This news didn't sit well with her. In fact, it started to make her head spin as she tried to wrap around the idea that the two were connected in some way.
'I-It's ridiculous! I've only known Bell for a few weeks maybe a month at best. B-but I can't get that name out of my head. Orion? Orion? Why do I think I know it from somewhere?'
She sat back into her chair, she quickly became aware she was shaking. 'Why am I shaking? T-This surely can't be…'
A cold shiver ran down her spine and throughout her body. Her mouth became dry as she looked around the group. Her eyes darted from Lili to Hestia and then to Mikoto and Welf. All of them were surrounding Bell laughing… She could hear it but that was it. No words came from their mouths even though their lips moved. As the seconds passed the laughter became drowned out by the oncoming silence. Her focus faded out to everyone but Bell at that moment. In this moment of uncertainty, her body cried out for air and as she opened her mouth to take a breath she stopped.
"B-Bell… O-Orion…"
She noticed it just before her vision faded. The blurry visage of Bell looking towards her, A confused stare as he went to say something. However, she didn't nay couldn't hear anything the last thing she became aware of was her body becoming light as a feather… before everything went pitch black.
"Hey hey, congrats Bell, Not gonna lie hearing Little Rookie all the time was kind of insulting but I think this new name suits you!" Welf wrapped his arm around his friend's neck before rubbing his knuckles through his hair.
Lili bolted to Bells aid at the first sight of discomfort, kicking the redhead to let him go. He simply ignored her before letting him go. Mikoto and Luna both confirmed their approval of his new Alias.
"He-he be careful Bell, you might have to change your name if it becomes too popular, but I agree it's much better then Little rookie by miles." Luna chirped up with a happy smile on her face.
Hestia was quick to notice the suggestion. 'Huh? That's a scary coincidence that…' Though it wasn't too far-fetched after all it was supposed to be something people could easily remember. It would take a while for both adventures and the public to get used to after all Little Rookie wasn't going to go away overnight.
While all this was going on around him Bell felt oddly confused. 'Orion huh? Why do I think I've heard that before?' He tried to think it had been recently, he knew that much because it was fresh in his memory...
'Ohhh that's right Tiona mentioned it to me! Ha-ha, funny little coincidence that. Now that I think about it she mentioned reading a book with the name in it? I should see about getting it off her maybe she's willing to trade for something.'
He made a mental note to ask her after today's training. Though he couldn't help but look forward to it. Unlike the day before he was now completely focused on training and he felt somewhat relieved that he and Artemis were back on speaking terms…
'Maybe a little more than that but…'
He pushed that thought out of his mind. He had enough of that for one week and he also didn't need to wake the pervert for another one of his lessons. He had more important things to focus on.
"B-Bell… O-Orion…"
Speaking of the blue-haired archer he turned to see why she was calling his name. Though he had to admit he was quite confused to hear Orion shortly after. Her eyes seemed to weave in and out of focus of his own.
"Artemis? Is something wrong?"
At this point, Hestia turned hearing Bell's question of concern towards her friend. She too was left concerned after seeing her friend becoming pale and her mouth opened but no words to be said. Her body swaying from side to side.
"BELL!"
He didn't need to be told twice. He was quick to notice her falling too far to one side thankfully he had moved closer to her after she didn't answer him, so he was beside her before she hit the floor. Everyone else became aware of this the moment Hestia shouted. Welf and Lili rushed over to make sure she was okay as was Ryu who was close by. As he held her, he worried but it quickly passed. Colour quickly returned to her pale face and her chest rose and fell showing she was breathing. To anyone that hadn't seen what happened, it would simple enough to say she was just sleeping.
Ryu and Hestia were beside him as they both looked at her. Hestia out of concern. For her friend and Ryu to make sure she wasn't injured in any way.
"Is she okay?" Ryu asked looking to the young man for answers.
"She's fine. Something similar happened upstairs… I guess she must still be tired."
Hestia sighed with relief. "Uhuh what were you two up to last night again?"
Bell went white as he felt both his goddess and Ryu giving him death glares. "Nothing w-we just went to sleep! No, wait it's not like that I…"
She didn't think Bell or Artemis would be so bold as to do anything but sleeping. But that didn't stop Ryu from pursuing him to make sure. Her gaze could kill as befitting her level four status. Bell found himself struggling to both keep himself and Artemis up as the elf waitress forced him back with her stare.
"Ryu you can leave him, I trust Bell besides I don't think it's entirely his blame." She said looking at her friend all she was missing is a small smile to show her plan had worked.
'Wouldn't have surprised me in the slightest. She's probably more cunning than me and Lili put together.'
She chuckled and got to her feet. "Come on Bell let's get her upstairs."
With a small nod of agreement, he moved his hands under her legs while holding her back with the other. The two made their way upstairs. Hestia was quick to push him towards his room and not her own. He would be lying if he said he was confused but didn't say anything. As they entered Hestia waited by the door as he placed her on the bed. Before closing the door behind them.
"Okay Bell, your gonna tell me what's been going on between you!"
Bell froze up the moment he heard Hestia's cold stern words. He swallowed heavily before turning toward her. Her arms were crossed as she tapped her finger against her skin as she waited for him to speak.
"I-I don't know what you…"
Hestia sighed. 'Typical Bell, I swear his innocence is just as annoying as it is cute!'
She wanted to bang her head against the door but instead choose against it.
"I want to know what's going on with the two of you? Your relationship with one another?" She was being blunt and to the point, but this was still Bell she was talking to.
"I-I-I…" He could barely come up with a response. She seemed angry at him for something, but she was also asking him strange questions it was confusing!
'Ughh maybe going hard on him was a bad idea…' she thought noticing his obvious confusion to the situation. She took a breath and eased her stance.
"Sit down Bell we're gonna have a talk… don't worry I'm not angry."
She pointed over towards the chair in the corner. He didn't need to say anything as he left the bed and went to sit on the chair.
Hestia made him spin it around so he was facing her.
"Okay Bell, Considering our conversation yesterday you ignored my orders to stay away from Artemis. Care to explain?"
He remembered. Hestia wanted him to focus on training and not worry about other issues. Though he felt it was a harsh request even from her.
"I-It was an accident Welf tricked…"
Hestia held out her hand and stopped him. "I already know about Welf and Mikoto's involvement. But to my knowledge, they only locked you in a room is that true?"
Bell nodded "Yes but." He tried to explain but Hestia stopped him again.
"But you still engaged in conversation with her of your own free will, when you could have otherwise turned your back and ignored her yes?"
Bell once again nodded and prepared to say something but this time Hestia placed her finger to his lips. "No talking just nod If it's true. Now did you or did you not ignore me and try to make up with Artemis?"
He nodded looking to the floor in shame. He knowingly went against his goddess and her orders. Even if they were unfair.
