acted in their own way. Malefor was first up, but in no surprise for many, his threat was handled with finesse. Popping his little ability, a gun made of golden flames appeared in his paw. Spinning around rather quickly, the bullet shot from the gun. The round edged ammunition was powerful on impact. The hit sent a shockwave through the dragon's body, knocking him unconscious from the power and force alone. For Ignitus, the attack the shadow dragon made against him wasn't stoppable, so instead of wasting time in trying to find a best of both worlds, he took the blade of the dragon to the chest to hold him still. Claire showed wide eyes to his blood shed and protection, but she wasn't about to let him suffer. Showing teeth and claws, her words spoke, and her actions took place, "You bastard!"
With the dragon unable to move, Claire's claws swung, digging deep within the shadow dragon's chest. The force helped pull the blade from the red Guardian's chest with a loud 'slit'. His blood went forward, whereas the shadow dragon went backwards. Bashing the dragon's skull to the ground from the force of her claws, Claire gripped his insides, twisting and turning them to force cries and pain. The next shadow dragon took aim to Trish. The two had a moment to look at one another. Terrador, seeing the fear in the eyes of Trish, scared him. He, as well as she, knew who the attack was meant for. The blade neared her face, but at the same time, so did something for the shadow dragon. Rather spinning his body in a one-eighty, Terrador went for a full three-sixty. His boulder of a tail narrowly missed the scales of the green female, passing by her and headed forwards. Terrador's boulder smashed into the shadow dragon's paw, snapping, and dislocating it. However his attack continued, pushing the paw of the enemy back. The shadow dragon was lucky. With the covering of his paw to his face, the tail of the green Guardian couldn't connect his spikes to the head. Instead, the force pushed against his mouth, jerking his head to the side and kicking his body up. Still full in power, the push Terrador gave sent the dragon back. The force crashed the shadow dragon into the back wall, misplacing his body in all different ways. His head dug the deepest, his spine turned to a point of almost breaking, and his bottom hip seemed unresponsive. Two were down, but Volteer was next. This shadow dragon had nearly no time to respond at all. On his exit from the floor to jump up on an attack, his body was immediately electrified. The surroundings of his body from the attack weren't a standard color of yellow, but rather blue. This deadlier and much more powerful version of his power immobilized the dragon completely. Volteer smirked as he turned around with his mate to see such a simple victory, "Thank yoooou, Spyro."
It was thanks to his training before that he was even able to make such a trick. He had secretly placed the electrical landmine with his tail, once having noticed obvious signs all around. Volteer was smart, quick, and conning, acting simply out of emotions, lip movements, and his surroundings. Feeling completely fried and nearly steaming, with the electricity now done, the shadow dragon's body simply fell to his knees before hitting head first into the ground. Lastly was the blue Guardian: Cyril. Rather a male this time around, a female had jumped out from the ground. The two took notice quickly, and where she went to attack, Cyril blocked with a wing, ready for an attack himself. Though, unlike the others who needed force, the shadow female stopped dead and cold on her advancements. Flair's look gave her a feeling of uneasiness. Her body barley showed thanks to Cyril's wing, but it only took the gaze of this red female to put the vision of death before her. Shivering all too heavily, the female backed, going against the attack and preserving her life over the order she was given. Flair pushed Cyril's wing down. He didn't go against her, seeing what she saw within this shadow female. With her body exposed and her fins sharpened, a warning by Flair was given, "Leave... before I force your life to."
She didn't need a second remainder. Her body ducked back down through shadow, wiggling through and popping back out from behind the male dragon who had given the order of attack. Even still, one more dragon of shadow color and ability made an attack. This one, was against Cynder. Instead of popping up from behind as many had, he made his advancement from the front. Changing up the plan of attack, his assault came from under, flinging his claws up from the ground and headed to her neck. The sudden surprise caused her to jump, making her more vulnerable for being in the air. This was valuable to Spyro, however. The more he came out from the ground, the more the shadow dragon was exposed. Kicking a foot to the ground, many wondered what Spyro had done. A pillar made of earth separated Cynder from the shadow dragon like a wall, but being pointed at the end, it made its way through the stomach of the shadow dragon. As it pierced through and out his back, blood was coughed up and out from his mouth. Looking down to see what had happened, his body stayed suspended in the air, being held up by this spear of a pillar. Reaching down to try and remove it, even as futile as it was, the shock he was given from the attack made his mind go blank. Giving in to the pain, the shadow dragon's body went limp, passing out from the shock and unimaginable pain. One at a time, Kettu and Xvar appeared near the bodies of these dragons and disappeared with them. Each body was thrown towards the entrance, tossing them away as if they were garbage. Bodies stacked one by one, though they were healed by the darkness before being thrown. Claire growled to see the dragon she wanted to gut was gone, "Son of a bitch... I should've killed him when I had the chance," Looking to Ignitus's chest, it was thankfully healed, and he smiled to see her worry, "If you enjoy the idea of penetration so much, why won't you bang me?"
"What?!" Ignitus didn't expect her to say this.
"Your chest wound. Is that what you were smiling about?"
"No no no no no, of course not. Just... liked my back being covered is all. Like when Warfang was invaded... I'm just... not used to battling together with... ...someone I love..."
"Is this about the past? Are you thinking about how painful and lonely you use to be?" She saw where this was going, and his smile turned to a frown, "Oh, Ignitus... You do realize here soon, you're going to be battling for more than just me, right? Together, we're going to have to protect our hatchlings, too. You'll never be alone in battle ever again."
Ignitus sighed, going back to a smile for this, "Man... now I wish I didn't stop you this morning. Maybe I could've used that relief."
"Knew you'd regret it," A smirk went past her lips, and just for the sake of love and support, the two shared a kiss.
All five bodies that were supposed to be their reinforcements now all stacked to the middle of the group in the hallway, including the one who attempted to help from the back group . Just for an extra throw in, Kettu took the dragon from off the left wall that still hung by an ice shard and threw his body into the pile as well. Their numbers dwindled; going from six, to eleven, and now back down to five. Though Seth and another were still very much down, so that really only left three: the two who were holding the rebels down, and the female who ran from her attack. Spyro was still in no mood for games, taking his walk of power over to the other two who still hadn't listen to his orders, "I told you two to release them. For every drop of blood you forced out of them, I'll take gallons from you two. And that's not combined," Looking to his right, then his left, Spyro made his approach to the white wind female, "You won't give me much fun, so I'll deal with you first."
One of the shadow dragon's, dawned in armor, shuck from the pile of bodies that laid to the entrance. His rising figure helped them all distinguish who it was. The body was that of the one who took the ice shards through him. Standing up but in a daze, he fell over the body of dragons beneath him. Spyro stopped near inches away from the cowering female; wanting to inspect what was happening. Past shaky legs, a weakened body, and the heavy weight now given on by the armor, the shadow dragon made his movements. He passed right next to Spyro, caring little for what might happen if he got too close. Standing in between Spyro, and the female, his wings extended to protect her. He was clearly in no mood to fight; one eye hanging down over the other, dripping sweat to a raised breath. The wind female knew where this would go, and she tried her best to stop things now, "Wait wait wait!" She didn't release the dragon still, but rather used him as a weapon, "You dare harm him, or take one step closer, and I'll kill this dragon!"
Spyro didn't listen, and instead moved his paw to the upper neck of the somehow standing and weakened dragon. His heart, as many others, raced for what he was to do. Where this threat could've put many in a bad spot, for Spyro, it only helped him, "You still try and threaten me when you have nothing to bargain. You kill him, I'll bring him back. But since you're so keen on making a statement, maybe that's the only way to get through to you people," His claws inched up the shadow dragon's neck as if he were to crush his windpipe, "Tell me... who's this to you?"
"He's my lover!" She blurted out and admitted, "D-d-don't... ...D-d-don't, h-h-hurt him!"
"My love... look away..." Feeling an uncomfortable grip falling upon his neck, the shadow dragon knew what was next.
"NO!" She showed tears, "What ever you're doing, Talon, just... STOP!"
"Release the dragon and I release him," Spyro gave his final warning.
"You need to run!" The grip to his neck became too much for even him to breathe.
"Spyro, listen to me! If I release him, you'll kill us! Why would I do that if it's the only thing keeping us alive?!" She had her reasons, even if they didn't stack up to what it was that previously shown, "Seth made his threat against you, against, Cynder! We know you won't let us leave alive, so what the hell are we supposed to do?!"
Shaking his head in a sigh, this wasn't the answer Spyro wanted, "All you had to do was let the dragon go."
"SPYRO! DON'T!"
With a loud, crushing blow, the neck of the dragon had been squashed inwards, even if it didn't show from the outside of his scales. The crushing snap of his bones made the wind female's heart sink. Her lover's body stopped moving all together, and his words; along with what she knew of his life, were no more. Tears showed, and like the color of her body, her eyes disappeared in a white, dead color. For Spyro, he simply tossed the body off to the right side. The shadow dragon's body hit the floor with a thud; lifeless, dead, and cold. While such a sudden movement and action, the family all held onto hope that this was another plan of Spyro's, though it was an aggressive one at that. Her head slowly turned to see his laying body: her mind breaking to what she was seeing. Caring little to none for the lives of others now, her paws dropped from the weapon, rushing over to her lover's body. Grabbing a hold of the weapon, thanks to Spyro's power, he was able to disintegrate the pieces while healing the dragon's wounds at the same time. Even with his body being healed, his back slid down the wall out of a loss of both blood, and energy. The atmosphere around now turned heavy and sour, with no one knowing what'd happen next unless Spyro deemed that to be the case. Picking up the side of his body, the wind female cried gentle tears at first, "No... no no no no... ...please... ...not now... ...not... ...not ever..." Resting her head against his side and dropping tears to the edge of his stomach, her teeth showed out of pure rage, "I knew when we heard of you... you'd be nothing more than a monster..." Spyro wasn't fazed in her saying, "Dalton!" The remaining shadow dragon had his name called, "The nearest red gem patch: WHERE?! WHERE IS IT!"
"Don't bother," As if dusting off his shoulders, what Spyro said was real, true, and heartbreaking to her, "Red gems heal wounds, not bruises. It also only heals the living, not dead," The boil of her blood forced a lock in her body at first, but soon after, she tensed in rage, "Doesn't feel good to be put in a losing position, does it? You thought your numbers mattered; thought riding with your little bitch party would make you something. Now you know how it feels when you take the lives of others without remorse to them or others."
"WE DON'T KILL!" She made this very clear, and from how she spoke in real emotions, it once again made Spyro second guess who was really the villain, "Seth is the only one who's ever shown intentions to kill! He attacked you, not us! I knew there'd be reinforcements but I didn't know what for! I didn't know what Seth was trying to plan, and all we had to go off was how dangerous coming here was!" Shaking the tears off from her eyes, her vision blurred, and her body gave way when holding who she loved, "...Talon..." She spoke her lover's name, "I didn't believe what Seth told us... about how dangerous and manipulative you really were... but now I understand even more clearly just how much of a shit hole this back watered planet really is!"
"I'm dangerous and manipulative?" Something didn't sound right here, "Maybe I'm narcissistic or not seeing something that I should, but please explain how I'm the bad guy here."
"Kayla..." Seth didn't want this information to get out, "Don't say anything to him... he'll use that to kill other victims in the future..."
"I'VE ALREADY LOST MY FUTURE!" The white wind female let her voice be heard, "We've heard about your cover stories! You try to save others to hide the deaths that you cause to many more! You show purity when in reality, you're the worst of the bunch! You're a psychological manipulator! You don't care about other people. You only care to hear them open up to you so you can use that against them later!"
"I believe the term you're looking for is: dark empath," Volteer helped at the wrong time.
"What does that mean?" Malefor was the one to question.
"I literally taught you this."
"Yeah, like... Fourteen years ago! Now my mind is just filled with imagines of Carith's ass!"
"Next time you shoot something, it better not be from your golden gun, and it better splatter me instead~," No matter how many times it took, Carith was looking for any way to seduce her purple dragon.
"You should hurry before the heat gets to everyone else," Ersa knew where this would go.
"You just want to hide the blush because you enjoy that from me~," Volteer caught his mate in the dirty mindset
"Bastard," He was right, and her blush showed out of love, "I'LL EXPLAIN IT THEN!" Where she was going to, after having her life protected, she still had some flirty words, "I wouldn't mind being trapped and at your mercy tonight, though."
"Either we have sex, or you move. But fair warning; the floor of electricity will immobilize your body and allow me easy access to every part of you~."
"STAND AND DELIVER! HAHAHA!" Malefor laughed from memory, knowing this would break up the two and still allow him a laugh.
"And Malefor ruined it... like all things," The two mates sighed, but at least now, Volteer was truly able to continue with his explanation, "Ahem..." First he cleared his throat, "A dark empath personality merges empathy with dark triad traits. These traits consist of: narcissism, machiavellian, and psychopathy. Each have their own malevolent connotations. Narcissism: characterized in the pursuits of ego gratification, vanity, and a sense of superiority, dominance, etc. Machiavellian: characterized in a person's manipulation, focused on self-interest and personal gain. Psychopathy: characterized in impulsivity, enduring anti-social and bold behaviors."
"Wouldn't that make Spyro have a slight characterization of narcissism? Considering Spyro's dominance over you, Cynder?" Carith wanted to mess with her female friend, and it worked.
"I was more powerful than him last night, thank you very much," Cynder crossed her arms in a blush.
"Last night, that's it?" Claire now questioned her, and this made Cynder blow a raspberry to know she was being picked on.
"So that's what Seth meant to say," Kayla showed teeth, now understanding truly what Spyro was.
"Honestly, to, stick up for Spyro, I'd have to say he's none of that," Ersa begged to differ, "True, where I would've liked to have killed him back in the day, I'm glad I didn't. If anything, Spyro's the purist form of an empath than anything else."
"I don't need your help. But if you want to boost this maniacs' ego, then go right ahead," Wanting nothing more than to die where she laid with her lover, the soul and any emotion she once had was gone.
Everyone clearly felt something wrong from either side. One seemed like it wasn't giving any information at all, while another was giving facts but were chosen not to be believed. Something was off, and where right now Spyro was seen as a villain to her, he needed to change up her attitude, "Kayla..."
"Don't talk to me!" She wasn't able to be turned against her family.
Easy approaches were made in his voice, "Talon... how long have you two been together?"
He spoke his name but asked her the question. Holding him tightly on these memories, thinking about her time with him made these emotions slip into words, "Three months now..." She wanted someone to talk to, and unfortunately, that only person was Spyro, which she tried to resent, "I didn't want to tell him the truth... I saw what was under his bed before he left. He's had it down there for a while... An engagement ring... one to which he specifically picked and crafted all on his own..." Trying to fight her thoughts was meaningless; her emotions poured out in anguish, "Even after all the scrapes, scars, and missteps he took, he continued his crafts... I just... I just wish he didn't take so long..." Spyro stealthy made his approach to her, and being so deep within her words, focusing on her dead lover, it was unknowing to her from his movements, "Why did you have to be so kind... ...why did you have to be so... ...loving to me...?"
