Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 46: The Sports Festival part. 18- The Battle Tournament.
After the grand fiasco with the cheerleading team of 1-A, B, Gar, and three forced boys; it was finally time for the Battle Tournament to be under way! And the excitement could be felt in the air all around the young aspiring heroes as the remaining few walked into the field and saw the crowds cheer for them in euphoric zeal! Midnight took center stage on top of the podium and gave the whole blabbity blab rundown of what's to happen. To which was easy enough to understand.
However, as she was doing this a hand raised from the crowd and asked to reside from the spot. This person being Ojiro who for some reason didn't remember getting to this spot and did feel right about taking it so easily! He was even joined by another student, which left two spots open for the tournament.
Midnight agrees after asking if they were sure, and had Rotom tally up the points for the two people who could've made it. This was, surprisingly enough, two kids from class 1-B! None other than Ibara and, aggravatingly enough, Monoma. After that was settled Midnight turned to Rotom once more and had him randomize the face off.
The first just so happens to be Izuku and Shinso! A five minute prep time is given and all others are dismissed back to the bleachers. As this went down, Gar watched from the sidelines and made a self note to see if Shinso actually did apologize to those he tricked into being on his team during the Chariot Race.
Once all the teens left and Izuku went into a separate waiting room to think and panic as he had no idea what quirk Shinso had! Then he was joined by Ojiro who told him the rundown of what he experienced. Telling him it was some form of mind control that only occurred while responding to any question that Shinso himself asks. With this info at his side, Izuku felt much more reassured in his upcoming battle….. at least somewhat better.
Gar eventually found the room that Shinso was waiting in, with new small help from Salazzle and her hyper sense of smell, he immediately asked the startled teen if he had made his apologies, and when he hesitates with a long winded uh. Gar then bonks him on the head and scolds him for waiting. Afterwards he tells Shinso if he doesn't apologize after this battle, then he'll reevaluate his decision on letting him see Salazzle and Malamar often, and another 'special' pokemon he wanted him to meet.
Intrigued and disappointed at the prospect of not seeing the few creatures in the world that he had something in common with, he agreed and promised to make his apology rounds. Satisfied, Gar proceeded to leave. Just before he did, Shinso asked him if he had any pointers on Izuku and his quirk.
Gar simply turned around, hanging in the door frame, and said with a smile, "Don't get caught in the range of his attacks…..which is actually the whole dang ring. Good Luck!"
The first battle finally went underway with both teens entering the ring and being introduced by Present Mic on both sides. Both came to the center ring and shook hands with Izuku's determined and slightly stressed expression and Shinso's uncaring and slightly peeved expression. They both went on opposite sides and waited for Midnight to give them the start. When she did, Shinso tried to strike up a conversation with Izuku. Izuku was almost inclined to politely reply but stopped himself short, slapping his hands over his mouth, knowing what would happen!
Shinso, changing pace, started to approach Izuku while still questioning him. Izuku still stayed silent and steered back while taking a defensive stance. The crowd was heavily underwhelmed by the first fight and muttered to one another about if there was supposed to be any fighting at all. But to the few people who knew about Shinso's quirk, the tension was real as they watched the green teen do his best not to utter a peep back to the talkative purple teen! At this point Gar was unsure of who to cheer for, and simply stood back in his seat, completely tense, and bit his fingernails anxiously to see who would do what first.
Then Shinso finally said something that made Izuku reply, and the green teens eyes went blank. Shinso smiled and told Izuku to walk out of the ring, to which he obeyed. Though unknown to him, Izuku was still conscious as his body moved unwillingly! He felt like a puppet on strings as his body moved without any feeling in it, he just felt helpless. He wanted to break through and win, but no matter how hard he struggled his body wouldn't listen to him! And on top of that he was only a few feet from the edge of the ring!
Then something even the spectators didn't expect to happen, happened! Something that happened within Izuku's inner mind that not even he could explain! Then Izuku's quirk suddenly activated in his finger and exploded a force of air pressure that sweeped all around the arena! The pain of his broken finger and air pressure snapped him out of his trance and he stopped just inches before walking completely out! Izuku took several steps back and breathed out a sigh of relief.
He turned back to his opponent, who had his arms up in defense of the air blast with a flabbergasted expression on his face! No one had ever broken out of his quirk before and he didn't know how to react! Shinso flinched as he watched Izuku turn towards him and prepare to sacrifice another finger with the same move to push him out of bounds!
Then Shinso did something that even shocked himself, he angrily and angsty poured out his heart and feelings in front of Izuku! He shouted his frustration about his life and everything it took to get here! He shouted his anger at the unfairness of everything that he and do many others has to go through just to be put in the leftover bin! He stressed about his jealousy towards people like Izuku who had been blessed with such quirks and how easily he could use it to give himself an easy victory and snuff out any chance he would have it getting recognized!
Izuku saw something in the purple teens eyes that he recognized all too well. He saw frustration, sadness, anger, and agony. Not having control over anything he could help, and being hated or misjudged for it. He knew this cause at one point he was just like him. He saw himself in Shinso, and it sent shock waves into his soul.
Izuku let his hand drop and turned off his quirk while looking away from the frustrated teen. And his teary expression. Shinso saw this and felt perplexed by it. Was he planning something? Luling him into a false sense of security? What ace did he have? And why was he using it on him? Then he saw the green haired teen approach him on slow footsteps.
Shinso couldn't or didn't move, as his feet stood firmly planted in his spot. He drew up his arms in defense of what could happen next. He so desperately wanted to put him under his control, but he couldn't make a single word come out, and even if he did, Izuku wasn't looking too chatty by how tightly he was clenching his jaw.
Izuku was only a few feet from Shinso, who looked terrified about potentially being knocked out of the ring in one blow that wouldn't even touch him. Then Izuku raised his own arms in a defensive stance, much to Shinso's surprise! He told Shinso he knew what it was like to be him not too long ago, and that if he wanted to be recognized then he would have to show his resolve here and now! No quirks! Only fists!
Shinso dropped his own arms at this statement and also slowly dropped his head until a shadow covered it. Izuku wondered what he was doing until a small chuckle and smile curved on his lips. Shinso whipped up his head, going into an attack stance, and accepted with a vicious smile! He then ran forward with a fist raised back and proceeded to go into full fisticuffs with Izuku! The whole fight only lasted about 4 minutes, but it was an unusual sight to see to powerful quirk users only using their fists!
Although Shinso was rough and forceful in his attacks, they lacked any finesse or sense of proper training. Unlike Izuku who was not only stronger physically, but was also taught how to throw a proper punch in the face of a head on battle. The only thing Shinso managed to do was get knocked in the face and chest several times and pushed Izuku to the edge of the ring. The crowd watched and cheered in anticipation of the purple teens victory!
Even Shinso looked like he knew he had this, as his smile and posture grew more confident, even his attacks became more and more forceful and erratic! Forcing Izuku to go full defensive! He finally got Izuku to the edge and tried to end it with one last punch! But Izuku anticipated and planned for this; as he side stepped while grabbing his arm, and then throwing him over his shoulder in one swing! Shinso finally hit the ground on the other side of the ring with an unmajestic FLOP! Thus securing victory for the green teen, announced loudly by both Present Mic and Midnight!
The crowd roared with astounding cheers for the green haired teens first victory. Shinso pulled himself up from the dirt and rubbed the back of his head, a feeling of self disappointment and anxiety rushed over him as any feeling of excitement for the prospect of winning faded like all other positive feelings in his life. But then he saw a hand raised out to him from none other than the opponent that could have easily secured himself an easy victory. Dirt, scuff marks, bruises, and one broken finger adorned him as he offered his hand while thanking him for the fight.
Shinso closed his eyes while putting on a rare and soft smile. He opened his eyes and took the smaller teens hand who easily helped him back to his feet. After this, both boys left to get patched up by Recovery Girl and her Medical Pokemon Team. Unknown to any of them, Bakugou had watched the whole thing after finally calming himself down from his episode.
He watched in full detail of the final moments when Izuku held out his hand to Shinso, who accepted it. He played the whole scene in his head out, over and over again, like some kind of movie. Especially since it overlapped with another memory from a part of his mind he finally got rid of. It all felt so wrong to him. He didn't want the purple haired guy to accept the hand of pity. He wanted him to slap it away in disgust! He expected it to happen, but it didn't, and the whole thing churned a soul feeling in his gut that prepared to escape! But Bakugou was strong, or stubborn, and held it down as he walked away with the memory still playing and mixing with his emotion in a sickening feeling.
The next round of battles went pretty easily and uneventful at the time….at least in Gar's eyes. Kaminair was beaten in a rather flashy and anticlimactic way from Ibara, after short circuiting himself from trying to take the girl out quickly. Tokoygami beat Monoma after the ladder couldn't control or counter his quirk. Todoroki beat Sero in a completely unneeded overkill move that not only secured him an easy victory, but also nearly froze half the stadium, along with Midnight, and nearly impaled the other half with an ice attack so large it looked like someone dropped an Iceberg into the stadium. Luckily the clean up was just as fast from Todoroki. Ibara was beat by Iida, who simply outpaced the girl and pushed her out of bounds. Tokoygami beat Momo by overwhelming her to the point she backed straight out of bounds.
Then Iida went up against Mei, the former of which was wearing something made by the ladder. Midnight tried to disway it since it violated the rules, but after seeing Iida's youthful vigor she got 'turned on' and accepted it. Gar and Rotom shared the same disgusted expression at the woman's words, and Gar was almost tempted to tell Rotom to pull up a pic of Midnight with a sign that said "Registered Sexoffender". After that the battle commenced with Mei hacking the mic system, much to both Rotom and Porygon2 extreme displeasure, and began to meticulously introduce and show off her invention before the crowds. More specifically the investors sitting in the booths, who she watched back with baited anticipation and excitement! She then proceeds to forfeit by walking out after her show was complete, practically handing over victory to Iida. Who was not happy about being used for product investment placement.
And then came Kirishima and Tetsutetsu. Gar couldn't help but laugh before the fight even started, remarking how it looked like a pokemon and their shiny version were facing off. Even Rotom and Porygon2 couldn't help but laugh, even pulling a small joke of switching their names around to the wrong picture on the jumbotron. And in all seriousness it really did look just like that. The both of them were so impeccably similar in both appearance, personality, quirks, and so forth you'd think they were separated at birth. If not for the different colors.
