The firefight intensified in the target interior. Cap blocked many more rounds and pressed the fight forward. The idf raiders were right behind him and as he went out from there they spread out to provide support fire. He stayed in cover for the moment to better let the idf hitters push up on the Shia fanatics. The tactic worked well enough. The raiders flanked out to cap's sides and fired into them. The idf had the better hitters by far; but had noticed a substantial tactical change. The baddies here had better weapons. Iran was definitely supplying the Shia fanatics here; but there was no doubt they were supplying the Sunni variants as well. The weapons were good; but the training was only moderate. And even within that experience was something else. Experience applying advanced combat training. And it was safe to say they didn't have that or anything else for that matter.
Cap smashed a few more down. He kept his shield with him for the intense close quarter combat. With the idf hitters he had range coverage nearly assured.
The assault pushed deeper into the baddie interior. Cap sensed the other baddie hitters incoming. They were being reinforced from adjacent structures. Reaching out with his power cap detected the tunnels they'd built between the buildings to connect them. Clever and it had worked to date.
Cap remained at the center of the assault formation. So far so good. He'd fought with the idf before. They were a superior fighting force. He didn't have to do much to lead. Definitely not give orders or anything like that. They were self leading. Such a force only needed minor nudges here and there for different reasons. And cap's tac sense didn't indicate that was needed.
Still, urban combat was like a traditional battlefield with its own changing dynamics. This assault was little different. The goal was to win in any case; and winning here was killing the enemy in its entirety and getting wherever intel could be taken. The weapons alone were worth a lot. And once cap had a better idea behind all those things the rest would fall into place.
Outside the support birds were engaging the surface baddie reinforcements as they made way for the target interior to engage cap and his main force. They were doing good at cutting them down. This thinning would make cap's job that much easier.
Cap blocked more rounds and kept bashing them down. He saw the many weapon crates that contained much of the Shia baddie firepower here. This was a goldmine of evidence. And cap would seek to preserve it for further forensic analysis.
Friendly casualties remained light. They were doing good so far.
Then it hit cap's senses: a baddie was going for a bomb. Cap locked his senses onto that particular baddie and pushed in for him. The raiders moved quick with him. They could tell something was up by cap's sudden movement changes. Cap kept his shield for now. He beat down a few more. He was getting closer. Cap's senses now alerted him to the bomber baddie's intent: to blow up everything around them. With them still inside. Kill the evidence and the heroes at the same time. Tidy and effective.
Cap kept his shield ready for a possible range strike. It just depended on how the fight went. He kicked down a few more and increased his speed. The bomber was nearly ready.
Cap bashed away a few more Shia baddies before reaching the target room. The idf had him covered. The bomber spun. Cap threw his shield with angelic strength and speed. The magical laconian projectile disc flew across the air like a bullet and severed the baddie's head from his neck. Baddie Head and body fell in opposite directions.
Cap's shield flew back to his arm; covered partly in baddie gore. Islam is pure evil; and I hate Islam and always will. Cap "hated" anything/anyone that was against freedom. That wasn't debate or opinion; that was absolute tactical certainty. If any hated cap for that they were more than willing to bring it on. Anytime; anywhere. The archangel superhero would be ready for them.
The idf entered the same room saw the evidence of what had transpired and worked to secure it. This target was almost theirs.