Spyro sat down across from her and the body, sympathizing with her now, "I ask the same about, Cynder."
Seeing him try such a tactic, had it not been for Talon's body, she surely would've attacked him. She jerked forward, her claws were at the ready to swing, but they couldn't move off from the scales of who she loved, "YOU'RE A REAL PIECE OF SHIT, YOU KNOW THAT!" Frowning from her reaction, she was valid in saying what was on her mind, "You kill my lover just to sympathise with me?! You basically break my mind and soul, and now you're trying to show that you care?! I knew you were psychotic, but what the hell in anyone's right mind would think this is the way to peace?!"
"For what Amara said, for what Axel's experienced, for all that the Dark Master spoke on with malice: it's made me lose faith in our kind..." Opening up more, this helped Serena and Ava now understand too why he was attacking so much more aggressively, "Back when Amara came here, she only had one goal: to become my mate. She was dense, difficult, attacked Cynder, and turned me against her... or so she thought. Not a single time did she flinch unless it was from her own emotions. Being civil is frightening now. If I try to be so, that single split second, could cost the life of who I love."
"So then... you really are just a monster," Kayla showed tears.
Spyro sighed, showing he wasn't perfect, "I try not to be... though I guess in someway... I am..." She didn't like the sound of that, nor did anyone else, "Serena was right... you have to show power before you yourself are stepped on, and after being sleep deprived, still recovering from Amara's showing, the rebels for whether or not they're evil, your group now, I just... I can't wrap my head around it all..." Seeing past his evil and really looking deep to his eyes, she saw a shine of light, but couldn't make heads or tails of it, "I should've listened to you... I should've... been more sympathetic... and I'll remember that for the rest of my life..." Really drilling the thought into his mind to be better, Kayla saw it too: he was serious; torn for what he had done, "I... I hope and pray for your well being. I... ...hope... I didn't ruin the future you two could've have."
She showed teeth to this, tightening up before letting out her cry, "HE'S DEAD! WHAT DO YOU THINK?!"
"OH! SORRY! That came out wrong!" He quickly realized his mistakes on the way he worded it.
"Spyro, don't feel bad for what you did," Surprisingly, and from the aid no one would've expected, Flair defended what Spyro had done, "What's happened isn't your fault. Remember what they did: how poorly they treated you. They attacked you because they think you kill, but that's not the same for the Guardians, so why try and kill them? Why try and kill Malefor, or Cynder? They're trying to validate their malicious acts by turning you against yourself: hypocrites is all they are."
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Kayla didn't see it this way at all.
"You know Spyro has a big heart, one to which I've wanted to manipulate too, I won't lie. Turning Cynder evil would've force his turn, but that failed. You call him a dark empath because he shows he cares but later uses what you've told him against you for personal gains. And yet, you're doing the same, even though he isn't," Flair had many reasons to back Spyro up, "You know of Spyro's past and how much he loves Cynder, so you attempt to get to him by killing her, his family, and friends. He gave you a chance to be peaceful, but you declined once Seth attacked. It's wrong of him not to listen, but not you?" The more she spoke, the more others realized it, and for some reason, these thoughts Flair showed teeth to, "Spyro's not a villain for protecting his family. You had your chance, and you blew it. Cynder was threatened, Spyro stayed calm. You blew open his house and attacked our guests, Spyro stayed calm. He tried to work with you all; showed there was more to life than death, and none of you gave a shit. So why the hell should we care about the death 'you' caused. Talon's death was on you. Accept that."
Kayla had plenty more to say, and past her tears and weakness, she wasn't about to be bashed for how she acted, "How... DARE YOU!"
"Enough," Spyro's voice wasn't much, but it was there to a point Kayla and others listened, "Something's not right, and we all know that. Either I'm getting played, or we all are, but don't feel dumb for acting out of fear," She didn't understand it at first; his words weren't directed in hate, but understanding, "That's why you wouldn't let him go. You're afraid of me... aren't you?" No words were given, only a small shiver, wondering what he'd do with that information, "Okay..." Sighing to see this was true, something needed to be done, "Why do you fear me? What did you see, or, what were you told, to be so afraid?"
Kayla wanted to answer for the little bit of voice she had left over. However her thoughts were interrupted upon Seth once again blocking her voice, "Don't do it, Kayla... remember who he is... what he's done..."
Kayla didn't know who to trust now, and at any point showed a leaning to either side. Wanting to make up for what he's done, a small smile to which Kayla showed teeth for dawned to Spyro's lips, "I... really do hope Talon purposes to you soon..." Kayla's body lifted in anger to what he was saying, almost like he was mocking her dead lover, "If you ever get the chance, tell me how it went."
Breathing heavily, both inside and out, she was done thinking on her life. After him having said this, and realizing all she had lost, the inability to do anything broke within her. Her mind and soul didn't care what happened next; all she was focused on was the idea of slitting Spyro's neck. She was prepared, ready, and waiting for the perfect moment. The waiting was something she couldn't take long on; allowing seconds before her decision was made to strike. Shifting, it wasn't her body that did this, but something under her that forced the movement. Her eyes shot down, completely making herself vulnerable to attack. Every part of her told herself not to let her guard down, but hope suddenly emerged. Talon's body shifted and moved; letting show a smile as though he were dreaming. Rolling around and onto his back, even past these movements the male made, Kayla held him the entire time. His eyes gently, and slowly opened. Seeing this now made her tears explode, dropping heavily to a point she couldn't believe in her own vision. Completely forgetting where he was entirely, Talon kept his cool, kept his smile, and kept her company, "Hey... ...it's okay, my love... ...What's wrong?" Wiping a tear from her face, he could see the confusion in her eyes, "Did something happen while I was asleep?"
The family wasn't surprised the dragon wasn't really dead, but it was still a sigh of relief and a silent thank you from the family. Other didn't understand what was happening at all, such as Serena, Ava, and the other members in the Chambers both inside and out. Talon faced off to his left side, trying to get a better understanding of his surroundings. Noticing the tall, strong, and deadly looking purple dragon before him, his body shot stiff, "Spyro?!" Remembering it all now, his heart raced for a fight, "What did you do?! What did you do to her!"
"TALON! STOP!"
His body went to move; wanting desperately to take charge and protect his lover again. Kayla however, didn't want a repeat to what ever had happened and held him down, keeping these fears of history repeating itself from happening again. Neither knew what to think, and before this question could be rasied, Spyro wanted to clear up what had happened, "Don't worry, Kayla, he's fine. I never actually harmed him," Bringing up his paw, the two both jumped, afraid of what he might pull to harm them, "You see my paw? See how stiff it is?" They noticed it, but a couple seconds later, a loud snap, crackle, and pop erupted from the inside of his wrist, once again causing the two to jump, though more from disgust now, "When Amara was here, I faked breaking my jaw to act as though I had broken Cynder's neck. When it came to Talon, I did the same, only I snapped the bones within my paw to make the noise. Needed it to look authentic."
Talon touched around and even moved his neck to learn the truth. No pain or aftermath was felt: showing no wounds, bruises, or battle damage from what had previously happened. So many questions were on Kayla's mind now, and she wanted answers, "No... No, I don't... I don't understand you!" The joy she had for her lover being alive again was overwhelming, topping that off with everything else that she was feeling; it was all too much to process, "Why didn't you kill... no... no, I... I don't want to ask a question like that! A better question I want answered is, why the show?! Why did you have to break me mentally before showing this side of yourself?! Why now do you care?!"
Bringing up his wings rather fast to block the two, Spyro's actions caused a reaction from Talon. Unable to lay idle any longer, his figured raised up rather quickly. Standing to all fours, he didn't show much in the means of attacking, but just a show of what he'd do if Spyro were to act. Kayla stood too, holding a paw to Talon's shoulder and begging for things to not repeat, "Talon, please, listen! I already felt what it was like to lose you, and I don't ever want that feeling again!" He understood, which was why he didn't raise his wing or act too rash, "Spyro, please... I don't want a repeat... I... we lost, alright! If you're going to kill us then... then..."
"Who do you trust, Kayla?" It was an odd question for Spyro to ask, causing more fear to swirl in her mind to why he asked it, "You're not like, Seth. From the looks and sounds of it, you're being lied to. Where I know you think I'm some how... manipulating you, my stand against murder is concrete," She decided best to listen to him speak, "The distasteful nature of killing, the pain it causes, what people go through when losing someone they love... After hearing and seeing how Seth acted, I thought you were the same, too. But you're not. You're afraid of my power, but... there is one way to defeat me if you're ever too scared."
"Y-y-yeah... A-a-a-and... how's that...?" She was hesitant to ask, but she needed to know.
"Hehe... if you ever want to see me get my ass handed to me, just call Cynder over. She'll show me my place if I'm getting too out of hand or if I take things too far."
This confused Kayla and her lover once again. They looked to each other first before taking a look to Cynder. Their eyes had to direct under the large wing of Spyro, but since he saw them taking peaks, he raised his wing when ever they were looking. Each of their views came back to Spyro, then to Cynder, and back to him once again. They could kind of see where her slim features would make her a fast, deadly, and viscous foe: taking on simulators to a king cobra. But when it came to Spyro's bulk, they saw him as a true powerhouse who could take on the bites of a thousand cobras. Kayla needed things to be brought down before her heart exploded from overuse, so for now, she played along, "Comparing you to Cynder... how could you possibly lose to her?"
"Well, for one... if I step out of line, I can expect to be bit and poisoned by my little female snake. Also, she knows I'd never harm her, so she likes to take advantage of that, and we have fun little stories to play around with. She doesn't take advantage of it in a bad way as it's all play the same for us. Sometimes she's the dominant, sometimes I am. But what always remains consistent is her title and power when it comes to her being the leader of our relationship."
"Why do you sound like you actually love her?" Talon wanted to ask some questions now too, "Don't you just have her around to kill stuff for you when you're bored? Or do you make the Dark Master kill things for you?"
"Why do you two keep thinking I kill things?" Spyro didn't understand where they were getting this information, "Cynder's not a monster, and don't you two ever think that way. She's injured, and forced to relive the memories of what the Dark Master put her through. For ten years she had no one; was forced to kill her parents and mine, and was afraid of losing me over that. I don't care to kill. I only want what's best for me and my family, and that's peace."
"So then... you were serious when you talked about why you don't kill?" Kayla wondered now, rethinking back to if he were lying or not.
"Pretending to kill Talon proved my revenge theory. Killing others doesn't fix the problem, it only makes more of a problem. I don't kill 'cause I know of the repercussions it could cause to my family. I want them to feel secure, and to not always be hunted for something I did. I want them safe; for this place to be a real sanctuary where they will always have the feeling to smile. I didn't want to attack, but after Seth forced my paw, I didn't know who was friend or foe."
"Wait, so... all those dragons you killed... what Seth and the others said... they were lying to us?" Talon wasn't so sure on it himself now, and it didn't help that Spyro truly seemed confused and sympathetic; changing the two's views on what was going on.
"We've been tricked, we've been back stabbed, and we've been quite possibly, bamboozled," Malefor growled through his teeth, looking around the room; not knowing who he could trust anymore.
"Aren't they the ones who are supposed to say that?" Volteer questioned his logic.
"Are they red?"
"No. And I think you mean lightish red."
"Bitch, I didn't say pink."
"Shut up!" Understanding what was going on now, Kayla didn't like how the pieces were falling, afraid now that their group was in reality the bad guys, "That's not... that isn't what A.D.O. stands for! We protect, never harm! I know Seth and his... friends, can be overzealous at times but... I..." Like her whole world was falling apart, answers were needed, and soon, "Then if Spyro's not a killer, and neither is Cynder then... what about you?!" She looked to Malefor, "Aren't you evil?! Aren't you supposed to be... terrifying and manipulative?! A spawn of the devil himself?!"
"I'm evil when the times call for it... like with Carith for example," Malefor chuckled to himself to which flustered and confused the group, "If you want to know what I am, I guess you could say I'm sad... sad and horny..."
The group all gave widened eyes, blushing rather hard from what he had said: same went for Serena and Ava. The Guardians all shook their heads, but knowing something needed to be done, Ignitus made his firm approach to Malefor. He saw this, and immediately, Malefor backed away in a cry over and against the wall to where he normally sat, "Noooooo! Ignitus! Ignitus, stay away!" The red Guardian's paw raised to Malefor's head, "IGNITUS! IGNITUS! BAD DRAGON!"
Coming down like a ton of bricks, Ignitus let his paw slap down to the back of Malefor's neck. The force was enough for his head to flick down, forcefully changing the direction to where he was facing. Ignitus showed teeth, same for Malefor, but the only difference between the two was the big red lump on the back of the purple dragon's head. All raised their eyes to see this: another shocker to see a complete flip in dragon history all together. Kayla, similar to many others who didn't understand the full story, were afraid of what was next, Malefor's stolen the lives of millions! He's killed without remorse, destroyed the world, and had an army to back his murders! Why would this... Guardian, attempt such an attack?! Does he not fear death?! Is he trying to spark another war?! Clenching his paw to a fist, an adult needed to show this child his place, and Ignitus was that adult, "You do not go around telling strangers that! That's something you take to your room!"
"Like Ignitus would know," Claire mumbled low enough so he didn't hear, but Carith was right there, and very much heard.
"It, was, a, JOKE!" Malefor flung his head back up, still rubbing the back of his head, "And why the hell are you even attacking me?! I'm not the one who had their paw touched and couldn't hold back their bone-"
"MALEFOR!" Once again, Ignitus slapped the back of his head; much softer than last time, but instead of one hit, he did multiple, "Childish!" He hit the back of his head again, "Immature!" And again, "Indescribably Sexual!" And again, "Rude!" And one more time for good measure, "And disrespectful!" Malefor now laid to his stomach, holding both paws over his head, cuffing them over top in tears, "Please skies and holy Ancestors, purify this tainted soul and let him see the light."
Coming up with a joke on the fly, Malefor played along. Pretending as though his body was rising to the sky above, he slowly rose from the ground, "Ignitus!" He gasped, "It's working! I'm ascending above you peasants!" Ignitus grumbled, whereas Malefor stood to his fours now, "What's that, oh, holy Ancestors?" Nodding his head and agreeing to no one other than himself, at this point, he was just talking to himself, "Yes, I know I'm a virgin... Uh-huh... Yeah, see, I told them I couldn't die unless I lost my virginity," The Guardians all sighed, some of the girls giggled, and those left out had no idea what was happening, "What's that...? The prophecy says that a purple dragon named Malefor will lose this virginity to a blue ice female named... Carith?"
Her heart jumped, but it didn't start racing until after he faced her. The look Malefor gave; cocky, yet confident, it was all she needed to feel the neediness of wanting to jump his bones. As if his looks weren't enough to make sweat form, the smirk he gave, the voice he so smoothly delivered on his lines; holding back at this point wasn't an option, "Crazy... my name, is Malefor, and my lover's name, is Carith. Oh holy Ancestors, may I know as to when I'm to mate with this female."
