Chapter 48 – Two souls, one memory

Two individuals, part of a soul which has always protected the digital world. Two souls acting as one. Two friends who had the same memories. Agumon and Gabumon... The rookie levels of the Royal Knight Omnimon. Sometimes the two came together secretly and talked about how they shared a thought and a body as the white knight. They were one. It was weird... And yet it felt normal. Agumon and Gabumon each had a partner. Both liked their partners very much... and they always stayed by their side. Happily... Peacefully... But the current threat from Deemon disturbed that peace. In a sleep that was no more than a memory, Agumon and Gabumon remembered something they had long forgotten. A memory of meeting their companions... Their companions Hououmon, HerculesKabuterimon, Vikemon, Rosemon, Seraphimon and Magnadramon. Each of them had their own story, and each of them more or less remembered who they were.

Omnimon looked over to Magnamon, who had his arms intervened in front of his golden chest armour. Next to him floated Quetzalmon, who seemed very happy. Shortly the golden knight was gone and then returned with a companion, who was very grateful to him. But the white knight did not know exactly what had happened.

"So... You think I should have companions, Magnamon?" asked Omnimon: "Because of Deemon?"

"It's not bad. Quetzalmon is very loyal and I am always happy about her company." Magnamon said, closing his eyes and smiling: "Having a companion has many advantages. For example, you can use them for the peace of the digital world."

"They're not objects, Magnamon." Omnimon's eyes narrowed briefly.

"I know. Sorry. I just sounded like that..." he apologized to Quetzalmon: "It wasn't intentional."

"It's okay, Sir Magnamon." the white snake replied.

The white knight sighed.

"And who exactly?" Omnimon interrupted, recalling two acquaintances: "Hm... I could ask them."

"Who?" was Quetzalmon's curious question.

"Two acquaintances of mine. Seraphimon and Magnadramon. One of my parts knew them." the white knight said.

He remembered that he traveled through the digital world as a MetalGarurumon for a while. There he met a MagnaAngemon and an Angewomon, who also travelled back and forth and had no real goal. So the mechanical wolf joined them and became friends with them. They told each other a lot and laughed often together. As it turned out, however, the three were destined for greater good. When both MagnaAngemon and Angewomon digivolved Seraphimon and Ophanimon, they both knew what their real task was. They were archangels and it was their duty to guide and protect the angel-digimon. They left MetalGarurumon and rushed to their destination, while the mechanical wolf continued on its own until he met WarGreymon.

Although MetalGarurumon had been quite annoyed by him at the beginning, the dragon man accompanied him and soon a strong friendship grew between them. When they finally fought a Darkdramon and were nearly defeated by him, they fused to Omnimon and killed the enemy. Then came the memories that he was a Royal Knight.

Without losing another word, Omnimon rushed away and flew through the digital world. He knew exactly where his friends Seraphimon and Ophanimon were. When he finally landed, his blue eyes saw a gigantic castle, guarded by two Piddomon. They kept their sticks straight. The white knight approached the two, crossing their weapons in front of the gate.

"What do you want?" asked one of the two angel digimon.

"I am asking for an audience with Seraphimon and Ophanimon." Omnimon replied.

"No one is going to approach them." the other Piddomon clarified.

"No one, except if you have a status..." the other angel digimon continued.

"My name is Omnimon. I am one of thirteen Royal Knights." the white knight said.

"And I'm not a Piddomon, but I am Cherubimon." Piddomon said.

"I see…" he turned around and wanted to go: "Then I won't bother you."

"Wait!" a voice stopped him.

An Angewomon flew down from the balcony and landed in front of Omnimon. He briefly eyed her as she bowed.

"It is an honor to meet you, Sir Omnimon. Lord Seraphimon and Lady Magnadramon are already waiting for you." the female angel digimon explained.

"Thank you, Angewomon." the white knight thanked her and followed her inside the palace.