She smiled "Good."
He looked up "Huh?" He looked at her confused as she smiled happily at him.
"W-wait w-what? I thought you…"
Hestia shook her head. "I did say before that I wasn't angry at you. Seriously Bell relax I'm just messing with you."
He dropped his head before shaking it back and forth trying to get to grips with what's going on.
Hestia decided to answer it for him. "When I gave that order I was upset. As any friend would be when seeing their friend crying. I didn't want things to get any worse between you so wanted you to avoid one another as much as possible for the time being."
She looked over to the bed and smiled. "I told her the same thing. Seems you two are more similar than I originally thought."
"What do you mean goddess?"
She shook her head. "It's nothing. Any-ways it seemed she wanted to apologise as much as you but I'm guessing you already know that?"
He nodded. "Y-yeah we… We did."
"Tell me Bell what do you think of her? Personally, I mean. Don't worry I'm not asking as your goddess but as her friend."
How many people asked him this question now? He had given so many answers and yet he couldn't truly deny any of them to be false.
"I don't know… truly I don't. I've known her for so little time and yet…"
He went quiet. Of all the people he knew he had always felt confused about talking to. They didn't understand him or couldn't see his side of the problem. But Hestia was different. He had always trusted her, and she had always been kind and fair with him. She helped him constantly and would never betray him.
"Goddess… No H-Hestia…" it was strange to call her by her name. "Can I ask you something?"
She nodded. "Of course Bell what is it?"
"I-I ugh… Ugh…"
"It's okay Bell take your time." She reassured him by placing a hand in his knee and kneeling down, so she wasn't standing over him.
Bell nodded and took a quick breath. He calmed his body and mind as allowing him to think clearly.
"I've...I've been having these feelings… strange feelings towards her. Artemis, I mean. My heart flares up when she's nearby and and…"
She nodded continuing to hold onto his knee for support. Artemis had already admitted it to her. She was just waiting for Bell to realise his own. Though he still wasn't sure about them. He wasn't the kind of person to understand he was in love. But his body did and now those feelings were welling up inside him.
"It's okay Bell, I don't need to tell you that those feelings are natural. As her friend, I'll be the first to admit I was slightly jealous of her beauty."
He started glowing red as he couldn't help but agree with that statement even if he knows he shouldn't.
"Admit it Bell you find her attractive, don't you?"
He went even redder. "Y-yes."
"Do you like it when she gets closer to you?"
He nodded. Still blushing deeply.
"You like to hold her in your arms and make her feel safe?"
He didn't think his face could get much hotter. He was burning with so much embarrassment that even his firebolts seemed like a warm breeze in comparison. But he nodded he couldn't lie to her after all.
"Okay, Bell. Now answer me this. Why is it that I'm finding the two of you in the same bed?"
"Yes. Wait no I didn't mean that I!"
She avoided the urge to burst out laughing. "Ohh so you're not denying it. I must say as your goddess I'm disappointed in you!"
Bell all but flung himself at her feet. "I'm sorry I… It was an accident… I mean we...we…"
'I don't even know any more!'
Hestia had enough torturing him. It was the only thing she could do at this point. She wasn't mad.
'Besides Artemis is the real culprit.'
"Well, I suppose the blame isn't solely on you. I mean it's evident that someone wanted it as well."
Bell looked up.
"Answer me honestly Bell. When did you two start well sleeping next to one another?"
He didn't want to say. But he had to. So, he gave it a moment's thought. "W-When we went hunting… I… I got sick and she took care of me… It just sort of happened…"
She nodded. "Ughhh fine… It's not like I'll be able to stop it anyway besides Artemis isn't the nicest when it comes to taking what's hers."
"What's hers?" He asked a little worried by the tone of his goddess.
Before she could answer however a familiar groan filled the room and the two of them turned to the bed only to see the girl in question squeezing one of the pillows with all her might. Bell sighed seeing the normally calm and collected girl fight with an inanimate object but still found her struggle pretty cute.
"Well... If one thing her sleeping habits haven't changed..." Hestia chuckled remembering the times they used to sleep together. Her personality has mellowed but it was nice to see some things hadn't changed.
Bell meanwhile decided it would be nice to talk with his goddess a little more. 'We've barely spoken since Artemis arrived and even when we have its been brief...' With a heavy sigh, he turned to face her. "So, she was always like this?"
"Hmm? Yes, you could say that, though it was more fighting over the pillow than with it. But she was pretty determined not to lose it!"
Bell rubbed the back of his head remembering a certain comment about being a pillow. 'Ha-ha, I'm sure she didn't mean it..."
"Ahhh Bell stay still!"
Both of them jumped upon hearing her voice expecting to turn around and see her awake and confused. However, they both sighed when they sore her clung to the pillow with her face buried into it. Both found it funny until it hit Bell.
'What did she mean by Bell stay still?' He looked back to his goddess. 'She hasn't said anything? Maybe I was just imagining it..."
Artemis began to stir up again this time rolling over to her side the pillow still in her arms. "Bellll go back to sleep!"
He could feel it. He didn't need to turn to his side he could just tell. That teasing look from his goddess was plastered on her face just waiting for him to make a move or a sound. His face was red with embarrassment not believing that she would ever say such a thing out loud.
'S-Shes dreaming a-about M-me!' The very thought made him both happy and worried. Not that he was upset in any way, far from it. No. He felt he shouldn't be listening to her while she was so vulnerable. So he quickly heads for the door.
He closed the door behind him so he couldn't hear anything else. He leaned back against the wall in silence. It was brief and he took a deep breath.
"Bell?" Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Welf coming towards him. He smiled and gave him a quick wave but didn't say anything.
The redhead headed over to him after seeing him exiting his room. Though he did wonder why he looked so sluggish. "You okay, you're not feeling ill or anything?"
He shook his head but didn't say anything. Though this didn't do much to put him at ease. Welf just seemed to be looking him over before shrugging nonchalantly.
"Okay, what's up, you're never this quiet? Don't tell me you two had another fight again." He was joking of course trying to lighten the mood a little, but it didn't seem to have that effect. Bell just sighed pushing himself of the wall.
"I'm okay Welf don't worry about me… I-I'm gonna get going do me a favour and keep her safe will you?"
Welf nodded and let him pass. Though he couldn't tell if he was okay or not. Knowing Bell, it was probably nothing so he just went about his own business.
Hestia continued to wait by the bed for her friend to wake up. Though she debated speeding up the process and waking her up herself. Though there was a good reason not to.
'Ohh she's gonna kill me but…' She looked down. Artemis continued her battle with the pillow also known as 'Bell' A fact that was hilarious to the small goddess. Seeing her normally composed and sometimes serious friend being so giddy was a pleasant surprise.
"Bell… Why do want to be with Aiz so much?"