The battle went just about how you would expect such a fight to go. Both were so equally matched in just about everything that they both ended up K. each other! Leading to U.A's very first double K.O! The crowd was in awe and shock, while everyone who knew the two simply shrugged and sweat dropped at the spectacle. Except for Gar, who was laughing his butt off so hard he fell out of his seat! It was then decided that the victory would be decided through a test of strength through another arm wrestling match.
Gar voiced his complaint about having his far more original and fun idea used as a deciding factor! Midnight shot back asking if he had any other ideas and Gar stayed silent for a good while, not having thought that far ahead.
Then replied meekly, "Uh, Rock Paper Scissors?"
Midnight then went along with the original idea, leaving a very irritated and dejected Gar to simmer in the booths. The arm Wrestling Match then went how you would think; intense with a lot of grunting and shouting! It then finally ended after Kirishima managed to somehow overpower Tetsutetsu by sheer will power! And he had quite a lot since he broke the concrete pillar they were using. The crowd cheered and Tetsutetsu gingerly held his arm while hanging his head in defeat. He then saw Kirishima hold out his hand with a 'manly' expression on his face while thanking him for a great match. Tetsutetsu adorned himself with the same expression and accepted his hands while thanking him back.
Midnight squealed like a schoolgirl at the sight with visible hearts wafting off her, while Cementoos stood to her side with a stone stiff expression. Even Gar got on the action: his eyes lit up, his mouth dropped open into a huge smile, and he leaped onto the guard rail of the booth and proclaimed loudly enough for everyone in the two adjacent booths next to him to hear.
"I ship it! I ship it everyone! I Ship it HARD!", he proclaimed while waving his hands around, as if trying to gain more attention!
Suddenly Mina, who was sitting on the far opposite end of him, manifested right below him with equally sparkly eyes and asked him, "Y-Your a Fudanshi?!"
Gar gave a side smile, then looked at her with one eye as he held up a peace sign, and replied, "Veteran."
Mina's eyes grew even wider along with her smile and an excited squealing noise that dared to escape from her lips! She then jumped onto Gar, wrapping her arms around his neck and saying happily, "I never thought I could platonically love you even more!"
Although Mina was more than ecstatic to find a fellow fujoshi, Gar wasn't so happy since all her hanging off and swinging around him made it hard to keep his balance on the slickly painted guard rail. It became downright impossible when Tour suddenly joined in, professing her excitement about finding another member! Hooking her arms around his neck and swinging around him like a Mankey! Gar tried to tell the girl's to get off him before celebrating, since he was about to fall!
And fall they all did...for about one second. Until three strong grey arms grabbed each one of them and hauled them back over to the bleachers. They all looked back and saw Machamp looking down on all of them with an exasperated expression, possibly for doing something so obviously foolish and dangerous. After a collective sigh from all three teens, they thanked the strong pokemon. The Pokémon did not look satisfied with their thanks, almost asking with her irritated expression as to why they did what they did. Gar then directed Machamp's hard ire out towards the field and the Pokémon immediately dropped all three teens at the sight of the two look-alikes. Her eyes widened and glittered with wonder while holding up all four of her hands to the bottom of her chin, looking out with a dreamy look.
At that moment the piece clicked together for the two girls wondering what was wrong with the Pokémon, and became excited as they asked, "Machamp too!?"
Gar nods enthusiastically as he replies, "Yep! She grew up and evolved with it….and but it I mean me."
While the four of them giggled and squealed together at finding their new click, some others were not so happy about it. More specifically Rotom, who was dreading every passing moment of their exchange!
"Dear sweet Arceus, their multiplying. Buzzt.", He groaned on the screen below the 1-A booth.
As the new Fudanshi gang continued to giggled and whispered amongst one another about the two teens, who had heard all the commotion and we're now staring weirdly at them, the other teens in 1-A were all trying to block them out or look away embarrassed by the goings on. It was especially a parent in the girls; with reactions ranging from Momo's slight blush with fingers over her mouth and stating how vulgar it was, to Jiro who was trying her best to look inconspicuous but the bright red flush across her whole face said otherwise.
Eventually Jiro had enough of it and loudly complained, "Oh for the love of-will you four just shut it already! You're making all of us embarrassed!"
Momo nodded and added her two cents saying, "She's right. We understand you four have a….professed interest in this, but the rest of us don't."
Gar, the two girls, and the Pokémon all looked between one another before then gained mischievous grins on all their faces. they turned their heads back to the two girls who flinched at their collective expressions.
"Ooooooooooooooooooor maybe you two just don't wanna accept this professed interest.", Gar drawled out while approaching them.
Both girls looked cautiously at one another before looking at the other four. "W-What do you mean?", Momo asked nervously.
Mina narrows her eyes evilly, smiling a wide lipped smile, as she approached her like a Pyroar that had a Zebstrika cornered, as she said sweetly, "Oh come on Momo-chan. We can see they way you and Jiro-chan look and react to this. Especially after we brought attention to it."
"Yeah, doesn't it fill you with a feeling you can't explain? At first it feels sickening, but the more it sits the better it feels until it releases a sense of euphoria in your body.", Tour joined as she too joins in on the predatorial approach.
"D-Dont be ridiculous! We-We would never b-be into that w-weird stuff! E-Ever!", Jiro tries to dismiss their accusations, keeping her eyes on the two girls still approaching on the verge of pouncing.
"Are you suuuuuuuuuure?", Gar asked as he suddenly appeared from behind the two girls, causing them to freak out and jump away from him!
"Cut it out already! We're already denying your ridiculous claim!", Momo tried to shoo them away, only to find that they'd been surrounded by all three of them with Machamp in the back.
"Don't fight it girls. Accept it! Join us!", Gar says in a cultic chanting voice.
"Join us, girls!", all three of them say in unison.
"GAH!", the two of them shreek in fright! Jumping over the seats and over the three teens trying to box them off!
They both managed to jump the seats far enough to make it to the walking medium, where Jiro world around and says with an embarrassed expression and accusational finger, "YOU CAN'T CATCH US YOU GAY THOTS!"
Rotom's eyes widen at her words and he says in an alarming voice, "Buzzt. Don't say that or they'll take it as-!"
But he wasn't able to finish quick enough as all three of their eyes darkened by a mysterious aura, their eyes twinkled a red color as they said in unison, "Yes we can."
"Challenge….you two should probably run. Buzzt.", Rotom trailed off knowing he failed and it was too late.
The girls took the hint and booked it into the arena as fast as tier legs could carry them, with all three teens and pokemon hot on their tails!
"You can run.", Mina said.
"But you can't hide.", Tour added.
"We're everywhere!", Gar finished.
"Machamp.", Machamp put her two cents.
The three teens then went after the two girls making weird fake spooky noises as they chased them into the coliseum, chanting about becoming 'one of them'. Leaving the rest of the students extremely confused and scared, but also near a strange point of laughter, and Rotom, who looked both spooked and disquested.
"That was kinda terrifying...and funny.", Kaminair finally broke the ice after several seconds of hard silence.
"Buzzt. Funny? Funny! There's nothing funny about that! Buzzt.", Rotom snapped at him, causing the teen to produce electricity in fright!
"What's the big problem Rotom? Sure it's kinda uncomfortable watching them go on about gay shit, and the fact they'll probably ship some of the boys.", Uraraka began to tell him.
"What?", Iida said next to her.
"But it can't be that bad.", Uraraka tried to settle the now increasing tension of the class.
"Yes it can! Buzzt. Do you know what this means, for me!?", Rotom stressed to them, causing the teens to shake their heads nervously. "Fanfiction. Fanfiction! Buzzt. I already have enough on my hard drive from Gar alone! I don't need more from those two giving him ideas! Buzzt. Arceus, have mercy on my soul and Motherboard! Buzzt.", Rotom begged as fake tears appeared on his screen. At his specific explanation of his dilemma, the rest of the students all slumped into their seats with relief, breaking any tension that was held over them before.
"HEY! Buzzt. Don't sigh in relief only because it's adversely affecting me! Buzzt. I'm the most amazing and important person here! You should all be wretched with anxiety for me!", Rotom cried miserably, only to fall on tuned out ears.
The next fight was one that Gar was far more interested in; Uraraka and Bakugou. He was really raring for this fight and so was pretty much everyone else! But then again they were all excited for any fight that happened. Present Mic did his whole spiel of overly animatedly introducing each one of the combatants, they both went to the center, shook hands on Midnight's mark and then went to opposite corners.
Though as this was happening, Gar noticed something very intriguing that happened in between these events. Uraraka: well she was the same as always, spry, upbeat, and determined to win in her eyes. Bakugou on the other hand seemed…..different. His posture wasn't held up high, his eyes were slightly cast to the ground, and he didn't hold that same angry expression on his face. He almost looked…..lost or even sick. Like he was only a few moments from projectile vomiting. And when the two of them walk to the center to shake hands Gar noticed that Bakugou didn't click his tongue in annoyance and he hesitated, but only for a moment.
Gar put two and two together and realized that his conversation with the ash blonde really spooked him. He wondered how this would affect the ongoing fight. Would Uraraka win with ease? Would Bakugou forfeit? Would things get even more explosive and erratic than usual? He had no idea, and that's what scared him the most. He only hoped that whatever did happen didn't happen as badly as he was anticipating.
Midnight set the two teens off and Uraraka was the first one making a move! She dashed forward as quickly as her legs could carry her knowing that she could win this easily if she could touch him just once. Bakugou, on the other hand, hadn't moved an inch from where he took his place. He was just standing there….menacingly. But Gar could feel something was wrong, very very wrong. Either Bakugou was waiting for something or he was actually forfeiting or he was about to burst.
Unfortunately the last thing was true. Once Uraraka had gotten within a few yards of the blonde explosive teen, Bakugou whipped his head up with a feral expression and immediately let off an extremely powerful explosion which practically hit the girl point blank!
There was a mixture of cheers and gasps from the crowds, especially from Gar who looked like he witnessed a Magnemite getting hit by a heat wave from a Volcarona! However relief washed over most of the crowd and Gar a moment after as Uraraka emerged from the smoke. Singed and already out of breath but still very much alive.
She spit to the side and immediately went in for another rush attack! Though like the last time, Bakugou sent off another powerful explosion once she was close enough with the same results. Uraraka was flung back this time, but still managed to get right back to her feet and try again and again and again. And Bakugou only kept hitting her with increasingly powerful explosions again and again and again. The explosion not only became more powerful, but wider and taller.
Gar was starting to get real nervous, and to shake it off he decided to try his hand at cheering and do some sappy and lame chants.