For a while, they both remained silent. They walked through the majestic corridors, which were paved with marble. Every now and then the two passed a window, which threw daylight into it. The Angewomon turned right and was right in front of a large door. She knocked a few times before a powerful-sounding voice said "Come in." The female angel digimon opened the door and bowed immediately.

"You can leave, Angewomon." said a soft and warm-hearted voice.

"Very well." Angewomon bowed again and left the aisle.

Meanwhile, Omnimon walked into the room and recognized two digimon. One resembled an angel, the other resembled a dragon mixed with a cat. They sat at a round table with a map in the middle. There were three chairs at the table. The rest of the room was brightly decorated. Several pillars were probably only for decoration. The white knight's eyes wandered back to the two digimon.

"Seraphimon, Magnadramon." Omnimon happily named the two: "It's been a while."

"Sit down, Sir Omnimon." Magnadramon told him.

"Please. Leave the Sir title." the white knight asked: "I am your friend."

"It makes things easier for us," Seraphimon said, his arms entwined in front of his chest.

The pink dragon could already see that the angel digimon next to her was irritated. Normally, Seraphimon only crossed his arms when he was extremely angry.

"I'll get to the point right away. I'm looking for companions." Omnimon began.

"Companions?" the two archangels repeated.

"Yes. In the fight against a dangerous digimon. A friend of mine, Magnamon, had recommended it to me and I think he was right." the Royal Knight's gaze wandered back and forth between the two.

"We can't leave our position, Omnimon," the angel-digimon said harshly.

Seraphimon and Magnadramon really couldn't leave his position. Otherwise, many angel-digimon would fall. They would do a black digivolution and be killed by a digimon. The task of this Digimon was finally to eliminate fallen angel-digimon. A move since Deemon appeared. However, this digimon was very unstable. It wouldn't be long before it would also fall into darkness.

"You have to understand the danger of Deemon!" Omnimon stood up angrily: "I can't defeat him alone!"

"Why do you have the Royal Knights?" asked Seraphimon: "To help you, Omnimon!"

"But you have to help me! The Royal Knights are in contention! Alphamon neglects his duties!" he looked at him with hardened eyes.

"That's not my business, it's Ophanimon's. We have our tasks and duties here... If we neglect them, then we have problems. Many angel-digimon would fall and I personally don't want to shoulder Raguelmon too much."

"Seraphimon!" Magnadramon intervened: "I just spoke to Raguelmon. She wouldn't mind if we were away for a while."

"Raguelmon is way too soft. She never wants and could never lead the Heavenly Choir!" cried the angel-digimon.

"She was the one who had stopped Cherubimon when he fell. I trust her fully."

"Just because you are friends."

"Why do you always see everything so negatively, Seraphimon?" she asked.

"Because it is true, Ophanimon!"

Magnadramon sighed and got up. She took an apologetic glance at Omnimon before saying:

"If you're looking for me... I'm with Raguelmon."

She left the room. Raguelmon was a good friend of the pink dragon. It was also the Digimon, which eliminated fallen angel-digimon. Only through Magnadramon had Raguelmon not yet fallen into darkness. But it really wouldn't take long for her to be shunned.

Omnimon followed the pink dragon with his eyes before turning to Seraphimon.

"There is no point trying to convince to join me." the white knight clarified.

"I agree." the angel-digimon replied.

"Nevertheless, my offer still stands. If you decide... Let me know."

Omnimon said goodbye and walked out of the room before leaving the palace. On the way home, he had to sigh heavily again and again. Seraphimon had changed a lot. He wondered why he had changed so much. He would probably never know the answer. Immersed in thought, he did not notice a digimon approaching him. The two collided with each other. Pain-filled, the white knight closed his eyes and groaned. The other Digimon also groaned and said:

"Sorry, sorry. I am in important research, research! I research the Dark Ocean, Ocean! Important research. Explore the barrier between the digital world and the Dark Ocean, Ocean. Forgive me for colliding into you. Forgive me. But research is important, important!"

