Sorry for my bad English.
Attention, this will be a long AN.
First, even after I added in the description, there some readers who still can't see that Ceodore and Jaune are the same character. Seriously, what else I must do?
I already decide to spoil part of the story already by giving this information and yet, I had to delete reviews from guests who seems to not even read the description to know about Jaune and Ceodore. Althought I told to some reader who left a review asking about him, and stop to think about it, I could had just said that Jaune was going to be in the story soon.
And why they can just theorize that Jaune will appear in future chapters instead of think that I will ship Ruby with an OC?
A new male character appear and get along with her so it means I will ship them?
They can't just be friends?
I consider myself a very patient guy, but when someone reads the first chapter and don't take five seconds to read the description, I'm sure they are testing my nerves!
Something similar happened with my story The Dynamic Duo, with some readers thinking I was going to ship Jaune with an OC just because in this story he got a different partner while in the description, it is clear that until the date of this chapter I'm not shipping him with anyone. Someone even said I killed the story before even began because is not an Arkos story.
The things those people think...
Second, I finished the last volume a week ago. Rip off my skin and call me a zombie, it was a good volume.
The serious tone took over the volume give the situation, something I'm not against and even with that, we can always count on Jaune to give us some laugh. I think everyone saw coming what Emerald did near the end of the volume after her expression during the invasion of the volume 3.
What happened to Ironwood was easy to understand, given the heroes' actions and making him think that he can't trust in anyone but himself and those under his command. And if those disobey... BANG! Sometimes when this happens to one character it is sudden, with him we could see why he was taking such drastic actions even at the cost of innocents. We can see the change from the beginning to the end on the Volume 7, from being glad to see Qrow to putting him under arrest.
The volume's final fight was also pretty good, and I was surprised for the field choose for the battle.
But I feel that all just happened because Penny inhereted the maiden's powers, and I sometimes wonder what would happened if Winter had become the maiden from the beginning.
There also the problem that Ruby is barely using her silver eyes, even while facing grimms or even Cinder. I mean, she used on the end of volume 7, forcing Cinder to retreat so why did she not used again during the final fight?
And to be honest, the deaths of Watts and Hazel were not that good in my book.
But I enjoyed seeing the volume and I probably will watch again soon. Not on Roosterteeth, four adds sure takes my nerves.
Well, I'm done now.
To the fic!
Every time Miles turn on the TV, he did not know why he did for the beginning.
Especially with those who made their own commercials. Think about his surprise when a man poorly dressed as Miles popped in a commercial about self-defense classes.
-I will destroy all Remnant! -The fake Miles dramatically said.
-Oh no! -Dozens of fake huntsmen cried on the feet of fake Miles. -Who gonna save us?!
-Stay away villain! -A man with tanned skin and ridiculous big hair stepped into the scene. -Prepare to meet your maker!
-Oh no! -Fake Miles dramatically shouts. -It is the Turtle Master! Master of the Turtle Karate! My only weakness!
The Turtle Master let out a pinched scream while giving a flying kick on fake Miles, taking him down and making every fake huntsmen get up to praise him.
-You also can defeat any opponent signing for classes in the Turtle School of Karate! No credit card accepted, only cash!
Miles stared at the screen with an empty expression, then he took the remote.
-It is the time of those clowns beat each other gain? -He asked and turned the channel.
Another day, another adventure, except if you are Ceodore.
One of the things he regrets going to the academy is that when anything related to miasma happens, he is the first one in anyone's list to ask or talk about what to do. While Ceodore himself is not a specialist in miasma, he could be the one who has more knowledge than anyone about the evil energy in the whole Vale.
That's why when the professors and both teams returned to the academy, he was immediately sent to one of Atlas secret transports in order to help solve a problem related to miasma, but this time he has special guests.
For some reason, Weiss and Goodwitch were accompanying him to this secret transport where the Atlas military used to treat those who were infected with miasma.
This surprised the apprentice.
