8:40 AM
She was half way done with her fish when she noticed that he was not eating.
"Are you not hungry?" She asked.
"Starving." He answered, eyes half lidded.
"Why are you not eating then?" She wondered, pointing to his untouched food.
"I am waiting." He replied.
She finished eating her fish and put the stick down on the wooden plate and started eating a few berries.
"What are you waiting for?" She asked.
"You." His eyes had not left her person.
"Me?" She asked dumbfounded. Was that some sort of custom?
"Yes, I presumed you wished to be full before I got my fill of you...but if that is not the case, I will be more than happy to eat you out now." Was his sultry remark.
Kagome gulped audibly and blushed profusely at the thought of him doing that to her again, but she kept her composure for the most part and brushed it aside...for now.
"You know what I meant, you sly dog." She teased instead.
He laughed at that and proceeded to eat his fish, while she finished her berries.
The sound of his laughter really did a number on her. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach flying around every time he laughed, chuckled, or even just smiled at her. It was such a pleasant sound. She had been worried when he first walked in and stopped when he saw her.
She had been convinced that he would not mind, but his shocked look made her think twice about that and about how she had previously thought about making it up to him. She was certain that this would be her last offence before he threw her out the door. But thankfully, the shock had passed and he truly did not seem bothered by her wearing the fur now. In fact, he seemed a little pleased. Surely he would have asked her to remove it if he did not want it on her. She made sure to keep herself clean, the fur was an immaculate white and she would hate to ruin it with the colorful berries. How it did not have the stains of blood she had seen spill on it before, was beyond her.
The fur was so comfortable to wear she kept looking down to make sure it was still there. At times she could swear she felt its pulse, like a heart, but that was just silly. Then again, she'd never heard of a fur that moved on its own either. She mentally shrugged it off, she would just ask Sesshoumaru about it later.
She finished the berries and looked up to see that he had already finished his food and was in the process of cleaning up after them.
'Wow...breakfast in bed and he picks up afterwards? Is this guy for real?' She had never noticed how attentive Sesshoumaru could be. She could almost see how he would treat Rin in private too. His selection of food as well as the great taste made her absolutely certain that this was not the first time he had to feed a human.
"Thank you for the meal." She said aloud. "It was very good, do you often cook for Rin?" She ventured. She was a little hesitant to bring her up, partially because it was none of her business and she felt as though she was straying into forbidden territory, and partially because she did not think he would answer.
"Jaken is not well versed in human needs, and Rin was much too small to fend for herself." She thought he was finished talking but surprisingly he continued. "At first, she would eat only the vegetation we could gather, or the food we could buy." He walked back to her, after having disposed of their breakfast and sat down next to her, his eyes seemingly far away. "It was not until the winter, when she became ...ill...that I prepared a meal for her." He frowned and she could instantly see the pain and hurt in his eyes at the memory of the little girl in pain. She wanted to touch him, but he felt a million miles away. His eyes were now downcast, but still he continued. "A winter storm had prevented us from going back to the fortress, she had already been feeling ill and by the time her sickness had climaxed we were buried under snow in this very cave. I was able to go out and look for food, but there was no vegetation, and no shops open in the marketplace."
She listened intently, wondering what had been running through his mind as he watched his little girl suffer from something he could not simply beat up or destroy. Kagome frowned. That isn't all is it… It's not just the thought of not being able to cure her sickness...no. It's the reality that he can do nothing to cure her of her real ailment. Her humanity. He must have realized then, just how vulnerable and exposed to weaknesses humans were. She almost cried as her heart broke for him. She reached out this time, touching his knee and giving him a little bit of moral support.
"After catching a couple rabbits I brought them back and prepared them for her." He smiled a little. "I am sure that the meat was burned beyond salvation, but she smiled and ate it anyway, saying it was delicious." His hand enclosed her own and he gave it a squeeze. "She stayed sick for 8 more days, falling in and out of consciousness. It was a struggle to keep her fed and hydrated, especially when she would throw up." Their fingers intermingled as he continued. "She is strong though, and she knows better than to oppose my command." Kagome smiled at that, imagining Sesshoumaru as he commanded she be stronger than her illness and get better. She almost laughed at the thought of him staring down at the virus that had seized her body and it running scared. "I did have to make a compromise though." He said.
"A compromise?" She asked when he paused.
"Yes." He smiled fully. "The day before her fever broke I made her a promise."
"What was the promise?" Kagome asked.
"I told her, 'If you defeat this illness now, I will grant you one wish.'"
"Like a fairy godmother?" Kagome chuckled.
Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow, not understanding the question. "A fairy godmother?"
"Someone who makes your wishes or dreams come true." She elaborated. "Normally it is a bedtime story or a fairy tail, folklore, if you will."
"I see." He allowed.
"So… did she wish for you to always cook for her when she got better?" She asked.
