It had been a week since the court case and everyone had been trying to get on with their lives. No one had heard from Wendy, but Jay heard from Lloyd that they had released Morro's body and she was planning a funeral for her son. Everyone was sure that not many people would turn up to Morro's funeral. As Cole pulled up outside the apartment, he noticed how it was getting warmer, meaning summer was right around the corner. He knew Jay and Nya were at the base working on a project, Zane was on a recon mission, and Skylor was meeting a real estate agent for her restaurant.
The noirette was about to enter the building when he noticed someone by Jay's car.
He walked over and was surprised to see Kai was cleaning Jay's car. He was wearing knee-length pants and a light red shirt. His bump caused the shirt to stick out, exposing the bottom of his stomach, but everyone who valued their lives didn't dare say anything.
"What's all this then?" Cole grinned as Kai dropped the sponge in the bucket, creating a big splash.
"I just thought Jay would like a clean car." He shrugged.
"I'm sure he'll love it." He promised and he gave Kai a kick peck on the cheek. "How've you been?"
"I'm doing good, just wish my back would stop hurting." He groaned as he rubbed his lower back. All of a sudden, the brunette froze and his eyes widened when he saw something over Cole's shoulder. The agent arched an eyebrow in confusion and turned around to see Misako Garmadon walking towards them. Cole's eyes narrowed when he saw her. He had only met her a couple of times at the least, mainly seeing her talking to Lloyd, but he was sure she was a nice person.
But he was also certain that she was here to put Wendy's case forward.
"Look, I know I'm probably the last person you want to see right now." She said quickly, but that didn't ease the tension between them.
"What are you doing here then?" Cole glared.
"I really need to talk to Kai, please, I just need five minutes." She pleaded and Cole turned to the brunette. All Kai had to do was say the word and he would make her leave. Instead, Kai sighed lightly and looked at her expectedly. "Honestly, I didn't know who you were." She added and both men scoffed.
"And yet here you are; showing up like your friend did when all I want is to be left alone!" Kai exclaimed and she looked away in shame.
"I don't blame you for being wary, I still can't get my head around it all either." She replied, taking a step forward, but Cole quickly blocked her path.
"If you or that best buddy of yours come anywhere near Kai again, playing your mind games, you're going to regret it." He warned angrily, and she looked genuinely worried.
"...I understand." She said after a moment and made to leave, only to look back at them. "It's just... Wendy's not like Morro."
"You still here?" Cole snapped. Misako frowned slightly before walking away. Cole seemed satisfied and was about to lead Kai inside, but before he could even blink, the brunette was chasing after her.
"Wait!" He called out and she stopped to see what he wanted. "Why did you come here?" He asked.
"I'm not entirely sure myself." She replied. "I didn't come here to harass you, you do believe that don't you?"
"It's just so weird." He admitted and she nodded in agreement. "You were his godmother, Wendy's best friend, and Lloyd's mother; this has to be the world's cruelest coincidence." He laughed bitterly at their situation.
"I'm not a big believer in coincidences." She chuckled before a solemn expression grew on her face. "I do believe you though, about Morro and what he did." She stated firmly and his eye's widened in shock. She sighed heavily before continuing. "But he's gone now, and I don't really know how to feel about this."
"You watched him grow up, you wouldn't be human if you didn't miss him." He answered for her.
"I just don't know where it went wrong for him and why he was like that." She muttered, more to herself than anything. Before either of them could say another word, Misako's bus pulled up at the stop. "Goodbye Kai, and thank you for giving me the time of day." She said before rushing to reach the bus before it drove off. Kai watched as she was driven away, wondering if he would see her again...
A few days after Misako's unexpected visit, Kai was relaxing by himself in the apartment with his feet up. His boyfriends had gone to the store and would be back soon. He had no idea where Nya and Skylor were and he didn't give a damn about the two girls he considered family at this moment of time. Nya had tried to joke with her brother, saying that Kai had swallowed a melon, and the brunette had all but thrown her out the window while sobbing a river.
As they were running out of the building, Skylor reassured her that it was probably just hormones.
Just to be safe, however, they decided it was best they stayed away for the next few hours. As he stuffed his face with pickles from a jar, the door opened and he saw Lloyd walking into the apartment. Kai briefly wondered how he got in, but shrugged it off, knowing that it wasn't really important now he was here. As soon as Lloyd saw him, his face twisted in disgust.
"Well, if it isn't the gigolo." He sneered and Kai gritted his teeth.
"What the fuck do you want Lloyd?" He demanded.
"I needed to see Jay about something, but I'll just call him later." "He replied as he suddenly started sniffing the air loudly. "I'll also tell him that there's a nasty smell of fish in his place and I've got a good idea how to get rid of it." He commented and Kai clenched the pickle jar so tightly he was sure it was crack.
"He ain't here, so piss off." He growled and turned back to the TV.
"You know, I'm surprised that Jay hasn't thrown you and that other hussy out yet." He laughed bitterly. "I mean, yeah he's a sweet guy, and Cole and Zane might fall for your sob story, but they're smart, and not that patient; if I were you and Skylor I'd start looking for somewhere else to live soon and before that sprog is born."
"WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM WITH ME?!" Kai suddenly shouted, shooting to his feet, ready for a fight, but Lloyd wasn't fazed.
"YOU'RE MY ONLY PROBLEM!" He yelled. "People like you make me sick! Whores like you are always out for what you can get from anyone who flashes so much as a little shiny penny at you and manipulate people and ruin their lives when you don't get your own way! Like you did with Morro, just like you were doing with MY mother, and just like what happened with my-" He suddenly stopped himself from finishing that sentence, looking very rattled, and glared at a confused Kai.
"What the fuck are you talking about?!"
"J-Just you wait and see, as soon as that brat starts crying for attention like its rent boy of a mother the guys will kick your ass back into the gutter, and if your really lucky someone might be desperate enough to adopt that kid!" He roared at the pregnant brunette, his face as red as a tomato. The two men just stood there glaring at each other. All of a sudden, Kai burst into tears and collapsed onto the couch, curling into a ball. This was what caught Lloyd off-guard.
He was expecting Kai to either shout some more, or at least try and argue, but not this.
He stared at the sobbing brunette for a few minutes before turning to leave. The second his gaze was off Kai, he yelled out in pain as he was suddenly hit and fell onto his back. He laid there in shock for a few seconds before placing a hand on his sore nose. He opened his eyes and gasped when he saw his hand was covered in blood. He looked up and his eyes widened when he saw Cole, Jay, and Zane glaring daggers down at him. If looks could kill then Lloyd would have died more than a dozen times.
Before he could say anything, Cole suddenly grabbed him and dragged the blond down the stairs.
He wasted no time throwing him out the building while Jay and Zane tried to calm Kai down, but it was hopeless...
