"Mirio!"
The group that arrived to the downed blonde gasped when they saw him. His eyes were closed, his breathing shallow, and blood was pooling from under him.
It was safe to say that if they didn't act, he'd be a casualty.
Izuku was the first to arrive to Mirio's aid. His eyes widened when he saw blood leaking from his shoulder blade, and his uniform was torn around the torso and upper back. He looked like he was out through hell and back.
He heard the incoming footsteps of the others, and he felt someone kneel next to him.
"Mirio…"
Izuku felt the black haired teen slump next to an almost unconscious Lemillion. He watched as the best friends looked at the other, wordless. His words spoke of nothing, but his mind was going insane. What had happened? Who could have shot Mirio down? The strongest of the students of UA?
"Chrono...stasis." The raspy voice of Mirio almost went unheard to the heroes that surrounded him.
Izuku looked to Tamaki, who was just as confused. "What?"
Mirio tried to sit up, and upon finding that his body refused, grabbed onto Izuku's arm. "Follow, and you'll find… Eri." His hand trembled as he pointed his finger to the tunnel in front of the group.
Izuku's eyes hardened as he watched the feeble hand lay onto it's owner, a twitch couldn't be seen. His mind raced, his temper flared. His fists clenched so tight, they turned paler than his own skin tone. Nothing else mattered in that moment.
He needed to take the villain down.
"Izuku?"
His eyes snapped back to reality, beads of sweat stilled as he realized where he was. Apparently, his legs started to move down the hallway.
He turned towards the owner of the voice, and his gaze softened when he saw it was Kyoka who called out for him. He watched as she walked towards him, her face contorted to fear and curiosity. "Don't tell me you're going after the madman yourself?
He breathed, his mind the only thing to stop him from sighing. "I have to, Kyo. I need to stop him. I need to rescue my daughter."
Her eyes glistened in the lights. "But, you'll be killed!"
He chuckled, his voice grave. "I'll die before I let Eri leave with that madman."
He turned, but stopped when he felt arms wrapped around his torso. "Hmm? Kyo, let me go, please." His eyes widened as he felt water soak into his cloak.
'She's crying.'
She shook her head, her arms locked in place. "I won't let you die!"
He wasn't going to lie, he was about to start crying too, but he needed to complete this mission. No matter what it took. If killing himself is what was needed, then so be it.
He brought her in a hug. "Kyo, you have no idea how much I love you, how much I love all of you. You, Yui, Momo, Tsuyu. The guys too, but on a familial level, but you girls," he looked into her eyes. "You girls are four of the reasons why I work so hard. If you stop me now, I couldn't live with myself."
For once, Kyoka didn't have the words to counter anything he said.
"Which is why I must do this." And before she knew it, he brought her into a kiss, on the lips, she might add.
Everyone behind them was stunned, for they had no idea they liked each other that way. Well, except for the redhead.
Kirishima smirked. 'That's our counselor.'
Jirou.exe has stopped working.
Izuku broke from her lips, and gave a small, apologetic smile. He looked towards the group, and immediately grew serious. "Red Riot. You're my backup. If anything were to go wrong, you save Eri and get out of there while I deal with Overhaul. For everyone else, back him up and go. If I die, I'd rather be the only casualty today. Understood?"
The students understood, but they didn't like it.
"Tamaki, how long do you think Mirio has left?"
The black haired boy looked at his best friend solemnly, his tears long dried. "An hour at most. We managed to stop the bleeding."
The vigilante nodded. "Then take him to the medics. Bring back any heroes and students that aren't injured or have recovered, in case you need backup." He didn't wait for a response, since his feet started to move.
He stopped. "Red Riot, Earphone Jack? Tell the others this: Thanks, for being my family." He continued his trail, a lone tear dropping in his stead.
'No. No, no no no no NO NO NO' "No!" Kirishima had to hold Kyoka back. "Don't go! Please! No! You're going to die, Izuku! No!" She never noticed the vigilante hesitating as she cried. But he continued on his way regardless.
Her cries pained him, but the image of his daughter in danger forced him to keep going.
That's what heroes do, right?