Hestia sighed. 'Figures she'd be jealous, so that's why she's been so clingy towards him. Guess I should explain to her it's a necessary evil. '
She felt bad, not knowing exactly what was wrong with her. Last thing she need was her getting bedridden for the wargame… But at the same time, she needed to train if they stood any chance of winning. Reluctantly she took the risk and began shaking her body.
"Come on wake-up sleepy head."
"Ughh huh?" It didn't take much to stir her from her sleep if you could call it that. Though she didn't fully come around. Instead she acted like it was her imagination before curling back up. So, Hestia decided to take a different approach.
Her face curled into a smile as she grabbed hold of the pillow. "Bell Aiz is here? If you don't hurry, she'll leave without you." With great ease she managed to wiggle the pillow free from her grasp.
"NO!" Artemis shot up reaching her hand out only to be left speechless upon seeing her friend waving something in her face.
"Looking for this?" Hestia flung her pillow which just landed at her feet. Artemis blushed heavily unable to say anything.
Hestia got to her feet crossing her arms and looking down at her friend. "Soo what were you dreaming about?"
"N-Nothing particular!" Her blush hadn't faded whatsoever. Though she was becoming aware of this she decided to quickly change the subject. " Where are we anyways?"
"Bell's room".
Her friend tensed and looked around the room as if to confirm it for herself. She finally stopped holding her breath and clenched the cover.
"W-why?"
Hestia shrugged. "Well, you fainted for no apparent reason and…"
"No, I mean why his room!" The girl cut her off.
Hestia smiled "Well... I always find you in here, so I thought you'd prefer it."
"N-no!" She slammed her hands into her lap. She let go of the cover.
"Hmm could I be mistaken? Or perhaps it's for another reason?" She leaned closer causing Artemis to retreat backwards.
"W-what no your just mistaken!" Trying to end the conversation there was her only hope. However, Hestia wasn't gonna give up.
"Hmm no I'm sure there's a reason why else would you sneak out."
The two went quiet, Artemis began to pray. 'Please don't let her work it out! Shell call me a hypocrite if she realises I come in here to sleep with Bell…'
What she didn't know was that Hestia did know it and she knew both her and Bell enjoyed it. Artemis was a girl in love, her reasons were obvious.
Her smiled turned to an evil smirk "I'm guessing it involves your Bell pillow. Am I right?"
Artemis eyes went wide before her face became momentary bright. "HESTIA!"
She burst out laughing seeing her friend explode. "Hahahaa sorry but it was too obvious."
She nearly fell to the floor in a fit of laughter. Only being able to steady herself by holding onto the chair. However, Artemis saw fit to kick that support causing her to slam into the ground.
"Gurhh! What did you do that for!"
She looked up only to realise her mistake in teasing her best friend. Artemis lunged from the top of the bed before landing on top of her.
"How did you find that out!" The former goddess looked down upon her new goddess though she didn't care Hestia wasn't gonna use it against her.
Hestia gulped "You talk in your sleep… I just overheard it okay. Bell can…!" She quickly clamped her mouth shut however she was too late.
"B-Bell overheard! Please tell me he didn't! Please, please tell me he…" she didn't say anything. She didn't need to the answer was obvious.
"..."
She got off her friend and grabbed the cover wrapping it around herself before planting her head into the mattress.
What came next could only be described as a muffled scream. Followed by a mixture of tossing and turning along with incomprehensible cries. This continued for a few minutes before she slowly but surely calmed down allowing Hestia to interject.
"Hey hey it's okay. It's not like you said anything embarrassing…" she lied knowing full well Bell couldn't handle the thought.
"Where is he?"
She looked to the door. "I...I don't know. He left shortly after you… you…"
She couldn't see her friend but it was obvious what was going through her head.
"He left after hearing me didn't he?"
Hestia shook her head not that it did much good. "N-no it wasn't like that he had to go train."
"With Aiz? Of course, after all who else could it be!" Her jealousy was coming through again but this time she was aware.
"It always seems to involve her. Guess you were right after all. Sh-She…" Tears began to well up in her eyes. Her voice being the only indication of her sadness and frustration.
"Curse her! Curse love! Curse All of it!"
Hestia let out a heavy sigh. "Ughh your only cursing yourself, idiot. You're the one that fell for him remember!"
Artemis continued to cry but didn't show her face as she faced the wall but dropped the cover so she could speak freely.
"Yeah… For someone that was already in love it was obvious from the start, yet I allowed myself to believe it anyway…"
Hestia nodded "Yeah…But Artemis he…"
She dropped her head. "Hestia don't… It's obvious he doesn't have feelings for me… He was just being friendly!"
This was becoming annoying for Hestia. As she had made the mistake of trying to quell the girl's fire. Only for it to explode in her face. She needed Artemis to see things weren't always so black and white.
"You know what Artemis yeah Bell does love Aiz in fact he's pretty much had a crush on her since day one." She began to pace around the room as she spoke.
"Nobody is gonna deny that. Not me, not Lili or anyone else that has a crush on him! But you know what all those same people have looked at you the same way!"
Artemis didn't react far more the A "huh?"
Hestia continued "Yeah you might not have seen it but Bell showed more time and care to you then anyone else, that includes Aiz."
She took a brief pause to catch her breath.
"After your fight what did you think he did? Your gonna say go train with Aiz but the truth is he wanted to know if you were okay. He was going to go so far as to refuse a direct order! The only reason he didn't was because Aiz dragged him out!"
Hestia sat back into the chair out of breath. Artemis didn't say anything how could she? In her head she was still trying to process it all.
"You want my opinion? I think he does love you."
Artemis shook her head "Hestia please don't…"
"I see the way he looks at you Artemis how he talks about you. It's different to everyone else."
She clenched the cover as tears rolled down her face slowly dripping onto the fabric. "No your mistaken, we're just friends... That's all he sees me as… just a friend."
Hestia wishes she could just slap some scenes into her friend but that wasn't gonna happen all she could do was prove her point.
"Friends don't share beds Artemis…"
"We did!"
Hestia could only hit her face with her palm. "That was different… Besides even if that's the case whys it only you hmm? Because I know for a fact I didn't get that honour. I know Lili didn't, Syr, Ryu or hell even Welf didn't."
"Yet when I turn around you two are practically hand in hand. Head to chest. Arms wrapped around each other. Tell me when was the last time we did that?"
Artemis thought about it. She thought long and hard. But she never could remember a time like that. Yeah, they shared a bed, but it was just that nothing more.
"Okay but that doesn't mean he..."
Hestia interested once again. "Didn't want it… Come on Artemis you don't think I haven't tried. You'd know if he didn't want it! Welf told me about last night. Now tell me why did you move into Bells room?"
Artemis blushed but couldn't answer that question. She shook her head as her response.
Hestia just got back to her feet and looked at her back. All this time she hadn't bothered to turn around.
