Skylor stifled a yawn as she scrolled through her phone and checked through the dozens of texts and pictures Kai had been sending her and Nya the last two weeks since he, Cole, Jay, and Zane had gone up to the cabin. It seemed to be doing the trick. Even just talking over the phone Skylor could tell Kai was feeling better already. If she and Nya were being completely honest, they were having a nice break too. Kai would never be a burden and they all made sure he knew that every day, but it was nice to have the place to themselves and not be stuck in an overcrowded apartment.

Last night the couple had spent most of the night having Netflix and chill and now she was regretting it.

Both of them could barely keep their eyes open and Skylor had almost sleep-walked to the cafe for some hot coffee. The red-haired woman had hoped to go to the cafe and get some peace but quickly realized that that wasn't gonna happen. There was a special support group for new moms gathered in the cafe. Normally Skylor didn't have a problem with this. The only issue she had was the fact Wendy was the nurse who here to provide the moms' advice as a nurse, dressed in scrubs and everything.

Skylor was almost certain that Wendy didn't work on the maternity ward.

She had a sneaking suspicion that the older woman was only here to speak to Kai. Wendy did notice her but decided not to say anything to her and focus on her work.

"So does anyone have any problems they want to share?" She asked the group, who all shared uncomfortable glances.

"... I'm not getting any sleep." One finally admitted, gently rocking her baby boy in her arms. "He cries all the time, he doesn't need feeding or changing or anything he just won't settle." She complained, clearing at her limit with motherhood. "I thought about putting him in the bed with us."

"No, I-I wouldn't advise that." Wendy quickly said and she thought carefully about her next words, not wanting to cause a panic. "If, um, if you're exhausted and you fall into a deep sleep you could roll onto him and you wouldn't realize it; my advice is to get him into a routine, set meal times, sleep times, and just try and stick to it as best you can."

"But what if they wake up in the middle of the night?"

"Obviously if he's hungry feed him, don't make him wait, but a routine can work." She smiled and Skylor scoffed. With how Morro turned out Skylor was shocked that any sane person would think about taking parenting advice from her of all people. Not wanting to watch this woman give these poor mothers probably false information, Skylor got up and intended to pay her bill and leave. She great misjudged her grip on her empty cup however and dropped it on the floor, causing it to shatter.

Without thinking she bent down to try and clean up the mess.

"AH!" She cried aloud as the shards cut into her hand, causing it to bleed badly. Everyone, including Wendy, heard her cry and the nurse instantly rushed to her side.

"Oh, dear! Are you alright?" She asked in concern as she tried to check Skylor's hand, but the younger woman pulled it away.

"I'm fine!" She hissed in pain before suddenly reaching into her pocket, pulling out some dollars, throwing it at a barista, and storming out of the cafe, trying to stop the blood dripping from her hand...

Skylor hissed as she wrapped a small towel tightly around her still bleeding hand and paced around the apartment, willing her had to stop bleeding soon. It had been a little over two hours since the accident and it wouldn't stop. She was thankful Nya was at work. Skylor really didn't want to go to the hospital and she was sure if Nya saw the wound her first reaction would be to drag her to the nearest hospital. Skylor had always had a fear of hospitals and unless she was dying she would never set foot in one.

Suddenly the pain from her bloody wound flared up with an intensity unlike ever before.

She felt that something was wrong, something was frighteningly wrong. She was sure it would all be over soon enough. The pain would never last that long, right? The realization she may be wrong caused a moment of panic. The pain shouldn't be more than a minor nuisance to her, but right now it was far more than that. Her entire body was trembling in fear now. Before she could even think of what to do next, there was a light knocking on the front door to the apartment.

Too freaked out about her hand to care, Skylor opened it without think and was shocked and irritated to see Wendy standing there, still in uniform and holding a first aid kit.

"Y-You're neighbor let me up." She gulped, feeling incredibly nervous.

"What do you want?" Skylor glared as she, for some reason she doesn't know, let the nurse into the apartment.

"It's just... I'm on my lunch break and I just wanted to check you were alright." She replied as she placed the first aid kit on the table and put on some rubber gloves and a face mask.

"I'm fine and don't pretend you care!"

"Well, I know you're in pain and it's my job to help." She said calmly and motioned for Skylor to take a seat. The red-haired woman really didn't want to, but she also really didn't want to go to the hospital and Wendy was a nurse and already here. Plus with everyone else out there was no chance of another shouting match breaking out. Begrudgingly, Skylor sat down and extended her injured hand for Wendy to examine. She hissed in pain as the nurse unwrapped the towel and allowed it to drop to the floor.

