So I went back and corrected the words. But thats it. lol

Chapter 48: Night Shift

"Seriously…." Kagura muttered as her gleaming red eyes scanned outside of the large bar windows watching the rain pelt the glass. Droplets of water left trails behind them as they fell downward towards the old brick and pavement. She looked aimlessly into the night as white lightening flashed and highlighted her features in her reflection. A light coat of sweat glistened on her body as her fingers tapped the side of her whiskey glass that she nurtured that late evening. People had long since left with gripes after she closed her doors early that night without notice. The dark bar was eerily silent now that everyone had left.

The reprieve of the air conditioning came on and a contented sigh left her lips. Her eyes shut tightly as she reveled in the cold blast of air from the vents above. Kagura tilted her head to the side and massaged her neck with her left; stretching the tense muscles there. A nice buzz had settled into her limbs, finally after the last drink that she poured. Slender fingers gripped her whisky glass gently before bringing the brown liquor up to her red stained lips. The other hand moved from her neck to reach for the bottle next to her. The bottle was warm as it watched its mistress take comfort in its offerings.

Kagura was tired.

Her shoulders slumped a little, allowing the thin spaghetti straps of her black tank top to fall off of her thin frame. Her mouth moved while she talked over somethings with imaginary spirits. Her hair was messily stacked on her head. The red lipstick smudged along her lips and staining her glass. The last few weeks had taken a toll on her. Leaving emotional and mental wounds for her to clean later. And the later had come that night. Naraku and his manipulations. Bubbling up to the surface as one of her patrons brought news about an accidental death regarding the Yomi Clan and ironically enough a business that was once tied to the Utomi Clan. It seemed Naraku was right. But at what cost did he pay to be right about all of this?

Kagura narrowed her eyes at a few drops that slid down the window. The sound of beating rain leading her further into her morbid thoughts. She loved to help her family. Kanna and Naraku were all that she had in this world. Kanna was flourishing in the States studying for her exams as an undergraduate student. And Naraku ran a series of successful businesses and credentials that would keep their legacy afloat for eons. Kagura snorted to herself at this…businesses. The same businesses that brought despair to her doorstep. She loved helping her brother especially when he was right about correcting wrongs that were done. But this…the things he had her find recently was just…disgustingly exhausting.

She looked into her almost empty glass and took another sip. The liquor burned a bit on her tastebuds causing her to grimace as she swallowed. The earthy scent and the taste was just what she needed to ground her into her current reality. She went through the motions after closing. First was rage…and then sadness… and now finally some reconciliation. People talk a lot of shit about clubs, bars, speakeasies, and those that come out at night to frequent them. But in her opinion…these people and places were kittens compared to the real beasts that waltzed around in sheep's clothing during the daylight hours pretending to be patron saints.

"Bastards." She muttered before tossing back the rest of her drink. Her eyes squeezed shut feeling the burn slide down her throat. A hiss left her lips once she was finished. Shaking her head, she focused on her phone that sat on the table across the way. The light flashed in the darkness. The name going unseen as the screen lay face down. She just couldn't talk right now. The cruelty of this world had gotten to her. It rarely did anymore but there were a few times when it swung and hit her in her jugular. That night….with the information she gathered…became one of those nights.

Everyone wanted to talk shit about her brother Naraku but no one knew all that he had done and continues to do to keep people safe. Sure…he was an arrogant dick. His methods were unorthodox and yes he could be a low life thug like the best of them. A true Yakuza Demi-God running the streets at night. And he definitely needed to get some counseling and smoke a blunt here and there…but he wasn't wrong in his targets and why. And he had a policy about going after children. Also, Naraku never lied. He was many things but he never lied. So, when he put her to task to help him dig up some information on the Utomi Clan and the Yomi Clan…she knew he had found something. That he was up to something. He didn't let sleeping dogs lay.