He knew that the four kingdoms, especially Atlas were very secretive in how they were dealing with miasma. But a flying transport created in secret to try help those infected? And what business Weiss and Goodwitch have in this place?
He would soon discover as he looks through the window of the small Bullhead the called secret airship. They already were pretty away from Vale, seeing nothing more than forests and mountains in his vision field.
-C-Ceodore... -The whispering of Weiss took his attention away from the window to the heiress. She seemed worried, eyes focusing on the floor, hands rubbing nervously, and her voice barely audible. -Do you... do you already meet someone who survived being infected with miasma?
-Uuuhhh... -For some reason, he found it hard to answer. -I mean... there is my master and you know...
-No, Ceodore. -Weiss interrupted. -Not people like you and your master, I mean those who were infected by accident.
-Well, my master was infected by accident.
-He was? -Weiss asked with wide eyes.
-He told me that during his time as a knight in Arcadia, he was looking around for some invaders when he found a strange tree.
-How strange?
-The bark was all dark while the leaves were all purple. When he approached it, it burst open, wetting him with water that smelled strange.
-This is how he was infected? -Weiss asked.
-From what he told me, yes.
-Oh, I see. Anyone else?
-I don't know anyone else. Why?
Weiss did not answer immediately. Her focus was back on the ground before answer the apprentice.
-When... we reach our destination, you will discover.
Ceodore did not know what was bothering Weiss since he was not present during the announcement of her sister, so he could only wait to see. He did not notice the blonde teacher listening to their conversation even being far from them.
And none of the three knew about the listening device hidden in their room.
Their destination was something Ceodore saw in those superhero movies.
The flying facility was like a fortress, big enough to park dozen of Bullheads and some other flying vehicles. From his spot he could even see some Paladins walking around like they were in guard dutch or something.
The small Bullhead landed and the door opened, and Glynda walked off followed by Weiss and then Ceodore. Already waiting for them was a man in a lab coat, surrounded by armed soldiers.
-Greetings. -The man began. -My name is Vento Branco, and I am the led doctor of this facility. -He then eyes the guests. -Glynda Goodwitch, I assume?
-You presumed correctly. -Glynda said. -I do hope my presence is not bothering anyone.
-No worries. We know how hard is for to people come and visit. -The visit part made Ceodore raise an eyebrow. Glynda has come to visit someone? -Ms. Schnee. -Branco called the heiress. -Two of those soldiers will escort you to where your sister is currently going through exams.
-Thank you, sir. -Was all Weiss said before accompanying two soldiers.
And it was there that Ceodore discovers the meaning behind her questions. Before he could ponder any further, he notices the white lenses of Branco's glasses staring at him.
-The apprentice of the Dark Knight, here in my facility. -Branco said in a low tone.
-Before you ask... -Ceodore began. -... I don't think I can be of any help with the researches you guys are doing here.
-I thought so. -Branco said. -So, there is any reason for your to visit?
-Even telling her the same I told you, she invited me to accompany her my friend.
-Oh, I see. -Branco said and turns to Glynda. -Let's not make him wait, right?
And with that, he left.
-Come with me, please. -Glynda said to Ceodore before he could ask who she was visiting.
Not being able to make a question and only waiting for answers, while forced to follow someone, he was feeling like was being pushed around.
-My master told me this would happen. -Ceodore complained before following Glynda.
With so many soldiers around him, he felt like a prisoner being escorted to a cell made personally for him.
There were looking at him like his head was about to burst and some monster would jump out to eat their heads. He thought that working in a facility where doctors tend people infected with miasma, they would be more used to his presence.
Of course, he was not like the people from this place.
While following Glynda, he went through a corridor with windows on both sides, showing people not only in beds but also inside those pods from scientific fiction movies.
Some of those people had their veins like they injected their blood with purple paint while others had their skin completely covered in a dark purple color.
Ceodore knew about the effects of an infection, but it is the first time he saw it personally, and he did not know what to think.
It was like he was inside a horror movie.
He sighed.
-I need to lay off a little with those late-night movies. -He said to himself.