No,
"Mom? C-Can I be a hero too? Like All Might? He saves the day with a smile. Can I do that too?" His trembling body pleaded for his mother to say what he wanted, what he needed to hear. He needed her to say he could be a hero, that he could save everyone with a smile.
Unfortunately,
A tall, weeping mother dove onto him, her arms wrapped around his small frame as she cried "I'm Sorry!"
There would be no redeeming those words for her in that moment, nor for the future.
His father never bothered to show, hearing about the quirkless child in his household.
He never showed it, but in the passing years he recognized the hurt of never having his father figure.
What would've happened if his father was more accepting?
Would he still have been tormented in that homeless shelter of an orphanage like he was?
Would he ever have trained?
Would he be the man that he was today?
Saving his daughter is what a real father would do.
And so off he went, sprinting down the spiraling corridor, his eyes dark with determination.
He would save his daughter. And everyone else.
Eventually, his legs took him to a laboratory, one that was cleaner than the rest of the facility. He walked in, and scanned through everything the room had to offer.
It was bare.
He saw absolutely nothing, not even medical equipment. He started looking through cabinets, drawers, even shelves.
It was all cleaned out.
"Quirkless, did you believe your search would be that easy?"
He immediately turned to the source of the noise, which appeared to be through the wall near the door.
'A speaker.'
He sprinted out of the room, and his eyes went mad trying to find a hall.
He ran, and he ran, and he could only find more doors.
None of them were real. All built like props.
"Quirkless, just give up. You'll never find my precious Eri. So go back to your friends, and leave."
His head shot up. "WHERE IS SHE?!"
"Head to your left. Then go to the door on the right. You'll find your prize."
Izuku wasn't sure why, but he followed the instructions. Call it intuition. Sure enough, as he approached the room, the white hair of Eri became more clear.
He smiled in relief. 'She's alive. I'm glad.'
He paused when he noticed just who was seated next to her.
"Welcome, Mr. Midoriya. We have a lot to talk about."
Izuku grit his teeth as he stared Overhaul down.
Kirishima was tired.
Not only was he tired from the mission, but he was tired in the sense that holding a desperate Jirou from chasing her crush for about fifteen minutes straight.
And damn, was she strong, even for him.
However, Jirou still didn't let up. She struggled to escape his grip and just about won. Then, she stopped. His eyes looked towards her in curiosity. "What is it?"
Her eyes were frozen on the path ahead. Her ear jacks didn't twitch. "There's no noise."
"What do you mean?"
Her head shook with slight fear. "There's no noise, and I can't hear anything."
Kirishima's body froze. Does that mean that... "That's our cue then." He turned towards Suneater and the unconscious Lemillion. "Get help. We're gonna need it. Once you come back, follow this hall. Earphone Jack and I are going to go ahead."
Tamaki didn't need to be told twice.
Kirishima turned back towards the hall. Please, for our sakes, stay alive, Quirkless.
That's when he and Kyoka started walking.
The darkness was eerie, he had to admit. What he would give to have Kaminari by his side at this moment. He needed a laugh.
Unfortunately, laughs were scarce in this environment. From what he knew, some of his fellow teammates and mentors were brainwashed, in which only he was able to break out of the trance. He didn't know why, but he was grateful.
"Heroes!"
A new voice made itself known, or as it was not revealed himself. Kirishima eyed him warily, unsure of whether to label him an enemy or potential ally. The man looked to have a mutant quirk, with rough looking green skin; ragged, long purple hair, and his arms and tailed bloodied to the point of breaking. His eyes stared back at the hardening quirk user, curiosity adamant.
Jirou stepped forward. "Can we help you?"
The man nodded, the tenseness in him not yet gone away. "Yes, have you seen a girl named Tsuyu? I only had a brief look at her, but she was taken by Overhaul."
"...how do you know all this?"
Spinner watched the two's body language grow even stiffer, the fear in both their eyes slowly rising. He sighed, his eyes not leaving the two heroes' gaze.
"I was there when Tsuyu was taken. After they left, I used my tail to break out, and I followed them. He had one of his men brainwash her, much like what they did to the other heroes, and I ran away. I thought they saw me, and now I ran into you two."