Hoshi Yomi and his mate were inspirational. They were the kind of people that made you feel good for just being who you are and getting up in the morning. They loved everybody and stood up for everyone that was different. Their actions revolutionized society and created many policies that helped everyone live a beautiful healthy loving life. Their love back in time was scandalous to say the least. A renowned miko samurai and warrior demon king… together…mated. It was shocking. They got plenty of hate when they were discovered. Plenty of demons and humans came to challenge them and strike them down. But they stood strong. And they stood with support from the Tashio's and from Naraku and herself. They were all a unit. Looking after each other. A real family.

Kagura reached for the bottle and began to pour anew. The liquid broke the silence in the room as she poured to the top of the rim. She rarely indulged in alcohol despite her profession. But tonight…she needed the liquid warmth to ease some the emotions and brace herself against her harsh reality. The reality that she knew along with her brother Naraku that the Yomi Clan did indeed kill Hoshi and Tsuki Yomi. Hoshi's own blood…people that valued the throne and money before their king and family…killed their own. Murdered Hoshi and Tsuki Yomi that day during the tsunami. And the Utomi's knew about it. And they preyed together on the Higurashi's to get Rin so that they could get the pups inheritance.

Kagura closed her eyes and focused on her breath. Her chest was getting tight again. She needed to release the rage. The wind demoness took in a large breath of air into her lungs. After a few seconds, she expelled it out into the air. Her nose twitched from the light smell of lemon and wood cleaner that coated the surfaces of the tables and chairs. A manicured finger brushed the tip of her nose before returning to hold the glass in her hand.

"How can you know all of this and not be bat shit crazy Naraku…" Kagura asked aloud in the empty bar space. Her eyes searched the vast room of tables and chairs for answers she knew weren't there. Her other hand freed itself from the glass and came up to hold her head into her palm. "Or maybe you are already crazy and I'm going insane." She voiced before closing her eyes.

Naraku was a character. He was a demon that operated underground and worked with the most unsavory of people. People that knew other people that did the vilest deeds. Apparently murders and assassins. She knew her brother was no saint. She knew exactly what Naraku was capable of first hand. But he wasn't the monster that people tried to paint him to be. If you crossed him then you suffered his consequences. If you started something…he ended it. He had been this way since they were young. Surviving the hell that was their own family clan before freeing themselves and running away. Their family were real monsters. And the unspeakable horrors that they did…

Kagura shivered and pulled herself away from those thoughts. It was over. In the past. Naraku did what he had to do and he saved them all. He bloodied his hands to save what little he had. He was so young back then but he learned what he needed to do…who he needed to be…to defeat his enemies and live. Naraku may not be perfect, but he was a great brother and a champion of people that did what needed to be done to get out of dark places. And she would always back him up and defend him. And the Tashio's. She would protect them too for taking her, Kanna, and Naraku in. Treating them like family. Giving them a home to sleep safely in at night and not have to worry about who was going to come visit in the middle of the night.

That's why she goes lightly when dealing with Inuyasha and his antics. Or Sesshomaru and his arrogance. They were all like brothers or cousins. They looked out for her and she looked out for them. That's why whenever she caught something on the wind, that was worth some salt…she would tell it. When Lord Touga's lands was being threatened by another lord, she spied and sent him intel. When Sesshomaru was being threatened by the panthers, she sent back information about their motives and weaknesses. When Inuyasha got himself into trouble, she was there to blow as much of it as she could away. They protected her. And she would always be around to protect them too.

But now the danger had heightened. Now she had a name. The wind told her the Yomi Clan soiled their hands and was coming into town. Well…she was coming to town. And after the dirt she had dug up and confirmed…she knew this wouldn't be just a coincidence. Had they come to finish what they started? Since the Utomi Clan couldn't get the Tashio's fortune or attention off of Rin and Kagome…was this the next step to take? And if what they know to be true…that meant that Rin, Kagome, and Kikyo were in danger. Kagura spoke over some details about it with Naraku but he waived her off saying that he had everything under control and to not tell a soul. But…she disobeyed.