"Calm down. Nothing happened." the white knight said reassuringly.

"I apologize, apologize! Whenever I'm in my research, I forget myself."

Only now did Omnimon realize that the digimon he had collided with was a Hercules Kabuterimon.

"No need to worry. An acquaintance of mine is just like that." the white knight reassured him.

"Ah, yes. You're a Royal Knight, aren't you? When I was a Tentomon, I saw you. Omnimon, right?" the insect quibbled.

"Uh yes."

"Excellent. I would like to join you. My name is HerculesKabuterimon. I can also convince an acquaintance of mine. His name is Vikemon. We are good friends, friends!"

"You're welcome... I think so. I'm looking for companions right now."

"Great! Then on good cooperation, Sir Omnimon."

"You don't question why I'm looking for companions?"

"When I question every little thing, I would have a lot to do. But now that you mention it... Why are you looking for companions?"

"I want to defeat one of the demon lords, Deemon, to be precise. I can't do it alone, which is why another Royal Knight suggested that I look for companions."

"It's good that you flew into me. My name is HerculesKabuterimon. I'm happy, I'm happy."

"It's my pleasure, HerculesKabuterimon."

So Omnimon did not fly back empty-handed. He had not been able to convince Seraphimon and Magnadramon, but a researcher followed him now. Since it would take a while for them to reach the "home" of the Royal Knight, they took a break. Omnimon did not want to make a fire, as they would probably then be attacked by other digimon. HerculesKabuterimon lay down on the floor with his massive body and muttered quietly in front of him.

"HerculesKabuterimon." the white knight said.
"If the barrier consists of binary numbers and contains the combination Alpha and Omega, then-"

"HerculesKabuterimon!"

"Huh?" he looked up: "Oh... I've talked to myself again, haven't I?"

"Does that happen to you more often?"

"Only when I am immersed in my research. The dark ocean is so special and I wonder how it came about in the first place. I want to know!"

"As far as I have heard from King Drasil, this ocean is supposed to ensure that highly dangerous digimon that cannot be killed are sent to a prison." Omnimon said.

"That's the job of this ocean. But not an explanation of how it came be." HerculesKabuterimon said.

"I think King Drasil created it personally."

"But as far as I heard about King Drasil, it should always want malicious digimons to be destroyed."

"That's not true, HerculesKabuterimon."

"And why?"

Suddenly a digimon was approaching them and both Digimons straightened up. Omnimon pulled his Grey blade and placed it in front of her body. Meanwhile, electricity crackled between the arms of the insect. A pink dragon emerged from the bushes and looked with determined eyes at the white knight.

"I will accompany you, Sir Omnimon," Magnadramon said.

"What about Seraphimon?" the Royal Knight questioned.

"He won't want to help you. But because of the danger posed by Deemon, I can't and won't just sit around so quietly!"

"Then welcome to the team!" exclaimed HerculesKabuterimon, reaching out his hand to her.

"And you are?" was her question, as she tilted her head slightly.

"HerculesKabuterimon, researcher. I examine the barrier between our world and the dark ocean. It's a pleasure to meet you." he introduced himself.

"My name is Magnadramon. One of the three archangels. The pleasure is on my side, HerculesKabuterimon."

Several days passed. HerculesKabuterimon and Magnadramon often chatted with Magnamon's companion Quetzalmon, Examon's companion Dorbickmon, and Alphamon's companion DarkKnightmon. The five told each other a lot about their past. Thus the insect, the pink dragon and the white snake learned that the dragon man had known Examon for a long time and he followed his friend almost immediately when he became a Royal Knight. DarkKnightmon himself roamed the digital world alone for several years, always looking for even stronger digimon. One day he met Alphamon and both fought each other until DarkKnightmon was defeated. He then joined the leader of the Royal Knights.

"What do you think? How many more companions does Sir Omnimon want?" asked Quetzalmon.