He claps his hands and yells, "Come one Ochako! You can do it! Just get close enough for his explosion to lose their range! He cant move them while letting off an attack!"
Seeing that not work to help himself or Uraraka, he grabs two pom poms from nowhere and chants, "2-4-6-8, who's the greatest in all of space?! Ochako Ochako Ochako!"
When that didn't work for himself, but got a smile from her in his direction, only to watch her take another face full of explosions, he shouted out, "Come on Ochako you can do it! You can beat him easily! He's just a pussy Meowth! Mach Punch him, BITE Him, RIP HIS HEAD OFF!"
"GAR!", Iida yelled at Gar in surprise, luckily snapping him out of his anger induced trance.
"Dude what the hell?", Kaminair looked at him disapprovingly.
"Totally unmanly bro. Have some dignity.", Kirishima shook his head.
"And self control. You sound like Bakugou.", Shoji put on his two cents.
Gar sweat dropped while blushing, and sinking back into his seat while scratching the back of his head he said, "Ah heh heh, sorry about that you guys….kinda got a little too into it there."
"Wait, is this why you're prohibited in every region from publicly viewing a Pokémon battle as opposed to participating in one?", Izuku asks him.
Gar looks over to the left and scratches his cheek while confirming his suspicions. "Yep, that's the reason. I always get too... Unfezant for lack of better terms.", He ground his teeth while looking to the opposite side: luckily this seemed to distract himself from his own nerves about the ongoing battle.
Meanwhile, Bakugou was putting out explosions of magnitudes that even started to worry Izuku, even after Uraraka went on the defensive. Not only that, Bakugou wasn't his usual chatty and self indulgent self. He was far more primal in both attacks, posture, and appearance. Only letting out a roar or two with every explosion he caused.
This roughness was shouted out by one of the many heroes in the stands, saying how he should stop teasing her and knock her out instead of this cat and mouse game. Very quickly, many other heroes onlookers also mixed in with the astounding boos and jostling thrown towards Bakugou's behavior.
This was quickly and swiftly caught and staunched by Eraserhead; who basically told them to shut up, threw shade at the hero who started the mock mob, and defended both students still in the fight. Porygon2 even got in on it and zoomed one of the cameras at the hero who started it. He looked dazed and embarrassed by the sudden attention and backlash of whispers, looking around as if trying to find an answer to save his ass and career.
Then his eyes fell back on the field and pointed his finger, he demanded, "If what you say is so true, then explain that!"
Everyone, even the cameras controlled by the Pokémon, all panned back to the center ring and saw something that made Eraserhead not only look like a complete buffoon, but made any words catch in his throat. Bakugou was blasting himself all around the ring while letting off a huge explosion when he stopped. He wasn't doing this to get a new position on Uraraka's constant rushing attack, no, he was trying to keep the girl on the ring.
Everytime Uraraka seemed to almost fall out of bounds, Bakugou would reposition himself and blast her away from the boundary line. Keeping her inside, caging her, toying with her like an Orca that caught a seal. And Bakugou was only roaring in any sort of response.
His attacks were so unhinged and powerful that they caused the ground to break apart like wet sand clumps. Even Midnight couldn't intervene in this display of aggression due to the sheer force of the explosions, the smoke produced, and on top of that she had been knocked off of her pedestal.
Eventually Bakugou lost steam and finally stopped in the center of the ring; breathing heavily with his arms shaking a sighn from overuse of his quirk, heavily sweating, and looking so spent that he could collapse at any moment! When the smoke cleared, everyone leaned forward in anxiety-filled anticipation of Uraraka's well- being.
The smoke density drops, and a large boulder from the ground is erected up, and from behind it comes a very disheveled, scorched, and battered brunette with rosy cheeks. The crowd cheers as Uraraka wipes blood from her nose and Bakugou goes red in the face! She walks out from her shield, slowly approaching the blond on wobbly legs, and says very plainly to him.
"I don't know what's gotten into Bakugou-kun, but that was too much, even for you. But in a way I have to thank you for it. You didn't hold back anything against me. So now I can go all out in this last move and take you down!"
Bakugou is confused by her words, until he notices multiple shadows around the ring. He looks up and is shocked to see huge chunks of the concert ring all floating above him! He falters for a moment at the sight and fezzes up in his spot, which is what Uraraka wanted him to do.
She brings up her shaky hands together and just before touching her finger tips together she says, "I saved up all this just for you. I'll definitely collapse after releasing this, but I'll be victorious nonetheless. Thanks for playing into it, Bakugou-kun.", She touched her tips together and said "release" in a weak small tone, making all the stones regain their gravity and fall back to the earth, right above Bakugou.
Bakugou felt like jello now or at least his arms did. He wanted to counter attack this move and he knew he could, but couldn't bring his arms up from his over exertion. He struggled just to stand right now and lifting his arms seemed like an impossible task! He strained himself, grunted, and growled as he tried to make his body move! Then with one last bit of will power he whipped his arms up and sent out one last explosion with a roar that far exceeded all the others!
The boulders were torn to pebbles, the kick back was enough to nearly break his arms and cracked the ground under him, the smoke and dust spread like a large silk cloth, and the sheer force of the explosions was enough to send shock waves across the whole stadium, knock Midnight off her stand, and sent Uraraka flying!
The ladder of which figured her opponent might be able to counter her magnum opus. So she took a chance with what little will power and consciousness she could keep in herself and stomach. So she ran forward in an attempt to punch him out or take away his gravity. She was really looking to do the first thing, but once she was in range for a strike the boy pulled a fast one.
He was so focused on the stones above that he didn't even notice her! Then she saw him whip both arms up and send off an explosive that she hadn't felt before! It knocked her nearly to the edge of the ring where she landed on her stomach. She looked up at the stagger teen who was still standing in her blurry vision. She tried to raise a hand in defiance of her body but her vision only went black and she fell into the ground unconscious.
Thus giving Bakugou the win despite his roughness. Uraraka was taken away on a stretcher while Bakugou walked slowly out of the arena with legs shaking so much you could blow on him and he'd fall over. He was so spent he didn't have the strength to tell the robots who wanted to take him on a stretcher to Recovery girl.
After the ring was cleared and Cementoss was called to fix the damages, Gar sank in his seat with a loud sigh of relief, alongside everyone else in 1-A. Even though Uraraka had held her ground against Bakugou's assault and was still very alive, things could have gone very very wrong! And Gar knew this; in fact he felt personally responsible for the whole thing in general!
He knew that Bakugou was acting this way out of stress and desperation from when he confronted him about the past. He knew he should've seen it coming when he wasn't in the stands during the Recreational Games or participating. He knew he shouldnt have brought it up now of all times, when things and people were already so high strung. But Bakugou had only been getting worse and worse no matter what he did to stop him! When he approached him, yet again, and put him in a corner, he knew he had to lay down the law! Izuku didn't need any more crap.
He thought this would finally put him in his place, but instead it only seemed to reaped the least wanted outcome. Gar knew there was no going back on this. He had to watch what he made and keep an eye on it so it did not get too out of hand. Uraraka was only a flicker of what could come if he pressed on Bakugou further. The best thing right now would be to back off until the end, and hope things cool down in the process. He bit his thumb nail nervously at these thoughts, hoping for once he was right for the ladder and not the former. He just hoped no one else would set him off or things really could go sideways, and all cause of him.
Izuku then came up to him, while deep in thought, and grabbed his attention with a cough. Gar looked up and saw Izuku wave a finger for him to follow, wordlessly. The glossy and bright sheen from his eyes now gone, not even a smile adored his freckles face, just a neutral expression. Gar knew that he knew, and he was gonna get it from him! And that scared him more than anything at that current time.
Gar wordlessly followed Izuku into the inner part of the stadium, his nerves steady growing as no words were shared between them. Even as Izuku walked ahead of him, never looking back to make sure Gar was still following, he kept walking into the deeper parts of the stadium. Right to the point that all noise from the outside had been nearly drowned out.
Finally Izuku stopped and Gar had to stop short to prevent himself from hitting against his back. Izuku stood there in the lit hallways with his back still turned to him. The sound of Gar's heart beat growing only faster and faster in his ears as sweat formed around his forehead and neck.
Izuku finally made a sound, that being a deep breath, turned around and asked, "What did you do?"
"I can explain.", Gar said a little too fast.
"What. Did you do?", Izuku reiterated a bit more firmly.
"I can explain.", Gar said back firmly with sweat dripping down his hooded face.
Izuku stood there, arms crossed, and raised an eyebrow waiting for his answer.
Gar dramatically let out a breath in a raspberry and said while sharply intaking air, "Bakugou confronted me, pushed me into a box, and I might've panicked a bit."
"Go on.", he said while narrowing his eyes.
"He was demanding info about some…. sensitive material, and so I went full red.", Gar explained nervously while looking to the side with a duck face.
"What?", Izuku started with a firm annoyance in his tone.
"I told him I knew about his past with you and implied to use it against him if he continues.", Gar finally caved.
Izuku's eyes shot open and immediately lost his previous manner for one of shock as he practically shouted in horror, "You what!? Why would you do that!"
"I just told you why!", Gar shouted back!
"Just because he corners you, doesn't mean you should threaten to ruin him! That's low!", Izuku scolds him and aggressively pokes him!
Gar rolls his eyes and shoots back, "Please! If anyone is low, it's him!"
"This isn't about Kacchan's previous behavior, it is about his current! Look what you did to him! Look what nearly happened to Uraraka!", Izuku yells at him!
Grinding his teeth, Gar shouts back in stress,"I know what happened Izuku! I was there! I don't need a Frillish frying recap! I was ready to crap myself, okay! I'm trying to back off so he doesn't do what we dread!"
"Then why would you stoop to such a place!? I know you Gar, I know you're better than this! Even if you don't like Kacchan.", Izuku demands from him!
"Because he-!", Gar readies to exclaim his answer, until he stops short, looks around, and leans down to Izuku in a whisper, "Because he mentioned One for….your quirk.", Izuku's eyes widen at this as Gar continues saying, "He said he knew somehow or figured it out, but I have no idea-wait a minute. He said that 'you told him as much'. Izuku, you didn't tell Katskui about your quirk, did you!?", Gar immediately becomes deathly worried as he looks to Izuku to prove him wrong.
Izuku scratches at his chin as he averts eye contact with him, and replies nervously, "Well, there was this one time-."
"Izuku!", Gar immediately explodes before he can finish! "Are you crazy!? You know how important keeping that secret is! If word got out-!", Gar begins to berate him anxiously.