She called Lord Touga immediately…and told him everything. Even the name she gathered. Duchess Reina Yomi

Kagura sighed and felt the contents in her stomach shift from nervousness. Her hand came down to rub her belly soothingly as she pushed her drink away with the other hand. If Naraku found out that she told…he is going to be pissed. And then find little ways to make her life hell. A groaned left as she lowered her head fully onto the hard wood table.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Kagura sat up immediately and stretched her aura out curiously. A roguish flick of demonic aura brushed affectionately back at her in response. A gasp left her lips as she debated briefly rather to move or not. Before her mind could catch up, her feet was already taking her to the door. Kagura brushed the straps of her top back onto her shoulders while her hands move dispelling her barrier. She unlocked all the mechanics to keep everyone out. She swung the thick wooden door open to see a disgruntled Kouga standing there before her getting pelted by the rain. Her eyes narrowed on his shivering wet wolf standing before her looking like someone's abandoned yard dog instead.

"What do you want?" She yelled over the sound of thunder and rain pouring outside.

"Can we talk?" Lightening flashed highlighting his form. His head was tucked inside of a black hooded wind breaker and the rest of him was stuffed in tight ripped jeans. His face was sort of hidden from view and tilted downward. Water dripped down his face onto his wet jacket. Confused and curious, she scanned him with critical eyes before moving aside and allowing him entry. He quickly shuffled inside by her. His mountain scent mixed with earthy grass and rain made her nostalgic. Turmoil and angst swirled inside of her but she put a lid on it quickly. This was going to be different. She wasn't entertaining his foolishness any longer. Sighing heavily, she closed the door and put up her barrier again.

Nervousness sat in her belly along with anxiety as she turned to get a good look at him. She wasn't getting anything from his youkai other than the constant motion of him pushing against her own gently in a coaxing manner. She didn't know what else he had to say to her or why he was here but she had to get to the point so she could get him out of there. Less she fall back into her old ways and get her heart trampled on all over again. "Look…Kouga.." she confronted as cocked one hip to the side and watched the wolf demon pull the hood down from his head, releasing his long black-brown hair . "Go home, Kouga. It's ok. Whatever it is, we can talk about it later. You have made it clear that-."

"I am home. I'm exactly where I want to be. Where I need to be." He said as he unzipped his jacket and began removing it from his body with his back to her.

Kagura shook her head feeling her buzz leave her as she continued to process what was happening. "Are you drunk?" She asked incredulously and crossed her arms over chest. This wasn't like him. He was very direct sure but not in this way. He was really bold tonight. Daring even. Her aura flexed towards him searchingly but found nothing again. Oddly enough, he seemed physically tired and anxious in his movements. Almost twitchy.

"Nope." Kouga took the jacket off of him and tossed the wet clothing in the corner by the door. "I kinda wish I was for this but I'm pretty sober." He said as he flicked his bangs out of his face but refused to turn around just yet.

Kagura put her hands on her hips, growing angered that he wouldn't face her. "Kouga…what the hell are you-" She started as she walked around to get his attention. "Kouga!" She screamed suddenly as she finally got a good look at his face. The face he had been hiding from her view. "What the hell happened to you!" She ran up to the wall to cut on the lights so she could get a better look.

"Don't!" He said before her fingers could flick the lights on. Kagura's eyes glowed as she raked him for answers. Concern, anger, and confusion swirled in her eyes and frown lines marred her forehead. He took in her figure clad in black and hugged tightly by her chemise tank top and leggings. Her hair was messily bunned roughly on top of her head. Her face seemed haunted as if she hadn't been taking care of herself. His heart constricted hoping that he didn't do this to her. That he wasn't the reason that she seemed so sad and down. The light from the outside world cast shadows around her, reminding him of the many times they had spent together under the moon. Her moving and him chasing. He just prayed it wasn't too late to have her.

