Chapter 47

"Ok, now what color are you most feeling? Neon green or ocean blue?" Jacob laughed when Akilah showed him two different pairs of swim trunks before giving him a suggestive look with her eyebrows. "Ooh, what about flamingos?" She pulled off a pair of light yellow trunks from the rack sprinkled with little pink flamingos on it.

"I think I'll stick with the black, thanks." He told her, dropping the pair in his hand in the shopping cart they were using before pushing the cart out of the aisle and towards the checkout counter. While in line, Akilah randomly started to laugh under her breath making Jacob look at her in confusion. "What is it?" He whispered, knowing she would be able to hear him.

"You see that girl behind us? The one who looks 22 with a kid on her hip?" She asks him. Jacob turns around discreetly and sees a woman older than him looking him up and down appreciatively. He cringed before looking away and giving Akilah a creeped-out expression. "She's thinking of ways to get you to go home with her."

"That's disturbing," he muttered. Akilah laughs again before paying for the stuff they got and leading him out the doors. When they were finished shopping, they piled into Akilah's red 2004 Kia soul and towards the water park a few blocks away.

"So, what do you fancy?" Akilah asks parking in the parking lot of the water park. "I see a wave pool, some rides, ooh, and some ice cream carts."

Jacob chuckled before covering his face and getting out of the car. Akilah does the same and asks, "What's so funny?"

"Your accent is just phenomenal." He tells her, grabbing her bag and walking with her to the entrance of the park. "I wish I had an accent."

"You do have an accent. An American one." Jacob rolled his eyes.

"It's not as cool as yours." Akilah laughed again when paying for their tickets and dragging Jacob to a locker she bought before placing her bag in it and taking out a bottle of sunscreen.

"Could you put this on my back?" She asked, taking off her shirt and revealing her deep purple bikini top. He nodded before squirting some sunscreen in his hand and starting to run it on her shoulders.

He had never seen Anabelle in a bikini before, he realized. Or any sort of bathing suit for that matter. Was that weird? He had seen other girls in bikinis, but not his imprint? He left at the beginning of what Forks would call 'transition summer.' June was a month of 50 percent chances of sunshine or complete rain all day.

"Gee, most girls would be crushed knowing the guy rubbing sunscreen on them was thinking about another girl." Akilah jokes.

Jacob immediately took his hands off her back and blushed a deep crimson. "Uh.. sorry. I was just- sorry."

"It's fine." She assured him. "She's been on your mind a lot. It's ok to miss her. She's your mate."

"I know. But I just can't help but think that she doesn't miss me. That's she's just moving on with her life and not waiting for me as I hope. She didn't even want me to leave in the first place and I did. I just-"

"She does miss you, believe me." Akilah interrupted. "From what I've seen, from your connection with her, she misses you. A lot."

"Yeah." Jacob replied. "I hope so."

Anabelle squealed when Seth grabbed her legs and hauled her body over his shoulder, running at full speed towards the end of the beach. Anabelle laughed, waving the football in her hands in a vertical direction. When Seth deposited her on the ground, Anabelle screamed, "TOUCHDOWN SUCKERS!" She then threw the football on the ground before thrusting her hips on the sand, her interpretation of Paul doing his victory dance.

"Nuh-uh. You have to run your chubby little ass to the end of the beach to score, missy. That's how it works."

Anabelle rolled her eyes. "Whatever Paul, you're just a sore loser." She says, smacking his hand away from the bowl of chips he was aiming to grab at. She then showed him the tongs that were sitting next to the bowl and poured some on her plate. "There are germs everywhere." She told him, handing him the tongs and walking to the pit to get a burger and hotdog.

When she makes her plate, she walks back to the logs and sits next to Seth, who was anxiously tapping his foot. "Hey, what's wrong?" She asks.

"I'm going to tell them." He replies. "Today. Right now."

"About Ethan?" She asks, making Seth nod. "Yay. That's so exciting!" She replies, making sure she whispered it. She gave him a reassuring smile before taking a bite of her burger and waiting for the rest of the pack to sit down.

Once everyone is seated, Sam asks, "So Belle, how did you do on that English project? You made a children's book right?"

"Yeah, I sent it to my teacher so it can be printed. She said that it was really good and creative." She replied.

"It was about a cat right?" Jared asked.

"Yeah. The cat with a cookie thing you showed us right?" Quil interrupted.

"Yup. That's the one. She said she'll pick the best one at the end of the summer and whoever gets picked will read it to the kindergarten class when school starts."

"That's amazing." Emily noted.

"How was the rest of y'all's week?" She looked over at Seth, giving him an encouraging smile, letting him know that it was ok to tell the pack.

"I have something to say." Seth spoke up, "I have to tell all of you something. Important. And Belle was the one who pushed me to tell you guys so...here goes." Seth took a deep breath before quickly muttering, "I'm gay."

The silence was daunting, both Seth and Anabelle were holding their breath, waiting for a reaction. Paul reacted first. "Well, more chicks for me." Seth let out his breath while the others laughed, knowing he would say something like that.

