Chapter 48-Making Plans
Abraham's P.O.V
Abraham watches as Eugene tells the group where the best place is to set up the solar panels. He hears footsteps beside him and looks at JJ. "Have you thought about going to say sorry for almost killing him?" JJ asks him.
"No, I have been thinking about Monkey balls," Abraham says.
"You are weird," JJ says. "Go talk to him Abraham," Abraham walks away from the blond and walks over to Eugene, who stares at him. Abraham could see that he was tense.
"I can take my weapons off if need be," Abraham says. Eugene straightens his body up and stares at Abraham.
"There will be no need for that," Eugene says. Abraham nods as he looks at Eugene.
"I'm sorry for almost killing you," Abraham says.
"I lied to you and got people killed. It wasn't completely underserved," Eugene says. "My lies have cost people their lives because I was a coward. I should feel lucky that you didn't kill me,"
"Why did you decide to tell us then?" Abraham asks.
"Because these people were offering a safe place. I wanted to be safe, and telling you the truth was the only way to get you to go with them," Eugene says. Abraham nods.
"Do you need help?" Abraham asks as he nods to the solar panels. Eugene looks at them and nods.
"I wouldn't mind it," Eugene says. Abraham nods as he starts to help him.
Alicia's P.O.V
Alicia walks down the trail to the boathouse, walks inside, and sees John working on the boat. "You okay?" Alicia asks John, who looks at her.
"I hoped that Shane had seen something. I mean, he has been around most of Georgia. How has he not seen a thing," John says.
"How about I make a deal with you," Alicia says as she stands up straight. John looks at her. "Once this place is safe enough to leave for a little while. I'll grab a truck, and you and I will go and look for Laura for a few weeks,"
"I can't ask you to do that. You'll have to your family," John says.
"You don't need to ask. I'm offering," Alicia says. "If I was in your position John, I would stop at nothing to find her. Let me help you," Alicia says. "Come on, Cowboy,"
"If Daryl is okay with it. I'm not taking his girlfriend away from him," John says. Alicia nods with a smile.
"He'll agree," Alicia says. "Before we leave, we are taking that thing out for a spin,"
"Yes, ma'am," John says. Alicia walks up to the boat and climbs on. John looks at her and continues to work as she starts to help.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl sat on the porch after helping the best he could unload the supplies. Merle walks up to his brother and sits down. "Is there something going on with Alicia and John?" Merle asks.
"No, why?" Daryl asks.
"They just spend a lot of time together," Merle says.
"John may be a grown man, but he has this way of making people smile. He's more hopeful than anybody I have met since all this. Alicia likes that, and he is someone she can talk to that isn't Madison, Nick, or me," Daryl says. "John's a good man,"
"I didn't say he wasn't. I just wanted to make sure you were okay if they were together," Merle says.
"He loves someone already. A woman named Laura. He's looking for her," Daryl says. "I think Alicia just wants to help him," Merle nods as he sees Nick walking up to them.
"Good luck, baby brother," Merle says as he stands up and walks over to Nick.
Merle's P.O.V
Merle walks down the stairs and over to Nick, who looks at him. "Come on, kid," Merle says.
"Where are we going?" Nick asks him.
"I haven't had a nice hunt in a while," Merle tells him. "And you still need practice,"
"Can Beth come? She could use the practice too," Nick says. Merle looks at the blond. Beth was talking to Hershel. Merle had a soft spot for the blond, and maybe that was because of Jimmy, but he did.
"Go get her," Merle tells Nick, who nods as he walks away. Merle walks over to Michonne, who was setting up a tent. He walks behind her and kisses her head. Michonne looks at him and gives a small smile. "I hope that tent is for both of us,"
"Andre too," Michonne says. Merle looks at Andre, who was smiling at him. Merle sets his crossbow down and picks the boy up.
"Your mama thought I would leave you out. You are part of the package," Andre smiles as Merle kissed his head. Merle looked at Michonne. "I'm taking Nick and Beth on a hunt,"
"Okay, this should be done when you get back," Michonne says. Merle nods as he sets Andre nods. He kisses Michonne a kiss and grabs his crossbow before he walks over to Beth and Nick. He looks at Beth.