"Hm...", the black Knightmon pondered thoughtfully: "He still seems to want some. Where is Sir Omnimon right now? Should he not attend tomorrow's conference?"

"Yes." Dorbickmon replied angrily: "But Sir White seems to be looking for a few more companions."

"That's true." HerculesKabuterimon confirmed: "Sir Omnimon wants to recruit a Rosemon, a Vikemon and a Phoenixmon."

"Not, the Phoenixmon, known as the empress of the sky?" Magnadramon's eyes widened.

"You know her?" the white snake asked.

"Sure. She is quite vain and conceited. I once had the pleasure with her." the pink dragon shook briefly.

"I don't hope Sir White recruits her. Can't stand birds." the dragon man grumbled, intervining his arms in front of his chest: "Just because they can fly, they think they're something better."

"But you're also quite arrogant, Dorbickmon," Quetzalmon remarked: "We can all fly here as well... But we're not arrogant.'"

"So could it be that you're just jealous because you can't fly?" was DarkKnightmon's question.

"Shut up!" Dorbickmon told them.

The other companions remained silent and looked at him tacitly. While the companions of individual Royal Knights remained silent, Omnimon flew through the air looking for a certain digimon. The area changed to a rocky landscape adjacent to the sea. When the white knight saw the Digimon, which had just settled in the sun, he landed and said,

"I was looking for you, Vikemon."

"Hm?" he grumbled, straightened up, and stretched out with a heavy yawn: "Ah. You are a Royal Knight. perfect! I'll need your help!"

"Why do you want my help?"

"Do you see the chunk behind me?" asked Vikemon, pointing to the rock.

"Yes. And what about that?"

"A friend of mine asked me to move this chunk into the sea. However... I can't do it on my own. That's why I ask for your help."

"Okay."

Vikemon's facial features brightened up before he got serious again and stood sideways against the chunk. Omnimon did the same and with combined forces they tried to move the rock. The white knight slipped a few times with his feet and had to stabilize against the other Digimon.

"Do you think... that we... can do it..." the Royal Knight asked him, before he coughed up.

"Sure..." said Vikemon, who noticed that the chunk was moving slightly.

Eventually, the rock began to move and fell into the sea. Omnimon leaned against the rock face and had to inhale and exhale several times.

" Thank you, Sir Omnimon." said the Sea Digimon: "Now Plesiomon and MegaSeadramon can finally go back to the pool where there are very good fish."

"Great happen..." the white knight paused briefly before continuing: "Vikemon? I need your help."

"With what?"

"I'm looking for companions. And I've heard a lot from you."

"Good. I'll come along."

"Without knowing why I'm looking for companions?"

"Hey! You've helped me, so I help you now!" he laughed.

"Good. I need companions in the fight against Deemon." Omnimon began.

"Who?"

"Deemon, one of the seven demon lords." he said.

"I still don't know him. But you helped me, so I'm going to help you now."

"Thank you, Vikemon.", with his blue eyes, he recognized another Digimon flying in the sky, and he was looking: "I'm going to come back soon."

The Royal Knight nodded to him before flying high into the air. He stood in front of a large bird that suspiciously eyed him.

"What gives me the honor of meeting you?" asked Phoenixmon unkindly.

"I just wanted to talk to you." Omnimon replied.

"Talk to me?" she repeated, before laughing loudly: "I have no interest in helping you."

"Apparently you are already informed about me."

"You are looking for companies. That's what I heard."

"Exactly. And I want you to ally with me."

"Why? Give me a reason for this!" she hissed, flapping angrily with her front pair of wings.

"If you care about the safety of the digital world, you should help me." he explained, looking into her ice-blue eyes

"I refuse." she replied quickly, too quickly.

"I have heard from you. The empress of the sky, the loner of heaven, the goddess of bird digimon. You have many names. And your reputation is just as cold." the white knight said cold-heartedly.

"Don't speak as if you know me," the phoenix flew up in the air, furiously, and then shouted at him: "If you can beat me, I will help you."

