Ashes to ashes, dust to dust - even the best-laid plans can go bust, so much for keeping secrets. The cat's out of the bag, and Parkinson's family is getting just a little bit bigger!

Daphne stared at the piece of parchment in her hand with a furrowed brow. "Vague much?" she mumbled, crumbling the plane up in her hand and tossing it in the common room fire. She glanced at the staircase to the dorms out of the corner of her eye. Someone needed to talk to Pansy, and even though Daphne had enough of her own drama to deal with, she knew Pansy needed a friend right now.
Taking a deep breath, Daphne made her way up the stairs to Pansy's dorm. The door was open a crack, and Daphne took that as the a-okay to enter. She noticed Pansy lying on her bed with the pillow over her head. Daphne shook her head with a laugh as she pushed the door closed behind her before joining Pansy on the bed.
"I think you need to apply a little more pressure if you plan on using that to suffocate yourself," Daphne teased, leaning back against the headboard. She glanced down at Pansy and laughed when she heard a few mumbled curses being muffled by the pillow. "Hexes usually work better when they can be heard."
With a huff, Pansy pulled the pillow off her face and threw it at Daphne. She rolled her eyes and propped herself up on her side, glaring at Daphne. "What are you doing in here, Greengrass?"
"The door was open, so I thought I'd drop by," Daphne replied, shrugging her shoulders as she slumped down to lay beside Pansy. "Why are you hiding in here?"
"I'm sure you've seen the Gossip Witch blast by now," Pansy sighed, pinching her eyes shut for a moment. "I'm avoiding the inevitable questions that her vagueness has brought on."
"Like, who's the daddy?" Daphne teased, playfully shoving Pansy's shoulder. She chuckled at Pansy's glare and shook her head. "You know hiding is only going to make the rumors spread even faster."
Pansy rolled her eyes. "So you jumped to that assumption, too. Great."
Daphne furrowed her brow as she gave Pansy a once-over. Her body didn't look like she showed any signs of pregnancy, but that could be because it's still early. But that didn't explain why Gossip Witch would spark that rumor if she didn't have any proof. Sitting straight up on the bed, Daphne grabbed Pansy's shoulders to force her to sit up.
"What are you doing?" Pansy groaned, reluctantly crossing her legs as she leaned back against the headboard. She glared at the witch sitting beside her as she waited for an answer.
"Based on your bitchy demeanor, my assumption is wrong. So how about you put the bitch away and tell me what's going on so we can set Gossip Witch straight and shut down the rest of the rumors that are bound to be flying around? I mean hell, you've been spotted flirting with half the Gryffindor Quidditch team and threatening the Gryffindor Princess," Daphne insisted, nudging Pansy with her shoulder. "Your reputation requires some major damage control right now. Let me help."
Pansy stared at her for a few moments and thought about what Daphne said. Of course, Daphne was right. That was one of her flaws. She always seemed to be right about everything, and even when she was wrong, Daphne found a way to fight for her point to be right. Pansy rested her head against the headboard and let out a long sigh. "You know I hate you, right?" Pansy laughed, glancing at Daphne out of the corner of her eye.
"Hated by many but loved by all for my honesty," Daphne laughed, flashing a smile at Pansy. "So pregnant, yes or no? If yes, who is the lucky wizard? If no, what the hell is going on?"
"Swear to Merlin you aren't going to use this information the next time Gossip Witch puts you on blast," Pansy said, offering a pinky to Daphne with a smirk on her face.
Daphne looked at Pansy pinky and laughed, offering her own pinky as the two squeezed each other's pinky. "I thought you didn't believe in muggle promises."
"There's a first time for everything," Pansy laughed, shaking her head. After the laughter died down, Pansy took a deep breath and turned to Daphne, her eyes focused intently on Daphne's eyes. "I'm not pregnant."
"Thank Merlin," Daphne said with a sigh of relief.
"But my family is getting bigger," Pansy continued, rubbing the palms of her hands against her thigh. "My mom is getting remarried."
"To who?" Daphne asked, raising a brow in curiosity.
"Adrian Pucey's dad," Pansy admitted.