"TONIGHT!" Carith jumped out of nowhere and cried this plea, "T-t-the voice is... it's calling to me now too! It said we should do it tonight! No later, but... b-b-but maybe sooner!"
"Funny you say that, Carith. The voice told me the same thing."
Carith held deeply onto hope now, seeing it day by day, the more they went without confessing their true emotions, the harder it became to hold back the truth. It was unfortunate for her, knowing what she could have and what she's wanted for so long to be right at her grasp was all but unattainable. Claire didn't wish to burst her bubble, but she knew this just as much as even Carith did, "I don't want to see you so depressed tomorrow so, I hope it's okay when I tell you... it most likely won't happen tonight."
"You girls have to be more forceful!" Ersa remembered how hard it was to get Volteer to agree, "Volteer dodged, and dodged, and dodged, but after finally having enough of his foreplay, I simply took charge! Don't let your dragon fool you. They may look powerful, and have plenty of war experience, but once your man gets a taste of freedom, they'll never go back."
"A taste of yellow is always mellow~," Volteer started to flirt, which was a bad sign for many, "'A taste of freedom'? Oh, I got a taste of freedom; if freedom has to do with the name change of a certain private part~."
"OH, COME ON!" Malefor didn't like being singled out, "Volteer gets to say that, but I can't say I'm horny?!"
"Stop using that word!" Ignitus clenched his fist.
"Hehe... HAHAHA! FINE!" Laughing to a point of tears, Malefor didn't care at this point, "PUSSY, THEN! HAHAHA!"
"He's bringing up his childish behavior from yesterday, isn't he," Terrador sighed, remembering what they had to deal with when it came to this hatchling.
"Hey, Terrador," It was a surprise to hear her speak, but he was always glad to hear Trish's voice, "I... I know this is weird for me to say out of nowhere and so suddenly but... I love you..." Terrador's heart suddenly fluttered to hear her say this; joining a feather-like feeling to his body seeing her blush, "None of this life would've been possible without you. I went from wishing to kill myself to... wishing for the death of all fear and doubt I've ever had about you... or life... and that's from the love you've given me."
Gently placing a claw to the side of her chin, he flirted back, "Just remember what we have planned for tonight. Your tongue is awfully lonely all by itself, but for tonight, I'm sure it wouldn't mind staying with mine," Trish giggled out of excitement and anticipation, making Terrador give a small chuckle as well, "Unlike those two, I'll hold my word. You'll get that kiss... and my tongue, of course."
The back and forth banter from the family; the smiles, the laughs, the blushes, the way they flirted, it all felt so real. Even for Spyro, Kayla noticed his eyes weren't even on her anymore. His guard was down, his underbelly exposed, and his breathing perfectly tamed. Such a dramatic moment turned on its head. Where people were sure to die, blood was being spilled, and attacks happening left and right; how things were now, it was all in the past at this point. These questions that still weren't getting answered frustrated her, and she needed them to be compiled and dealt with right now, "Alright, ENOUGH!" Her voice echoed loud enough to grab everyone's attention once again, "I was stressed, afraid, and threw up on the way here out of fear for what you'd do to us, Spyro. I was scared for my life, for my sister, and my lover! We were told that coming here would've been dangerous, and with Serena being here, we'd kill two birds with one stone and finally have the peace we've been waiting for!" After all that she had seen, one fear was changed to another, complicating her emotions on what she should feel, "Why are you waiting out our deaths?! Why are you trying to act, and show a real family around here, when our deaths won't matter to you?!"
Spyro sighed, seeing she still saw evil in who they were. It was time to focus back up, and going back to what was previously discussed, more information was compiled, "Your sister. Is she the one behind me?" Kayla was afraid to answer that, fearing that she had just doomed her sister's life in saying this, "Kayla... I need to know who you trust. I want to be as honest as possible without giving out personal information to those who seek to use it against me. You said Seth and his friends told you about what we are. So then, who isn't with Seth?"
"Don't do it, Kayla," Seth saw past what Spyro was trying to do, or so what he believed, "He's trying to keep us from talking or hearing in on the conversation because he knows we could go against his claims. He'll give false information, and with the powers he has, there's no doubt he wouldn't use you to his advantage. He likes seeing family kill family, which is why he's trying to turn you against us and not just finishing us off himself."
Kayla didn't know who to believe; all she knew was who she could truly trust. For the time being, a play along was given, and her side was taking gentle steps without giving out too much, "Dalton... Linda... get over here."
"Kayla, this is a bad idea," Dalton, the last remaining dragon to still have hold over his hostage was all but against letting the rebel go, "What if this is what he wants? I let go of this rebel, and we all die. You said it yourself when it came to them being used as bargaining chips. What would stop him from killing us remaining four once we all get close to him?"
"Because if he really wanted to kill us, he would've done it by now," Kayla didn't take her eyes off of Spyro, still rather afraid of who he was, "He used Talon as a way to get a trade: a life for a life. If you hold onto that rebel, he may very well do the same to you. Do you really want to go through what I did? Do you want to see Linda dead on the floor below you?" A good point was made to which he couldn't do anything against: either or situations being a bad one, "If we release the rebel, what will you do next, Spyro? Without a hostage, are we dead weight to you?"
Spyro already knew what he'd do, "Well, first, I'm going to heal him. Then we can get into our discussions. I won't act of course unless you all do."
Simple yet daring actions needed to be made. For Dalton, he really had to prepare himself. Looking to the rebel, then Spyro, then to his lover, his vision finally made it back to the rebel. Breathing in and out rather vigorously, he readied himself for the worse. Breath in, breath out, breath in, breath out. Constantly his breathing raised and rasied before he finally gave in, "Son of a, bitch!" Yanking the trident from the dragon's arm, where the rebel cried out in pain for the blood that exited his body afterwards, Dalton immediately pointed his weapon to Spyro, believing an attack was immanent, "There! Now come kill me...! DO IT!"
Spyro didn't do anything. Instead, a dragon made of darkness left from the back of himself. From the look and detail, it was clear Kettu had taken the lead. Dalton, even behind armor and weapons, shivered to the sight of the approaching dragon. Kettu paid him no attention, focusing on the task at hand, and healing the bleeding out rebel. As if he wasn't already afraid enough, Spyro called his name, "Dalton..." He jumped, turning his weapon back towards the purple dragon, "Get over here."
Linda still stood in wait for her lover to come join him. Dalton couldn't show fear for who he was in front of, and knew it was time to man up, "Damnit all..." Rushing ahead and throwing his weapon to the ground below, he was quick to stand in defense over his lover, blocking her front and holding up an arm, "Tell me what you are first!" He had his demands, "Right now, we're weak, defenseless, and afraid of you and your power. You could kill us at any point! Are you going to use that against us?! Are you going to harm me or my mate?!"
"Mate?" Spyro gave wide eyes to hear this, completely turning his back on the other two, and they all noticed that.
"Y-y-yeah... AND?!" The banging of his armor to his scales didn't help in fooling anyone that he wasn't afraid, "Is that a problem?!"
A sudden smile appeared on Spyro's face, and where all tension once showed, things were once again brought back to a much more joyful needed tone, "That's incredible!" He confused everyone now, "I'm very happy to hear that others out there really are moving up in the world!" His smile was genuine, his voice was joyful, and his body language spoke a thousand words, "How long have you two been mates for?"
Feeling a little more inclined to join in now, Linda gave her answer, "A... a year and a half as of now..." Trying to get from the arm of Dalton, her paw resting to it, helping him understand that he needed to ease, and where he was still afraid, he obeyed and lowered his guard, "It took us about six months before he went for it. But I can say for a hundred percent grantee that I'm sincerely glad to be with, Dalton."
"What did he use to propose?"
"Oh... this is the ring he gave me."
Her paw raised to show the gem. It was unlike anything Spyro had ever seen, and out of pure lost for words, his body just suddenly moved. Kayla, Dalton, and Talon all stood out of fear. Linda couldn't do much aside from back. However, to the sighs of all four, he didn't do anything but stand there and inspect the ring on her finger. Like any other ring, it circled around the digit with four small spikes cuffed at different points around the gem it held. Inspecting it more closely, and noticing the type of martial it was made of, Spyro's interest was peaked, "That's amazing..." Where the gem was more at the forefront of what should be looked at, his main focus was to the ring and not the gem, "Does that ring not feel uncomfortable to wear?"
"Hehe, that's, actually something me and Dalton had a huge problem with," Linda for some reason took a quick liking to Spyro, though she had plenty to back herself up on as to why she would feel this way, "Most rings are made of stiff metals. He hinted and hinted and hinted, wondering where he'd put the ring. He thought my horn was too out there, a bracelet would chaff after awhile, and a neck piece of jewelry would interrupt our nuzzling."
"That was a problem for me and Cynder back in the day too," Spyro chuckled.
"You two were trying to find engagement items?"
"Oh! No! I meant like, she use to have a chain around her neck," Cynder grumbled a little; understanding little when it came to marriage, but the idea and word alone when it came to Spyro made her feel such a powerful and giddy connection to him, "Once all her chains were broken off, or rather taken off, she was free to feel, well, feel free. However, there have been times where I've wondered the same when it came to an engagement ring, or even a wedding ring."
"Are you wondering what's best for Cynder and your future with her?"
Cynder's heart pounded, and in her mind, she begged for him to agree, With all that we've talked about; the pen and the cob, our playful stories... hell, even me talking about us doing it, it feels like now more than ever, our loves is at its strongest! So... is he going to deny it? His words wouldn't confirm nor deny what exactly he was searching for, but either way, it was better than him avoiding the question all together, "Well, you see... an... event is... rapidly approaching and I'd like a gift of, some kind, to show my appreciation. I thought of a ring but... I don't think it would feel good on her finger."
"That's where this ring would actually come in handy," Linda had good news, showing a smile to which he appreciated, "The type of materiel Dalton got for me is like an elastic. It's comfortable yet firm. It locks the gem in place, and though it's tight at the top, the ring itself is very smooth. There's been many times when I've slept with the ring on, forgetting about it all together. Then again, that's more so because Dalton always sings me to sleep."
"Awwwww," Seeing this as a sweet thing to do, Spyro gave his heart felt understanding, as did his family.
"Linda..." Dalton grumbled, blushing to her reveling this to him.
"Oh, don't be so sour. It got me to be your mate, didn't it?" Linda saw nothing wrong with what he does.
"By any chance, would you happen to know where I could get one of those?" The purple dragon held on to hope.
"Hehe. You know, it won't be a surprise gift to Cynder if you're asking for it in front of her," She giggled, and he blushed immensely.
"What I meant to say was!" Bringing up an arm, he turned back around to face the other two, "Should we continue with our discussion or..."
"No," Kayla gave a firm, hard, and upset sounding tone for some odd reason, "We're leaving."
"What?!" Everyone was surprised to hear this, including Seth.
"We have the rebels right where we want them!" Seth let his displeasure be known, "Why would we leave?!"
Kayla didn't respond to him, but rather approached Spyro. Her chest puffed in a show, trying to find any way to have any power over him. Even with her as an adult and Spyro as a teen, he still stood taller than her, and that was without a chest puff out. Tears started to show in her eyes, and the once feeling of power she wanted to have was all but gone. Talon didn't understand what was happening and took an approach. Though where he took his time to ease her emotions, Spyro was there too in support, "Hey... Kayla... are you okay?"
Hearing the enemy of all people ask this in such a supportive tone, she lost it. Flicking her paw around and near a speed to which anyone could miss if they were to blink, her paw slapped the right side of Spyro's face. It was no easy slap either: it was loud enough to echo, and have the feeling of red for both parties involved. The slap was even a surprise to Spyro who couldn't take it as well as he thought he would've been able to. His teeth hissed from the feeling, and where fear wanted to show from them, something told their minds it wasn't needed: and they were right. His hiss quickly turned into a chuckle, rubbing the side of his cheek in understatement, "That was for Talon, wasn't it...? Hehe... sssssss, damn! Now I understand why Malefor fears being slapped."
That wasn't the only one she gave out though. Another time, only on his other cheek now, did her paw cuff around with another very loud and very powerful slap. Seeing this once again, and hearing Spyro's pain, Cynder slapped her paw down, "HEY, BITCH!" She didn't appreciate seeing her lover's head be bobbed around like a bobble head; being slapped once again as if she owned him or something, "Slap him again, and you'll be very surprised how quickly I'll turn from bad to worse!"
Kayla raised her paw again to slap him, and where Cynder stood tall, ready, and with a fire in her heart, Spyro ducked his head out of fear for what was next. Her teeth showed, her body clenched, as did her paw now, showing a fist for what she was seeing. Not only had such a powerful threat ducked to her mercy, but it was so off putting to see someone so powerful such as Spyro apologize and fear over someone as weak as Kayla, "What ever I did I apologize! Please... no more slaps... I like my purple scales purple, not red."
Dripping tears to the floor, after hearing him say this now, one question and one question only was all she wanted answered, "Why..." Her paw placed back to the ground, clenching both at the same time now, "Why are you acting so weak all the sudden?!" She wasn't the only one who wanted this answered; confusing the other three the same when it came to the power they had seen, "You swiftly defeated us: took out Seth, took brass knuckles to the chin, broke a trident that slices through dragon scales like butter simply by standing there, and you ATE A PIECE OF THE METAL!" Now understanding she was serious, his head raised, locking eyes with the teary eyed female, "You're supposed to be powerful! A male who wishes to dominate the world! You have powers that could enslave probably the whole universe! So why are you acting like... a normal... person... ...Someone with... ...actual... ...moral rights...?"
Even with the smile Spyro had, this was a kind of question he never really thought too much on. It was something he didn't much care to think about; going through the motions of life with his family is all he really enjoyed. However, that didn't mean he didn't enjoy other things too, "Believe it or not... I'm... not the kind of person who wishes to rule because... hehehe... I... really love, Cynder," Everyone wondered what he meant by that; Cynder especially, listening with widened eyes and a raced heart, "I don't care to dominate the world. The only world I'd ever dominate, is Cynder's," Spyro gave a joyful laugh, "And... I guess you could say that I already have enslaved the universe. The universe is infinite, as is my love for her. I don't train to kill, to enslave, to rule... I train... because I have something to protect... My future... her, future... it's... what life means to me..." Sighing as he sat down, his body was overcome with a heavy weighted feeling of sleepiness, and comfort, "I'm sorry for scaring you, Kayla... I'm... sorry for what I put you through, Talon..." Closing his eyes in a smile, his body started to drift, "I just... ...I don't want to lose what gives life meaning... ...If there's one thing I'd change about my life, it'd be to time travel back to when she was born... that way... we could spend our whole lives together... all over again..."
"He got that one from me," Cyril elbowed Flair gently, knowing anything harder than a leaf touch would surely kill him.