"I know what will happen!", Izuku shot back!
"Then why did you blabber to him of all people?!", Gar asks again!
Becoming meek again, Izuku says in a light tone, "Be-Because...he at least deserves to know. But I didn't tell him every-!"
"That doesn't make it any better Izuku! And for the record, he doesn't deserve to know anything!", Gar cuts him off in a scolding tone!
"But-!", Izuku tries to defend himself.
"No buts! Now repeat after me. He. Doesn't deserve. To know. Anything!", Gar cuts him off while locking eyes with him.
"Of course he does! He's known me longer, of course he would eventually get suspicious. And besides that, he's my friend-.", Izuku tried to fight back, only to be cut short once more!
"Stop.", Gar says with a tone that's just above normal talking.
Even though he was arguing much louder, it was enough for him to stop and try to reply, "Wha-?"
"I SAID….stop. just stop.", Gar immediately gets aggressive before calming down just as fast. He takes a breath and asks the smaller teen, "How can you say that Izuku? After all he's done, after all he's said, after all he put you through. And you think he's your friend? Are you out of your mind?"
"I...I….I.", Izuku tried to find any words, only for them to fail him in a round of studdering.
Gar shakes his head disapprovingly and waving his hand off in front of the teen he says, "You know what. Forget it. I know I said I would back off, but now I can't use the option anymore."
Izuku then watches as Gar pulls out a pokeball which sends out Malamar. He almost watches him leave before finding his words and asking in an almost helpless way, "Wait. What are you doing?"
"I'm gonna find Katskui and wipe the memory of you 'telling him' about your quirk.", Gar tells him without any hesitation.
He's just about to leave when Izuku immediately grabs his arm and yells, "What!? No! You can't!"
Gar swings his head around aggressively, with a ticked off expression, which makes Izuku flinch, and exclaims back, "And why not!? You alone have put all that generations' long secret at risk! Give me a reason not to."
Finally finding his lost voice he states back without any fear, and getting progressively more aggressive, "Because it's wrong to do something like that. Even if the topic is supposed to be disclosure. It would be low! It would be something that Bayou would do….", Izuku stops in the middle of his rant. He looks to the ground with his mouth open and immediately feels like he should die right there! Looking back up to Gar, whose face was now shadowed by his hood, he says in a meek and apologetic tone, "G-Gar, I'm-i'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean to-."
"In spite of everything he's done, do you know what Bayo taught me amongst all the times we met?", Gar speaks up, making Izuku stop and listen to him fully. "It's that sometimes for the greater good of all, someone has to do bad things to bring good endings. Eventually someone has to get their hands dirty, whether they like it or not."
Swallowing hard he says back in a nice tone, "But Kacchan isn't like that. Even if he did know, he would never use that against us. He's good, he's a hero at heart and he'll be a great hero! We can trust him enough with what he already knows!"
"HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!?", Gar yelled at him, causing the young teen to look away. Calming himself down, he said to him, "Look at me Izuku.", when Izuku refused, he wrapped one arm around his waist and held up his chin with the other. "Look at me!", although he was looking at him, his eyes were closed tight.
"I don't wanna talk about this any more. Let's just stop…..please.", Izuku begged him in a voice on the verge of tears.
"No. We're not going to stop talking about this until you understand, that he is not any of that!", Gar exclaimed!
Izuku immediately pushed Gar off him, and leaned over while keeping his head down and both hands on his chest to keep him at bay, and shouted at the ground, "Yes he is! I know he is! You don't know him like I do!"
Gar blew out an aggravated breath, and breathing back in a calming way, he said in a kinder tone, "Izuku…..look, I didn't want to bring this up. Especially now of all times, but you need to know.", Izuku looked up at him as he said, "You have Stockholm syndrome."
Izuku immediately pushed off him and stood back with an expression that looked like a two way cross off different shocks."W-WHAT!? Th-that's crazy talk! I don't have Stockholm. Kacchan didn't keep me locked up.", he said in a voice that almost sounded like he was trying to convince himself.
"Maybe not in a literal sense, but he did lock you up in a symbolic sense.", Gar told him.
Izuku averted his eyes and ripped his head to the ground while saying, "Stop."
"You were his only friend and he made sure that was it. He turned everyone against you until you only had him as the least worst option.", he continued.
"I said stop.", Izuku covered his ears.
"He kept you from expressing yourself and your interest, he ridiculed you, put you on a leash when he thought you were out of line, made you look like the idiot for wanting to follow you dream, and leeched off all your positivity towards him just so he could feed his own ego!", he exclaimed, this time more forceful.
"Please Stop! I don't wanna talk about this anymore!", Izuku yelled, huddling into himself.
"He's horrible Izuku! And he was horrible to you! I mean, you saved his life and he didn't even thank you! Even when the heroes were congratulating him and heckling you, he did nothing!", Gar half shouted as he went on!
"He….he wasn't that bad. A-And besides, I was being-.", Izuku tried to defend Bakugou and himself in a meek tone.
"IZUKU!", Gar yelled, cutting him off and forcefully cupping his face in both hands. Gar could see that he was on the verge of a breakthrough or a break down in Izuku's watery eyes and lost residence. "HE HURT YOU! Badly hurt you. Day in and say out! Hell, he didn't just hurt you: he abused you, used you, and dragged you at his feet just so he could use you as a footstool! And you're right in saying he's not bad.", Izuku looked confused by this until Gar suddenly continued, "Cause he's terrible! I bet he's found out stuff about you and used it to put you down or you even confined something in him, and he broke it!", Izuku didn't say anything, but by the way he looked away, he knew he hit the nail. "He is not trustworthy, he's not a hero, and above all he's not your friend! Never has been, and never will be!"
Gar finally stopped his rant, almost completely breathless, and waited for Izuku to absorb all this knowledge. The green teen still didn't receive as Gar held his face gently in his hands, looking around as if trying to find some kind of answer that couldn't be seen. He opened his mouth to speak, but only air and noise came out. After swallowing a few times, he finally found his voice again.
"Your right…..he's….he's…...he….not my friend.", Izuku stammered out in a way that seems painful to just say aloud. "I-I just….I thought….", Izuku tried to continue, only for tears to start spelling out and choking his voice. Eventually he finally broke down and yelled out in a sob, "I DON'T KNOW ANY MORE!"
Izuku rammed his face into Gar's chest, and Gar held the teen and patted his head as he cried unhinged into his hoodie! Eventually he managed to speak between his sobbing and yelled, "I'M SO CONFUSED GAR! I'M SO CONFUSED AND CONFLICTED AND I HATE MYSELF FOR IT! WHY AM I LIKE THIS!", he cried some more for who knows how long, until he calmed himself down enough to say in a small voice, "is there something wrong with me?"
Gar immediately felt his heart drop into his leg at the question. Cupping the teens face again he said, "Yes. I mean no! I mean…...you do have a problem, Izuku. And it isn't your fault. You didn't turn out like this by your own choice, but by how others treated you and made you think that way."
"What do I do Gar? How can I stop this, or fix myself? How-?", he tried to ask his nonsensical questions until he became too overwhelmed to speak.
"Izuku.", Gar said in a gentle voice. "This isn't something that you can simply punch your way though or work out in the gym or theorize in your notebook. This is something different, something that takes time to overcome, something that you need others by your side to help you with. With people who can be trusted above all.", he told him in a kind voice while wiping his tears away with his sleeve.
Finally sniffing back he asked Gar, "But...but who can I really trust. Kacchan, he was….but now he's...…do I have anyone?"
Gar almost wanted to laugh at such an dumb question, but instead settled for a chuckle and sideways smile as he replied, "Silly boy. Of course you do! You have Ochako, and Tenya, and Tsuyu I think, and me.", Izuku looked up at the tall teen with wide eyes that were filled with recognition and realization. Gar leaned his head down to Izuku, placing his forehead on his and told him, "You don't have to go through this alone Izuku. Even when it feels like the world is against you, you'll always have someone there at your side. And I'll always be one of those people."
Izuku said nothing, and embraced the taller teen in a hug which Gar gently returned. They stayed like that for a good while, with Izuku weeping silently into his chest and Gar holding him. Felling just how small and helpless he did right now, like when he would hold a newly hatched pokemon for the first time.
Eventually Izuku finally pulled away and asked Gar, without booking up at him, "Gar. What should I do now? I mean, I wanna forgive Kacchan, but now I feel all strange about it. Like two parts of me are at war with each other."
"It's normal to feel that way when you've been trying to convince yourself in a lie. As for what you should do, ultimately that's up to you. But if you want my opinion: then Katsuki isn't worthy of your forgiveness or deserves an explanation into your quirk or anything regarding you. If anything I'd distance yourself and think things through while watching how he progresses. Only then should you come to an ultimatum. "Gar explained and offered to him.
"I think I'll start with that.", Izuku agreed while wiping his face.
"And hey, if you want to, you can be confined to a couple of teachers. I know from experience that Cementoss and Ectoplasm are pretty reliable and trustworthy. Even Aizawa, despite his….well you know.", Gar offered with a smile.
"I'll think about that too.", Izuku says while smiling back, but still looking to the side. Gar prepares to leave, but Izuku quickly catches his arm again and exclaims, "Wait!", Gar stops and turns around to face the suddenly panicked teen. "You're not still gonna wipe Kacchan's mind are you?", he asks in a pleading tone.
Gar takes a deep breath, he looks to Malamar, who looks displaced on whatever he does next, and Gar takes out its pokeball and returns the creature back.
"No…..no I'm not. I'll admit that was a bit of a brash decision I had in the moment, especially for me.", he says in a low and self disappointed tone while rubbing his head.
Izuku breathes a sigh of relief and replies, "I'm glad for that. I know Kacchan is, well…..less is better said, but I know there's good in him."
Gar turns away from him and just before leaving he says over his shoulder in a voice just hinging on stress and fear, "I hope you're right Izuku. I really hope you're right."
Gar walked through the comforting silence of the seemingly never ending hallways as he aimlessly meandered around for no set destination. Today only seems to be getting more and more stressful from helping others with their problems. If anything, he should be getting paid for all his free self counseling services! He just hoped it didn't get any worse with what was already on the table.