"So yeah I think he loves you. I know you love him yet he's too oblivious to see it. I bet he's having the same thoughts about you…"
Artemis finally turned her head to face her. She had all but stopped crying what faint remnants of tears had dried up. "He loves Aiz you said so yourself…"
Hestia nodded. "Yeah, I did. I also said that he fell for someone else… Someone that was able to get him to stop thinking about her for once."
She leaned towards her friend and held her hand. Giving a light squeeze. "I was talking about you Artemis. From day one I knew just by the way he looked at you."
"Hestia…"
"You don't want to believe it… that's fine, this is Bell we're talking about…He probably hasn't fully realised it yet…"
She brought her friend into a warm embrace. Her way of reassuring her. Artemis was quick to accept it knowing full well she had little choice. Though one thing was still on her mind.
"Hestia? I have a question it's been bothering me since you said it?"
Hestia let go giving herself some distance so they could speak easily. "What is it?"
She looked to the window, a small ray of light shining through. It touched her skin with a subtle warmth. It helped her to focus.
"Orion. I know that name, yet I can't place my finger on where."
Hestia's eyes widened in shock. 'Of all the little bits of information she could remember the had to remember that one!'
She didn't want to be seen as suspicious so it was better to play dumb.
"Ohh how so?"
The blue-haired girl started playing with her hair. Twirling it in her fingers without any real care. "I know little about the months before arrived in Orario or the circumstances surrounding it…"
"To tell the truth the truth I've been having strange dreams…"
The large breasted goddess leaned forward. "Strange dreams?"
She nodded "Y-yes at first I thought nothing of them. Until I realised they shared certain similarities."
"A lake in a moonlit night. A white rabbit constantly evading my grasp and a name. Orion…"
She took a deep breath… "and now Bell shares that name. Something I randomly dreamed up. But now I'm wondering if there's a connection to the two."
Hestia scrambled to her feet. "Yayoi can't possibly know that!"
Seeing her friends' reaction was quite surprising. Though she checked in response.
"Ha-ha forgive me Hestia I was only speculating. I'm certain I'd remember Bell if we meet previously. Besides I just wanted to know why you chose the name?"
Hestia laughed rubbing the back of her neck buying her a moment to come up with an excuse. "Ohhh well it just popped into my head was all and it sounded better than rabbit boy so…"
Artemis nodded "Yes I suppose it does. I agree it is fitting for him and it has a nice ring to it. Orion. Orrion. Hehe maybe I'll call him it from now on."
Hestia let out a little laugh. "Ha-ha yeahhhhh…"
'Ohh heavens what have I done!'
Hestia shook her head realising they had been here longer then needed. She had already told Welf and the rest to wait so they couldn't keep them any longer.
"Well we should get going… Can't win if we don't train huh."
She agreed and got to her feet as they reached the door Hestia felt a switch flick in her brain. And a way to motivate Artemis.
"Say how about we have a little bet. You know like old times?"
Artemis stopped and looking a little taken aback by her suggestion. "Hmm, what's the bet?"
Hestia shook her head. "No, no first are you in or out. Don't want you getting cold feet!"
This didn't sit well with her. It was most likely a trap in some way Hestia always tried it. Though she did find fun in avoiding them. "Fine, what do you have in mind?"
Hestia evil smile came out. "Ohh it's simple really it involves the wargame…"
"How so?" Her friend ask the anticipation killing her.
"Well let's see… should you win your match in the wargame you can ask any one thing of me."
Artemis smiled "Standard, very well and if I should somehow lose?"
Hestia smiled and turned to the door. "Ohh well in that case." She pushed it open taking one step out the door. "You have to kiss Bell."
Artemis stopped suddenly. Her body frozen in place from sheer shock.
"K-kiss B-bell?"
Hestia was already halfway towards the stairs before she turned around. "Yes, kiss Bell, think of it as a consolation prize."
The former goddess went bright red at the thought of losing. In fact, she found the idea both ridiculous and tempting. Though she quickly shook that idea from her head.
'Won't lose! Just you wait Hestia I'll be sure to make you regret this when you lose!'
The challenge was set, and the Familia went about preparing for the upcoming hurdle. Bell, Aiz and Tiona focused on training both his reactions and physical strengths. The thought of two of the most honed adventures in Orario staring you down. Most would have jumped at the chance and most would have jumped off the wall then take another one of Tiona's beatings.
Bell however didn't. He stuck with it and slowly but surely, he was becoming used to her attacks. Able to dodge them which only fuelled the girl's fire. The Amazon found it more like a game of cat and mouse or in this case tiger and rabbit.
To Bell that was terrifying enough; one punch when she was too into it and that was it, he'd be out for the count. However, she wasn't the only problem. No there was the sword princess.
"Your guard is down!"
His eyes went wide as his back foot hit the ground. But it was too late. What felt like a warm summer breeze went past him and before he knew it, she had kicked him to the floor. The speed and power forced him onto his back with and she placed her sword to his throat.
"You're not paying enough attention to your surroundings."
He didn't know what hurt more. The pain in his side or the sword princess comments. It was an uphill battle all the time. When he managed to at least get the hang of Tiona, Aiz would suddenly appear a take him out in a single blow.
"I know I know but it's hard to be on the defensive all the time."
He tried to make his point but it did little to win him any sympathy from the girls.
"That's your problem Orionnn your always focused in blocking. How many openings did you think I left when I was attacking you huh!"
Now Tiona was standing over him. Though he failed to mention that he could see up her skirt. He quickly turned his head away with a faint blush on his face.
"Hey are you even listening?"
Unable to look he simply grumbled "Yes".
Tiona wondered why he wasn't looking at her, though with further inspection she realised just how close she was to his head. If he did decided to look up he'd have a clear view.
'Such a gentleman, though I wouldn't have minded if he did…'
While every part of her wanted to tease him about it that wasn't a viable option. At least not while Aiz could hear.
'She's no fun… We both want to help him but that doesn't mean we have to train constantly!'
She looked over to blond beauty. So stoic in everything she did. Readying for another round. Meanwhile still facing away from her Bell didn't look like he wanted another ass-kicking. Feeling sorry for him she looked to her friend for compassion.
"Maybe we should take a break Aiz. Another punch or kick and something might break."
Aiz didn't seem at all convinced. "He asked to be trained. So, we train him."
She drew desperate and took a battle stance. "Get up Bell!"
Bell nodded attempting to get to his feet however a sharp pain rapidly spread through his right side. He clenched the worst affected area before climbing to his feet. His breathing abruptly got heavier as clenched his left fist as it continued to flare up.
Tiona could tell it wasn't a good sign. Bell wasn't the smartest when it came to self-preservation. The whole Minotaur fight was more than enough proof of that. But it was sheer stupidity that he'd even try to fight in such a state.