Her eyes widened, truly at a loss as to what to do. Kagura looked upon Kouga's face to see the biggest black and blue welt on the side of his cheek with a jagged cut from claws. The skin looked serrated as if someone really wanted him to feel this pain. The muscle underneath was seen as it glistened angrily in the moonlight filtering in through the window. This just happened but Kouga's demonic healing abilities kicked in and already began to help. The bleeding looked to have stopped but the skin was slowly coming together. Had he been in a fight? Here? Of all places? And with whom? Why? And why come to her? Didn't he have an intended? A mate already to help him with this?

Kouga sighed loudly and walked over to the demoness. He reached for her hands and gripped them tightly in his own. "Don't turn on those lights just yet. I'll tell you everything. Please, can you can get me a wet towel and some ice." He asked pleadingly. He expression readable as his aura swept over soothingly as if she was his Alpha. "And I promise I'll answer every one of your questions and…I'm not leaving. Not this time. Not ever."

Kagura swallowed thickly. His words echoed in her mind. Her mouth opened to speak but nothing came out. Speechless for the first time in her life. This Kouga reminded her of the Kouga from centuries ago. Who was self-assured and took no heed from anyone. Who ran through the woods and followed the rivers. Her thoughts started to run before clarity settled. Kouga was assured of himself again. Resolute. But what about? What happened? Why come to her? She couldn't suffer another heartbreak. Not again. "Go home, Kouga." She whispered shakily calling for the last little bit of fight she had in her. "Your mate should take care of you. That's the duty of your intended. Don't disrespect her like this."

"She is taking care of me." He responded stepping closer and reaching for saddened face. "She's right here." A smirk twisted his lips up along with his flesh wound that turned his expression into a grimace from the pain. "She is here standing before me. Hopefully, she will get that wet towel and maybe a shot of something strong. And…" He paused reading her expression. "And tell me what happened to you. Who made you this upset?"

Kagura was taken aback by his demeanor. She scanned him and sensed no lie. Hope blossomed in her chest but she quickly clamped it down. She needed to stay cool and unattached if she was going to get through this encounter without getting dragged back into this shit show of a love story that had a sorry ending. Switching gears, she pointed towards the table she was sitting at by the window and went to get a wet rag.

The rain fell heavier as the minutes went by. Both sat at the table with Kagura's body being between the window and Kouga's. Silence had dragged between them as she worked with a first aid kit she had in the back for all kinds of occasions and a wet cloth to clean his wounds. The skin had begun to crust over and stitch himself back together. It looked worse than what it actually was or probably felt like. Kagura worked while scanning the nervous wolf before her that seemed to be focusing on his hands gripping her abandoned whiskey glass tightly. "So…" She started, tossing the rag down and reaching for the glass to fill it back up so that they can share. "Here is something to help us both get through this." She said as she finished pouring. Kagura reached for the drink and took a sip. "So what happened to your face?"

"Well…" Kouga dragged as he touched the fresh bandage that covered his raw cheek. A fang tooth poked out as he looked at her from the corner of his eyes. "Naraku don't exactly hit like the bitch I thought he was…" he muttered insultingly while trying not to shiver from the memory of what he had to endure to be here.

"What!" Kagura shrieked practically slamming the whiskey glass back down and shaking the table. A little bit of brown whiskey spilled from the top. "KOUGA!" She couldn't even form the questions.

Kouga's hands came up to usher her to calm down. He reached for the wet rag and used an unused end to clean up the spill. His ears rang a bit at her loud scream next to his ears. "Yeah…It's ok though. I see why that asshole brother of yours gets shit done. That right hook he's got…did he box? Did he do underground boxing too?"

Kagura turned her body and gripped the front of his thin white t shirt. She pulled him to her and gritted her teeth. "Start talking." She muttered dangerously. Her thoughts from earlier about her brother being tested. Her anger was boiling again not sure if she should be upset at Kouga, Naraku, or both now.