He continued his senseless walk until he came upon a very loud sound ringing in the distance. He followed the sound until he heard it to be a very loud, angry, and masculine voice. The voice was yelling something to someone more specifically, almost berating them for something. Gar couldn't make out the specifics but it sounded like this person was really giving an ear full. He finally came to a corner and poked his head around where he saw Shoto and his father, Endeavor. Endeavor looked even more fierce and fire than usual as he yelled only inches from his son's stone cold and aggressive face. He was holding the smaller boy by his shirt collar, keeping him in place, and letting him have it!
All while Shoto was tight and tense in his fists and whole body! The majority of Endeavors bellowing mostly revolve around what Shoto should've done, what he shouldn't have done, that he should be better than this, and a whole bunch of blah blah blah Bouffalant shit that made the blood in Gars veins rise!
Gar tried to keep it together but the best he could do was claw at the wall angrily as he watched and desperately wanted to intervene, but didn't know how. Gar must've been clawing at the wall pretty hard, cause once he started on a good track, the noise he didn't hear caught both of the men's attention.
Gar stopped claiming once he realized they were looking at him, and readjusted himself and walked out with a calm and aloof demeanor while saying in a smug and sassy tone, "Well well well, if it isn't the Number One hero. Oops! Sorry I forget you're not All Might."
"Get lost alien.", Endeavor let go of his son's shirt and immediately told Gar off.
Gar approached the two, coming within talking distance and stated matter-a-factly, "Uh, first off: I'm human like you, I'm just from a different dimension. And second: why are you trying to shoo me off so fast? Hmm? I just came here to chat. Got something to hide or maybe….you're just trying to hide?", he promoted him with a smug and wicked looking smile.
"This doesn't concern you, alien. Move along. Now!", the fire man commanded him, fully knowing what he ment.
"Oh…..I really think it does.", Gar said back while rubbing his chin. He then pulled some money from his pocket and forcefully shoved it into Shoto's chest while offering, "Todoroki, why don't you go buy yourself some sugar coated whatever while your dad and I talk."
"But Gar-.", he tried to speak up.
"Shoo.", Gar cut him off and sent him away with a stern tone and a wave of his hand.
Gar kept his eyes locked on Endeavor the whole time as Shoto left with his posture still taut and aggressive. Endeavor looked like he wanted to go after and grab his son, but Gar's hard yellow eyes somehow kept him pinned to the spot on the floor. It was almost like this 'Mean Look' of his was preventing him from escaping the ensuing battle to happen between them.
Once Todoroki left, Gar gingerly walked close to the tall man while talking like a mischievous cheesy movie villain, saying, "Well now, would you look at that? It's just you, me, and Giratina watching us.", a glint from his eyes sparkled under his hood at the last statement.
"What the hell do you want?", Endeavor put on a far more aloof yet aggressive posture and tone as he crossed his arms over his chest
"You already know that, Endeavor.", he said, keeping his impish smile and an aggressive tone.
Endeavor flared up some at his mocking voice and leaned down towards him while poking him roughly, "Listen here Poké-thing, you're stepping on the wrong toes! I'm the Number 2 hero! I have more power and influence than you can imagine!"
Gar raised a skeptical eyebrow and replied back in a calm tone, "Is that what you think? Tch, how sad and corny. Thinking your above the things you do, when in reality you're only building a shatty tower that's bound to topple over.", he then turned to the side and gave the tall man a side smile he finished, "Especially the things you do to others."
"Watch it! You have nothing to do with my son! So stay the hell out or else!", he exclaimed in a threatening tone while grabbing his collar.
Gar simply scoffed at his temperament flare and slowly pulled his hand off his while saying in a sleeze tone, "Oh I think he does. Cause you see Flame boy, he's not as you see him."
Endeavor raised his eyebrow and replied back in an aggravated prideful tone, "What are you blabbering about? He's my Magnum opus, my greatest creation, he will take All Might as the number One hero! If he would only prove it."
"That's where you're wrong again.", he stated back smugly as Endeavor raised his other eyebrow at his boldness. "He's not your anything. He's not your prize, your tool, your hitch, your weapon, and he's especially not your pseudo peg to metaphorically reach the Number One hero status that always seemed to be out of your reach. For the sole purpose of Inflating your ego or compensate for your own fragile pride or anything else of the sort!", Gar's temper steadily rose until it exploded into a yell that almost dwarfed Endeavors!
"You are really pushing it now. Get out of my sight or leave charred.", the fiery man threatened him while leaning down as the flames grew yellow in color.
Completely ignoring the signs of the oncoming frying, and anything else in the room, Gar stood his ground against Endeavor like a wild Rhyhorn, locking eyes with him and slowly walking into him, making the huge man suddenly back up!
"Cause if you do continue on this path. And I pray you don't.", Gar went off on his own set of threats, ignoring his previous one, to the huge man until he had him walk backwards with an anxious look at his boldness! Up until the man suddenly slipped and fell to his butt! Gar continued to advance slowly until he walked right onto his face and leaned down into his shocked face and said with a deadly tone in his voice, "I. Will. Destroy you! And they'll never find any evidence. I have about five pokemon for that alone.", he hissed while cracking his hand into a fist.
He scraped his boot on the man's chest and immediately turned on his heels to walk away boldly and victorious. Endeavor still had his shocked expression after Gar started to leave! Never in his life had he ever had anyone treat him or talk to him like this since he was a child! It was all so shell shocking to him! He tried to find his words in his dry throat, but only could manage out a meek retort.
"You-You sound a lot like that green wimp kid All Might has his affection on.", Endeavor stated in a completely out of character tone.
Gar stopped his bitch walk and turned his head just enough for his mouth to be seen as he replied back, "Well that alone should speak volume of his intelligence and maturity in comparison to yours. But then again, theirs not much of a comparison to start with.", Gar roasted him while boldly walking off as he laughed at his stab at the hero.
Endeavor sat there on the ground and watched in dumbfounded shock as the teen confidently walked away, leaving him far less of both a man and a hero. He eventually got back to his feet and angrily huffed away with his tail tucked, completely forgetting about his son.
Gar walked the hallway for less than a minute, breathing a sigh of relief as he finally left Endeavor behind, feeling the heat finally draw away from his body and his sweat glands stop working in overtime. Sure he stood up to endeavor like the wild Typhlosion he was, but that didn't make it any less scary. He turned the first corner he could to fully get out of his sight and immediately came upon Shoto.
He was standing just inches from the corner, no doubt heard all that they both yelled about, with a candy bar that he was gripping tightly in his hands to the point that whatever was inside the wrapper was properly just goo. He looked at the yonder teen in silent silence, unsure of what to say. But he noticed how much he was shaking and how tense he was. Before that same tenseness was under control, but now it was like he was a turtle huddling in his shell. His body shook with something crossed between relief, fear, and anger: like the skin on a Musdale.
He finally brought his eyes up to look at Gar, and the older teen saw how his lower lip trembled and his eyes were on the verge of breaking. Without another word between them, Shoto plopped his head on Gar's shoulder. Gar wrapped the boy around his arms and pulled him close. Shoto was shaking so bad now that it almost seems like he was freezing cold, but he wasn't.
Instead he felt hot, like he stood near a stove for too long. A heat he recognized as Endeavors. The poor boy had suffered so much in his life and was trying to fight back with few people who knew, cared or understood. Gar was at least happy knowing, standing there with him shaking in his embrace, that he was one of those three things to him. Still no words were shared as they fell into one another in the stern silence that comfortable wrapped around them. Gar wanted to tell him to let it out, but stayed silent and simply let him come to it in his own time. And that Gar did, letting the boy know he was safe with him.
Once Gar finally left Todoroki, he continued his meandering through the hallways until he reached the upper levels where the special guest, a.k.a the investors, were seated in special outlook booths. Eh knew he should sit back with the rest of the class so as to not set Bakugou off, so he decided to stay as far away as possible, for now. A TV is positioned on one of the walls, live streaming the entire scene of Present Mic going off on his overexaggerated announcer blah blah stuff, getting the crowd pumped, while preparations are made for the next battle. That being Izuku and Todoroki.
At this point, Gar is already spent in an emotional sense. Having to deal with not one, but 6 cases of emotional and self aware turmoil, two of which he practically had to come back to twice! He ran his hands across his face and through his hair where he pushed his hood off in anxiety! He pushed his back against a wall, adjacent from the tv, and fell to his butt where he placed his hands back on his face and sighed a stressed and exhausted breath. He really should be getting paid to do this.
He sat there for long enough for Mic to drone one long enough for Eraser to occasionally chime in. A tense stress wrecked his body that made him want to just give up then and their. He felt like he didn't even have the drive to do the second part of the festival. Simply call Nezu and cancel it, and he knew that the principle would be more than understanding. Fully knowing the situation he was in, and everything else that was happening on top of it wasn't helping a bit.
He pulled his knees up and just rested his head on them while hearing the incomprehensible noise from the tv as simple background noise. He sat like that for whoever knew how long, and was broken out of it when one of the pokeballs on his belt began to shake. He looked up just in time to see one of them pop open and watch as Mimikyu manifested right before him. The little pokemon simply stood there with its plain black eyes staring at his stressed out expression.
Finally the little pokemon made a move and scuttled around to the crook of Gar's lap between his legs and chest. The pokemon wedged himself in between the right space and somehow made himself comfortable in the claustrophobic area and looked up at Gar with his beady black eyes. Gar continued to stare at the little Pokemon until it sprouted up two of its shadowy arms, wrapped it around him, and nuzzled its face into his belly.
Gar couldn't hold back the giggle jiggling in his belly and he burst out laughing only seconds into the nuzzling. He scooped the tiny Pokemon into his arms and hugged it while continuing to laugh, rocking it back and forth and hugging him back even tighter. Eventually he stopped laughing and held the little Pokémon up to his face.
He let out a common sigh and said to it, "Thanks Mimikyu, I really needed that. I was just about ready to give up. I know it might seem silly to you, but there's a whole lot at stake here and with everything else just piling on top of it, it only seems to be getting harder.", Mimikyu only tilted it's fake head to the side in confusion. "I know you probably can't understand me or understand what I'm going through, but it means a lot that you still care. You'll always be my favorite.", He said lovingly while rubbing the Pokémon's face with his finger.
Gar lets out a hefty sigh and sits there with Mimikyu on his much more relaxed and splayed out figure. He stays like that for more than a few minutes, stroking the Pokemon and letting himself calm down bit by bit. Eventually he calmed down enough to feel his previous drive flow through his body.
He looks at the little Pokemon still sitting on his lap and says, "Well I feel a lot better now, thanks a bunch for this I really owe you one.", The Pokemon responded with the noise that sounded much more like a squeaky toy.