Kirishima nodded, accepting the information. "Alright, let's say we believe you," he cut off Jirou's protests with a raised hand. "Can you show us where Quirkless is now?"
Spinner nodded.
"Then lead us to him, please."
Izuku glared at the masked man as he stared back, both unwavering. The villain sat uncomfortably close to the young girl, who was glancing between the two men with worry.
"So, Quirkless…"
Izuku rose a brow. "Yes?"
"Tell me, how does one gain normality with a quirk?"
The vernadette paused before speaking. "What is it that you mean?" 'Where is he going with this?' He glanced at Eri, a plan for both their escape starting to form. He just needed his knife and lock pick, which happened to be on a pocket by his waist.
Overhaul looked at Eri. "In this society, most have supernatural powers and abilities, such as manipulation of water, steeling your eyes, or even…" he demonstrated his own quirk, destroying a steel chair by his hand. However, he quickly reformed it to its original state. "My own quirk. With the DNA restructuring with each generation, I would say that in the next two generations of children would have Quirkless completely wiped out. Now, with my question… how does one gain normalcy with a quirk?"
Izuku gave a thoughtful stare at the man, the gears turning in his head.
"I'd start with the way we treat quirks in general. We put those with better quirks on a higher pedestal than those whose quirks can't be used for combat, not to mention those without quirks." His mind flashed back to growing up around Bakugou, before his mom died.
"Wrong."
Izuku glanced at the yakuza leader in mild surprise, waiting for the man to explain himself.
Overhaul chuckled. "We get rid of the weak, the ones without power. Why else would we ignore the Quirkless completely?" He stood up. "And that's what I wanted to discuss with you. Join me, and we can help the powerless rise against those that oppress them, to pick off the ones who take your kind for granted, knowing they could never fight back."
…
'What?'
In all honesty, Izuku's response could have been more civilized, as he would think later on. However, it was the only thing he could have thought of at that moment.
Izuku snarled, and shot the yakuza leader in the chest.
Said leader was shot back, flying through a wall, and didn't rise for a good few seconds. Meanwhile, Izuku didn't hesitate. He grabbed the chair Eri was strapped on and bolted out of the room, taking note of how bruised Eri was. It was something he had to patch up when they got out of there. He didn't stop running when he heard an angered scream.
He almost missed the flash of red, purple, and green that was moving his way.
He was surprised that Kirishima and Jirou thought to run in his direction, and he didn't know who they were following at all. He didn't care. All he needed was to get out of there.
"GO! NOW! GET OUT OF HERE!"
"What's going on?"
Izuku didn't even have the time to glare at Kirishima for ignoring the command. "Just run!"
"QUIRKLESS!"
Izuku froze along with the others. The fear in his eyes was felt through the heroes and spinner. Jirou was the first to break the silence. "Izuku?" She breathed. "What's that?"
Izuku's heart was like a drummer on cocaine. "Oh no."
Kirishima gulped. "What?"
Izuku turned towards him. "That sounds like overhaul, but-"
The walls surrounding them split and shattered. Metal sprayed everywhere, and in its place was a monster of a man. This creature looked like overhaul— if he had four arms that looked like cracked rock. His bomber jacket was in tatters, and his eyes flooded with hatred.
The most unsettling aspect of him was the giant mouth that was placed on his right hand.
"Eri," the thing muttered. His eyes spotted the girl. "Give me ERI!" His fist slammed into Izuku, or rather where he stood.
Izuku thrust the chair Eri was in into Jirou's arms. He looked in her eyes. "Go. Take her to safety. We'll keep the beast occupied." He kissed Eri on the forehead, and Jirou on the cheek. Turning to Spinner, he nodded. "I don't know who you are, but I feel like I can trust you. Escort those two to safety, and make sure nothing happens to either of them. If they get so much as a scratch, you're dead." Spinner nodded. Izuku smiled. "Get going, uh?"
"Spinner."
Izuku nodded. "You're a good man, Spinner. Even if I don't really know you. Now go."
Watching as they ran, he gave a silent prayer for their safety. He turned to Kirishima, who was eyeing the creature warily. "So Quirkless," the redhead started. "What's the plan?"
"I- I don't have one."
"What?"