Kouga sighed and reached for her hands to calm her down. "Well…I figured if I was going to do this. If I was going to try to get you back…I was going to do this right." He ran his finger through his thick bangs anxiously. His blue eyes locked with her red ones. "I should have done this from the beginning."

"What are you talking about?" Kagura asked completely at a loss as to what the wolf prince was going on about.

Kouga pushed the bottle and the glass away from them. His hands then reached for hers and pulled her in close to his body. The rain outside breaking the stiff silence in the room as it pelted the glass trying to be privy to the conversation inside. "I want you. I don't want Ayame. I don't want to be with anyone else. I want you Kagura. And to hell with the rest. It means nothing without you."

Silence.

Kagura's eyes were wide as she stared at the wolf. Gone was the playful grin, the jokes, the solemn look that he would throw because he can't look her in the eyes anymore, and the arrogance that he carried with him like the pelt he normally wore across his shoulders signifying his royal status. She looked him up and down, searching for lies. The shaky wall she had created on soft foundation was not ready to be tested just yet. She needed to get away from him. This was only going to end in more heartache. "I-I can't do this." She whispered and swallowed thickly. Her head whipped around as she moved her hands to push against the solid table so she could crawl out. "This-You need to leave. You need to be with Ayame. Go be with her for your elders."

Kagura…please." He yelled frantically as she pushed against the table harshly this time. Her legs lifted to climb. He reached for her but she pushed his hands away. "Please…listen to me!"

"Kouga! Stop!" Kagura's voice escalated. Her heart was beating madly in her chest. Her heart outpaced the rain beating on the windows heavily now. It's like the skies knew. The sky came to warn her of what was to take place. Well…not this time. She would not suffer again. She would not be rejected again. Go willingly and blindly following the wolf. "This has got to stop. Go!"

Kouga shifted back to give her space. He got up and moved. He would never cage her. He certainly respected women and he wouldn't dare stop her from leaving. But he hoped it wasn't too late. That she would still hear him out and give what he had to say a chance. She shuffled by him and quickly walked towards to bar. Kouga stood still and yelled after her. "I know I've been toxic to say the least. You deserve more. But I'm here. I know what I want. I'm willing to do whatever I need to do. I'm here for you. For a an us. For a future with you in it. I gave up my title and position in the clan!" He yelled over the ample distance she managed to put between them.

Kouga made it to the bar before she stopped. Her hands braced against its edge as his words hit her. Her heart seemed to have startled from the news. She whipped her head back and stared at him wide eyed. "What?! Kouga…what?!"

Kouga stood still and looked down at his black wet sneakers feeling oddly shy now. He had no titles, no money, nothing to hide behind. He was standing as he was. As he knew she would appreciate him. He stood as Kouga. The rough wolf that chased her across fields of lavender. That watched her dance under the light of the full moon. That had been there to save her from all kinds of history related events. He gathered himself and the little bit of courage he had left to salvage whatever he could from this revelation.

"I gave it up Kagura. If it meant losing you. Losing the one thing…the one person that makes me feel like I mean something to them besides what I'm worth…the one person that has cared about me since the beginning then… I don't want it. Not if it means I can't have you. Not if I can't have you as my own and me as yours." He finished breathlessly. His chest rising and falling in the darkened room of the bar.

Kagura stood still. Her brain wasn't working properly. She heard him say he gave it all up but for what? For her? "Why?" She whispered, bringing her palms to her chest. Hope gripping its hands tightly around her beating heart.

Kouga cautiously walked forward, careful to not scare her off. The intensity in which he held her gaze shook him. He never felt so serious about something in his entire life. This woman could make him feel on top of the world and at the bottom of it should she get sad. She inspired him and challenged him. She didn't kiss his ass or follow him around. Matter of fact, he was the one always chasing her. Opportunity was upon him. Kami has blessed him with another opportunity to at least fix his relationship with this woman. If he could crawl back into her good graces as a friend he would accept that. But he was shooting for more. He just hoped it wasn't too late and that he didn't fuck up as bad as he knew he could have.