He stands up, brushes himself off, and looks into one of the windows to check his reflection. Immediately notices the deep worry lines on his forehead and face. He tries to rub it out but only makes his face look red and blotchy, like he had been crying, even his hair looks like a mess.
His hair. Oh that's right he couldn't let anyone see his hair! Not yet anyway.
You quickly fixes the mess up and puts it back on his hood, hoping no one has seen him prematurely. Mimikyu looked at his current mannerisms strangely and thinking that he was distressed again the little Pokémon tried to hug him once more. Gar immediately noticed this and put the Pokemon at ease by petting his fake head.
"It's okay buddy. I'm not all overstimulated again, just trying to hide this new feature until the right time. Once the battle tournament ends, that's when I'll come to shine off my new look. A good mystery is best revealed at the climax. And I should get myself siked up for it, after all, the show must go on.", He told Mimikyu while giving himself one last look.
Once he was satisfied with the way he presented, he began to walk off until Mimikyu poked his face and pointed at the TV. Gar looked at what the Pokemon was pointing to and saw that the next battle had already long since started. He would've just ignored it, but he was surprised to see it was between Izuku and Shoto! So he decided to stay and watch, and not because Mimikyu was painfully poking his cheek to watch it with sparkly eyes.
As he watched what looked like the middle of the fight, he could believe his eyes as to how much damage they had done to the ring! It almost looked more like the climax! Both boys were completely out of breath and injured. Izuku with several broken fingers that were now purple and Shoto who looked ready to freeze over or throw up from how much damage he took from the air pressure on his gut!
Gar had no idea who to root for, but whatever was happening in the battle was nothing compared to what was actually going on between them. Even though he could hear what they were saying to each other, he could tell it was deep. No doubt something to do with Todoroki by the way Izuku was the one heading off their conversation. Then Izuku shouted something just loud enough over the roaring of the crowds for even the tv to pick up.
"IT'S YOUR QUIRK! ISN'T IT!?"
Gar couldn't help but smile wide and proud at his proclamation, and at the expression that adorned Shoto's face. He wanted to reminisce in the moment some more but then he smelled something burning, then felt something burning! Looking at his smoking hip he saw a pokeball glowing a bright orange! He screamed and swatted the device off his hip before he erupted in flames.
He backs to the far side of the wall and is about to verbally question what was going on when the glowing ball suddenly burst open and a Pokemon materialized in a flash of fiery light! It was Moltres, standing tall and proud with its back turned towards Gar. Gar was confused since he was sure that he put the Pokémon back into the vault after the lighting of the torch. He was about to speak to the Pokémon to see why it suddenly released itself, when the large firebird opened its wings and took off! It's wings setting fire to whatever it flew past!
Gar panicked for a moment at seeing the Pokémon just run off and the whole hallway he was in erupt into flames! But centering himself quickly he took out another pokeball and Articuno appeared before him! The Pokémons presence alone causes a small area of the fire to go out!
Gar jumps on the birds back, before grabbing Moltres's cooled pokeball, and shouted, "Follow that Bird Type!"
Articuno took off cold on Moltres's tail, snuffing out every piece of fire in its wake, and leaving the hallway a bitter cold as it follows. The cold bird tails the hot bird until they are both outside of the inner parts of the coliseum standing in a pedestrian cat walk right underneath the giant ceremonial torch. Articuno lands and Gar jumps off to confronts the Pokemon, which now stand on the guard rail and is overlooking the field ring as the battle continues below. Gar stops, confused by this behavior, then turns around I'm finally notices the ceremonial torch burning brightly behind them.
Gar looks back at the Pokémon and asks, "Moltres. Why'd you come here? What's going on?"
The Pokémon doesn't turn around to face him, and keeps its eyes on the field below. Gar goes to the Pokemon and looks down at the fighting ring where Shoto and Izuku are still battling it out. Gar gets nervous, knowing the last time at the have like this was because of Shoto's refusal to use his flames. He hopes that the Pokemon doesn't do anything brash: So to be safe he gets the Pokémon's pokeball at the ready to return it in a moment's notice.
Then Moltres lifted it's head, spread its wings, and flew up into the air. Gar flinched as he watched the Pokémon rise up, and then he nearly felt his heart drop into his foot when the Pokémon suddenly cloaked its entire body in flames! The fire in the torch behind them started to grow out, glow brighter and more powerful. People in the crowd had started to notice the giant flaming bird rise up into the sky and the ceremonial torch suddenly grew bigger and bigger!
The Moltres did something that not only confused Gar further, but also scared him badly enough for Articuno to come to his protection! Moltres let out a huge scream that echoed all across the stadium causing all light flames to double in both height and power! Even the ceremonial flame behind them turned into more of that column of flames that shot well into the clouds! And at that very moment the left side of Shoto's body went up in flames!
Gar saw this and now felt a flush and pride and excitement with his stress and fear! Gar watched as Moltres stayed in the air the whole time the battle went down, like a divine God looking upon its champion. Blows of near equal power and destruction rained from both sides until both finished off their fight with their own special haymakers! In the end, it was Shoto who was victorious over Izuku, who had gotten knocked out cold from over exertion and laying just on the border of the ring.
The crowd cheered and hollered with the delight at the fight as Midnight announced Todoroki as the victor of the round. The two-toned teen stood there half dazed, half exhausted, and only half dressed from his fire literally eating half of his whole outfit. All the fires around the arena were still going strong and bright, especially from one particular set of flames coming from one flaming hero.
He was walking down one of the mediums in the pedestrian booths, he finally stopped at one of the flats tops babbling something that no one close enough could hear, until he finally shouted out something that could be heard clearly and crossed the whole arena.
"SHOTOOOOOOOOOOOO!", Endeavor cried out with his head shot towards the sky and his flames growing even bigger.
However the moment was cut very short as Moltres took immediate notice of this, and turning to the man the Pokemon let out another loud and very threatening scream at the man! A wave of primal fear, fear of the flame, spread across the whole stadium at the sound of the scream, the brunt of which was directed at Endeavor.
The tall man immediately stopped…. whatever it was he was doing, and stood perfectly still! Almost like an animal hiding in the brush out of fear of being seen. He kept that pose as his whole body clamped up with a fear he never felt before. Then out of nowhere, all the flames covering his face and hero suit all extinguished in one second. As if someone or something had forcefully turned them off, despite it being his body and his flames. Leaving Endeavor not only very confused, but also very scared and suspicious.
The primal fear left as fast as it came; more specifically, when Moltres stopped commanding all lit flames to grow, stopped covering itself in fire, and finally landed on the lookout where Gar, Articuno, and Mimikyu were still standing.
Gar approached the Pokémon as it preened itself and asked, "Sooooooooo your not gonna go on a rampage and burn everything down in your name?"
The Pokémon, seemingly understanding him, shook its head no.
Gar let out a sigh of relief and said, "What a relief!", He then took the ultra ball for Moltres off his belt and told the Pokémon, "Now get back in your pokeball before someone finds us and we get into some hot water-."
Gar never got to finish that thought as a new voice called out from behind him in a not so pleased tone, "Garfield."
"AH!", Gar yelped while turning around to meet a smiling Nezu, who really was smiling for a different reason.
Gar panicked and grabbed one of Articuno's wings, pulled it across his body, and shouted quickly, "Nezu! What are you doing here?! I'm not decent!"
Nezu said nothing in reply, and instead he kept his beady black eyes trailed on Gar with the same unsettling smile.
Gar laughed nervously and said, "I bet you're wondering-."
"Yes, I am wondering. Why don't we go to my office and talk it over some tea.", Nezu prompted in a tone that left no room for argument.
Gar knew he couldn't fight back, so he returned both birds and kept Mimikyu on his shoulder while following after the small animal man thing.
Gar looks down at the table, then up at Nezu, then back at the table, and back to Nezu.
He finally keeps his eyes on the small animal and says nervously, "I didn't think you were serious about the whole 'tea' thing."
On the table, in an office in the stadium that Nezu used for overseeing everything at the festival, was a large tray with biscuits and butter, cheeses, cured meats, and a kettle of hot tea.
"Why would I joke about such a thing?", Nezu replied while munching down on a block of swiss cheese.
"Because I thought it was a euphemism for saying I'm in trouble?", He answered back confused while trying to ward off the look of disgust as he watched the animal speed eat the block.
"Oh you are in trouble.", Nezu states nonchalantly, making Gar pale. "But only by how you best explain what just happened.", He followed up while taking a sip from his tea cup.
"Um, well-.", Gar tires to collect his thoughts nervously, until Nezu cuts him off.
"Oh before we start on that, could you do one thing for me.", Gar looks at the animal confused but silently nods. "Could you tell me what Mimikyu is doing and tell him to stop."
On the table, sitting not too far from Nezu was Mimikyu, looking directly at the principal with both arms stretched out and lightly slapping both checks rapidly. Almost like the Pokémon was petting him. Nezu would swipe the pokémons hands away, which would hover just outside his swiping range, then immediately go back to the rapid papping motion.
Gar sweat drops and chuckles at Mimikyu's behavior as he explains, "I think he knows I'm in trouble, but doesn't want to cause a scene, so he's trying to cause a distraction for me to make a get away. "
"Are you?", Nezu asks, with a tone that was daring him not too.
Gar laughs nervously and replies, "Oh I think I know when I've been had. And as far as getting him to stop, I don't think I can do that."
Nezu takes another sip from his cup and says, "Well lucky I've come prepared for this.", he then reaches inside one of the desk drawers and pulls out a cat bell toy.
Mimikyu's attention is immediately grabbed by the brightly colored pleasant sounding object and tries to make a grab for it. Only for Nezu to toss it over his shoulder and Mimikyu to jump after it. The pokemon hopped from the table and began to playfully swat at the toy until he swatted it too far and ran excitedly after it.
Gar looked up from watching Mimikyu entertain itself and asked, "Why do you have that?"
"Sometimes I get the overwhelming urge to chase after something shiny and ringing. But we are not here for that, now are we?", he asked with an unsettling smile.
Gar swallows hard and replies, "R-Right. Where was I?"
"The beginning.", Nezu protected him.
"Right right, the beginning. Well, I was by the VIP booth hallway, where all the snooty investors are getting their butts kissed by us-.", Gar began to explain until Nezu cut him off.
"Why are they there?", he inquired cursorily.
Gar rubber the back of his head while avoiding eye contact and replied, "I….needed to get away from all the action. I was pretty stressed out after some stuff happened and it just kept piling on and on until…..", Gar trailer off.
