"Kagome, I do believe we are nearing the end of what I am able to impart upon you for foundational study." I hear Fumiko tell my miko as I step out into the garden.

"Oh, I suppose I'll need to find a new teacher then." Kagome murmurs, tone laced with sorrow.

"No, you misunderstand, dear. You have reached the end of what any miko would be able to teach you. Now, what we must focus on is enhancing your ability, honing it, leaning to perform what you have been taught without thought."

Kimiko speaks up then, "She is correct, little one. At this point, there is little I can teach you, either. It is down to you to practice and strengthen what we have imparted upon you. You hold untold power, you need only to learn to draw upon it instantly and instinctually."

Kagome beams at them then. "I... thank you. Thank you both so much."

"Of course, little one. Ah, Sesshoumaru, perfect timing as always. Our little Miko has reached the end of basic training. We must have a feast to celebrate." Mother says with a wide grin as Kagome splutters a bit.

"Hn. Indeed. We shall add to it InuYasha's promotion to Captain." I tell them, settling myself down next to Kagome, smirking when Aimi stands and moves to curl up in my lap. I gently stroke along her small back, ignoring the look from my mother.

Kagome gasps, "Really? Oh, that's great!"

"Yo! Kags, I-"

"You made Captain! Congratulations, Yash!" Kagome interrupts, jumping up to hug him.

"Uh, yeah, how did you... oh, gee thanks, Sesshoumaru. Couldn't let me tell her myself." InuYasha grumbles half heartedly as he hugs the miko in return.

"Indeed. There is evidently to be a feast tonight, to celebrate your promotion as well as Kagome reaching the end of her foundational reiki training."

"Really? That's great, Kags. Proud of ya." InuYasha smiles as he looks down at the blushing miko.

"Thanks, Yash. Oh! I should go find Sumi, tell her about the feast." Kagome turns and jogs off leaving the rest of us to chuckle.

"She really is special, isn't she." Kimiko murmurs, catching my eye as she smiles knowingly.

"Hn." is all I will deign to respond aloud with. More than you know, mother.