Cynder was just about in a puddle of tears for herself. Listening to him speak about her so highly, so passionately, and with a smile always showing to his face just from the thought of her alone, she couldn't help but smile back. A pain fell upon her chest. It wasn't one that wanted a change in perspective, or one that hated what she was feeling or hearing; the feeling was from the amount of power she needed to hold back from telling Spyro the truth on how she wanted their relationship to be: how desperately she wanted to already take the next step, "But... Spyro!" His smile popped up to his face already, "You do realize the pain she went through, right?! You probably would've suffered the same! There's a chance you could've even died! Why put yourself through that?!"
"Because at least you wouldn't be alone through your suffering," One of the easiest questions Spyro's ever been asked, it hit close to home in both their hearts, considering he's always blamed himself for her pain when he couldn't do anything about it, "Cynder..." Saying her name alone was a heavy sigh for him: feeling relief and love without the need of a kiss, "You win... tonight... It's all bottom for me... Just make sure to wake me for any reason... ...don't be scared... ...don't ever... ...be scared... ...to want help..." And with his final words, he took his peace, "I love you, Cynder."
The weight was all too much at this point. His legs couldn't provide energy, his arms wobbled at the idea of pressure, and his mind grew in a white cloud of smoke. His eyes were sealed shut; his body was all but a weight of bricks now. Keeping in theme with bricks, that's exactly how his body came down. Like a structure missing its side, Spyro fell from no support. His front paw bent inwards, leaving nothing to hold him up. All jumped at the ready to help, though Cynder's speed wasn't anything they'd be able to compete against. She was quick to kick off the ground, rushing over to help as soon as possible. Unable to make it in time due to the maneuvering she had to do from the bodies on the floor, it didn't matter. Kayla and the other three grabbed him in support, helping him down and onto the ground below. Making her stance now over his body, seeing him smile even in his sleep, Cynder chuckled with tears to see this, "Damn you..." Ducking her head to his neck, she nuzzled her forehead along him, "You win, alright...? You... you win..."
Everyone smiled to see the connection the two had with one another, and where Cynder would've liked to lay with her lover, Seth had other plans. He stood rather tall, seeing victory was now all but assured, "Good riddance," The smile Cynder had left her almost immediately, "Now that he's down for the count, it should be much easier for us to kill him. Dalton, go pick up your weapon that you threw down like an idiot. Talon, you deal with the body of Spyro. Don't care how you kill him, just kill him. Cynder's a rather tough bitch, so I'll deal with her death."
No one did anything, said anything, or even listened in agreement to what Seth had to say. Cynder was at the ready though. Even with the showing of friendships by the four who could've done anything by now to attack, they simply stood there, unknowing who to trust anymore. This wasn't just the tipping point for Seth. He watched and noticed the help Kayla and Talon were giving Cynder; helping Spyro's body up and onto her wings. Growling lowly, he thought about it, realizing very soon that defeat wasn't an option, "Fine..." Showing his blade to his side, he made his approach, "I'll do it myself."
One step and Seth got nowhere. For the Dark Dragon Xvar, however, he appeared within the front of his enemy within seconds. A warning Xvar gave, and it was the only warning he'd give. With a paw to the fear dragon's chest, any step further would've surely ended in disaster, "Spyro may have a code against killing, but not Cynder. You try and hurt him, and you're dead."
"Hurt him?" Seth chuckled to that, "I already made him spit blood, did I not? What a shitty lover he must have then, considering I'm still alive after attacking him."
Cynder was ready to change that idea, stepping up in a way that showed a grit to her teeth for blood. Kayla noticed this, and was quick on the draw to have her paw rest to the female's shoulder. Where Cynder was ready for death and destruction, the others simply wanted out of here. They wanted their questions to be answered not from Spyro this time around, but from those whom she truly knew, "Cynder... he's not worth it..." Her eyes never left the head hung view she had over Spyro, keeping her eyes on the light that lit her soul with meaning, "Hey... Dark... Dragon..." Xvar turned his head leisurely; clearing showing the power difference between the two: where she feared, he was calm, "C-c-could y-y-you..."
"Relax, Kayla."
Another Dark Dragon spoke, spooking the four on who it could be. Walking from behind the four, they all jumped, in a complete loss as to who this was, where he came from, and especially how he got there. Talon rushed to the left side of Kayla, blocking her from attack. He was valid in what he had done, afraid of this never before seen threat. Already having put so much trust in this family of dragons so far, Kayla was willing to continue, "Talon, ease up," Her paw that once rested to Cynder's shoulder transferred itself to Talon's, and with the weight of her paw coming down in his wing, it took him a while to fully calm down, "Are you... friends of Spyro?"
"At this point, we're more so a part of him."
"Wait..." Serena now realized what it was that Spyro had said earlier, "So... when Spyro was asleep, and he said that others would know even when he was passed out... you two relayed that information to him, didn't you? You were the ones who told Spyro what I had said?"
"Spyro's still hesitate on who you are, Serena, same goes for you, Kayla."
Kayla snickered to this, "Yeah... I can see there's enough distrust going around. I guess where Spyro was being the better person, I should too," Thinking back on what she had said, it pained her when she thought on it, and an apology she believed was needed, "I might not get the chance considering he's passed out, but... could I trust you two, or... someone in the family here to tell him... to tell, Spyro, I'm sorry."
Kettu turned to her, wondering what this message could've been, "Well as of right now, we can still relay messages back and forth. Where his body may be at rest, his mind is a different story. We can still communicate to him even when he's asleep," The four showed wide eyes to hear of such a power, understanding more and more just how outclassed they were, "What's your message? Because if it's a threat, then-"
"It's not a threat," Kayla was quick, stepping up to be the better person as Spyro was to her, "Had it... not been for Spyro's help... this may have been a threat... but he showed me a different side of himself... his true self... so I want to show the same."
"That's really all it took to change you?!" Upset to see the turning of a comrade; a supposedly dear family friend, Seth was rather annoyed, "After what he did, after what you experienced, after the emotional breakdown he caused you to have, you're choosing his side over your own family?! You're putting your trust into someone who protects terrorists?!" He didn't understand her line of reasoning at all, "Kayla, don't you understand what he's trying to do?! He's showing you his power in attempts to fool you; to make you afraid but then to later comfort you. That way, he can easily use your weakness and not feel a need to break a sweat!"
"That's not who Spyro is," Everyone knew this for a fact, and even for Kettu and Xvar who didn't really know too much on him, it was enough for a counter against these claims, to which Xvar spoke first on, "Spyro's not a pussy, kid: not like you."
Seth showed teeth to Xvar, but didn't have a chance to say anything as Kettu followed up, "Spyro's only downside from how we see, is his constant need of battle. Though, with how he is now, nothing even comes close to being able to satisfy his need of a real battle. If he wanted to take you all on by himself, he would've. But once you brought family into it, the fun he could've and would've had was all but gone."
This was rather amusing for Seth to hear, "So, heh-heh... he's a masochist?"
"Incorrect," Volteer was quick and to the point to where this dragon was wrong, "Masochist: Noun. Describes a person who derives sexual gratification from their own pain, and or, humiliation. Spyro's more so a protege. Because of our guidance and wisdom through our ages, we assisted in his mind's connection to aspects in his viability. For him, strength means safety; disconnecting himself from intrusive thoughts on taking advantage of the weak and what's beneath him."
"In simply terms, eat shit and die," Flair rounded up what Volteer was trying to say, seeing him getting lost in his vocabulary, "Linda," Once again, the gaze alone of this fire female scared the shadow female to no end, "Tell me honestly; and I guess this goes out to you other three as well, but... how did Seth describe us? Did he, dig deep into your thoughts? Did he give horrible scenarios where one of you would die at the slip of not making the decision to kill, considering we'd kill without a second thought?"
Unsurprisingly, Linda nodded, and for the other three to remember, it made more teeth show to Seth, "He... told us about the rather high possibility that someone would die if we came here. When we say it was just us, we were confused when Seth said he had a plan. As my sister said, we knew of reinforcements and that my mate would make the call when asked, but we didn't know what for. We knew fighting you all would be a losing battle, but... if we took even one of you out, especially Serena or Ava, we believed the world would become a better place."
"So why didn't you even make an attempt to attack me?"
"Oh, well... not only are you scary as shit," Linda giggled, "But beautiful! Don't get me wrong... it's just... I knew fighting you would be a losing battle... And considering everyone was already getting their asses kicked, had me and my mate needed to run... we would've... ...or at least... ...I would've stayed behind so he could run..."
"Till death do us part," Dalton held her paw, "You know me running wouldn't have been an option. I was against you even attacking in the first place. So... Flair... thank you. I... for the entirety of our trip here, I feared what would come of her... ...if there would've been a possibility of a hostage situation against us, but... thank you."
Flair didn't like the feeling of a warming heart, "Don't thank me!" Her yelled surprised the four, "Focus on that lying prick over there!"
"Whoa. Flair, language," Malefor shuck his head to her word choice.
"But she's right," Kayla got back on track with what she's wanted to say, "Hey... Dark Dragons," Kettu and Xvar both turned to her, "It may mean nothing coming from the enemy: coming from me. But... would you... could you let Spyro now... ...could you tell him that we're... ...we're... ...we're afraid," This confused not only them, but many more as this could be taken in a hundred different directions, "At least... I know I am. Right now, I'm afraid on whether or not we're the good guys or not... I'm... women enough to admit that... I'm afraid of him: afraid of Spyro. I'm afraid because... what if we're all being played? What if you guys: the city, and the rebels, are all teaming up just to take us down?"
Being the leader of the Rebels herself, it was easy for Serena to give more gratification than what anyone else could, "I can stitch some of those fears; especially the one where we're your enemy," Of course, by being the enemy, taking her word compared to others to whom she trusted was a flip of a coin, but at this point, Kayla and the others wanted gratification in anyway, "I... feared the same, actually. I feared, with Spyro's power, he wouldn't hear me out. Spyro would give me hope of saving my husband from prison, but then backstab us and have my family all thrown in jail, all so he could appease Amara and gain her military might."
"And? What was his reaction?" Kayla wondered more on where Spyro's mural rights stood.
"He... knows that. He... understands what he could do... how none of this should be of any concern to him. If he so wanted, he could have us locked up sooner: to gain the trust of Amara and the city quicker. That way... the Rebels as a problem is no more, Spyro gets what he wants, and we'd simply... rot in that... hellhole till the day we die," Hearing that Spyro acknowledged what he could do only scared Kayla and the others more away from him now, afraid he'd do the same to them or anyone else he met, "Spyro told me to beg for what I wanted... He wanted me on my knees and at my weakest: truly wanting to see if I even cared."
"He forced you to your knees?" She growled a little to this, "You Rebels are the worst of the bunch, but... if you were coming to him in the need of help, why the hell would he force you through all that? Why would he want such power over you? That doesn't sound like a hero, that sounds like a disgusting creature who enjoys the weakness in others."
"He was weak, and tired, but didn't want to show it," Serena came to Spyro's defense, feeling exactly what Kayla was feeling when first meeting him, "Amara did a number on him emotionally. Attacked his whole family, tried to turn him against his lover, and didn't give a rat shit about anyone else but him. She was here to be his mate, and that was it. Already he was annoyed, and considering Axel and Amara told them about what us Rebels did to many, he didn't trust us... didn't believe we were just as sick and weak as anyone else."
"Sick? Because of those you murdered?"
"We haven't killed anyone!" Being a prefect time to make her stance, she did so, "We know for a fact someone else out there is killing those in our name. We've tried to be peaceful on multiple occasions, but information either gets leaked and our peace talkers get assassinated, or we set up an ambush to stun dragons into talking with us, but that gets leaked too... and all those we try to talk to always end up dead. Spyro... is our last hope... he's the only reason we're here today: to have a reason to smile tomorrow. Though... don't let that foul you. We haven't smiled in years... not until we made our way here. Not until we found this... home."
Kayla and the others didn't know which side to lean on, considering more information was either needed or not helpful in ways of tilting the scale. Instead of dumping more confusing information, Kayla kept things simple and rolled it back a bit, "Time out for a second. Let's get back to what Spyro did. How rough was he? And why would you stand here and defend him for what he's done? Is it because you fear him? You know even in his sleep, he'll hear?"
"Hehe, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a little scary," Keeping good in tone, Serena giggled both nervously, and happily, "It was really my fault. I came here and threatened to attack them and melt others with my poison. I... wanted everyone here to think I was powerful so they wouldn't take advantage of me. However, even in his sleep, Spyro heard, and he wasn't too happy about hearing his family being threatened. I ducked low and he kept his paw on my head, forcing all that power I thought I had out of me. I was at his mercy, and if he were to say my death was near... there would've been nothing I could've done."
"Was he crushing your head to the floor?"
"He more so hovered. His paw was there, and since I didn't try to move, he didn't put pressure."
"And what about the begging part?"
"Oh... ...that was... ...a test, from Spyro. He wanted to see if I meant how I felt. He didn't know who he could trust, considering Amara and Axel's previous encounter. Spyro said he wouldn't help unless I begged. So... I swallowed my pride, closed my one good, let the tears drop, and with one loud cry, I looked him to his eyes... with both of mine," Thinking about it now, where she was so done and with near nothing to do or feel, Spyro came through for her, "He... healed... my scarred eye... same for my daughter."
"What?" Kayla was a little in shock over this, feeling as though something was missing in this story, "Wa-wa-wa-wa-wait. If you supposedly came here, threatened his family, had no backing on whether or not you're really the enemy, wanted his help to save your husband, and neither of you having even the slightest idea on if one is a psycho killer, he simply healed... your wounds?" This made next to no sense when really thinking about it all together in a nice puzzle, "That doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't he feel more inclined to keep you wounded in case you really were to attack?"
"I think another question needing answered is Seth's lie," Flair noticed it, as had many others, but she wasn't afraid to speak, "Thought you said those wounds were fresh, Seth. Why does it sound like Kayla's always known about the scars she's had?"
"I hate women who don't know their place," Seth tried not to spit, "Stay out of man's conversation. Your brains should only work when we tell them to."
"Good thing Spyro's asleep," Flair walked head first to Seth, stretching her head from side to side, ready at all hands to snap his neck now.
"Whoa whoa whoa! Easy, Flair, easy!" Cyril knew he needed to stop her before she made a mistake and proved Seth right, "Look at it this way! Seth is simply proving time and time again that he's simply been manipulating them. He attacked us first, threatened us, and lied to everyone here. I have hope that Kayla and the others are seeing this as well."
"Oh we are," Kayla showed teeth to Seth, "Just wait until your father hears about what you've done."
"Shut up!" Slapping a paw to the ground, the idea of his father alone upset Seth, "He won't hear a word about this!"
The four were clearly shifting sides on who was in the right, and who was in the wrong. Flair snarled, ready with sharpened fins and a tensed body to kill. They all knew that, and from one of her previous kills, they knew she wouldn't hesitate to make a brutal show of an execution. Keeping the momentum they had, and proving to even more that she wasn't evil, Serena wished to continue, "Kayla... going back," Teeth were still shown, not to Serena, but for what Seth was, "Spyro, did, ask, for something in return. He wasn't about to do all this work for nothing."