"Until?", Nezu lightly prompted him.
"Until….until I really wanted to just cancel the last surprise event after the Battle Tournament. I….didn't think I could handle any more stress.", Gar finally caved with a self berating tone.
"Garfield.", Nezu grabbed his full attention with a kind tone. "If you think this is too much right now then you can absolutely cancel it. No one will think any little of you and no one else besides the faculty know of it.", Nezu kindly offered him with a genuine smile.
Gar smiled at the principle and said back, "Thanks Nezu, but it's alright now. Cause a little someone was there to help me. I just needed a little breathing room, and besides, the show must go on right? Can't leave the public in suspense of the little surprise I have in store and under my hood.", he adjusted the hood on his head.
Nezu sighs and says back, "If you say you're fine then I'll believe you, but if not, let me know and I can end the Sports Festival at the Battle Tournament.", Gar smiles at him again. Taking his cup of tea and adding sugar, Nezu then asked, "Now then, about Moltres."
Gar looked, took it back and confused the other question as he stuttered, "Huh? Oh right! Well as I was watching the last battle on one of the TVs and Moltres popped out of nowhere, took off, and set everything ablaze in its wake.", he explained briefly as Nezu stops stirring and gives him a visibly intense aura, which immediately makes Gar reinstate his previous statement, "BUT don't worry, I put it all out! That's why I had Articuno with me."
"Could you skip to the part at the rising fire?", Nezu prompted his explanation quicker, continuing his stirring motion.
"Oh yeah, that. Well you know how Moltres attack Shoto for not using his fire half the first time you met him.", Gar awkward recalls previous and fiery events.
"I'm aware.", Nezu confirms.
"Well the simplest answer is balance.", Gar answered simply, making Nezu give him a skeptical expression. Gar sighs at his reaction and reiterates saying, "What I mean is Shoto finally accepted his power and balance was achieved, and so Moltres was celebrating. And I think Moltres might've blessed his fire to grow more powerful than it was."
"It can do that.", Nezu asked incredulously.
Gar put on a deadpan expression while holding his palms at his head with fingertips pointing towards Nezu, and replied, "It's the God of Fire, Nezu, of course it can."
Shrugging, at the answer given, Nezu deviates from the original topic as he says, "And you do realize what Moltres did was technically cheating."
"I didn't tell Moltres to do that, he did it on his own. And besides I only said 'I think, not I know'.", Gar defended himself.
"And the part where it screamed at Endeavor?", Nezu prompted.
Gar shrugs and replied, "I don't know? Maybe Moltres just doesn't like him? Being the deity of flames, it can read any individual Pokemon based on their own unique fire."
"It can!?", Nezu retarded with genuine surprise. Gar narrows his eyes with a displeased expression giving Nezu his answer. "Right, God of Fire. But still, that's incredible!", He exclaimed as Gar smiles and nonchalantly shrugs while reclining in his seat. "
And if it's not too much to ask.", Nezu prompted him again while taking a long sip from his cup. "Mind if I ask what has become of young Bakugou's current attitude shift?", He asks as his aura grows scary once more.
"Yeah...that was kind of me.", Gar admits while growing tense and begging to sweat. "He found out about some sensitive info and I kind of threaten to ruin him with some dirt I had on him.", He explained as Nezu kept his eyes hard on him.
"I told you reading the minds of others would lead to despair.", Nezu scolded him.
"Hey it's not my fault. I only linked up with a Psychic type pokemon to see what was in the heads of others. I didn't tell them to look deep. And this is what you're focusing on?", Gar defended himself.
"And what sensitive info did young Bakugou find out?", Nezu asked further, getting back to the topic.
"One for All.", Gar blabbered aloud, causing Nezu to spit his tea. "I knew you'd do that."
"How did-?!", Nezu began to ask while wiping his face.
Gar cut him off and waving his hand he stated, "I'd rather not disclose that, but for now, Katsuki is only suspicious and has some ideas, but nothing set in stone."
"Well that's a relief. Is that all?", Nezu asked further, only to get a wordless nod from Gar. "Wonderful, now one more question if you don't mind."
Gar raised an eyebrow at the question but nodded regardless. "What did Rotom after his little explanation of Zoroark? He seems to be insisting something, something about you if I'm not mistaken?", he theorized.
Gar paler at the question and Nezu's hard and demanding gaze! He began to sweat profusely, his eyes widened, his body tensed, and his knuckles turned white as he tried to hide the ever-growing anxiety bubbling up inside of him!
Taking a silent yet hard gulp he said far too quickly to be remotely nonchalant, "Yep you're mistaken! I have no idea what you're on about! Rotom just likes to spread false gossip! MAN, this is some good tea!", he emphasized while downing his tea and immediately regretted it as he saw Nezu's expression. Trying to save himself he dropped the tea glass, jumped from his seat, scoped up Mimikyu and exclaimed, "If that's all I think we should get back to view the last fight."
Just as he was about to rush out, Nezu quickly caught him with his words, saying, "I'm afraid that's already ended. They're already getting ready for the Award Ceremony and then it'll be your turn.", almost appearing to invite him back with his aura that seemed to be pulling him back.
Gar sweated at the tense aura the animal thing was doing, but fought back as he exclaimed while rushing out the door, "Well what are we waiting for?! Let's GO!"
Nezu and Gar arrived at one of the many outlooks and gazed at the stadium and field, waiting for the ceremony to start. However, they had been standing at the outlook for well over 20 minutes. And much like the endless crowd of onlookers, Gar was getting pretty antsy waiting for the distraction to arise. He knew that if they waited any longer then Nezu would want to small talk, and no doubt he'd bait him into talking about his little 'cover up' back in the office. He knew Nezu was smart like that, he was practically a psychic type minus the move things with your mind. And with the aura he was giving off, standing inches from Gar, not looking at him, but still having his sights on him, Gar knew he was done for if he didn't take control of the situation.
So taking a deep breath he decided to take control of the conversation before Nezu did. "Hey, when's the Award Ceremony? Shouldn't it have started like 15 minutes ago?", he tried asking nonchalantly while holding back the tremoring in his voice.
Nezu pulled out a phone and after texting someone, he replied, "From what my sources say, our winners seem to be taking a bit longer than usual to recover from their fights. I believe it's in our best interest to check up on them."
Gar internally swore as he sweat dropped nervously as he and Nezu started to walk to the Recovery Girls office. He didn't even want to join him, but his legs moved without his consent! He really wondered if Nezu was just a smart animal. He had no idea how to change the topic from here, and his buzzing mind sure wasn't helping. He just hoped that Nezu would take the silence surrounding them as a hint.
"Garfield.", Nezu started.
Well that didn't last long.
"Hmm?", Gar replied, trying to sound calm.
"You know you can still cancel the last secret event if you want to. You don't have to pretend you're alright. Like I said, there's no shame and no one will-.", Nezu began to say until Gar, who internally sighed with relief, cut him off.
"Nezu. I already said I'm fine now, there's no need to worry. I just need a little….centering, that's all.", Gar told him.
Nezu took a minute, a very long minute, to reply back, making Gar very nervous again. He then said, "Well….I'll take your word. But just thinking it this way; the worst of it is over. You're finally over the hump and things are downhill from here."
Gar paused for a moment and thought about this, even Nezu stopped his walk to wait for his epiphany to end. He mulled it over in his mind for a bit and couldn't help but come to the conclusion that he was right.
"Yeah….YEAH! You know what? You're right Nezu. I really have finally gone over the hump. Maybe you're right.", Gar states exuberantly, as Nezu smiles.
They both continued down the hallway with Gar smiling and Nezu keeping a good pace until they finally hit the Nurses office. Just before opening the door, Gar said to Nezu with a more cheery demeanor, "Maybe things will be better going forward."
Once they opened the door and walked inside, every notion of before was nearly erased as they saw the sight before them! Recovery Girl and her team of Pokemon were at the far corner as a very awake and very angry Bakugou was raging all around! Yelling incoherent nonsense and blasting anything in range of his anger! Chansey and Blissey were trying to protect Recovery Girl from any harm with Florges and Comfey hiding behind her! Chimecho was stuck to the ceiling and screaming loudly, Aromatisse was hiding under one of the patient beds, and Miltank was trying to defend against Bakugou with a patient bed that was swinging like nothing, around like a weapon!
The entire scene was a complete mess and the only thing Gar could do in reaction was yell, "What in the blessed name of the Weather Trio is going on!?"
Suddenly everything and everyone stopped as they all stared at Gar. Including Bakugou, who went from surprised to livid in seconds!
"You…..", he drawled out with an angry grunt.
"Uh oh.", Gar felt his flight or fight instincts kick in.
Bakugou brought his hands at his side as sparks danced around them, and charging at Gar he yelled, "You bastard! I'll kill you!"
Then Gar did something that surprised everyone. He took a defensive stance, shot out his hand pointing a finger, and let out a high-pitched squeal, like that of an angry pig! Suddenly Miltank three the bed it was waving around directly at Bakugou and blindsided him! Bakugou crumpled to the ground and before he could spring up, both Chansey and Blissey held down his arms, with Miltank jumping and landing on his back, pinning the ranging teen down! Before he could even utter a curse or shout, Morelull appeared before his face and sprayed the sleep powder point blank! Within moments Bakugou's eyes went heavy and he passed out, letting a feeling of relief wash over everything.
"Good work you guys!", Gar congratulates his pokémon.
"Why did you just squeal like a pig? And how did your Pokemon know what you were saying?", Recover Girl asks confused as Miltank gets off Bakugou while Chansey and Blissey both place his sleeping body on a new bed
"What's a pig?", Gar asks back.
Recovery Girl sweat drops and sighs back, "Forget it."
"Chyio, what happened here?", Nezu butted in, finally finding his voice.
Recover Girl begins to readjust herself while the Pokémon put everything back into place, and explained, "I'm not sure. One minute I'm just standing here and checking on all the injured as they were asleep. The next thing I know, Bakugou suddenly jumps from his bed screaming up nonsense and letting off his quirk. Spooked me so bad I fell right off my stool. And Miltank had to keep him at bay with the bed he was sleeping in."
"What was he screaming about?", Gar inquired as he pulled a frightened Chimecho off the ceiling.
Recovery Girl pounded for a moment then replied to her memory, "Something about it 'not being fair' and 'he cheated me' and 'that icy hot didn't give me the fight I want'. I really don't know what he was on about."
"Nezu, any ideas?", Gar asked the animal while letting Chimecho wrap around his arm.