Again, Sesshoumaru gave her another smile. "No. She did not."
"Then...how did you end up cooking for her?" Kagome was a little confused, she thought this was how Rin had gotten him to cook for her.
"When she got better," He continued, "I brought her some more food, the storm had not yet fully passed, so I was still making her meals. She was almost done with her second helping when she brought up the promise I made." His thumb took to rubbing the side of her hand. "She said to me. 'Lord Sesshoumaru, I remember you said if Rin defeated the sickness she could get a wish.' I nodded at her and asked her what she wished. She replied, 'Rin wishes for Lord Sesshoumaru to be a better cook.' as she swallowed the last bite of her rabbit leg."
Kagomes' eyes went wide with surprise, and she could not help the full-on laughter that bubbled from deep within her chest. Sesshoumaru simply stared at her, smiling a toothy grin.
Kagome talked between breaths. "She wished for you to be a better cook?! That is priceless!" Her laughter died down, but she couldn't help the snickers that came out of her every once in a while when she thought about the cute little girl taking down the almighty LORD Sesshoumaru down a few pegs.
"Indeed." He gave her hand another squeeze, probably meant to reprimand her for laughing at his expense, but she didn't care. It was funny. "It was the first time in years someone had not only called to question my abilities, but also left me feeling so… low. Since that day, I prepared food for her, all the while honing my skills. I would not have her say that I did not keep my promise, or that I was not up to par in any way."
Kagome giggled softly at him. "Well, as a human who has had many years of eating experience, I think I can safely say that you, Lord Sesshoumaru, are a great cook." She looked into his eyes, allowing her mirth to shine as well as her honesty. He really was a great cook after all.
He puffed out his chest confidently, "Rin thinks so too." He finished.
They stared into each other's eyes, the moments sweetness hanging in the air. "How do you do it?" She said breaking the silence.
Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow. "Do what?" He replied.
"How do you give off such a cold aura when you can laugh like that?" She answered.
His eyes narrowed slightly. Kagome began to feel as though she had probably crossed the line. She was about to back peddle but as she opened his mouth, so did he.
"The better question would be, 'How can I laugh when I am so cold inside?'" He made a move to stand but she stopped him by putting her hand on his cheek.
"You are not cold." Her hand caressed his cheek and traced the lines of his markings. "See?" Her tone changed, became sultrier and a little lower. "You are warm. Very warm."
He leaned into the touch again. "I haven't felt warm in years." He admitted. His eyes seemed to glaze over as he thought about his past.
She looked up at him and rose to her knees in order to stare straight into his eyes. Her hands cupped his face and she kept him looking at her, her face a mere few inches away from his, her eyes glaring at him with the intensity of a hurricane. "You are warm." She repeated. "Here," She kissed his cheek, the warmth of her own lips seeping into him. She looked up at him again, and seeing no resistance, she started to remove his kimono. It slipped past his shoulders and pooled beside him. She grabbed onto his shoulders and he grabbed her waist, supporting her as she moved to straddle his lap. She kissed his jaw and he closed his eyes, her hands wound down to his chest, and her kisses trailed along his neck.
His head rested gently against her shoulder and she felt the thumping of his heart beneath her hand. She kissed her way down to the center of his chest, kissing where his heart beat. "Here." She said breathily. He lifted his head to claim her lips and she submitted to him instantly. His hands grabbed at her waist, intent on bringing her closer. The soft fur parted where his hands touched, giving him full access to her smooth skin, all the while keeping her enclosed in its luxurious warmth. Her hands continued to trail down, his muscles jumping as she grazed her fingers over them. She kept one hand pressed against his abdomen, the other jumped down to caress his thigh.
He bit her lip and growled approvingly, she simply moaned against him. Her hand made its way up his thigh and through his clothes she grabbed him and started to stroke his already hardened member. She separated from his lips only long enough to whisper into his ear, "And here." He growled again, though this time it sounded more like a pleasured groan. His head fell to her shoulder again as she continued to pump him through the satiny material of his hakama. She quickened her movements and she could feel as his fingers dug into the sides of her hips. His breathy moans had her soaring with confidence. Having Sesshoumaru, the strongest demon she knew, panting at her fingertips, brought about its own ecstasy in her. She moaned out his name as he continued to revel at her hand. She squeezed him, from base to tip in a combination of slow and quick movements. He buckled against her and she could feel his end was nearing. She nudged his head up and kissed his lips, her hands never ceasing. He kissed her hungrily, and with a few more tugs, she had him cumming in her hands.
His breathing was labored, as he rested his forehead against hers. She kissed him softly, her hands still gently milking the last few drops out. He growled impatiently and she looked up at him, smiling. His hakama were effectively ruined now and she brought up her hand, to see that it was covered in his seed. Curiosity got the better of her, and before she could even think, her tongue went out to lick his essence off her finger.