"Thanks for telling us, bro. That couldn't have been easy." Quil added.

"Yeah, we're glad you told us, man." Jared continued.

"Yeah, and like Paul said, more chicks for us." Embry interrupted, making everyone laugh once more.

"There is something else, though." Seth continues. "And I don't know how you guys will react." This makes everyone, including Emily and Sam perk up. "I uh- I imprinted… on a guy…" He then shakes his head. You would imprint on a guy, Seth. He thought. "and his name is Ethan."

"Ethan. What a lovely name." Emily replies. "How old is he? Is he in school?"

"He's an incoming senior at Forks and he's 17."

"Have you talked to him? When did this happen"? Embry asked. Sam was silent, his face conveying the many questions he had.

"It happened when we went to that party a few weeks ago." He started, "I was dancing with Belle when Ethan asked to cut in and dance with her. That's when it happened, and then I left so they could dance."

"Wait." Leah interrupted, "So is he not gay?"

"No, he is," Anabelle assured her, "He told me that he wanted to ask Seth but didn't know if Seth was comfortable with that. So he went against that and asked me."

"How do you know you imprinted?" Sam asked.

"What do you mean 'How do you know?' Sam?" Anabelle rebutted. "If he says he imprinted, it means he imprinted."

"I don't want to seem disrespectful, you know that Belle. But the whole reason for imprinting is so the next generation of wolves can be strong enough to defeat cold ones who trespass on our lands."

"That's just a theory," Anabelle replied. "And now you know that theory is false. If Seth said he imprinted, he imprinted." Everyone could sense the change of tone and all desperately wanted it to stop. Sam locked his jaw, not wanting to let his anger get the best of him. Seeing this, Paul pulled Anabelle to stand.

"Let's get the speaker from the truck, we're going to stay here till dark." Anabelle let him lead her away, giving Sam one last look of anger.

"Are you sure this will be fun?" Akilah asks, tightening her grip on the river tube in her hands.

"Trust me on this," Jacob replied before stepping forward in line when it moved. He saw Akilah give an uneasy expression before it turned sour, turning towards two girls looking at Jacob very obviously. "What's wrong?"

"Sometimes I hate that I can read minds. Those girls have very vivid imaginations." She visibly shudders, making Jacob turn around to look at two teenage girls giggling and looking at him. He quickly turns away before pulling down his white muscle shirt, leaving no skin on his stomach visible.

"What are they thinking?" He asks Akilah.

"Same as all the other girls who look at you wherever we go."

"What? Girls don't look at me wherever I go." Jacob insists.

"Yes, they do. You just haven't seen it." She answers. "It's your mate. She's blocking out everyone else. When you are with her and people are looking at you, you don't see it. Because you see her."

"That makes sense. Although I do see the guys who are always looking at her. Someone always does. How could they not? She's the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen."

"You love her." Akilah teased him causing Jacob to playfully push her towards the entrance to the water ride.

"Yeah yeah." He said, placing his tube in the water before jumping into it and splashing Akilah who was still standing on the platform. "Come on scaredy-cat. You'll be fine."

Akilah begrudgingly steps into the water and, with the help of a lifeguard, sits in her tube before they are both pushed down the little river of water. "See? This isn't so bad." He teases, seeing that Akilah was floating backward and couldn't see ahead of her.

"No, I suppose naaaaahhhhh!" Akilah screamed at the top of her lungs when she suddenly dropped down the waterslide and spun around, water splashing her as she went. Jacob laughed before screaming himself when he slid down the circle-shaped slide and splashed into an already drenched Akilah.

"Why didn't you tell me that was coming!?" Akilah shrieked.

"Because I knew your reaction would be priceless." He laughed before they slid down into some waves, making Jacob relax and lean his head back. Both he and Akilah stayed quiet throughout the ride, only crying out in laughter if more waves came.

It wasn't until the end of the ride where Akilah looked worried, causing Jacob to ask, "What's wrong?"

"That. Is what's wrong." Jacob turned his tube a little before seeing what she was referring to. A steep slide was ahead, with little ledges running along with it, causing the rider to jump and lurch forward on the way down.

"That looks like fun," he notes. "Just relax." Akilah tries to relax, watching as a lifeguard reels Jacob towards her before pushing him down the slide. He lets out a scream before laughing, the air rushing towards him. "Oh my god, this is amazing!" A few seconds later, he lands in the pool of water, flipping over and falling out of his tube.

He quickly stands, shaking the water out of his face. "Your turn Akilah!" he yells, before standing back and leaning on the railing. Akilah looks to the lifeguard and nods before she pushes her off and down the slide. Air rushing towards her, running through her hair and making her squeal in surprise. She continues down the slide, laughing before she splashes into the small pool of water.

"That was awesome." She exclaimed.

"I don't want to say it," Jacob said, "but, I told you so."

Akilah chuckled, "Yes, you did. Come on, let's get something to eat. You're going to need to fill up because," she paused before raising an eyebrow. "You're going home tomorrow."