"Kagura." He stood before her, this time not touching her but just stating his case. "I was foolishly willing to put my clan history and clan politics before our relationship. I had to live in misery and try to think I could live happy to only find out that…I can't live like that. I can't force myself to believe that waking up to you every morning wasn't the best feeling in the world. Hearing you and my clan brethren bicker over breakfast and dinner meals didn't bring me joy and contentment. That I could live without having you around me all the time. I can't. I can't lie to myself. And trying to make it work with someone else…that was God awful. And having a bunch of clan elders talk about bullshit that I could care less about. When in my head I just thought about taking you to see the next waterfall or the lights in the mountains. " He ranted, now going on a tangent as he lost himself to his thoughts.

Warm hands gently gripped the sides of his face and his words died in his mouth. Her fingers were mindful of his wounds and bruising. His eyes grew wide at the contact. Her touch was electric as she held him in place. Searching him for something. "Kouga…"

Kagura's heart was beating madly in her chest at his admittance. Her eyes for some reason were starting to get damp and she fought against the betrayal of her tear ducts. Steeling herself, she glanced at the floor before looking back up at the wolf that looked like he was ready to give worship to the moon. He looked determined and focused as his blue eyes held hers. Kagura licked chapped lips. "So let me get this straight. You gave up your birthright. You left your brethren. You came back to Paris. You clearly went to my brother to ask for his – I'm assuming- blessing…and got this thing on your cheek…" She gestured lightly to the bandage and the discoloration slowly fading. "And for what, Kouga?" She asked again. Kouga still didn't say it. He didn't say what he wanted specifically and where was he going with all of this. She needed to hear him. She needed this for her own mental state and peace in her heart. "Kouga…what do you want from me? Why are you here?"

Kouga reached up to hold her hand in his against his face. "Kagura…I want you as my mate. I want to commit myself to you for the rest of my life. I want to have my future with you. I was a fool to give up like that but if you will give me a chance, I promise I will spend the rest of my life proving myself to ."

Kagura had pulled him to her and kissed him harshly on the lips. His hands flailed a bit before reaching for her body and pulling her tightly to him. His hands grabbed whatever he could to keep her pressed against him. The unexpected handling of his body by Kagura put fire in his blood. Her wild spirit and floral scent rushed him as he tasted her. A groan left his throat at the sensory overload of having the woman he wanted in his arms finally. Her scent and the natural taste with a hint of the whiskey they had earlier was killing him softly. He felt like a starved demon before and now he was brought to his favorite restaurant to indulge. She was divine. His gums itched with the familiar feeling as his nose rubbed against her cheek, her ear, her neck, and back up again.

Kagura broke. Elation and happiness filled her up at having her wolf with her again. The wolf and the wind. Together again. Her hands reached for whatever she could grab and he returned the gesture, pulling her into his front as if he could absorb her. Kagura's heart leapt with joy as she felt him incase her in his strong hold. His lips were so soft against hers. Their kisses frantic and sloppy. Both smiling and uncaring how they went about it as long as they were together and enjoying themselves. His body up against hers had her climbing to latch onto him. A strong grip found her ass cheeks and lifted her up so she could sit on his hips. Kagura broke the kiss and inhaled deeply. A pulse of need began brewing in her abdomen. The happiest part of Kouga brushing against her. Her ankles locked behind his hips and her hands braced herself against his shoulders. Her gaze fell down on the roguish smirk plastered on Kouga's face. His cheeks slightly reddened and a goofy heated gaze lit up his eyes.