"And what kind of competition?" his curiosity was aroused.

"A flying competition. Whoever reaches Infinity Mountain first, wins. To make it more interesting..." she smiled stealthily: "I will constantly attack you while you are not allowed to do so. If you defeat me anyway, I will join you."

"Not under these conditions."

"Then not." she flapped vigorously with her two pairs of wings and flew away.

"Wait, Phoenixmon!" he shouted, hurrying after her.

"Leave me alone! If you don't want to compete against me with my conditions..."

"Well... I'm going to compete against you." he said.

She smiled and immediately began to put her four wings tightly on her chest.

"Starlight Explosion." she immediately stretched her wings backwards and several yellow fireballs raced towards him.

Omnimon quickly dodged and went to her. Meanwhile, Phoenixmon caught fire in her beak before a swell of flames shot at him. Again, he dodged. This time to the sky. He would have liked to have used an attack to counter them, but according to her rule he was not allowed to do so, so he could only dodge. After just over a minute, much to her anger, he had overtaken her and flew in a straight line to Infinity Mountain. The phoenix shot behind him and overtook him again before flying deeper. Under her, the sea roared and the typical smell of salt rose into her nostrils. He immediately followed her and surprised her. Phoenixmon doubled her flight speed, allowing her to fly faster again and fired a blaze at him. With a skillful turn in the air, he dodged her and also doubled his flight speed until he was at the same altitude with her. Now both could see the shore of File Island. Phoenixmon, who clearly enjoyed the challenge, said,

"So, so. You are really good... No one had challenged me that much for a long time... However, you are too slow..."

She increased her flight speed and flew over the beach of File Island to a forest. She flew up and raced on to Infinity Mountain. With powerful wing strokes she sped up the cliff face and landed at the top. The phoenix folded her four wings before watching it land in front of her. Breathing heavily, he took a short look over the landscape and was amazed by the view.

"Amazing." said the white knight, stepping a step to the cliff before continuing his gaze over the landscape.

"This is my favorite place. From here you have a very good view... Sometimes I think about building my nest here. I like the island and the landscape... But the mountain already belongs to someone..."

"Who?" Asked Omnimon and turned to her.

"Ornithmon. He's very aggressive when it comes to defending his territory." she sighed once.

"Ah... I've heard of him. But let's leave that at that. I lost to you. So I'm not going to force you to go with me.", the white knight walked past her and wanted to fly off.

"Wait." said the phoenix, and went to him: "Please wait."

He looked at her in amazement.

"I want to accompany you. Even if you lost to me, I will accompany you because you have given me a challenge." she smiled.

He nodded to her.

"Then we go, Phoenixmon."

Both flew back to the cliff, where Vikemon returned to a midday nap.

"Vikemon!" the Royal Knight shouted at him.

"Hm?" he opened an eye: "Ah! Sir Omnimon. and... who are you?"

"Phoenixmon." she replied, with narrowed eyes and an unkind tone.

"Nice to meet you!" laughed the sea digimon.

"So... Then let's go." Omnimon decided, before everyone flew off.

Once there, the white knight was already greeted by Magnadramon and HerculesKabuterimon. But Omnimon also saw another Digimon. It was Seraphimon who had crossed his arms. The pink dragon flew towards the Royal Knight and quietly explained to him:

"Seraphimon has decided to join you. He doesn't want to let a fallen angel-digimon walk around freely. Not again like Cherubimon."

"I see." Omnimon quipped: "May I introduce you to Vikemon and Magnadramon?"

"We've already met" Magnadramon and HerculesKabuterimon replied.

"That makes it a lot easier for me. All I have to do now is finding Rosemon."

"The Rosemon?!" cried Vikemon.

"Yes. The Rosemon," the white knight confirmed.

"She lives in a castle full of Gekomon."

"Thank you, Vikemon. You can talk while I'm going to visit Rosemon." without losing another word, Omnimon left his companions.