"Let me guess. Sex?" A little hesitant to say, Kayla hoped Spyro was different, "You have a child, and a husband who's awaiting his return to you. Is he really that sick and deranged?"
"If I have to take your head out your ass I will break your neck in the process," Cynder was enjoying her time sitting with her lover and day dreaming about all that could happen tonight, but hearing Spyro get bashed for something that wasn't even true, her scales lit a blaze, and her eyes burned deep when looking into Kayla's, "He wanted Serena and Ava to smile for once in their lives. Spyro's one to request joy, not sexual desires. I might have had a shitty past, but do you honestly think any of us would sit here and love this purple dragon if he thought that way? I'm a bitch, not blind. But maybe you having your eye sight makes you blind, so I wonder what would happen if I took that."
"Damn, girl," Flair liked this Cynder, "No offense to you, Kayla. Just like a woman who knows when to take charge."
Having an idea as to why she was being so aggressive towards her, Kayla took a second to breathe before apologizing, "Cynder, I'm... sorry... ...I'm sorry for attacking Spyro. I didn't want him to attack back, but the fact that he didn't, I... I didn't know what to trust at that point. And... If I'm being honest... I was a, little, pissed off for what he did to Talon. No hard feelings... I hope."
"Her anger isn't towards you, Kayla, it's towards Seth," Kettu knew of how Cynder was really feeling, and from her response, or lack thereof, they knew he was right, "No hard feelings too, but with what you know, I hope you understand we're not the bad guys. In fact, we were planning on setting up a meeting tomorrow with Amara and Serena. The Rebels, and the City. If you'd like, considering you all also have your group against the City, you can join too."
"Oh, we'll join. Just not in ways you'll be able to understand," Seth was ready to leave now, having an idea on what his plans would be for tomorrow.
"Does that seem safe?" Kayla questioned this meet up, "Almost all peace talks have been interrupted by some form of terrorism. If you make a meeting here, what makes you think word won't get out and you'll all be attacked? Worse case scenario, someone gets killed."
"Well that's the thing, isn't it?" Xvar smiled to see where this plan was going, "Only we know about this plan, and in the case of sending information to Amara and Axel, they will be the only two dragons in the City to know. Which means, if we do get attacked, we can heavily narrow our suspects down to only us. One by one, the weak will be weed out, and we'll find who's truly lying."
It was rather scary to hear how smart these Dark Dragons were. They seemed cunning; easily able to manipulate or twist words while still sounding firm on their tone; absent of any lies or skipped breaths in their voices. These minds worked alike, and understanding it more, it was a fear that stacked on what many already had of Spyro, and Kayla commented on it, "It's hard to trust someone when they know of the powers they have," Her voice showed fear, shivers, and an unsettling tone many felt too, "Instead of one mind working, it's three: you, your friend, and Spyro. You all work together in power, smarts, and the actions you take, you know they're all... cagey."
"Discreet, elusive, evasive, circumspect, equivocal!" Volteer and Ersa spoke together in unison, nailing their words and tones on point with one another.
After hearing this, their connection together surprised all. Many dropped their jaws, specifically those who were not used to seeing such an event; such a otherworldly bond. It took some time, but Kayla found her voice, "H... How... how did you two... you... how did you know what she'd say? How did you know... what he'd say? How... I... I can't..."
"Their connection together breaks space and time. Don't question it," Malefor knew this all too well, still surprised even to this day on how well they communicate, "OH MY GOD! WAIT!" His sudden cry-like yell made everyone jump, and that went double for those who didn't know him, afraid he was gearing for an attack, "Volteer... DUDE! VOLTEER! I just had the funniest thought!" He was scared, as was anyone else, "If you two synchronise so well, do that mean your pull out game is strong?"
"WHAT?!" All were disgusted to hear such a question, and Volteer followed up, "WHO WOULD EVER ASK SUCH A QUESTION?!"
"DUDE! Think about it! Say, Ersa doesn't want to get pregnant. Does that mean instead of you saying you're about to let loose, you can just, back it up because you two know? So she doesn't have to tell you to pull out?"
"DISCIPLINARY ACTION!" Volteer slapped his paw to the ground.
This slap caused lightning to surge from under, forcing the ensuing force to crack through the ground as it traveled. Malefor saw this, but couldn't react in time, and instead took the full force of his attack. It wasn't a standard color either. Volteer made sure to go all out with his blue power. Taking no time at all, the lightning shot through his body from tail to head, locking his joints and causing a stiff feel to everything within him. No reaction was given, but after being electrocuted for a couple of seconds, his scales burned of smoke, as did a now lingering smell of ash. With nothing to hold him up, his body fell to the floor with big thud. Carith would've liked to help, but now seeing his body weak and frail, ideas came to her mind, "I'm just gonna take advantage of your weak figure..." Moving to her side and standing over his laying figure, she wondered what she'd take first, "Malefor, sweetheart. I'm going to roll you over, but don't be surprised if you get a snout full of my second lips."
"Goddamn, Carith," Claire shuck her head.
"HE'S MINE, DAMNIT!"
"Malefor, you're so... STUPID!" Ersa showed anger of her own, "Volteer doesn't waste! So why would he ever pull out?! Unless of course he wants to see me covered, but that's a different story!"
"ERSA!" Even for Volteer, he was surprised to hear her say this.
"And to think, I thought I was walking into a war zone when I first met you all," Flair sighed, shaking her head to see and hear all that was happening.
"Kayla," Getting back on track, or at the very least, trying to hide what all was being said, Kettu corrected the course, "We can help move these bodies out of Warfang on your departure. We've had darkness surrounding their minds to keep them asleep while we spoke. So once you're gone and out of here, we can wake them."
Kayla sighed somewhat, afraid of what the ensuing days would bring. But she kept her head held high, and understood as of now who the enemy was, "Thank you. We... we'll take our leave, and hopefully not a sour one. We've caused enough trouble, and I hope there's no hard feelings," Kettu nodded to her, helping her feel a little better about what this family really was, "Come on, Seth. You lost, just admit that. Once we get back home, you can have fun explaining why our armor and weapons were damaged, considering when we left, you said we were simply scouting."
"Don't worry about that," Seth stood tall, seeing no loss here, "I have the perfect idea on what I'll say to The Father," Walking to the entrance of the Chambers, his arm slammed against the side of Dalton's, showing distaste and displeasure, "You're all more stupid than I thought. Wars are won through countless battles. One loss means nothing to me."
"You say that like you're trying to start a war," Kayla wasn't the only one who noticed this, and even as Seth left, she gave him squinted eyes from a serious face.
Knowing the walk home wasn't going to be an easy one, the stress now weighted on her was tiresome. Kayla was upset, afraid, and distrusting of everyone now: aside from the four she knew closely. The fear of the unknown got to her, and she needed some form of closure, "So then... what now?" Her head turned back around to face everyone else, however, she first faced the floor for a second, afraid of what might come her way, "You two going to follow us back home and burn our homes down when you get the chance? Will you hold us all hostage and toss us out like bad baggage to the wolves out there?"
"We've already made it painfully clear we don't care to harm you," Kettu stayed calm, knowing that this trust they could've had for one another was faint, similar to how they were with Spyro in the beginning, "We will move the bodies when you leave, and that's it. Or at least, what Spyro's instructed us to do. We care little for your squabble, though Spyro feels inclined to help."
"What? Why? Why would he want to help us? And with what?"
"You're scared, Kayla. Spyro knows that. There's something more you aren't telling us," Him catching on proved they outlived their stay, and at this point, such a simple mission turned into a horror show, "Spyro is too, so don't worry. But when it comes to A.D.O., what they stand for, what the City is, and who the Rebels really are; one thing that stays consistent between all these stories is the City's corruption, and the falsification of who's really the enemy. As a matter of fact, as of right now, even after Seth attacked, no one here, is the enemy."
"And I know you may think we're called the Anti Dragon Organization, but Seth told you the truth. We stand for 'All Dragons Organised'. And where Seth might've come off as a little evil, he would never kill a soul. The death of Serena or Ava would've taken part from The Father, or rather, their execution. But I'm even more upset because my body can't wrap its head around what's right and what's wrong," Not only was she battling one side against the truth and the lie, but now having to consider themselves as the real terrorist was a fear in its own right, "We would've slept soundly once Serena and Ava were dead but... now... with this information..." Her paws trembled at the idea, "What would I have done to myself?!" It wasn't easy to think or say for her, "What if we found this information afterwards?! What if... what if Ava was crying to her mother, begging for their death not to happen-not because she wanted to kill us...! But because... she was afraid... her mother... was dying right in front of her eyes, and she couldn't... do anything... she... Serena, I'm..."
"I'm sorry, Kayla," Serena wasn't the only one hurt by the idea, but it brought light into what was really going on, "We don't want war... ...What started out as a small bout between two sides, we were simply fighting in, I guess you could say, a cold war. Tensions were high between both sides, but neither really wanted conflict. We wanted change, yet they weren't so keen on the idea. Unfortunately, at some point, the trigger was pulled, and a colleague of mine bursted through the doors to my home to tell us war was at hand."
Kayla wanted to have more to say, however, in the shadows of Spyro's mind, he continued to work; much faster than anyone else could've, aside from Volteer and Ersa's mind. The two yellow dragons stayed out of this, realizing more and more, this was the conversation for the big boys. Kettu was quick to bring this up, at orders from Spyro, "So then you don't even know who started the war?" Serena shuck her head: without the information he was seeking, "Do you know what started the war between you and A.D.O.?"
"Kayla, do you want me to go first, or you?" Serena asked a confusing question at first, but she gave more context afterwards, "What would be more beneficial to each side? Do I talk first and you dispute my claims, or do you speak first, and I'll give my side? I don't want us to think the other needs a higher voice, or that we need to outdo the other in terms of how severe something was."
No time was needed for Kayla to think about this, "You go first, and tell me why we found a dead dragon mutilated in your home."
"Okay..." At all and ready to give the info dump, no information was left out, "We caught this dragon hiding in a tree from one of our fake meet ups. We purposefully leaked information in hopes someone would take the bait, and they did. Once we had apprehend the dragon, he was scared... really, scared. So, we took him to our house to which only me and my husband were staying in. It took some time for him to calm, considering he was chained to our wall and with nowhere to go. We didn't want him running free in fears he'd attack, or if he were to try and poison someone, later booking it to the door and out our house, leaving the whole plan in shambles. We took all the precautions we could," Taking a slight breather, she got back on track, "After some time had passed, we offered him a drink: something to help calm his nerves. The drink we made was from special berries we hand picked and forced through a juicer. With my husband being wind, and me being poison, we didn't have a fear dragon to help calm him."
"Why didn't you get someone?" Kayla was quick to question, "And what, special berries, are you talking about? The kind that makes men go suicidal? Is that what killed him?"
"I... didn't want others to know this as they're considered poisonous but... Lilly Berries are... probably the most delicious things ever turned into liquid. It's rather easy to make them taste good. As long as you know the poison you have within the berries, you can find out just how much of a counter you need to destroy the poison while keeping the flavor."
"And did you fail? Is that why he died?"
"No, I... I very much succeeded... and it was one of the only reasons he calmed down. He knew the smell and was afraid we were trying to kill him but... like I said... it took time. We didn't want a fear dragon helping because... we didn't trust our own group of people. So rather a fear dragon walking in and making things worse, we wanted him as he was. A simple shadow dragon with only his mind, heart, and soul with no one to tell him otherwise."
Kayla as many others felt the same: they were hesitant on the story. As it seemed now, the Rebels were more afraid of who they were than that of A.D.O.. That didn't stop her from continuing, and no one else really made a voice known on whether or not she was in the right or wrong. For now, the story continued, and Serena readied herself, "After time, he said he was cold, so we gave him a blanket. With a drink in paw and some warmth over his back, we were getting somewhere. He told us his name, where he was from, and that... he was a member of A.D.O.. He told us the truth, about you all being organized and what your origination stood for. It was easier to relate then as, no one else was involved, and we needed not to fear what was next. I... took a liking to Sergei..."
"We all liked him," The calm emotions she was starting to feel faded, and Kayla had some choice words, "He was a lovable idiot. He had never done anything wrong, and when he did, the amount of hate and sorrow he had for letting others down was unlike anyone in this world. Which, in case you were wondering, he had a mate, but she's dead now. Losing him made her lose herself, so she ran into a group of dark creatures on purpose just to die," Anger boiled back to its highest point for her, "DON'T SPEAK LIKE YOU KNEW WHO HE WAS! Either way, with your fake information; your busted ass plan, he died because of you! You say you haven't killed anyone and yet, his blood is on your paws!"
"KAYLA!" Xvar put his foot down.
Not realizing it yet, her anger only made things worse for Serena. It wasn't something she wanted to think on, but it brought up memories on what she had. Tears were hard to be found in her eyes, considering the emotional rollercoaster she's already had to ride throughout her time here. So while her eyes might've not shown the pain through water, her voice sure did, "I'm sorry..." The broken words from a broken woman was a hit to the heart for many, and the reasons behind her emotions spoke volume, "After that night, I lied in wake for my death to happen... ...I cried to my husband... ...I tossed and I turned and I couldn't... ...I couldn't even sleep..." Kayla backed down from her advancements, feeling a sense of dread, and in a way, connection to how she felt, "I couldn't stop thinking about his smile... ...I had nightmares where the smile in his face would suddenly pour blood from his mouth and eyes..." The nightmare appeared for her once again; being so traumatic that it was nearly hard to forget, "I went to hug him because I believed he was safe... but when I backed up... his stomach was cut open... and he yelled directly at me with no where for me to run... ...He said... ...'this was your fault'..."
Serena's eyes clenched shut, wishing to forget this memory all together. The pain it caused was unavoidable. Either her eyes closed and she experienced it, or she sat there wide awake, feeling and reliving a nightmare in real life: her mind piecing together what had happened with her surroundings. It was a pain all felt for her. She didn't leave any of the details out, and yet the story wasn't even finished. More pain was to be had, and where many didn't want for her to continue, Kettu took lead, "Serena... what, happened."
Breathing in and breathing out, thinking about the time it took for the shadow dragon to recover in her nightmares, she wanted this living one to be over. Serena tried not wasting the time she had and was reluctant to continue at first. But remembering what Spyro had said, it helped her remember who she was. I need to stay strong... I don't want Ava to fear for my health, and I don't want this opportunity to prove we're innocent to fade. For my husband's safety, and my daughter's, I can't let Spyro's help be all for nothing. Taking one more quick breath, she was ready to continue, "Turns out, Sergei wasn't there to attack, but rather, to obverse. He didn't believe a group such as our own would be so vicious, so he wanted to hide in wait and report back to you all with this new found information. He was happy to see our hospitality, and taking a big risk, we asked if he'd like the chains off. We noticed his vision look to the door when we had said this, and unfortunately, even though he chuckled and smiled; rather joyful at the idea... we went back on our words. After some time back and forth, relaying the information we had to the other, we came to an agreement on how we'd meet up. He spoke about The Father, and knew the best case scenario would be us coming to you guys. It would be me, my husband, and The Father in a secret area that supposedly is like a fallout bunker. We agreed on this. And where all was going well, a fight had broken out in our main square to the middle of our neighborhood. Running to the door and noticing the brawl, our paws stepped outside... but at that exact same moment... Sergei cried out the most... horrifying of sounds..."