"Bell sit down and rest." The Amazon ordered. Though he was reluctant to when Aiz gave him a contradicting glance.
"No you need to train. Now ready yourself!" Her voice ordered firmly. Though she wasn't expecting her friend and comrade to step in her way.
"Move Tiona! He wants to become stronger and the only way he's gonna do that is if he fights!"
"Still" she stood firm "He's injured and if you keep this up you might as well hand Apollo the win. If he breaks something or takes more damage then he can handle there's no way he'll be able to defend himself let alone fight back!"
Aiz looked past her. She felt bad after sewing the obvious injury her last attack caused. Though she believed it would quickly pass. "Bell can you still fight?"
"Y-yeah." The pain had yet to fade but he was determined to continue training. He tried to take a step and instantly regretted his decision. Stumbling into Tiona who managed to catch him.
"Right that's it your resting!" She turned to look at Aiz. "You wanted to help him so get out of your battle mode and show some compassion!"
As gently as she could she placed him against the wall and quickly pulled up his shirt to see the extent of the damage. His right side was completely red and a faint shade of purple. She pressed against it with her hand receiving a cry of pain.
"Well I don't think its broken but…" she gave him a small reassuring smile. "I'm sure you'll be fine."
She removed her hand before getting to her feet. "Hey Aiz, you got any potions or ointment? Right now he just needs something for the pain?"
The sword princess shook her head. She hadn't brought any due to her not thinking something like this would happen.
"Well well so this is where you two went?"
Both the girls felt a shiver go down their spine. Their faces went white as they turned to the new arrival. Tiona was the first to speak up.
"Ha-ha… hey Riveria w-what are you doing here…" Her nervous laugh was more than a dead giveaway at how much she wished she could run.
The tall elf women crossed her arms "I could ask you two the same question. I'm sure I made myself clear when I said not to get involved in another Familia's business."
The amazoness gulped loudly as she looked to Aiz for support. "Y-yeah but you said nothing about helping our friends so."
Riveria narrowed her eyes.
"I mean we Ummm I've got nothing…" she said dropping her head.
Aiz remained quiet but also looked to the floor. Riveria just let out a heavy sigh.
"Ughh really after all the hassle I've gone through this last week. Meetings with the guild, trying to find us a home. Do you know what hassle I went through just so we can go on jobs!"
Her long lecture went on for a while. So much so that even felt bad and partly responsible for both of them.
"And to top it all off your deliberately disobey me. A part of me thinks I should treat you like a child again!"
Aiz looked horrified at the thought. She was close to grovelling at the elf's feet. Riveria was about to continue until she met the young boy's gaze.
"Ahh I forgot you was still here… Sorry but this is a private matter would you mind…."
"He can't!" Tiona jumped in before she could finish. "We may have gone a little too hard on him and he got injured. He can barely walk."
Riveria didn't say anything instead making her way over to him. She knelt down beside him and raised a hand. "May I?"
He nodded allowing her to lift his shirt up. She took a quick moment to look at the wound but didn't seem too bothered as she began to cast a spell. Her hand glowed and slowly but surely the purplish skin regressed and by the time she had finished all but disappeared.
'I swear every time I meet this boy I always end up healing him.'
"There how does it feel?"
Bell began to move a little and was happy that all the pain had disappeared. "Great thank you."
Riveria smiled "Your welcome, though you should take care with who you train with."
He nodded and Tiona looked him over. "Wow Riveria you really can be motherly when you want to be".
The green haired elf gave her another death glare before clipping her over the head. "Another word out of you and I'll burn all your books!"
A sad looking Tiona nodded running her fingers over her lips in a zipping motion. Riveria meanwhile got back to her feet and sighed heavily.
"I feel kind of bad coming and ruining your training. However, they weren't supposed to be here at all. Still it's not your fault…"
She looked at both Aiz and Tiona. "Fine… Aiz your coming with me, Tiona you stay and finish your training. Aiz you can do the same tomorrow."
The two girls smiled brightly as their joy returned to them. Both of them spoke at the same time "Thank you Riveria."
"Hmm what you thanking me for after this wargame business is over you won't be seeing him for a long time."
Both of them looked at her confused, then horrified. "You wouldn't!"
She gave them both an evil smile "Ohh but I can and will. You see as your temporary captain I call the shots!"
She turn around and headed over to Aiz grabbing her by the ear and pulling her along. "Come on you we have a job to get to!"
Bell watched as the golden-haired girl was dragged away leaving him and Tiona to themselves. Speaking of the latter she has realised that the two of them were alone and she need not hold her tongue.
"So since we have a minute what did you think?"
He was unsure as to what she was implying to so he simple shifted his head to the side.
Tiona let out a little giggle shaking her head. "Don't worry about it…"
She skipped off to the side but unexpectedly tipped over falling to her hands. Luckily, she didn't fall flat on her face but the fact of the matter was she was in a very compromising position. A position that allowed Bell another perfect glimpse of her panties.
For the briefest of moments Bell found himself blinking in disbelief. Though he suddenly remembered his morals and covered his eyes quickly. Though he swore he could hear a taunting laugh in the back of his head.
"Hehe did you get a good look Bellll?" The Amazonian sounded more than a little happy at her little slip up. So much so that when he removed his hands she began to wiggle her ass causing him to glow red.
"T-Tiona W-why are you… "
*I think she's trying to tell you something Bell!*
He ignored that comment, looking away. "C-can we get back to training please!"
"Ohh your no fun! Fine don't think I'm gonna go easy on you though!" She said smiling, either way she was gonna have some fun. Shame this way caused more injuries for the men involved.
Meanwhile at the Pantheon…
"I see so it's agreed then. The coliseum will be the venue, Areas for each Familia will be allocated for them. Along with an emergency centre for those in desperate need of healing."
Royman quickly scouted the many pages in front of him picking out a few piece of parchment from the pile.
"Riviera has offered her services and will be on standby on the day. Lady Freya and her Familia will be providing both security and peacekeeping throughout the event. She has special permission to intervene should any of the parties step out of line!"
Hermes and Freya were both present at the talks along with Ganesha and Riveria as the representative for Loki. Eina was also present though only to observe.
Hermes looked to Royman. "Don't you think this is a bit much? I get the need to be cautious, but do we really need the Freya Familia?"
Royman sighed. "I don't want to, it's an expense I would rather avoid however given the known tension between the two gods and their children, I can't ignore the potential problem. Besides the regular spectators have a tendency to get rowdy at such events especially since we're allowing gambling!"
Freya chuckled. "Always looking to turn a profit aren't you, no doubt you promised the best seats for your generous sponsors!"
The fat elf folded his arms. "The fact that many of the gods do everything in their powers to withhold the agreed upon share to the guild. So, I find it only fair that those who do get special privileges."