Once she was sure the wound was clean Wendy applied a thin layer of antibiotic ointment and covered the wound in a bandage held in place with paper tape.

As she packed up she left some bandages and ointment and told Skylor to change the dressing at least once a day or whenever the bandage became wet or dirty. She also booked Skylor in to get a tetanus shot and warned her to watch for signs of infection.

"Thanks for this," Skylor muttered as Wendy put the bloody towel in the laundry basket for her.

"I'm just doing my job."

"Yeah I know but you came back here to check on me and I'm not sure I would have done in your position." She admitted shamefully.

"Oh, I think you would." She reassured her with a comforting smile and Skylor swallowed the lump in her throat.

"I... I know things have been a bit tense between all of us but, um... thank you again."

"I couldn't just walk away." She said just as the door opened. They both turned and Wendy's smile dropped when she saw Nya glaring at her as she kicked off her shoes.

"What's she doing here?" The younger Smith sibling demanded, not taking her glare off Wendy.

"She's, um, well, she's been helping me," Skylor admitted and lifted up her bandaged hand for her girlfriend to see.

"Oh my God! What happened?!" She exclaimed in panic and rushed to Skylor's side.

"I dropped a cup in the cafe and cut myself, Wendy was there with some kind of new moms group and she wanted to help."

"Are you gonna be okay?"

"Yeah, thanks to Wendy." She replied before looking to the nurse. "I really do appreciate everything you've done."

"Not everything," Nya growled and scowled at the older woman. "Why are you still here? You know where the door is; Kai's not here, he's on vacation with his boyfriends."

"Well I forgot that but I'll be honest when I came to help at that group I was hoping to see him, I need to tell him something," Wendy admitted, believing honesty was the best policy in this situation, but Nya laughed bitterly.

"Same as always, you just can't take a hint."

"He's carrying my grandchild." She frowned and Nya got up in her face.

"That kid has got nothing to do with you."

"That baby's a part of me and my son."

"Yeah, your son, the rapist, crimelord, drug dealer, and murder." She spat, but Wendy wouldn't back down.

"My son who I love and he was also the person was killed by thugs in a filthy prison bathroom." She counted, keeping her voice civil and calm.

"Got everything he deserved." Nya shrugged.

"That's enough, Nya." Skylor scolded lightly and Wendy turned back to her.

"I am a good Mom, and I'd be a good Gran, all I need is a chance." She stated, her eyes begging Skylor for compassion and hopefully support.

"Did she just call herself a good Mom? After what your son turned into?" Nya scoffed in disbelief. "You're pretty much to blame for all of this." She added angrily, but Wendy wouldn't acknowledge her and kept her gaze on Skylor.

"Please help me as I've helped you."

"I'm sorry I can't." Skylor finally said and Wendy sighed in defeat before leaving. When she left, Nya had a huge, satisfied smile on her face, but it dropped when she saw the disappointed and angry look on Skylor's...

A few weeks after the incident with the broken cup, Skylor was still angry at Nya for the way she spoke to Wendy. She understood that how Wendy treated Kai wasn't right, but after the nurse had helped her Skylor couldn't help but feel bad for the way Nya had spoken to her. Two wrongs didn't make a right. As punishment for her attitude, Skylor made her clean the entire apartment before the boys got back. Nya had only just managed to finish the day before they were due back.

Skylor almost burst out laughing when she saw her girlfriend fast asleep on the couch, a scrubbing brush tucked under her arm like a teddy bear.

She managed to hold it in and stepped out of the apartment and into the hallway without waking Nya up. After she got her giggling under control, she was about to leave when she noticed the door to Kai and Nya's old apartment open. It wasn't that big a deal to them as they had heard from a few of the other tenants on the floor that the landlord was putting up ads for the empty apartment. Feeling a little nosy, she sneaked over and took a peek inside to see who their potential new neighbors were.

She immediately paled, however, when she saw Wendy happily signing something and handing it back to the landlord's new assistant.

"Well, it's all yours, enjoy." The assistant smiled as he shook her hand.

"Thank you very much, I can't wait to get properly moved in; new home, new job, and I've got a grandchild on the way." She replied excitedly and Skylor internally cursed.

"Congratulations."

"Oh thank you, I'm really looking forward to it." She said and Skylor quickly slipped away. deciding she had heard enough. Kai and Nya were not gonna like this...