"To help you take a breath, where was Ava in all this?" Kettu asked her.
"With Halton and Argus off in their own rooms. This was after the incident of my eye and her own, so it was hard to find anyone to trust. But... those two came through, and I feel like are the only ones I trust nowadays."
"Speaking of," Sharpening her fins, Flair wanted answers, "Which one of you punk ass bitches is named Argus? Don't exactly appreciate the name, so if you'd like to step forward and take a blade to the stomach, that'd be welcomed."
"Welcomed for who?!" Argus, the dragon off to the left and on the outside of the Chambers, held his paws to the side entrance with only his head showing; afraid of what she might do, "I already had a big ass piece of metal pierce me in the chest, and now you want to open me from the stomach?! What ever this other Argus did, I'm the exact opposite!"
"He gave her love, support, and protection," Malefor chuckled, just wanting to mess with this guy.
"THEN I'M THE OPPOSITE OF HIS OPPOSITE!"
"That's a double negative. Do you need a shovel to dig your grave?"
"His bones I'm sure I could make a shovel with," No backstory, interests, or tastes were needed: Flair hated the name and whom ever dawned it.
"Hey," Kettu had his orders, "You all can bicker later. Serena, please continue."
Serena had lost track of what she was doing for a second there. It was a surprise to see a threat be made, but not acted upon. It was an escape to what she was seeing and feeling, noticing Flair's anger, but in a way, playful rage. Her heart was in the right place, and these thoughts helped her breathe, Why... why do I love it here? Something about this group of dragons, they just... they feel like a real family... something I've lost over the years to this damn war. Which gives me all the more reason to give this all I've got! Back on track and ready to go at the story once more, she continued, "After turning back around to hear the cries, we noticed two dragons had made their way into our home. Of course, they were shadow dragons, so they proved to be nearly invisible. By the time we were able to act, the damage was done. One had carved his tail blade through Sergei's stomach and chest from underneath, and another made sure to put his blade through his throat. Whoever killed him; whoever these dragons were, the kill they made seemed personnel, like they targeted him and wished for his death to be as painful as possible. We tried chasing after them but... a wind dragon, and a poison dragon, compared to the two shadow dragons? We were no match for their speed," Tough night to recall, but what was even worse was the scars that continued there on after, "Kayla... to you and everyone else in A.D.O... if you're truly not the bad guys... then... please... ...there has to be someway we can make things right. Someway that'll fix what the past has done to us."
All the information was there, even if many more questions were to be had. However, this was set for another time, and where Kayla went to speak, Kettu's voice went over hers, "We can all make this right," They all stopped to listen, "Kayla, if you could get The Father; the leader of A.D.O., here, by tomorrow, we could have the meeting of a lifetime. Amara, Serena, and The Father can speak on all fronts. Nothing will be held back, and having the meeting here will ensure everyone's safety."
"And what stops you from killing us?" Kayla was quick on the draw, almost snapping at him in a way, "The main powers in this world; the secondary conflicts such as us and the Rebels. How are we to believe this isn't some ploy to get us all into one place so you could kill us! For all we know, Serena might actually not be the enemy, and in reality, you're the real threat: the thing we should've always feared to meet."
"In the thirty plus years of my life, I've never once killed. But if you want me to, I will," No games were to be had between the two, and that went double for the avoidance of back and forth banter, "Quit wasting your breath, Kayla. For the last time, we don't give a shit about your kind. What Spyro says is what we do, and the only reason you're not dead is because he's instructed us to help you out till the very end."
"WHY DOES HE HELP PEOPLE HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW?!" Slapping her paw to the ground, hearing that she was under the wing of some stranger was a massive annoyance to her, "Serena spoke highly on Spyro even though they just met. He could've killed any of us; he could've crushed my lover's neck, but instead, he broke his own bones to scare me. He attacked because we did, he helped even when Seth was being a prick, and no matter what we said or did, he kept trying, and trying, and trying to help us see the light... to see the world as... a glass half full," Above all else, this was the final question she wanted answered for now, "Who the hell is this purple dragon, and why is he standing in front of those in battle; to protect and care for both the good, and the bad...?"
Cynder had stayed quiet for too long now. The only reason she hadn't spoken up was because of her dozed off state. Spyro; to his right side with his arms and legs facing in towards the Chambers, gave his body as a pillow to her. Cynder herself didn't quite lay, but rather floated. She sat down in front of his stomach and between both his arms and legs. The positioning helped her head lay to his side, resting with closed eyes and a calmed breath. This was more so thanks to her lover's soothing up and down movements from the air he took in and released. Feeling now was the best time to speak up on her hero, Cynder's voice was very weak; letting know just how tired she really was, "Why do you think I question his love for me every day?" Kayla, like everyone else, looked to her with open mindsets, wanting all she was saying to be heard, "He chose me... a killer... someone who took his parent's lives away from him and deprived his future on what could've been. Spyro looked past my corruption, looked past what I had done, and risked his life to save mine: the life of a complete stranger. The only knowledge he had of me was that I was a vicious monster. And yet... even after he saved my life... even after I showed him the damage I could do... he followed me outside the Dragon Temple. Away from help, away from the Guardians, away from... any form of safety. Even after everything... I threatened him. I threw my tail blade up and to his neck, and yet... he never moved. He simply sat there like a cocky son of a bitch and laughed at me," Cynder's giggle helped many more feel for her, and they couldn't help but give laughs the same, "Spyro's not perfect... or at least... that's what he says. But still, to this day, he's kept his morals. Spyro is... ...Spyro is..."
"Grrrrrrrrr~."
Out of nowhere and to the surprise of many, Spyro growled within his sleep. It was especially surprising for even Kettu and Xvar. The growl shocked many. Rather one of anger or fear, it was lust filled. What ever it was that stirred in his mind caused him to do the same. A smile showed to his face, along side a blush and a rested yet ready and tensed body. They didn't quite know what was happening, but from the sleep talking Spyro was doing, an idea was easily put together, "Easy, Cynder, easy~..." His voice trailed for a second, and after a little more time, he had more to say, "We'll go slow... slow... and... and easy~. I won't... hurt you~..."
"Spyro is horny apparently," Malefor wondered if that was what Cynder was trying to say.
"Same," Carith crossed her arms, trying to hide her flustered and puffed cheeks.
Ignoring the two's banter, excitement was easily had for Cynder, enjoying the words and smiles he had. Compared to before, he truly seemed relaxed now. Even in his sleep, his paws and legs twitched, almost as if his body was being touched from within his mind. Where it was all fun and a heart race for her, Cynder didn't believe she was this lucky, "No... no, there's no way Spyro's actually dreaming about me and in such a way!" Her culprits were the only two Dark Dragons who had access to her lover's mind, "Kettu! Xvar! What the hell did you two do?!"
"Nothing! Honestly!" Kettu waved his paws in front of his face, rather afraid of what Cynder could do; same went for Xvar.
"Spyro stopped talking to us awhile ago!" Xvar was honest, "The only time we can really speak to him is when his mind is still going: like having thoughts before you go to bed. His mind is now completely at rest, so we can't do anything or say anything to manipulate his dreams. Well... We probably could but... we aren't and we haven't!"
"Then that's not really good..." Ersa saying this put out all kinds of danger signals for Cynder, and her head snapped around, as did her body, to confront her yellow female friend.
"What?!" Cynder's heart raced for a different, more agonising reason, "Why?! Why is that not good?!"
"Well... sleep talking could vary in a variety of different forms depending on the person. Where it could just be a simple dream, it could also conjure up another idea I have in mind," Ersa caught everyone's attention, desperately awaiting her answer on what might be wrong, "Just a theory, but it could be Spyro's brain trying to release endorphins. Endorphins are chemically produced by the body to relieve stress or pain. In Spyro's case, I'd have to say his brain is giving himself a perfect dream to release these chemicals in order to protect himself from a brain overload. With all this information, emotion, lack of sleep, and many other forms of stress, if Spyro doesn't lay off, he could cause his brain to break. An over-loaded or over-worked brain can cause a number of health issues, and in terms for what that means for Spyro in a simplified fashion; who he is now, he'll become the exact opposite of himself."
"WHAT?!" All had the same reaction, but for Cynder, her voice was much louder and filled with nothing but panic, "Then-then-then-what do we do?! Do I let him sleep or wake him?! Would him staying asleep possibly cause a nightmare and overload his brain?! Or would waking him remind him of what's going on in the world and that would turn him?!"
"Cynder, relax, it's going to be okay. Me and Volteer could easily make something to soothe out his brain: nearly a full on mental massage. Just one of the perks of having the two smartest minds come together."
"Of course we come together~," Volteer had to say it, and he wasn't about.
"I knew you'd say that," Ersa wasn't the least bit upset, "But, to answer your question honestly, Cynder, waking him may be the better option," There were many reasons behind this, "It's better and more soothing to Spyro's mind to know those he saw left with a proper and more lighthearted goodbye. It's like if Spyro laid next to you after some crying, but then suddenly, you were gone. His mind will compile that, and the last thing we need is for his brain to fear something else."
"Then what exactly do we need to do?"
All eyes went wide to hear this question from Kayla of all people. Serena and Ava were sure to back her up, but hearing it from someone who saw this family as villains shocked all. Smiles were given to her to see the need to help, and Kayla showed teeth to them, trying to hide her blush from the warm feeling she got, "I don't want to own anyone anything! I'm simply doing a favour for what we did. Also, with Spyro the way he is; in such a vulnerable position, I wonder what he'd do when feeling weak himself."
"Then... best thing for us to do is this," Ready with a plan, Ersa gave it, "Kettu, Xvar, if you two could find Seth and dump those bodies, that should help Spyro forget the guilt of attacking."
"Seth's at the northwest side of the wall. Should be outside considering there's no enemies, but if you need to drop the bodies off, do it there," Kayla gave the location, "And why would Spyro feel guilty for attacking? Wouldn't he feel a sense of pleasure knowing those that harmed him, or those who were out to harm his family were dealt with accordingly?"
"Violence brings more violence. He tried at all his best to keep things peaceful. He broke down and allowed Seth the first hit in hopes he wouldn't attack," The yellow female was very aware at this point on what Spyro would feel for what's happened, "Getting rid of the bodies will help him forget this altercation happened all together, considering his brain is processing information at a much slower and near invisible rate."
It was just another reason for Kayla to question the purple dragon's true nature, but while all that was going on, Kettu and Xvar understood what they needed to do. Conversations were to continue, though for Serena, Ava, the other two Rebels, and the remaining four, their eyes grew wide to what they were witnessing. The Dark Dragons moved in a puff of smoke: reappearing and disappearing after taking a body, but coming back with nothing in their arms. They were as fast as they were agile, and it was another fear many had to contend with when it came to Spyro. With the bodies now gone, that left a smaller loose end, to which Ersa made those who needed to act aware of the situation, "Serena, Ava; you two go stand by the other four. We need to give Spyro the idea that you all have grown a bond to each other. Seeing smiles from you all, and the lack of tensed or fearful thoughts, it would benefit all."
Easier said than down for the two groups. Fear was still to be had between both sides, however, a quick compromise was made by Serena. She wanted to act fast to avoid the stink eyes the two would give each other, and it worked, "Kayla... I... I just want my husband back... And here soon, hopefully, our group... my group of... Rebels... will disband. And with Spyro's help, a change in how the City operates will hopefully be right at the edge of the horizon. I don't wish to harm you... I don't wish... to harm anyone... so..."
"Serena..." Kayla cut her off, "Stay in your lane for now, and I will do the same. I'm still not convinced that anything that's happened here is even real, and for what's already happened... I need more to go off of then what we've gotten today. Maybe in the future, I could learn to trust you... but at least for now, I'll agree to not be your enemy."
This was a joy for all to hear. Now confident enough in trusting this other group, Serena took a sigh, a step up, and made her way over to the four. Ava was hesitant, afraid of losing the sight she had just acquired once again. But where her mother stayed strong, something told her to do the same. On top of the feeling and image of a mighty parent and guardian, she had even more help thanks to a new found friend: Trish, "It's okay, Ava..." The white female turned to see the absolute trust and confidence in her eyes, "Your mother wouldn't put you in a position that would harm you. Your enemies mainly consists of those you've never met, those you don't know... ...You know Kayla... you know her sister, and her lover... ...You know most of all that... they're not going to hurt you... and neither will we."
Having the support from Trish, and seeing her mother stand tall without fear, a single sigh was needed for Ava before she could continue. Hesitant on her first step, once seeing her mother sit down with the group of four and nothing having happened, the mother smiled to her child. This gave her more of a boost in considering what her next move would be. She decided on moving forward, just as her mother had. With the bodies gone, the Rebels next to the four from A.D.O., and no sign of Seth, it was the perfect condition for Spyro. The destruction was hidden from behind the others at the entrance, so it needed not to be attended to. Now that all were in place, and with the two Dark Dragons having returned, Ersa was ready to finish the preparations, "All that's left is for you to awaken your sleeping prince, Cynder."
"But what if that upsets him?!" Cynder was ready and hesitant to decline what she was saying, "He needs the rest, and I know what you said about closure but..."
"Cynder... ...all of his emotions will stack. If we don't wake him, his body will wake itself out of fear for what happened while he slept, anger for what had happened and for what he couldn't do, anxiety to know he's had no time to prepare or plan for what's to come, and dread over feeling he did more bad than good, and that good that he has done, he'll feel like it wasn't enough."
"Stop trying to make it sound like he has supernatural support over others," Hearing what Spyro was more so confused the outsiders that weren't custom to him; upsetting them even, and that was especially for Kayla, "Stop kissing his ass, and stop this constant need to lie. You've already got us to believe in you, so save your breath for when you tell us to beg for our lives so your paws might not break our skulls."
"I thought Kettu and Xvar already made this painfully clear," Cynder growled in annoyance, "We're not your enemy, nor are we psychopaths."
"Saying something is far different than showing. You really think you have our full trust after a couple of hours?"
"You don't, and neither do we to you, but the constant imagery of your imagination; you should really keep to yourself. No one cares to hear such torture."
"And yet you'll enjoy the screams of my dying corps."
"That's not...!"