"Do you have your weapons?" He asks the blond, who nods as she shows him her gun and knife. Merle nods as he walks into the woods, followed by the other two.
Lori's P.O.V
Lori was inside, separating the food for storage, when Amy walked inside and looked at her. "You don't look happy," Amy says as she sits down by Lori.
"I'm not. I can't lift anything. I can't help with the wall. I can't kill walkers. All I'm good for now is separating food," Lori says as she slams a can down on the table. Amy stands up and walks behind Lori. She starts to rub her shoulders.
"I think you need to calm down," Amy says. Lori gives a slow nod.
"My son is more useful than me," Lori says.
"You can't do all that, but you are good for more than separating food," Amy says.
"Like what?" Lori asks.
"You're nice to look at," Amy says. Lori chuckles as she lays her hand on Amy's hand and stands up. She starts to pull Amy towards their room. "What are you doing?"
"You said I needed to calm down," Lori says before she pulls Amy into a kiss. Amy was in shock for a moment before she kissed the woman back. "Are you going to help?" Amy pulls back and pulls Lori into their room, shutting and locking the door.
Merle's P.O.V
Merle tracks a deer through the woods with Nick and Beth behind him, both of them doing their best to stay quiet. Merle stops when he hears a growl and looks at the walker eating a deer. "Son of a bitch," Merle says with anger. The walker looks up at them and lets out a loud growl. "Shut up," Merle says as he raises his crossbow and shoots it in the head. Merle walks up to the walker and pulls his bolt out of its head. He reloads his crossbow and looks at Nick. "See any other tracks?" Nick looks around and gives a slight nod.
"Looks like it may be another deer," Nick says. Merle nods as he stands up and walks over to Nick. He holds his crossbow out to Nick, who grabs it.
"You found the tracks. You track and kill it," Merle says. Nick nods as he starts to follow the tracks. Merle pulls out his knife a few minutes later when they see the deer. Nick lifts the crossbow up and aims it. He pulls the trigger, and the arrow goes following, going through the deer's heart. It crumbles to the ground. "Not bad, kid," Nick nods as he stands up. "Killing a moving target is harder,"
"I know," Nick says as he walks up to the deer. Merle motions Beth over to him.
"Show her where to shoot," Merle tells Nick, who nods as he motions Beth over. Merle looks around them as Nick talks to Beth.
Dean's P.O.V
Dean walks over to Sam, who he hasn't talked to since he's gotten back. Dean stands by him as Sam watches the kids play with the dog. "Anything out there?" Dean asks him. Sam looks over at him and shakes his head.
"No, no sign of Bobby or Adam. We didn't have a lot of time to look, but we went to plenty of towns and didn't see anything," Sam says. "Maybe they left,"
"They wouldn't leave," Dean says.
"If they thought we were dead, they might," Sam tells his brother.
"Why would they think that we aren't dead, so they didn't find our walkers," Dean says.
"They might have found, Dad," Sam says.
"That's a good thing, Sammy. That means they would have found your note which means they are on their way here," Dean says. "They're alive, Sammy. I know it,"
"You know they'll ask what happened, right?" Sam asks Dean as he looks at him. Dean nods.
"Yeah, and I'm prepared to tell them," Dean says. "Come on, we have to help," Dean tells Sam as he walks towards the others.
Merle's P.O.V
Merle, Nick, and Beth walk back towards the camp. Merle had the deer on his shoulder, Nick carried his crossbow, and Beth was in the middle. They get close and see a walker walking towards the camp. "Beth," Merle says.
"Merle, I can get it," Nick says.
"She can too. Go on, girl," Merle says. Beth nods as she walks towards the walker. She walks up behind the walker and stabs it in the back of the head. Merle walks up to her and nods. He stares at the walker and looks back at camp for a moment. "I think I know how to fix our walker problem," Merle says as they walk out of the woods towards camp.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl was at the table with Abraham, Glenn, and T-dog were drawing up plans for the rest of the wall when Merle walked inside. They look at him. "I'm surprised Shane isn't here," Merle says.
"Him and Madison and unpacking," T-dog says.
"And Alicia?" Merle asks.