Freya continued to smile as she tried not to yawn. "And as one of your biggest providers I'll assume that such privileges apply to myself?"
Royman began to sweat trying his best to avoid her gaze. "Y-yes of course lady Freya… Ugh moving on."
He picked up another piece of paper and cleared his throat. "Since the finer details have been left to the guild any entrance fees and profit made from the event will be ours. As agreed, should Lady Hestia lose, all members will be handed over to the Apollo Familia at which point they will be forced to change allegiances. Anyone that joined and is unable to change will still be handed over. Lady Hestia will be held by the guild until such a time that the change can be made."
He coughed and moved another piece forward. "And if Lord Apollo should lose, Lady Hestia will be able to freely request for any and everything from him. This includes all financial assets, Familia members, property and status of Apollo himself."
Ganesha raised his hand. "Given Apollos slimy nature, what happens if he attempts to flee before the final result?"
Royman looked to Freya. "None of the gods will be allowed to leave the Colosseum. Another one of Freya's familia duties on the day. If the situation arises that one of them has fled, then all assets will be handed to the other party."
All those present nodded and the elf quickly gathered all the papers together handing them over to Eina. "Make sure their filed with the correct division!"
She nodded and quickly left the room shortly followed by Genesha and Riveria. Royman remained seated as he kept looking at another stack of papers. Though he was fully aware at the two remaining gods in the room.
"Is there something else I can help you with?"
Hermes was the first to speak. "It's about the whole Loki situation. Surely enough time has passed that a search party should be dispatched?"
Royman didn't look up from his papers signing one after another only giving a grunt in response. "It's the responsibility of her Familia to find her, if she isn't found by them and 2 months have passed then the guild will seize all assets and her Familia will be asked to join another Familia."
"Should I take it, that's the guild's official response?" Freya spoke up a little disappointed in the elf's otherwise disrespectful attitude.
"Ughh". Royman dropped his pen and looked up at them. "Don't take this the wrong way lady Freya but I don't remember you and Loki having that much of a close relationship. I would have thought you'd be happy with the disappearance of a potential rival."
He turned to Hermes. "As for my opinion on the matter, need I remind you of the problems going on in this city? We are stretched thin enough as it is, having to relocate those affected by the recent attack!"
He tried to remain composed and professional though his annoyance was starting to slip out. "And to top it all off this blasted wargame has all but eaten what little time and manpower we would otherwise have!"
A chilling aura filled the room penetrating him to the bone and forcing him to cower in his chair. He could barely breath as Freya inched ever closer towards him.
"You may be the head of the guild Royman but don't think you're untouchable! Your position is just as expendable as that of your underlings!"
He gulped and nodded not saying anything as he felt the cushion strain under the force pushing against it. Freya quickly eased off.
"Since the guild won't intervene in the matter, I suppose it falls to us gods to find her. I'll assume you won't have any objections to that?"
Her once again shock his head as fast as he could. "N-no problem at all."
She smiled "Excellent, now if you excuse me, I have more important matters to attend to." With that she quickly left the room and was escorted away by her Familia. Hermes let out a sigh of relief and looked to the still cowering elf.
"If you excuse me, I have a meeting with Ouranos. Keep up the good work." Hermes waved as he closed the door behind him. Royman sank down his chair and quickly undid his collar.
"Why did I take this job…"
Deep below the guild building.
"Long time no see Ouranos."
Ouranos looked down from his dimly lit throne, staring at the god below a small frown on his face.
Hermes removed his hat before rubbing the back of his head. "You know you could be a little more cheerful once in a while?"
"What do you want Hermes? Shouldn't you be helping that pet project of yours?" Ouranos spoke his voice echoing endlessly throughout the empty room.
Hermes raised his arms and dropped his head "Alas there's only so much I can do to help Hestia and her children. Though I have done all I can the rest is up to them."
The older god grumbled at his response followed with a tired sigh. "Then why are you here?"
Hermes' smile disappeared, replaced by a stern and serious face. "It's about Loki's disappearance and the recent attacks on the city."
Ouranos lifted his head up showing a small amount of interest in the new topic. "We already established they were connected in some way… Yet we haven't had a single clue to their identities."
The messenger god nodded. "Technically speaking I have nothing new to report, it's more of a theory." He walked closer to the throne standing just at the foot of the stairs.
"You don't have to say it… Evilus correct?"
Hermes nodded "Yes, though nothing points to them directly who else would be so bold as to attack the city and more importantly have a big enough grudge to attack Loki personally?"
Ouranos rubbed his short white beard for a moment thinking on the suggestion. "The only time they have been so bold was the dark days… Never have they openly revealed themselves. Plus, certain members have been watched and have shown no signs of group planning…"
He paused for a moment. 'If it was them, they would have made it clear… Nothing about the attack on Loki shows signs to it being them. Perhaps a small splinter group but… No, they wouldn't have the manpower the only reason they even tried it last time was because of Alfia and Zard.'
He took a short breath and turned his attention back to the other god. "There's no way of knowing who caused the attack or why. Right now, the last thing we want to do is poke what might be a sleeping beast."
Hermes crossed his arms deep in thought "What if the attack was intentional… To get us to react?"
Ouranos nodded "Stoke the fires of fear in the public and have us point the blame to an old enemy. No Loki and Freya being the last pillars of stability we'd be open to attack?"
"Rakia! You don't think they'd join forces, would you?"
Ouranos shook his head. "No, I doubt it, Ares didn't try it in the dark days. However, this may be a sign of things to come. If Rakia is on the move what better time to do it then now."
Hermes clenched his fist. "Damn it of all the times for Loki to go missing! The guild is stretched thin as it is and with the wargame going on, we could lose another potential Familia."
Ouranos let out a heavy sigh. "Yes, it seems this new enemy is smarter than they originally seemed. Though we now know their plan we can plan accordingly."
Hermes nodded. "I'm planning a small expedition with what's left of the Loki Familia once this wargame business is over, of course. Wouldn't want to miss the outcome?"
Ouranos nodded "I'm sure you wouldn't… It which case I ask while you're gone to keep an ear to the ground. If Rakia is coming then we need to know where they are and when they will arrive."
The messenger god nodded in agreement but before he left he turned back. "Ohh about that other thing you asked me to look into. Hephaestus confirmed a piece was missing. Just thought you should know."
And with that he left the chamber of prayer leaving Ouranos to think.
'I don't like this. Loki's disappearance. Rakia's potential invasion and most confusing of all the sudden appearance of Artemis… Why now?'
"Fels!" He called out to the shadows as a hooded figure walked out. Their robs were black as night and torn at the edges. They stood at the stairs and bowed before him.
"Yes lord Ouranos?"
The old god began tapping the arm of his throne as he leaned back into it.
"I have a new task for you."