Kagura laughed deliriously and bent down to kiss the tip of his nose. "Kouga…" She spoke breathlessly as her chest heaved in front of him. His eyes never left hers though as he remained captivated by the wind goddess in his arms. Finally, he had her. Kagura smiled down at the wolf and ran her fingers along his cheeks. "Yes…make me yours. I would want nothing more in the world but to finally be yours. But…later we will talk about this whole giving things up. We don't let anyone run us from anywhere. And we keep what is ours. Besides…your cousins need us. Who's going to keep them out of trouble?"

Kouga's brows drew inwards, confused at her statement before she finished. Kagura was wealthy beyond anyone's knowledge. She didn't need wealth, luxury goods, or anything. She thrived on her ability to pack a backpack and just go when she felt like it. So what did he have to offer her? What did his princely position mean to her? "What? I don't need any of that. And my cousins will be fine."

Kagura bent down and kissed his lips chastely again before pulling back. "I know. But that title is still yours and I'll be damned if they just take it from you. You built that legacy. I won't let you throw it away. And you love your clan and brethren. Just like I do. You're damn good at running things too! Let me help you finally and see what we can do. Besides…the Tashio's didn't raise me to just leave things on the negotiating table." She whispered conspiringly with a smirk.

Kouga grinned knowing exactly where she was going with this. How he thought he could give her up, was beyond common sense. He would need to think Inuyasha for beating some sense into him and Naraku maybe for giving him a tiny ounce of confidence to try again. At the cost of his ass getting handed to him and an IOU. With a yelp, Kagura found herself being positioned into bridal style. "Good thing I didn't give up my suite then. We're going to need it I presume." He muttered against her lips as she nodded enthusiastically.

Kagura laughed. "Put me down. Help me close up." She requested trying to not get caught up in the heated look he was giving her. "The faster we lock this place up the quicker we can get to mine across the street."

"Keh." Kouga fang gently brushed against her collarbone leaving a gentle reminder of what plans he had later and possibly where he would mark her. His hands dropped her and dragged over her derrière squeezing before letting her go. He held onto her for a little bit longer, taking in her scent and holding her in his arms. "I've already told my Clan elders my plans. Ayame can rule them now with my backing and standing out of the way. The sun will rise and you will be marked as mine by the morning." He warned her sultrily of what was to come.

Kagura bit her lip and nodded in agreement. How many times had they talked about this. He knew what she wanted and he came to deliver. His instincts always called to her and vice versa. She couldn't be with anyone else once she found him. She tried but failed. It was too much. And the same to him. And now they were together. Not wasting another minute of each other's time. "I'll get the rag and the bottle. You get the glass and my phone on the table."

They both walked over giddily and collected the items. Kouga reached for her phone and turned it around the see it flash angrily in his face. His brows drew in as he read the name on the screen. "Kagura?" He asked watching the woman bend and reach for the rag. She turned to face him and he watched the goofy expression she had disappear off of her face. The somber expression from before creeped up onto her face.

Her eyes read Touga's name flash on the screen for the 11th time that night. Along with Naraku's missed messages and calls. Clearly demanding more information. Kagura looked to Kouga and sighed. "Kouga…" She searched for words. She was done being cryptic. It wasn't her style anyway. And she wouldn't start their relationship off with hidden knowledge. "The Yomi's are coming I believe to hurt Kagome, Kikyo, and Rin. And my brother and I know the person that killed Hoshi and Tsuki Yomi."

Kouga's eyes darkened. His fang began protruding as his youkai flared and scanned her for lies and truths. Kagura closed her eyes and allowed him this regard. Everyone was hurt by the loss of Hoshi and Tsuki. Kouga was no different. He grunted in his ancient dialect and in return the wind whispered what he needed to know. His eyes closed for a minute before pulling her to him. His nose rested in her hair as he inhaled. "First we deal with us tonight. Then in the morning, we handle the rest. No one is going to hurt our pack." He growled out viciously as he held her close. The light of the phone shining brightly in the darkness as Touga's call went unanswered for the 12th time.