Izuku's eyes never left their opponent. "I don't know how to beat him. All I did was shoot him in the chest. Hell, I have no clue as to how he got to be like this. Obviously it's part of his quirk, but I'm wondering if he reassembled himself and merged with someone else?" He turned to his partner. "The best we can do is to just hit him with all we have, and then some. Can we do that?"
Kirishima grinned, slamming hardened fists together. "Hell yeah!"
Overhaul Grew tired of their talk, resorting to attacking. He shot straight to the duo in front of him.
Izuku smiled. "For what it's worth, if we don't make it out: you're the best damn partner a vigilante could ask for. " with that, he ran to the charging beast.
At the surface, almost all downed heroes were just starting to wake up. Todoroki wasn't the first, as he would find out. He lifted his head and arms, and squinted at the light that shown in his eyes.
'Wait, that's the sun.'
Looking around, he noticed heroes like Eraserhead and Present Mic on stretchers close to the other. Midnight was nowhere to be seen, and he saw Tsuyu and Yui huddled close to Momo, waiting for her to wake. He sat up, grunting as his back popped.
"Shouto!"
His eyes widened slightly when Tsuyu called out his name. He gave her a small wave, his mind going overdrive on what happened.
They had been captured, and ultimately convinced to attack their leader, although everything was hazy. He remembered hearing the commands, but it was like his body refused to listen to his mental pleas. He looked around once more. "How did we get here?"
"We brought you up."
A new voice introduced themselves, and Todoroki moved his body to the source. Standing there was Shinsou, who looked fine. Todoroki tilted his head. "What happened?"
Shinso shook his head. "Apparently you, Momo, Eraserhead, Present Mic, Midnight, and Kirishima fought against Quirkless… and lost. A few of us that weren't brainwashed arrived just as you were all defeated and brought the five of you up for healing."
Todoroki nodded. "But didn't you say Kirishima? Where is he now?"
"Still down there, fighting with Quirkless and Earphone Jack."
"Then why is Tsuyu here if she wasn't brainwashed?"
"She was, Just at a different time. She was knocked out by our resident ladies man."
Todoroki didn't bother responding, and studied how the frog-like girl seemed more somber than usual. Standing up -and groaning at how his muscles ached- he walked over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder as he knelt. "Are you doing okay?"
She glanced at him, and croaked. "It's good to see you kicking, Ribbit."
He smiled. "Ditto. Now, you didn't answer my question."
Her eyes shot back to the ground. "I- I don't want to talk about it."
He nodded. "I understand. You don't have to talk about it." And they sat there, content in their silence.
"Oh thank God it's you guys!"
Everyone that was awake turned towards the voice, surprised to say the very least. The teens immediately walked over to the panting Jirou. Yui was surprised that she was carrying Eri to begin with.
Speaking of, the small girl had fallen asleep in the chair, and snored softly. Yui smiled at this. Then she remembered.
"Where's Izu?"
Her soft voice was almost unheard by the others. Jirou looked away after she spoke, guilt and fear evident in her frown. "He… he and Kirishima are fighting Overhaul." She jumped when she heard the soft spoken girl run to where she left. "Wait!"
Yui didn't listen, only to bump into a mass of green. She looked up. "Who?" Her voice faltered at the empty stare he gave her. Chills ran down her spine, and she walked back to the group.
The green man smiled softly. "The name's Spinner. Don't wear it out." He gave a small chuckle at his own joke. "I was sent here by Ms. Earlobes' boyfriend under the orders of protecting her and his daughter until she got to safety. Although now I suspect the plan to change."
The six teens all smirked at the other. Todoroki clenched his fists. "Yeah. We're going on there to help those two idiots." The others nodded as they walked to the entrance.
"And I'll be keeping watch of Eri while you're gone." They all shook as the dull voice of Eraserhead stopped them in their tracks. "Or did you not consider her safety and feelings in your plan to fight?"
Shinso raised a brow. "You're actually letting us fight, rather than go in yourselves?"
Aizawa glared at the ground. "The other pros are hurt to the point where they won't wake. I wouldn't be useful other than my quirk, but if it were up to me, we would have sent All Might to help. However, he has not returned, which means he is still down there. Think of this as a rescue mission. All gloves are off, we'll look the other way." The students sighed in relief.
