48.- Lord Easton
Lord Easton is one of Lara's prospective fianceés. Lady Amelia Croft has been doing a meticulous job of picking up the perfect match for her daughter. It's not a matter of looks, but one of patience. Patience for her mischievous little angel... "Arranged marriages," Lord Easton jokes at a dinner with the Croft family. "That's quite outdated. She doesn't even feel interested in it. Whoever has ringed the bell with this downpour is surely more interesting than me." Lord and Lady Croft cover their mouths with their hands. "Preselection is always better," Lara says, and makes Easton jump off his chair. "How did you…?" he asks. "The man at the door was a former King," Lara says. "He had an urgent matter that needed help, and I just helped him get his footing back again."

Lara sits back at the table. "So…" Amelia asks. "Are you running away to some strange place again?" Lara takes her time to answer. "Lebanon, I believe," Lara answers. "I'd love to visit Noah's tomb." Lord Croft laughs. "Of course, Easton, you're invited to come with me. Would you like to go on an adventure?" Lord Easton coughs. "News is true," Easton says. "You are quite different. I'm not sure. I think I prefer preparing all issues regarding our marriage. You are in the need to protect the Croft Estate anyways."

"It is decided then…" Lara says. "I will most likely marry you." Lord Easton looks baffled. They merely know each other. "That is, if I come back alive from this one." Amelia starts crying and his husband tries to comfort her. "Can't you stay?" Amelia asks. "Usually, I just come across trouble," Lara says. "But today, trouble was standing at my gate. I'd rather have a pyramid fall on me than put any of you in harm's way." "I will prepare the ball room," Easton says. "I expect you come back to honor our vows." Lara smiles. "Sure, Easton," she says. "Until then, keep safe."