The white knight flew off in a hurry. It took him a while to reach the castle in question. It was very far away. So the Royal Knight flew through two nights and rested only when absolutely necessary. On the morning of the third day he saw the castle.

"Hm... So this is the infamous Gekomon Castle..." said Omnimon.

"Geko?!" one of the frogs shouted: "That… that... is…"

"Omnimon? One of the Royal Knights, geko?!" the eyes of the other gekomon widened.

"Exactly. I'd like to have a talk with Rosemon." the white knight said.

"Sure, geko!" the first gekomon raced off.

A short time later, an Otamamon came and bowed briefly.

"Princess Rosemon wants to talk to you, ko," the tadpole explained, directing Omnimon into a large hall.

A woman sat on an elegant armchair.

"So, you're Omnimon?" asked Rosemon.

"Yes. I have a favor to ask you, Rosemon." he said.

"Hm? And what exactly do you want, oh big Omnimon?"

"I want you to accompany me to fight him. Your fighting skills are exceptional."

"Rejected. I'm not going to leave this place. The Gekomons, Otamamons and ShogunGekomon... I can't leave them alone. When I leave the place, ShogunGekomon will become very sad and fall asleep again. Then the Gekomons and Otamamons will also be sad. That's why I refuse, oh big Omnimon."

"I see... That's a real shame... But I can't force you..." he sighed resignedly and turned around: "But if you change your mind... My faithful subordinates are always and everywhere. Let them know that you want to help me."

"I'm not going to help you, Omnimon. I am genuinely sorry."

"I'm saying goodbye to you, Rosemon. Farewell."

With that he left Rosemon, Gekomon and Otamamon. What he had no idea was that Rosemon was rushing after him and following him. The Royal Knight had no idea that Deemon would attack them in just a few months. Omnimon had just had a heated argument with Alphamon. Their companions, as well as the other Royal Knights and their companions, wanted to stop this argument. At that very moment the demon attacked and killed Gankoomon, Sleipmon, Examon, UlforceVeedramon and Crusadermon.

Deemon laughed out loud. Several rays of energy shot at Omnimon, the other Royal Knights and the Companions. They dodged and watched him.

"I have an idea." HerculesKabuterimon said.

"And that would be?" asked Rosemon.

"We give it all our strength."

"How?" Seraphimon.

"By the combined force, he would be able to defeat him." the insect said.

"Good. Then we'll do it!" decided Vikemon.

"That's crazy!" shouted Phoenixmon.

"It isn't!" said Magnadramon.

"Then let's try it!" said the white knight, flying into the middle of his companions.

He spread his arms as his companions shrouded themselves in a light. They themselves were dismembered in data that was absorbed by it. Then his shape changed. His cape formed into blue shimmering wings, while his armor shone in white and was crossed with blue lines. After carrying out the transformation, he looked to the enemy.

/Let's do it, my friends. We will defeat him!/ Omnimon thought, before the fight continued.

But in the end, he couldn't defeat Deemon. The demon had thrust his claw into his torso and then threw him to the ground. His companions separated from his body. All had holes in their chests and breathed heavily. While one by one died and dissolved into data, the white knight closed his eyes to hide his tears. It didn't help. Even with united forces, they could not defeat Deemon. Omnimon felt someone lift him up. It was difficult for him to open his eyes. When he did this, he looked directly into Alphamon's eyes.

"Alpha... mon..." the white knight quipped.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," the royal knight leader repeatedly apologized.

"Why…?"

"I should have listened to you. I shouldn't have followed King Drasil so blindly. It had told me that Deemon was not a danger. And now? Now several of us have already died... Gankoomon, Sleipmon, Examon, UlforceVeedramon, Crusadermon..." he breathed.

"It's... not your... fault... Deemon must... be sealed… into the… Dark Ocean… It's... "

He couldn't talk anylonger. Omnimon's eyes fell and he too dissolved into a thousand data particles like his companions.