"Ugh-"
The fighting between the two seized upon hearing a sound. From what they gathered, it was a growl: a very uncomfortable one. Cynder, being the one closest to the growl, directed her eyes to the source. Everyone else followed along to take notice on the stirring, tensing, and aggravated purple dragon body. Spyro's dreams of joy turned to a nightmare, but no one knew what was causing it. His legs started to kicks, his arms tried their best to stretch, and his jaw clenched; the air hissing by his white teeth. The uncomfortable and scary look his body gave raced the beats within Cynder's heart, afraid this pain was more so from the brain stretching the pain all throughout his body. Rubbing her wings against his side and avoiding the strains of his body, her voice she hoped would soothe him, "Whoa whoa whoa, easy, Spyro, easy... ...you're okay... ...you're okay. Everyone's here."
The voice was something he used to wake himself. Trapped in a state of paralysis, his body was desperate to wake, but he couldn't find the power to do so. Kettu and Xvar felt the struggling his heart gave. With the help of their darkness, it wrapped his heart and traveled throughout the veins in his body, connecting straight to the brain. Giving a push with their power, he had the energy to open his eyes. Waking himself thanks to the darkness, and pushing himself for his body to regain energy, his voice was scattered: difficult at first to understand, "Cy-Cyn... Cy, I-don't un-, where... where-ugh."
Shaking off the scattered brain he had, Spyro needed at all possible to stand. Cynder was there, and with the support of her wings shifting, she was able to help him roll over to his stomach for now. Little steps were needed, and it was a scare for many to see Spyro in such a fearful state. It scared them to not know what these fears were. Without him making complete sentences, they couldn't make anything of what he was saying. Growling past the weakness, adrenaline was needed for him. Scaring everyone half to death, snapping and bone cracking sounds shot through his body. Cynder jumped for this, but it didn't stop there. Spyro needed more of a feeling to wake, and in order to do that, he needed his blood pumping. A shard of ice formed to his right paw. With a tight grab and hold over it, he swung it to his shoulder and intentionally stabbed himself. Blood shot from the wound, and where Cynder had no words, others sure did, "SPYRO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
The stab was painful, the darkness rushed through his veins, and now with the adrenaline coursing through his blood, a surge of energy was felt to him. His attention focused left nearly immediately, and where Cynder was still in shock over what's happened, Spyro now showed no signs of slowing down, "Cynder! Do you know where Serena and Ava went?!"
Standing up all to quickly, his body nearly collapsed. His legs and arms folded, and where his wings could've saved himself, there was no operating the meat pile he had become. The daze of what had happened was all but forgotten about when seeing his trip. Acting fast, Cynder's wings curved under his belly and around his right side. This helped her push back where his body was forcing himself down. She was strong enough to keep him a float, and that was also thanks to him fighting back as well. Nothing was to stop what his body wanted. Wobbling his head in anger; knowing just how limited his body was able to work, he was desperate for an answer, "Why... why isn't she with, Trish...? ...Where did Serena go?! Kayla, they... ...they..."
"Spyro, relaaaaaaax," Serena's voice was an immediate head turn for him, now seeing clearly that no one had left yet, "We haven't headed out just yet. It's definitely, probably, maybe pitch black outside. So... hehe... why not pull an all nighter, am I right?"
"Hehe... I... I'm not gonna lie. If I pull another all nighter, I might just die," Spyro; weak and fragile, was still able to use the muscles to make a smile, "Thank Ancestors you all didn't leave yet."
"It's gonna be pretty hard for you to torture us in such a weak state," Kayla was quick to the draw, "Are you the kind of sick bastard who likes watching bad things happen to other people while you do nothing?"
"I do feel like a sick bastard because of what I watch. Every time I close my eyes, I can't stop thinking about Cynder's back-end," The purple dragon laughed, and of course, where Cynder blushed, Kayla growled for the one she had herself, "I do see a switch up in what you meant to say though, Kayla. Did you mean to say, 'Are you the kind of sick bastard who likes taking on bad things that happen to other people while they watch and do nothing'? In that case... I guess you could say that, yeah."
"You would agree with someone watching you struggle while you dealt with their problems."
"Hehehe... Hahaha!" The eight at the entrance were confused by his laughter, "Since I started working at Warfang, I've been shot, stabbed, set on fire, poisoned, shot, sexually assaulted, partially chewed, shot, and declared legally dead: twice on the same day."
"Holy shit," Volteer really had to think about that one, "Great reference but... I think you're right! The times you were training in your home upstairs can consist of shots, you have been set on fire from your abilities, Cynder's poisoned you plenty of times, Amara sexually assaulted you, once again Cynder is another part when it comes to partially chewed, and being declared legally dead twice in the same day happened when Malefor came back. Think about it: we thought you were dead after the fight, and after you were healed and your body took in the gems to which we thought had killed you."
"HAHA!" Spyro found this all to be funny, "My Tuesday's are crazy! Hehehe."
"Spyro, are you... okay?" They enjoyed his exotic excitement and laughs, but once again, for Kayla, and even the others, they were afraid he'd turn serious in seconds and kill them, "Wait... ...no... ...Spyro, why exactly did you still want to talk to us? Did you want to leave a message to others by thrashing our scales, or by emotional dismantling us?"
"He's not going to...!"
"Kettu, it's okay."
Spyro had no anger to what she was saying, not like his Dark Dragon friend. Their bodies didn't stay within Spyro's for long. After having helped him twice now, they decided best to come back out and show their standing figures: Kettu standing off to the right of the two, and Xvar off to the left. While the purple dragon was all in the easy feels, Kettu seemed much more aggravated for some reason. It was something else to contend with, but Spyro made it work, "Hehe... you sound like me when Malefor tries to talk bad about the Dark Dragons. I have your back, Kettu, Xvar... and I'm glad to see you have mine. Is there something that's upsetting you more than that of what Kayla is saying."
"She reminds me of Malefor," Kettu didn't hold back what he was feeling, "As dense and stupid, too."
"Excuse me?!" Kayla showed teeth.
"Whoa whoa whoa! Easy you two!" Spyro tried to be the voice of reason.
Of course, still having that weak feeling, his body nearly fell forward in his attempts to run ahead. Having dealt with him enough by now to understand how his body moves and reacts to certain situations, Cynder was easily able to adjust her wings around to accommodate where his mass was leaning. With a wing over his body and down under his stomach to hold him up, another curved from his right over to his left shoulders; more so blanketing his chest. Catching her attention, Spyro looked to his female, and she looked back in wonder for what he was planning. His smile never faded, and his chuckles didn't waver, "Alright, I have to know. How much of an ass kicking am I going to get for having this ice shard in my scales?"
"Ass kicking? Oh-ho, no. You're getting the full three-sixty bitch slap for doing something so stupid."
"Rest in peace, my boy, Spyro," Malefor saluted his friend, "Bro, when she does a three-sixty and F's your shit up, don't be surprised if you disintegrate from existence. Though, Cynder, I feel like it'd be a lot cooler if you three-sixty him with a sniper that I could make for you. Of course, you'd have to jump off a building and pull out twenty other things before quick scooping him but, I believe in you."
"What an image to have," Volteer sighed.
"Or I could give you the barrel and you can shove it up his-"
"Hush!" Carith covered her lover's mouth with her paw, "And if you try to lick my paw, I will snap your mouth shut to hold your tongue out and put it to good use somewhere else~," Without fear or even hesitation, Malefor wanted to start a fire, so his tongue made work on the palm of her paw, "You want to play, you bastard. Then let's play~."
While Malefor and Carith had their time to wrestle, Spyro, with the help of Cynder using her body to support him like a crutch, made slow steps over to both Serena and Ava. Most eyes were on him, but for the eight who didn't quite understand him just yet, they were all heavily focused to what his true intentions were. Standing so close to Serena now, Spyro had definitely shown his growth. He was near centimeters from being higher than her, and with the mass and strength his body had, it was easy at times to mistake Spyro for a adult. Feeling a sense of hope and enjoyment, many saw that in his eyes, but didn't understand why he'd feel that and not them.
"I'm... sorry for... ...for what I've put you all through. I didn't want you all to leave on a bad note, and in case someone wasn't playing nice, I wanted to make sure you all left with smiles," Plenty of reasons were given as to why he woke; why he was so desperate, and why the stirring was directed to his nightmare and what that nightmare was, "The Guardian's Building is supposed to be a sanctuary; a place to come home to, with a family ready and waiting to smile and enjoy even the little things in life. I want the world to know what that's like: for no one to have to fear being alone. You have fears too, don't you? You told me of these fears and trusted that I wouldn't do anything against you. Even in the most hopeless of times, you came to me, and even knowing the danger, you charged in head first."
"Being strong is... it's what I always should've been," Serena realized this later rather than sooner, "You've taught me so much, and I hope one day, I'll be able to repay and show my gratitude."
"You can do so by getting Amara here without me having to do any work," A weak chuckle escaped his lips, "I need all the sleep I can get for tomorrow. If you need to know my handwriting, I use Risotto Script. I may have grown up with dragonflies, and where their books and writing were very small, I learned how to get past that. Volteer always was handy in the book information he had."
"Fancy," She smiled.
"Hey... Serena..." His voice dipped low; not in a growl or from anger, but a pure form of joy and exhaust, "You will see your husband tomorrow... I promise you that," Her eyes went wide, as did Ava's, wondering what his plan could possibly be, "When writing down the letter, make sure to include the fact that I need your husband in order to lure you into a trap. Once he's free, I can help him to your side, and from there on out, you should have no problem staying reconnected with your mate."
Serena's heart raced to this realization, same for the daughter. The joy that suddenly surged through them, the hope that had such a strong build up, and knowing that what he said spoke nothing but the truth was all so much for them. It was unbelievable to think that tomorrow would carry such excitement and anticipation, but the love didn't stop there. Spyro had more to say: more to do, "Serena, if you wouldn't mind, may I have your paw?" Where she would've hesitated, at this point, she had no doubt in who Spyro was, and willingly rasied her paw as she was instructed, "Thank you," Holding his paw over her own, she looked down to see what he was doing, and whatever it was, he couldn't break the smile on his face, "You know... the darkness... Kettu and Xvar... they've done a lot for me, and have shown me many things. One of these such things is the ability to heal on a molecular level. It's what keeps scars from forming on my body, it's what keeps wounds from becoming permanent on others. And... not only that... all these powers to keep people at their healthiest... it works on others, too. It works on wounds, scarred eyes, and especially, scarred wings..."
As he said this, a sudden pressure came back to her, weighing down her left and right side equally. The pressure was something she had felt before, though for her, it had been so long, she couldn't quite grasp what exactly the weight was. Her paw dropped from his out of a weightless feeling; forgetting all together who was holding or paw or even how to use it. What held her up was all muscle memory. Understanding sooner rather than later to what this weight was, her right wing extend outwards. Serena's heart nearly stopped to see such a sight: to see a near perfect and brand new set of coating on her wing all around. Swooping her head around, just the same as before, her left wing opened in a show of color, softness, and beauty. As if that wasn't enough to garner tears, the mother noticed Spyro had done the same thing for her daughter as well. Ava hadn't seen her mother's wings open, but the same as her, she felt the weight of them coming back to her. Spyro backed away and allowed the two to see what he had done. A quick glance to her left, then her right, Ava showed tears of joy; fully extending her wings in a form of an angel. Though her right wing touched something, and once noticing what it was, her heart skipped a beat. Like an embrace long since forgotten, the cleaned wing of the mother, and the repaired wing of the daughter, touched with a prodigious amount of jubilation. Their bodies were healed, their minds were put at ease, and with at all possible, they wished to soar high above the clouds. These emotions topped of the fact of what more the mother wanted to do, and Spyro knew all about that, "No more excuses, Serena..."
The poison female showed what little tears she had left, same went for Ava. Compared to before, this was everything they could've ever wanted and more. The remaining outsiders took notice, and where Kayla would've liked to find something wrong about Spyro, or even the lies he was sure to make; nothing was seen past what he truly showed: a smile, a warm heart, and brightened purple eyes to the future, "Now... you should feel free to fly, feel free of fear that weighs you down because of limitations; you should feel a sense of achievement, knowing now, when it rains, you can protect, Ava. You can hold her close, you can laugh out loud as you fall from the sky to feel a rush of wind before opening your wings last second. These boundaries that have once bound you are now gone, but you need to understand something," Serena was at all ears, same as anyone else, "Losing one of your fives senses; the ability to walk, the ability to fly, the ability to do anything on your own... ...giving up at the idea of loss is never the answer. You stayed strong when all was lost. You felt like nothing more would come your way aside from a brick wall. Understand that... no matter how far down you may find yourself, no matter how awful things are or seem... there's always someone looking out for you. Your husband to you, you to your husband, and... Ava... to you. You all have each others backs. And from my word to you, you have my backing as well."
No words were found in the voice of Serena, unable to comprehend that such a light came out from the darkness when she needed it the most. When all hope was lost, hope found a way, and took shape of a purple dragon: Spyro. However, her emotions got the best of her, and unknowing in her movements, she moved closer to him. Her lips had salivated, and without a second thought in her mind, she signed her own death warrant, "I love you..."
"Oooooooooh, shit," All in the family knew that was the worst thing she could've said.
"How nice of Spyro to clean you up just so I can have more places to rip through and tear," Cynder was very defensive for what she had said.
"What?!" Realizing now what she had said, Serena was quick to apologize, "No no no, I wouldn't do anything, I swear! It's just... if you ever, need, anything, Spyro, I'd be happy to contribute," Scratching the side of her cheek and failing every which way when trying to hide her blush, the poison female couldn't help but giggle, "You've already done so much for me that I... the only real way I know how to thank you is... ahem... sexual means."
"MOM!" Ava was no about to sit here and listen to this.
"Two more seconds and you would've walked out unscathed. But now it looks like a need to stab a bitch," Hissing past her teeth, Cynder's darkness set a blaze.
"Serena, you have a husband," Spyro shuck his head to what she was saying, "Pay me back by getting Amara here. Make sure to remember what I said so you can reunite with your husband."
"BUT WHY CONTINUE TO HELP?!" Serena was still at such a loss about this, "You've completely healed me and my daughter to new! You're trying to reunite me with my husband and are pushing at all possible to help us rather than to just betray us! But... but... why?!"
"Alright! Fine! You got me," They were in a way interested in what he could be playing at by saying this, "I scratch your back while you watch mine. In reality... I'm trying to... use you... for world peace," Serena and many others sighed, surprised none at this point for such a response, "There! Now that you know that I'm truly using you, what will you do?! Will you send Amara after me?! Will we discuss peace treaties to save the dragon world?! Even though, to be honest..." Now hearing hesitation in his voice, they feared, but once seeing Spyro touch at the stab wound he made in himself with his ice powers; another sigh of relief showed for many, "The adrenaline is wearing off, and the cool liquid feeling is making my blood slow. All I can think about now is sleep. Though, Kayla, I need-"
"Stop..."
Kayla had a higher voice, a higher power, a higher almost everything compared to Spyro. She hated that fact: to know what he was but for him not to act was a huge fear in its own. It didn't help matters when she and Spyro saw through each other. Her fears were easy for him to see, so there was no hiding how she truly felt, "I will bring the Father here tomorrow as well. I already have an idea for what I have to say, and I'll at all possible try to clear your name."
