"Start talking Roman. What did you mean when you said I set this into motion?" Alex asked. "By now I'm sure you know the story of how every 5000 years the battle between the Earthbound Immortals and the Crimson Dragon happens again," Roman said. "I know that, but I get the feeling there's something I don't know," Alex responded.

"Do you know how the Earthbound Immortals came into existence?" Roman asked. "Search me," Alex responded. "They came to be because of you Alex," Roman said. "What?!" Yusei exclaimed. "What are you talking about? How could I be responsible?" Alex asked. "The answer to that question lies in your first life," Roman said. "My first life?" Alex asked. "Indeed. You see your ancestor, and your father's past life, the original Supreme King, had a son," Roman explained. "You mean that?" Alex asked. "Yes. Like your father, you also are a reincarnated being," Roman said.

"But then how do the Earthbound Immortals tie in to this?" Alex asked. "You see, when you were no more than a child, your parents had passed away of some unknown illness, leaving you the only heir to the throne and the ruler of the kingdom," Roman said. "That must've been terrible," Leo said. "Soon, the news of the king and queen's death had spread to a neighboring kingdom. They thought that with a mere child on the throne, it would be simple to overthrow the kingdom," Roman said. "But no army was a match for the Evil Heroes," Alex responded. "While that may have been the case, you were not able to fully tap into their power yet," Roman said.

"So what happened?" Alex asked. "The war continued and just when all hope for your people seemed lost, you made a deal," Roman said. "A deal with whom?" Alex asked. "The King of the Netherworld. You had heard stories of the power he had and thought he could help you save your kingdom. You made a deal. He would give you an army like the world had never seen, and in return you would do anything he asked," Roman said.

"Wait, the army he gave the prince. It was?" Alex began to ask. "Yes, the Earthbound Immortals. With their power, the war swiftly ended, but when the time came for you to uphold your end of the deal, you were horrified by what had been asked of you," Roman said. "I can't imagine anyone would be comfortable with helping destroy the world," Alex responded.

"You betrayed the King of the Netherworld and allied with the Crimson Dragon, sealing the Earthbound Immortals and the King of the Netherworld away, but not before they left a curse on you," Roman said. "What kind of curse?" Alex asked. "Every time the war would begin anew, you would be reborn to fulfill your end of the deal with the King of the Netherworld. As long as you exist in this world, so will the Earthbound Immortals," Roman said. "No, that can't be true," Alex said.

"Alex don't listen to him!" Yusei shouted. Alex turned to face him. "Alex, even if what he says is true, you're not responsible for this. You're trying to save the world. You're a good person Alex, and I'm proud to call you my friend," Yusei said. "He's right Alex. We all care about you, and no matter what, we'll always be here for you," Luna added.

"You guys," Alex said as he shed a few tears. "How very touching. Let's see if you feel the same way once Alex becomes a Dark Signer and ushers in a new age of darkness, now Uru, attack directly!" Roman shouted. "I activate the effect of Transaction Rollback in my graveyard. By banishing it and paying half my life points, can use the effect of a normal trap in my graveyard, like my Hallowed Life Barrier," Alex said as a barrier appeared in front of him.

"You're a stubborn one I'll admit. I set a card face-down and end my turn," Roman said. This might be my last chance to turn this duel around. If I want to win, I have to draw the right card. You guys have never let me down when I needed you before, and I know you're not about to start on me now, Alex thought as he prepared to draw his card. "I draw," he said before looking at it. "It came Roman," Alex said. "What did?" the Dark Signer asked. "The card that will allow me to win. From my hand I play the Dark Fusion spell card to merge Evil HERO Stone Guardian and Evil HERO Voltage in order to summon my Evil HERO Lightning Golem!" Alex shouted.

"Impossible!" Roman shouted. "And as I'm sure you remember from our last duel, due to his special ability, I can destroy one monster on the field every turn. Go Lightning Golem, destroy Uru!" Alex shouted. His monster hurled a sphere of black electricity at Uru, destroying it. "Alright, with Uru gone, Roman's trap card can't stop Alex from attacking!" Leo shouted.

"Maybe Roar of the Earthbound can't, but Gravity Bind can! With this trap in play, level 4 and higher monsters can't attack!" Roman shouted as he revealed his face-down card. "No!" Alex shouted. "He was so close," Trudge said. I can't believe it, I finally got rid of Uru only for another problem to pop up. And I don't have anything in my hand that can destroy his Gravity Bind, Alex thought to himself as he looked at his hand before his eyes landed on a certain card.

Wait, if I play this, then I can win, but that would mean, Alex thought to himself, unsure if it was worth the risk. "What? Out of options?" Roman asked. "I guess I have no choice. I activate the spell Monster Reborn!" Alex shouted. "And just what do you hope to gain from that? None of the monsters in your graveyard can help you right now," Roman said.

"Maybe not the monsters in my graveyard," Alex said. "What is Alex talking about?" Leo asked. "Monster Reborn lets you summon a monster from either player's graveyard," Luna explained. "But the only monsters in Roman's graveyard are his Dark Spiders and," Leo began to say before he realized what Alex was going to do. "I summon Earthbound Immortal Uru from your graveyard!" Alex shouted. "What?!" Roman exclaimed as his monster appeared on Alex's field. "Like you said, Uru isn't affected by its opponent's spells and traps while there's a field spell, meaning Gravity Bind won't affect him," Alex said.

"Now Uru, attack Roman directly!" Alex shouted. Uru launched his attack on Roman, bringing him to his knees.

"I won," Alex said as he panted for breath. "You may have defeated me, but unless you seal the other two control units, you will still lose this war," Roman said before he dissolved. After he disappeared, purple mist began to seep out of the ground under Alex, causing him to flail around and scream in pain. You will uphold your end of the deal, a voice said. "Alex!" Luna shouted as she ran down to him. "Stay back!" he managed to shout. No! I won't help you destroy the world, Alex told the voice. Alex yelled out before he unleashed a wave of darkness, sweeping the mist away before he collapsed. "Alex!" Luna shouted as she ran over to him. "Alex, please wake up!" she pleaded. Everyone ran down to them. "Alex!" Yusei shouted. "Come on, you've gotta wake up!" Leo shouted. "Come on kid, you're gonna pull through," Trudge said.