"In the boat shed with John," Daryl says as Merle sits down. Merle looks at the plans.
"We are stopping at the path leading towards the beach? Why?"
"We can't build into the woods until we cut the trees down. We'll put another gate there just in case, and the beach will lead to the road if you need to get out," Daryl says. Merle nods as he grabs a pencil and draws a line sounding the wall. "What is that?"
"A trench," Merle says.
"A way to keep walkers out," Glenn says.
"Yep, this way, they won't be pressing up against the wall. We can kill them and move them," Merle says.
"That will take some time," T-dog says.
"Right now, all we got is time," Merle says.
"Okay, I would like to get most of the wall done before we start this or only dig where the wall is done," Daryl says.
"I would say we have a good plan right now. Let's get back to work," Abraham says as he heads for the door. Daryl nods as he stands up and leaves, followed by the others.
Shane's P.O.V
Shane walks downstairs and towards Lori's room. He knocks on the door. "Lori?" Shane says.
"One moment," Lori says from the other side of the door. Shane hears movement in the room and leans back against the wall with a smirk. The door opens, and Lori looks at him. Shane looks at her.
"You have Amy's shirt and boots on," Shane tells her. Lori looks at herself and looks at Shane, her face now red.
"What do you want?" Lori asks him.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing? We haven't been able to talk since I've gotten back. How is Shane Jr?" Shane asks.
"If this baby is a boy. We are not naming it that," Lori says.
"I know. We're going to try to find a portable home or something like that for a medical building. We got some machines and medicine that should help you. When you get your own clothes on, come look," Shane says with a smirk. "Good thing about this is your wardrobe just doubled in size,"
"I would throw my knife at you if I had it," Lori says. Shane chuckles as he walks away, and Lori goes back into the room. The group worked the rest of the day and, after dinner, got ready for bed.
Daniel's P.O.V
Daniel walks away from Eugene and walks over to T-dog. "T-dog, can we talk?" Daniel asks T-dog, who nods as he follows Daniel.
"What's up, Daniel?" T-dog asks.
"I have noticed that you and Ofelia are sharing a tent," Daniel says.
"It's not like that, Daniel. We are two friends sharing a tent," T-dog says.
"I know that. Ofelia said the same thing. This is a warning that if something does happen between you two and you hurt my daughter. You'll wish a walker ate you alive after I get done with you," Daniel tells T-dog nods.
"Understood," T-dog says, his face a little pale. Daniel smiles and pats his shoulder before he walks away. T-dog goes to his tent where Star and Ofelia were.
Eastman's P.O.V
Eastman walks towards his shed with food for Thabitha in the bag he was holding. "Eastman," Morgan says. Eastman turns and looks at him. "I read a little of the book," Morgan says as he holds the book up.
"What did you think?" Eastman asks.
"I would like to learn if you'll teach me," Morgan tells him. Eastman nods with a smile.
"Let me get what you will need, and we'll start in a day or two," Eastman tells Morgan, who nods as he walks back towards his tent. Eastman smiles. "Morgan, when you are done with that. If you could give that to Morales, that would be great," Morgan nods before he turns back around. Eastman walks into the shed, lights up the lantern, and looks at Tabitha as he feeds her. "Looks like I have finally found my reason to keep going, girl," Eastman smiles at the goat and continues to feed her.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl walks into his and Alicia's room and sees her lying on the bed with a book. "How was your day with John?" Daryl asks as he puts his crossbow down.
"Good, Hershel's letting him sleep on the other couch," Alicia says. Daryl nods as he takes off his boots. "I need to talk to you about something," Daryl looks up at her. "When we are safer here, I want to go with John to look for Laura," Alicia watches Daryl waiting for anger.
"You should do it," Daryl tells her as he sits down.
"Really?" Alicia asks.
"Yeah, we all have something we are trying to do in this world. If you think your purpose right now is to help John, then I want you to do it," Daryl says. "I would miss you, but I know you would come back," Alicia smiles as she grabs his hand and pulls him down beside her.
"Thank you," Alicia says before she kisses him and lays down beside him. Daryl nods as he wraps his arms around her and goes to sleep.