"Would it be too much to ask if you four would show again?" The odd request needed some more information and Spyro gave that, "I would love to continue our talk, Linda. And to make up for what I've done to you, Kayla. I've scarred you both emotionally when it came to my image. You came here afraid of a monster, and... here you'll leave, feeling no different. So... I hope I can-"
"You're not a monster, Spyro," Kayla was woman enough to admit it, "And it better stay that way. We can talk more tomorrow."
"So you'll be there?!" A smile showed to Spyro's face.
"Why the hell not. Everything's been so uneventful up until now, I'd like to see where this goes. I would be afraid of my lover's life, or definitely my sister's, but..."
"I'll watch over them," Keeping the smile and the cherry attitude, a promise was given, as was his word, "I promise, when you're under my roof, apart of my family, or hold sentimental value to anyone here, I'll put my life on the line to watch over everyone," All held onto his words to this regard, taking into account the first ever promise he'd give them, "That's one of many promises I will make to you all, and one of plenty that I will forever cherish and remember."
"Then... I guess... we'll... we'll see you later," Taking her turn to leave, she waved a paw.
"Sleep well you four!"
Kayla, Dalton, Talon, and Linda all turned to make their way out of the building. All that was left now were the Rebels, and where Serena would've liked to rush out as soon as possible, she gave it some time. A nervous chuckle was to be had for sure, and she didn't hold back how she felt, "As much as I'd love to run out into the open and fly at my maximum speed, I would rather be safe than sorry, so I'm going to give it another second or two."
"Don't worry, Serena. Kettu or Xvar could easily escort you if need be," Spyro already had a backup plan.
"That's... very kind of you, Spyro. But I feel like we've done enough, or rather, have prolonged our stay."
"You just want to fly again, don't you."
"And maybe kiss those lips when you're older."
"Alright," Needing no help now, Cynder was easily able to get a hold over her darkness, "Cross my heart, hope to die. Poke my tail blade in this bitches' eye."
Serena laughed a happy giggle before running away from the approaching danger. She knew like anyone else that it was all fun and games. Ava, even without being next to her mother, showed a wide smile, laughing the same as they ran away. Halton and Argus were quick to follow along, though it took a little longer for Halton as he needed to re-gear after having taken off his armor. Now that all were gone, it left the family all alone once again. Knowing nothing more needed to be done for them, Kettu and Xvar made their way back into Spyro's body. With a heavy weighted sigh, one massive amount stress was gone. However, another one showed in the form of a shiny white tail blade pointed directly to his face. Dropping sweat and holding his paws up, Spyro cried, "I didn't do anything! I swear!"
"Kiss her, and you'll be sipping on her blood for the rest of our lives in hell, you understand?" Cynder gave her threat, fearing little for the bloodshed.
"Aw, come on, Cynder. She wants to reward me. Who am I to say no?"
"Spyro... don't play with me. I don't want to ask this after what we've discussed, but I now want to know the truth. Do you actually like her?"
"Cynder, my little shadow, it's okay, I'm only joking. That's more so a hint towards you that I need to get my lips wet with yours after all this time. But..." Noticing the destroyed and disarray conditions of both the ins and outs of the Chambers, Spyro chuckled to see history repeat itself, "First the time with Amara, and now this? Worse part though, the damage couldn't even be kept to a minimal."
"Welllllllll-" Ignitus was now able to confess, "Now that everyone is gone, I guess I could fix everything. That includes your sleep by the way."
"I love how causal you are about it," Malefor smirked, "You're either hella useless or a 'just the right timer'. Crazy how even when you're the Chronicler, you still find ways to be useless like back in the day."
"Like when I was dying on the grass below, so he stayed at the White Isles until everything blew over?" Spyro snickered to his almost demise.
"Alright, calm down now," While a joke, the pain in the red dragon father's heart was still very much there for that day, "Going back though, I can of course clean everything up. Though, about your sleep situation, Spyro. Would you rather sleep the night or feel well rested with my powers and enjoy another all nighter?"
"I... definitely need all the sleep I can get..." Wanting nothing more than to sit down now, or to fully engulf himself in the darkness of sleep, something bothered him, and they could see it, "Listen... everyone... tomorrow isn't going to be a smooth sail, and I think we all know that. Tensions will be high between Axel and Serena, new relationships and ideas will clash with their own, and I feel like Amara will be even more of a pain in the ass trying to back up Axel now that they're in love," Talking about it helped little; with it being out in the open, it was a sigh, not a disappearance to his emotions, "I have no idea who the Father is and or how powerful he might be. All I know is... having the weight of the world on me... knowing more of the life that inhabits the planet... I feel even more obligated to protect it. But... what if I can't? What if... the whole purpose of this meet up tomorrow is to simply... knock me down? And to prove that I'm... I'm not ready to save the world... ...and I... ...may never be."
The heavy burden resting on his shoulders was felt to plenty more now. They all saw where he was coming from, though for him, it was on a much deeper scale. Being so weak and lost when it came to his emotions, thinking about possible futures and imperfections was easy. Ignitus didn't want his son to feel this heavy burden alone: no one wanted this. To clean thing ups, Ignitus snapped his fingers to repair all the damage done. The walls, blood, broken pieces, and left over metal was cleaned, gone, and dusted. The walls stood strong now, covering the rooms in secrecy. The wounds and horrific nature of what Spyro had done to himself was all but healed as well. He was himself once again. Bright colors, but not real spirit. Malefor being the joy he was wanted a change in scenery, "Hey, Spyro, I have the perfect idea," Carith was afraid of some kind of joke that'd only make things worse; which is why, even for Flair, she took a step forward, "Since Ersa's muting the walls, what do you say we sleep down in these rooms?" Spyro raised his head; Malefor had the momentum, now he just needed to deliver, "Well, think about it. The Guardians and their females are all right near us. We don't have to worry about waking up or missing anything because we're right down here. We can sleep in the room to the middle of Flair's and Terrador's. That way, we'll also have easy access to the back room where Ignitus and Claire are," It was a perfect idea, one to which Carith smiled on to see he was actually showing a true form of understanding, "You'll be able to get some extra rest, we'll all be together sooner, and maybe it'd be beneficial to know I'm right there so the Dark Master won't try anything."
"Speaking of," Cynder had actually forgotten about him, "Is he... ...are we... ...are able to talk to him?"
"For now, I'd say no. He wasn't too happy that I was keeping him awake, so maybe us not interrupting him would be a good thing. Plus, we need all the sleep we can get. Especially you, Spyro."
"Since when did you start showing your pair?" Carith rather liked nice guy Malefor.
"Hehe... I guess I just feel bad. I know you're upset about us not being able to have sex tonight so, I need to compromise."
"SHIT, THAT'S RIGHT! If we're in the room together, we'll have no privacy!" Now tears were sure to form in her eyes, "Why can't this world just let me have fun with my purple dragon..."
"Speaking of sex," Cyril stretched in excitement, "While you all aren't getting any, Flair promised me some head, some I'm gonna go enjoy myself."
"WHAT?!" No one heard any of this.
"I said you had to stab a guy, and you didn't, so it doesn't count," Flair knew that wasn't going to happen.
"Aw, but, come on! If I did stab that guy, you would've dumped me for my aggressive male behavior! Surely I got points for not being so heartless."
"We will talk about this later," Flair blushed for Cyril being right; for now she couldn't show how she truly felt, so she wanted to do something different, "Spyro... about your situation," Standing up to head off to bed, Cyril followed close behind, standing off to her right to allow her view over Spyro, "You really shouldn't worry too heavily. Don't put so much pressure on yourself when it's a two way street. Downing yourself over other people's actions or failures isn't your fault. If things go south, and someone does die, that's on them. You've done enough, and have continued to do so. At some point, someone else will need to step up so you can breathe. If you don't take a break soon, the only 'break' that will happen will be in your mind."
Spyro took all her words to heart, having nothing to say against her; somewhat believing in all that was said. With those two walking off, Ersa was ready to help out, along with her mate, "You all should get some rest. I'll make sure to mute the walls, just not the front door or the back wall. I don't want you all fearing over complete silence, and this should help you too, Spyro. You don't need to worry about not hearing anything at all in case someone's attacking."
Little victories were needed, and Spyro gave a weak smile, "Thank you... Ersa. It's definitely times like these that I'm glad Volteer met you..." She was happy to hear him say, "You wouldn't happen to have something to ease my anxiety for tomorrow, would you? I'm... afraid of what I might do; afraid that... I'll make a mistake that'll cost the lives or sanity of others... ...like when I acted out the death of Kayla's lover..." His mind went to a dark place for what he had done, "She looked at me in fear... begged for me to hear her plea... and I ignored my way of thinking... ...I might not have broken his neck... but in my display... I broke something else... ...her heart... ...her mind..."
"Spyro," Cynder wasn't the only one who wanted a stop to this way of thinking, "You couldn't have known what they were capable of. If anything this proves you are the light that they need. You took a step back, you held your anger down, and with your purple color, they have something to close their eyes and feel comfort towards. Like with me..." Standing directly in front of him now, Cynder rested a paw to his chest, and she looked to this rather than his eyes, "I had plenty of nightmares. Those in the day to when I blinked... ...and those at night... ...to which I was alone. But thanks to your smile, your colors, and your voice... ...I had you watching over me even when we weren't together... ...even when... ...I lost everything."
Raising his paw, Spyro rested it over hers. She moved it slightly, wanting to feel the beats of his heart. Being so used to the way his heart reacts down to the millisecond of his beats, she could tell her voice helped. She could tell that previously, without her voice, his heart was fluttered in a fit of millions of emotions. Her words she didn't believe to be enough. The advancements she had continued, unknowing to her. Her mind spaced out, thinking deeply on her love for Spyro. Black like smoke appeared to her paw, circling around it before entering Spyro's chest. Everyone stood in wonder to what she was doing, but considering she didn't even know, everyone was at a loss. The power that made itself known didn't appear to be shadow, but rather fear. No one was aware to what her abilities were doing, so no one could react to stop what was happening. Using fear, the power showed care, rather than destruction. It circled Spyro's heart, massaging his near every being. Like a virus, it worked its way through his body rather quickly, making way through his arms, legs, and even brain. Being direct on what it was doing instead of dealing with outside pressure, the massage to Spyro felt near heavenly. He couldn't describe the feeling, and even as he tried to think on it, his soul felt the soothing massage the same. What is... happening... to me...? Why does this feel so... ...gooooooood~... Unable to hold such a joyous feeling to himself, a smile crept across his face as he gave his pleased growl, "Grrrrrrrrrr~"
Hearing this growl, it broke Cynder from her consternation, or rather lack thereof. The fear escaped his body in near seconds. As she backed and her paw disconnected from his chest, the fear all came back to her. Spyro was caught off guard by this, feeling now lost without what she was doing. Where she backed out of fear and was sure to look him in the eyes with tears, only a couple of words escaped her lips, "Sorry! Spyro, I... I spaced out, I..."
"I love you..." Her eyes went wide to what he said, "Cynder... I... I have no idea what you just did but... feeling that massage... feeling... a life without fear... ...how... how did you do that?"
She had no idea what she even did, "I... I have no idea. I... I was just looking at your chest and... thought about all the pain you were going through... ...I thought I hurt you."
"Hehe... To be honest, the only thing you did was make me love you more, so," Her heart raced to hear him say, and with the smile he had, it was clear he wasn't lying, "That massage with your abilities... it was like my fear was being erased while being caressed by a mother to her new born hatchling. I now feel... so much better about tomorrow. I still have this lingering feeling of anticipation and not in a good way but... ...Cynder... ...Because of you and what you did, I feel the urge to make out with you now."
"Is that the... only, urge, you feel?" Cynder tried to be nonchalant, but where there was failure, there was also success.
"You're making me rethink my mating decision," Spyro's lips closed in on hers, and with only a breath of space, her heart nearly ran, "Eighteen sounds like a good age, but now I just need to find my mate. What do you say, Cynder? Want to reenact your hopes and dreams on the roof of this building? Something about wanting to be nasty~?"
"Makes me uncomfortable to know you two may very well bang over the roof to which I live," Malefor shivered.
"Me and Volteer bang under the same roof you live under. How is this any different?" Ersa smirked in her question.
"Because at least the mess stays in your room. What if we fly up there one day, and I get stuck?"
"You ever think before you say something?" Terrador's blush was red like a fire dragon, and even for Ignitus, the red showed past his scales.
"I thought the Guardians taught you about the Birds and the Bees. Why are you acting like there's gallons of the stuff?"
"Okay. Time to go bed," Terrador got up quickly, making his way off to bed with Trish hastily following along, knowing full well where this conversation would go from here.
"Then again, on me and Volteer's first night, I questioned how we were able to get to round twelve and he still had plenty to shoot."
"Speaking of shooting, I think I'm going to do that to myself... in the head," Ignitus couldn't handle what was being spoken about either, so just like the other two, he made his way to the backroom; Claire following right behind.
"Hehe, it got to the point where we couldn't figure out what part of the bed was from the color white, or his..."
"WE HAVE STUFF TO DO, ERSA! REMEMBER?!" Volteer blocked her lips, but this was one of the worst things he could've done.
Grabbing a hold of his paw, she slowly moved it down to which sweat showed for. Now that her lips were free, Ersa was able to speak again, "You do realize that doesn't work, right? If you want to shut me up, you'll need to use something much, much bigger to block my mouth~"
"Let's give the two some privacy," Spyro backed away, the same as Cynder, afraid to know where this was going.
"What?! Hell no! Volteer! You better go to your room if two are going to do it! I don't want to know you two did it on this very floor," Malefor wanted the two gone.
"Hell no to you too, Malefor!" Ersa was thirsty, "Come on, Volteer... I want the D... which of course stands for dragon! I want the dragon... ...I want you~"
"Malefor, just let them be. You know how they are," Knowing it was a losing battle either way, Spyro, walking right next to Cynder, made their way slowly but surely to their room.
Malefor growled in disgust to know what the two would do, but he tried not thinking too much on it. He still hadn't moved, so Carith did herself. Her disappearance got him moving, noticing off to the corner of his eye a blue body wiggling her back-end just to get some attention. Another growl let loose from his lips. This was a call he couldn't ignore, so instead, he ignored what the other two were doing and followed along with the other four to the right door outside the Chambers. Once they were sure the four were gone, Ersa had the idea in her mind for what she wanted to do, "Here, our room, or the roof?"
"Living dangerous don't you think? What would stop someone from seeing?" Volteer raised a brow, smirking either way.
"Tough shit. They can be jealous to know of all the fun we're having."
"Well, to help Spyro sleep, we should work on that mute stuff before we continue."
"Tease."
"Hehe. Don't worry, this isn't like the past. I'll keep my promise to you."
"I know you will. I just hope that tomorrow doesn't break what we've build so far."
"Hey," Reassuring her with a paw to her cheek, Volteer kept a smile to help soothe her, "We'll make it through. With our minds and muscle to back us, I feel no fear for tomorrow."