Entering an elevator, they went to a different floor. No windows this time, only the doors. And it seemed like a death roll, with only the last door in the corridor having a light on while flickering.
Glynda walked first followed by Ceodore, the apprentice then notices that the soldiers had stopped following them.
He was a little afraid to discover.
He and Glynda stood in front of the door for a moment, before a red light above the door turned green and it opened for them.
Inside was like a normal hotel room, with a bed, a table, a TV, a small kitchen, and a bathroom right on the corner, nothing too fancy. But what really caught his attention was the man sitting in the bed. His face slowly turns up, allowing them to see his white eyes and silver beard. Ceodore also notices the purple veins on his arm, stopping before his neck.
For a moment he just looks at the guests before he stands.
This man Ceodore could only describe as a titan. If he was in his dorm room, his silver hair would be brushing the ceiling.
He approached them, and what came next would surprise even Ceodore's master. His white eyes were empty for a moment before they widened, and a goofy grin spread over his face.
-Pixie! -He shouts opening his huge arms and wrapping Glynda with them.
The man pulled Glynda up and with her still in his arms, danced around like a happy plebeian, leaping from left to right on the room like a little girl playing with a stuffed grimm. But Ceodore was even more surprised to see Glynda's face blushing, clear from embarrassment.
-Dad, please. I'm with one of my students.
-Dad? -Ceodore asked in surprise.
-Oh right! Of course, of course. -The man said, putting Glynda down and focusing on Ceodore. -I never thought to one day meet one of your students. What about you introduce us? -He said with a smile that makes him seem like the happiest man in the Remnant.
Glynda seemed hesitant at first before introducing the apprentice.
-Dad, this is Ceodore. -The man's eyes widened hearing the name as Glynda turned to the apprentice. -Ceodore, I would like to introduce you to my father.
The huge man reached with his hand.
-Laguna Lumière. And before you ask, she still is with her mother's surname.
-N-nice to meet you. -Ceodore said accepting the hand.
If Ceodore didn't know better, he would theorize that he was trying to hurt him, because the handshake was the strongest he ever had.
-Oh sorry. Sorry. I keep forgetting about my own strength.
-Winter! -Weiss called for her sister.
The older sister currently was inside a chamber filled with water, the soldier who accompanied her in her mission inside their own chambers.
-Weiss? -Winter asked, surprised in seeing her little sister. -What are you doing here?
-I hear about what happened! -Weiss answered. -Are you okay? Are you feeling good? Is something wrong?
-Weiss, calm down. First of all, how did you discovered what happened?
-Discover? -Weiss asked. -You did not send a soldier to report about what happened?
-No, I didn't wait a minute. Woody! -Winter shouts.
-Uuuhh... hey doctor! -A soldier not far from where the sisters were called. -This chamber can flush me?
Weiss raised an eyebrow while Winter sighed.
-He probably thought your family would like to know about your current state. -Weiss theorized.
-He had no need to do that on my back! -Winter shouts. -Once I got out of here...
-Serious, doctor! -Woody spoke. -You can send me in a free fall! It would be fine by me!
-Winter, how did this happened?
Winter looks at her sister and sighs again before beginning about what was discovered.
Beacon
Without Glynda around until late at night, Ozpin would have to work a bit harder, but found some free time to have a small talk with the unexpected guest.
-Would you like some tea, Ms... -He said, waiting for the girl to introduce herself.
-Slyph. -The green-haired girl said.
End of the chapter.
I made this chapter to get some activity in this fiction. I'm aware that I took too much time to upload but is because there is a lot happening and I think I don't need to explain what it is, right?
I also caught 'it' some weeks ago and was isolated in my own room with a body that would only move if the house was on fire. After four days, I show some recovery, but still lacked any will to do anything. What happened next I will not say because will take too much time to explain, just know that I got a full recovery and I will try upload more frequently despite everything that is happening.
Side note, if you want to pictures the chambers, just think about the tanks from Dragon Ball Z.
That's all folks, see you next time!