As the day passed by and the evening sun began to set the members of the Hestia Familia finished their training for the day. Luna and Welf returned from the dungeon worn out but proud of the progress they had made. They sat at one of the tables splitting the share from the loot they had collected. As their drinks arrived another pair walked in from the back. Equally worn out as them.
Mikoto and Artemis remained behind at the hostess and were allowed to use the back as a training ground. Artemis was quick to master the basics even though they were never foreign to her, though it was always a good thing to return to. The same couldn't be said to anything more advanced. The girl may have lived for all existence but that didn't mean she was perfect at everything. The bruises on her arms and legs were clear signs Mikoto held the advantage over her. Age didn't mean skill and Mikoto made that clear.
Hestia and Lili had left later that day and had yet to return leaving the others to themselves. Though no one had seen Bell ever so they decided to wait for them to return. Welf waved over one of the waitress to get them some more drinks as they all sat down together.
"Miss Mikoto don't you think you might have gone a little hard on Artemis?"
Mikoto looked a little confused at the sudden comment looking to Welf for clarification. He intern nodded confirming her comment. "Well she is pretty beaten up, hell even the monsters didn't get that many hits off on Luna. What the hell were you two doing anyway?"
Artemis murmured something though nobody was able to make it out. When Luna asked her to speak up, she simply turned her head in embarrassment. Mikoto rubbed her forehead before explaining.
"It seems the former goddess failed to mention she hates losing. A fact I learned full well after she refused to stay down!" Her annoyed tone was directed at the girl in question who didn't look at them.
"Seriously we were barely two hours into training, and you could barely lift a wooden sword. The fact we had to keep pulling poor Ryu away to heal her was bad enough. In the end she was forced to run an errand and well as you can see she still hasn't learned."
Artemis was now a bright shade of red and her face was pretty much hidden under the table. When Chole arrived with her drinks she chuckled to herself. "Hehe, you missed quite the show. I've never seen such determination, I'd have cried if it wasn't so funny no wonder Syr lost to her she just doesn't know when to quit!"
A voice came from under the table "Please stop…"
Mikoto sighed "That's exactly what you should have done. Consider this punishment for not learning that."
Luna and Welf both began to sweat as Mikoto began to lecture the former goddess on her one tracked way of thinking. Luna leaned over to Welf "Remind me never to get on her bad side."
Welf gulped "Yeah same here."
"Arghh seriously I wish I had known beforehand you were going to be this stubborn! Seriously know when to admit defeat."
Artemis mumbled again but quickly replied "Okay" Lifting her head up onto the table. Quickly grabbing hold of the mug and chugging it back. A sight which left all watching amazed. Before they knew it the glass hit the table emptied of its contents.
Welf looked over to Chloe "I think you best keep them coming…"
The night went on and on and before Hestia and Lili returned. Upon seeing her friend more than a little drunk she ordered her to bed something she was a little less than happy about. Though with the help of Mikoto and Lili they managed to lock her in Hestia's room.
"Ughh seriously that was more than a hassle! Why didn't you tell us she got like this when she drinks?" Lili asked looking to Hestia who was equally confused.
"Because I've never seen her drink. Ever! I didn't think she even liked alcohol."
Mikoto fell to her knees at the foot of Hestia. "I'm sorry, we allowed her to get like this. We just assumed she could hold her drink…"
Both Lili and Hestia shook their heads. Hestia just looked tired as she motioned for Mikoto to stand up. "It could have been worse… At least no one tried to hit on her, I dread to think how her drunk rage would play out."
Before she could continue a loud bang came from the other side of the door followed quickly by the cries of Artemis. "HESTIAAAA LET ME OUT!"
Lili and Mikoto looked to her hoping she would know what to do in this situation… She didn't!
"No Artemis your drunk, so lay down and get some sleep." Her stern voice echoed throughout the hallway but it did little to calm her.
"I'M not 'HIck" Drunk! LET MEEE OUTTT"
Hestia placed her hand over her face and shook her head. "Why did I have to come back to this…"
The banging on the door shortly subsided and the three girls thought she might have gotten tired and given up. They waited a moment before turning for the stairs until…
"BELL YOU CHEATER!"
They stopped and looked at the door confused. "Did anyone else hear that!"
The three of them looked at one another confused; the cries had silenced but Hestia was certain she heard her Bell's name. She decided to open the door slowly only to throw it open in shock!
"OHH NO!"
"What's wrong?" Lili called out only to see Hestia run past her and Mikoto shooting down the stairs at breakneck pace. Mikoto decided to look in the room with a surprised "OHH!"
The window in Hestia's room was fully open and Artemis was nowhere to be found.
"A-Artemis? W-what are you doing?!" The familiar cries of Bell came from below sending Lili into protective mode."
Within seconds she was at the bottom of the stairs alongside Hestia who gobsmacked at what she was seeing. Lili's Mouth hit the floor. "W-WHAT IS SHE DOING TO MASTER BELL!"
Moments earlier.
"Thank you for the training today Tiona and the for the advice. I'm sorry I got you and Aiz in trouble…"
Tiona shock her head her smile never one fading. "Ohh don't Be like that… I enjoyed himself besides." She grabbed his arm pulling herself as close as she could to him. "I've just collected my payment!" Bell went a bright red as the girl glued herself to his arm though he was more worried what people would say as they got closer to the hostess.
"He-he what's wrong? You've gone all red?"
Bell gulped "N-Nothing… Umm do you have to hold on to my arm like this?"
Just as he said it he got a sharp pain in said arm as she began to tighten her hold on it. "I've just said its payment for me helping you…" her smile faded, and she almost looked like she was gonna cry. Though before that happened Bell tried to fix the situation.
"N-No It's just… Isn't there something else you want as payment? Preferably less painful?"
Tiona's face lit up as she looked at him with a childish grin. "Okay, in that case... I want a Kiss!"
Bell froze on in place. His face became a crimson red as he felt the amazon rub herself against his arm. "A-A Kiss?"
Tiona inched closer getting closer to his cheek. Bell felt a cold shiver down his back. Almost as if a faraway force was angered by this. He closed his eyes expecting something to happen.
"Huh what is that girl doing?"
He opened his eyes and looked up. He didn't realise they had already reached the hostess. Though he breathed a sigh of relief as he looked for his saviour. Though when he followed line of sight, he instantly went white."
"BELL YOU CHEATER!"
The window to Hestia's room was fully opened and Artemis was all but hanging out of it. Though the moment it looked like she was gonna fall out he broke free of Tiona's hold. His first thought was to try and catch her though what he wasn't expecting was for her to steady herself.
His eyes went wide as she jumped out the window. "A-Artemis? W-what are you doing?!"
The blue haired girl came flying at him as he tried his best to catch her. Though in the end she just ended up landing on him. "URGh ouch!"