"Well young Bakugou did fight young Todoroki in the final battle, and won. Perhaps that's who he was talking about.", Nezu theorized.
"Then what's his problem? He won. Isn't that what he wanted?", Recovery Girl asked.
"Something tells me Shoto didn't give it his all and Katskui didn't like that. I know Katskui, and he doesn't just like showing he's superior, but also feeling like he's superior. And I know Shoto went all out with Izuku.", Gar put forth while removing Morelull from Bakugou's sleeping face.
Recovery Girl sighs exasperated and says, "Why must beggars always be choosers?"
"Cause if you feed Meowth on nothing but fine steak, that's the only thing they'll ever want to eat.", Gar gave one of his petals of wisdom while unwedeging Aromatisse from under a bed.
"So what do we do about him? No doubt when he wakes up again, he'll just rage once more.", Recovery Girl asks while all three of them look around the sleeping form of the young teen.
Nezu sighs and replies, "I'm afraid to say, but we're probably gonna have to employ drastic measures."
"If you're afraid then why are you smiling so darkly?", Gar asks with a shiver while looking at the creepy smile on Nezu's small face.
"I'll call Power Loader to get the chains and muzzle.", Nezu retorts in an almost chipper tone while taking out his phone.
"Muzzle?!", Gar half shouts before grabbing the phone from the animal's paws, long before he could speed dial. "WOAH WOAH WOAH! Hold on a minute there Nezu. I don't like Katskui much myself, but doesn't that seem a bit too much? And will you stop smiling!", He states while throwing a threatening finger in the nose of the creepily smiling Principal.
"Do you have something else in mind?", He asks, the creepy look still not falling.
"As a matter a fact, I do.", Gar states boldly with a smile while going to his A.M.P.D.
The award ceremony finally came 20 minutes late. All the students grouped on the center field with Midnight taking her place on the umpire podium. The crowd was abuzz with excitement as cheers and loud talking echoed all around. Even Gar was there, mingled in the crowd of young teens waiting to see the winner appear and take their prizes. But mostly he was there to make sure that his little contingency plan for Bakugou didn't pop any last minute holes while he had his pants down.
Midnight flicked her hair back and cracked her whip to gain silence of the crowd and full attention of the murmuring teens. "Alright everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful time participating and viewing the sports festival this year! With all its twists and turns and new events with the implication of pokemon! But now it's the moment you've all been waiting for! Without further ado, I'll let All Might take it from here!"
Just then, descending from the sky, All Might appeared once again with an astounding landing and laugh! "I AM HERE!", he bellowed his famous phrase, and the crowd went absolutely nuts! He waved to the many people before taking a stand on the umpire stage and proclaimed, "THANK YOU TO EVERYONE OF YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS YEAR'S SPORTS FESTIVAL! AND WE HOPE THAT WE CAN MAKE NEXT YEARS JUST AS PLUS ULTRA FOR YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE! NOW WITHOUT ANY MORE HESITATION, HERE I HAVE THE MEDALS TO OUR FOUR, THIRD, SECOND, AND FIRST PLACE WINNERS!", he proclaimed while holding out four medals of different metal types: iron, bronze, silver, and gold. "AND NOW, HERE THEY ARE! I GIVE YOU, THE WINNERS OF THIS YEARS UA SPORTS FESTIVAL!"
All Might made a motion to behind him where a plum of clear smoke emitted as a stage lifted from some kind of machinal compartment underneath the field and behind the umpire stand. It was like a typical Olympic winners stand; colored red with gold trim, with four raised sections dictating Fourth, Third, Second, and First, and the corresponding number under each one. The fourth place stand was empty, but third place was stood on by Tokyogami, Second was Todoroki, and first was Bakugou. But once the smoke cleared enough, it was obvious that Bakugou wasn't by himself. Instead of being chained up, like Nezu originally wanted, he was instead being restrained by a pokemon. A Beware to be exact. Not only that, the large and decisively cute looking pokemon was holding Bakugou up by his neck, slowly choking the struggling teen who was already red in the face.
Once Gar realized what his pokemon was doing, he sprung into action and yelled, "Beware! No! Put him down!", the pokemon obeyed and dropped the teen, who proceeded to gasp and cough for air on his knees. "I told you to Restrain his movement, not Restrict his breathing!", he scolded the pokemon, who put its huge paws over its eyes, looking extremely cute and ashamed.
"Beware? Was that even a good idea in the first place? They are pretty strong and dangerous. I mean-wouldn't Macham be a better restrainer?", Uraraka asked beside him.
"OH trust me! That would be a bad idea! Beware has way more patients than Machamp. If that were Machamp up there, Katskui would either be dead or paralyzed from the waist down.", Gar told her with a dead serious tone!
Meanwhile on the stage, Bakugou was catching his lost breath and was finally able to speak in raspy hiccups, which he used to curse the Pokémon. "You….damn…..bastard…", he nearly managed to get out and cursed Beware, who looked behind herself and showed the vicious glint in her eyes. He then looked to the side and saw Todoroki standing on a slightly lowered platform. With anger and air rising into him, he tightened his fists and said, "Icy hot…..you…..FUCKING ASSHOLE!"
Bakugou prepared to charge and attack Todoroki, but Beware was far quicker! Before one could blink, the Pokémon was behind him and slammed both her paws on his ear, causing his bells to ring and make him flinch! The Pokémon then scooped him up in a back hold and held him up like a dead weight fish.
"Good Beware! Just like that!", Gar told the Pokémon with a rewarding tone.
Bakugou quickly regained his center and shook off the ringing in his ears as he pathetically tried to break free and continue his attack! "Let me go! Let me GO! I'll kill that mother fucker! I'll do it! I swear!", Bakugou yelled while keeping his eyes on Todoroki.
"Geeze, what the heck is going on with Bakugou? He's even more feral than usual.", Kaminair asked.
"I heard he's been like that since he woke up. Had to be restrained by several pokemon. I even heard Nezu suggested using chains.", Kirishima told him.
"What? Like some wild animal?", Sero asked concerned.
"Do you see a reason not to come to such a concussion?", Kaminair motioned to Bakugou still trying to squirm free and shouting slanders and threats at the still-faced teen.
Sero sweat dropped and replied, "Good point…...I guess."
"AH. WELL THEN…...LET'S CONTINUE SHALL WE.", All Might exclaimed as he took each medal and placed it around the necks of the winners, gave them words of encouragement and hugged them. Though he kept the fourth place medal as Iida didn't show up….which was out of character for him.
When he finally reached first place he sweat dropped at the raging Bakugou in Bewear's arms, who was raging considerably less due to the Pokémon squeezing him so hard! Finally working the nerve he asked, "AH, UM, BE HAIR."
"Beware!", Gar corrected him from the crowd!
Fixing his mispronunciation he continued on saying, "BEWARE. WOULD YOU MIND LETTING UP ON YOUNG BAKUGOU A BIT? THIS DOES SEEM A BIT EXCESSIVE."
Beware looked at Gar, who nodded in agreement, and the Pokémon loosened its hold on Bakugou's diaphragm and rib cage. All Might was about to place the medal around the teens neck when he snapped at him.
"All Might.", he stared in a low tone while looking down. "Get that shit away from me! I DON'T WANT IT!", he yelled at the hero with the phrase angry practically written on his face.
"OH COME NOW. YOU'VE DESERVED IT. SO LET ME JUST-.", All Might tried to reassure him while attempting to place the medal on him.
But Bakugou resisted, flailing about and shouting at him. "NO! NO! I SAID NO! FUCK OFF! I DIDN'T EARN IT!", he yelled while trying to move his head as All Might pitifully tried to place it on him.
At this point, Gar was fed up with this circus sideshow, and shouted at the still squirming teen, "Oh for the love of-JUST TAKE THE DAMN MEDAL YOU LITTLE TRUBISH! YOU WON FAIR AND SQUARE! IT DON'T MATTER HOW YOU WON, JUST THAT YOU DID! NOW STOP BEING A BABY AND LETS GET ON WITH IT!", this made Beware squeeze Bakugou sharply, causing him to stop just long enough for All Might to get the medal on him! Unfortunately Bakugou moved at the last second and managed to catch it on his nose. All Might, getting fed up with this, pulled down sharp and forced the ribbon into his mouth and in between his teeth like the bit of a horse bridle.
Gar sighed exasperated at this and said in a small tone, "geeze! For the love of Arceus, why does he have to be such a little girl about this."
"I HEARD THAT PURPLE FUCKER!", Bakugou yelled at him!
Gar wondered how Bakugou heard him when he was talking so low, and then realized his mic was on. "Oh wait. Was this thing still on? Oops.", he says while turning it off, getting more than a few chuckles from onlookers and students around him.
"Smooth move there.", Sero teases him.
"Oh shut up.", Gar retorts.
"Bakugou, tch. How pathic.", Jiro shakes her head.
Once he's sure the medal won't come out, All Might turns back to the crowd and bellows, "LET'S GIVE ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR ALL OF OUR WINNERS!", the crowd practically deffens the group of students with their echoing roar of appreciation and gusto!
Once the crowd's cheers were down two more manageable levels, he waved his hand for them to shimmer down and said, "AND NOW! A LITTLE SOMETHING SPECIAL AND DIFFERENT FOR ALL YOU FOLKS AT HOME!", the crowds mutter and whisper amongst themselves in confusion, along with the entire cast of young heroes watching. All Nights waits for them to slow their curious chatter, and continues saying, "WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, I'LL LET YOUNG GARFIELD TAKE THE STAGE!"
Gar pushed forward through the sea of young and confused teens, to the stage where All Might stood and jumped up to the top where he turned his mic back on.
"GOOD AFTERNOON LADIES AND GENTLE-MON!", he called out to the crowds of people, who all cheered and whistled in joy of the older teen with Mimikyu sitting on his shoulder. Once they died down he continued on, saying, "Now I bet you all wonder 'what's all this about? Isn't the Sports Festival over?', well yes and no. Yes, the main festival for the whole 'students fight each other in a deathmatch' thing is over, but now we have a little something extra special for all oh you here and at home!", everyone in the crowds murmured in excitement and anticipation while everyone of these students all murmured in anxiety and anticipation. Once everyone settled down he continued on.
Gar smiles at their reactions and says with equal excitement between him and Mimikyu, "That's right. For the first, and possibly last, time in the history of UA's Sports Festival, I will be personally heading off and conducting a live Pokemon battle between this year's Festival winners!"