"Bell are you okay?" Tiona rushed over to his side as she watched the events unfold. Though she was quite surprised to see the girl on top of him. "Ohh its you…"
Artemis looked up to see the girl standing before them. Though she wasn't at all happy to see her. Instead choosing to glare at her instead.
"WHAT IS SHE DOING TO MASTER BELL!" Bell raised his head to see Lili and Hestia inside the pub looking at him. Though at first, he was more than a little confused until he not finally looking at the awkward position, Artemis had decided to position herself on him. Her entire body was sitting on his lower half and to anyone looking it might seem rather bold of her.
He gulped taking in the sight for a moment. Though his eyes went wide as he felt her slowly start to move. Something that started to stimulate his lower half. His face lit up as tried to find a way out the situation.
"Humph!" Artemis continued to look at the girl in front of her. She had noticed her and Bell walking down the street arm in arm. Something inside of her awoke and she instantly found herself disliking the girl. "What were you doing to my Bell?!"
Bell wasn't paying attention as he was more worried about something else then to listen. Though Tiona heard it loud and clear. "Ohh Your Bell? I don't remember him saying anyone had a claim on him?"
She reached for his arm and pulled him out from under her. Something Artemis found very upsetting. Quickly getting to her feet. Bell found himself pushed out the way as she came face to face to the amazon. The two girls began to stare one another down and a small crowd formed around them.
One began whispering to another. "You don't think these two are gonna fight do you?"
"I mean I hope not, these two are far too cute to fight. I wish it was for me…"
Bell was quick to get involved pushing himself between the two of them. "Enough! Artemis go inside!"
Artemis grumbled in response, though he wasn't shouting his voice was loud and stern enough to get through to her. She dropped her head and turned around pushing past everyone as she headed inside. The crowd also dispersed moments after, and Bell was left with Tiona.
"I I'm sorry about that… I don't know what was wrong with her…" He felt bad that it had to happen though he was gonna have to deal with Artemis when he got inside.
Tiona just smiled "It's okay no harm done. Besides she was drunk, I could smell the alcohol on her breath. I might not have helped much I do get pretty defensive… I best be head back or Riveria will have keep to her threat."
She took a few steps back before waving. "I'll see you around Bell ohh and good luck with the wargame I'll be cheering for you!" She then took off into a run and disappeared into the night.
Bell took a deep breath before heading back inside. He took a moment to look around for Artemis but found she wasn't downstairs. Nor was Hestia. Everyone was looking at him as he made his way towards the stairs. Lili shock her head and stood in front of the stairway blocking his path.
"Please move Lili…" He asked trying to remain calm though she didn't budge.
"No please just stay downstairs master Bell… Lili doesn't want you to get involved…"
He took another deep breath a shook his head. This time trying to get past her, though she only tried harder to block him. "Move Lili!"
He was starting to get angry and she knew it, quickly giving up and letting him past. She looked defeated at the others who just nodded in response and motioned for her to come sit back down.
Bell climbed the stairs; his head was filled with questions. Though the big one was why? Why she did what she did. It wasn't until he reached the top of the stairs that he heard Hestia shouting.
"YOU JEALOUS IDIOT! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? NO DON'T ANSWER THAT I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. I NEVER THOUGHT FOR A SECOND YOU WOULD BE SO CARELESS!"
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARTEMIS! YOU EMBARRASSED ME, YOU EMBARRASSED YOUR FAMILIA BUT MOST OF ALL YOU EMBARRASSED BELL!"
As he inched closer towards the door the shouting all but stopped and Hestia came out the room slamming the door behind her. Bell stopped was about to ask her if she was okay. Though he could see her fist were clenched. Though she had noticed him as she began to calm herself down.
She walked up to him and sighed pulling his shirt, so he'd lean down to her. She moved him so she was next to his ear. "Urgh go easy on her will you. It was my fault this happened, and I've already done the hard part…"
She let go and headed downstairs. Leaving Bell to head into the room. It was dark, and the subtle cries of Artemis quickly filled the room. Though he was upset at her for what she did, the last thing he wanted was to hear her crying. So as silently as he could he closed the door.
"Artemis?" He spoke softly as he took a step forward. Though he finally caught a glimpse of her silky hair poking out from under the covers and pillows which she used to hide herself. Whether or not she actually heard him was up in the air. Her cries were muffled by all the fabric, so it was fair to say she had no idea he was there.
He sat down at the edge of the bed letting his presence be known. The crying stopped though it was being forced as he could hear her slowly breaking. He carefully moved the covers back. The first thing he noticed was the large hand mark on her cheek.
'I guess this is what goddess meant by doing the hard part…'
Her eyes were looking at him though she couldn't bare to look him in the eye. Her face just seemed to move every time he tried. Instead, he just placed a hand on her#s trying to give her a small smile.
"I-I'm S-sorry… I... I…"
"Hey hey it's okay I'm not angry… Though if I can make a suggestion maybe don't get too drunk while I'm not around…" He tried to make a little joke but it didn't do a lot to ease the mood.
"B-But...I embarrassed you." She began to move and turn towards his though still trying her best to avoid looking at him. He chuckled to himself and nodded.
"Yeah, yeah you did… But I'm pretty good at doing that myself. How many people do you know that ran through the city covered in Minotaur blood?"
She smiled looking down. "No one, I guess you're the first…"
He nodded. "Come on." He opened up his arms and motioned with his hands for her to come closer. She was cautious at first, seeming to avoid the temptation. Though in the end he just ended up coming to her pulling her into a hug rubbing his hand along her back. The smell of booze was heavy on her, it might have been enough to intoxicate a normal person. Though he didn't mind. He began to rock back and forth slowly. She leaned into him and slowly drifted to sleep. Once he was happy she wasn't gonna wake up, he laid her down and allowed her to sleep in peace.
With that done he headed back downstairs to join the rest.
Authors notes
Story/writer update
Okay okay, it's been a while... Well actually it's been about the same time but it's still been a while. Firstly I would like to apologise for the delay in this chapter. As I said before I've currently been going through a rough patch. Nothing bad but I've had a full plate recently. Now update it's still not clear I must express that. However, I do have free time now and while it won't all be dedicated to writing a good portion will. I enjoy writing this story and it's a shame I can't do it more.
Secondly, I should explain some changes... I have made. Firstly regarding the next chapter... It will be the start of the wargame. Originally I had planned one more day but... With time restraints and such, I'd rather get onto the juicy bits of this arc. Besides I'd have probably just ended up writing the same shit again which I didn't want... I'll be the first to admit and apologise if something is the same or similar in chapters especially now when I'm not doing this on a week by week basis. I've been planning this wargame for a while and I'm really excited to be finally writing it.
Finally, while this story isn't well the most polished you'll read I hope you'll put up with it as I try to find a balance between my life and this. I want to thankyou all for the continued support it really means alot. Now on to reviews!