"This time."
They shuddered. 'Should have expected that.' All five thought.
Spinner stepped forward. "I'll fight too."
Jirou glanced at him. "With what weapon?"
"A sword." And so he pulled a Katana out from seemingly nowhere.
Everyone just stared at him, and wordlessly moved on, all slightly terrified. Spinner laughed silently. He secretly hid it when he found his prized possession in a vault in the hideout. He had a knack for that kind of thing.
Todoroki stepped forward. "Alright, let's go!"
Kirishima grunted as he slammed into a wall for what seemed like the tenth time. His quirk was starting to wear off, and whenever it wore completely he feared he'd be gone soon after. His eyes cracked open to watch as Izuku continuously traded blows with the creature, quurklessness be damned.
It was as if he was like All Might, just without the added strength and speed. He moved to join, but a small, strong hand gripped into his arm. Turning around, he was surprised by the sudden appearance of Toga Himiko. "What-"
"Stay here. You're about to witness why he's the most feared hero in the underground."
So he did as told, noticing the hardened tone she used. Usually she was so playful, yet now… it was as if she's seen things. Serious things. He remained quiet, flinching as his partner was thrown back once more.
Then, everything changed. Izuku stood once more, but the look in his eyes hardened, and the snark he saw through the torn mask surprised him. Other than when he kicked Midnight'a and Mineta's ass, he never witnessed pure rage like this.
Izuku charged Overhaul, faster than Kirishima had ever seen him run. At this point, Izuku was just short of a blur, with pinpoint accurate shots to overhauls limbs and chest. Overhaul tried swiping at the boy, but to no avail, he missed every time. Overhaul screeched in frustration, his vocal cords no longer singular to one voice. It looked like Izuku was right, he did merge with one of his henchmen.
Then, out of nowhere, Overhaul unmerged with the tall henchman. Without hesitation, he ran and grabbed the man, and brought him to where toga was. He was knocked out, so there wasn't a way to be attacked. Yet.
"KATSUKAME!"
Izuku, Kirishima, and Toga froze, confused. "Red Riot," Toga whispered "What does that mean?" Kirishima looked at her. "Beats me. It doesn't look like Quirkless has a clue either." They both turned to where Izuku stood.
Izuku was at a loss. Not only did he not know what Overhaul screamed, but the masked man was starting to move aside. Izuku charged at the man, only to be thrown back by a large hand. Dazed, he looked up, and his eyes widened to see two enormous rock like fists slam in his direction. Without sound, he rolled out of the way to avoid the hands by a narrow margin.
He heard a satisfied grunt through the dust. "I think I got him. He shouldn't have dodged." The voice grew angry when Izuku stood up, his hands poised to fight.
"Katsukame, to me." Izuku's eyes narrowed when the now revealed rather large henchmen sprinted to Overhaul. In the blink of an eye, two figures became one as a large mountainous creature stood where the leader of the Yakuza once did. A fist the size of a meteorite made its way towards Izuku.
"Fuck."
Izuku was slammed backwards, bones breaking as he flew, and walls crumbled around him as he landed. Izuku laid there, his breath hitched as his body finally registered the pain the hit did to him.
The creature howled as it made its way towards the vigilante, its vengeance not yet satiated. It raised another fist and lowered it at the speed of a freight train going full power, when it was stopped by an unknown force. Izuku cracked open one eye, and smiled in relief when he saw just who stopped his death.
A blinding grin was thrown his way. "I'm sorry for my leave of absence, young Midoriya." A strong, jovial voice relieved Izuku of all fear. "But do not worry, for I AM HERE!" A powerful blow sent the Overhaul like monstrosity backwards.
Kirishima whooped in excitement and relief. "Yeah! Go All Might!" He was so glad his teacher appeared. He thought his partner was gone for good.
"Red Riot." He turned towards the villain. "We have to go. Now." Toga started walking, not waiting for the hero to follow. She made her way towards Izuku, and picked him up, allowing him to lean on her shoulder. She looked at the approaching Kirishima expectedly. He nodded, picking the other shoulder of Quirkless. With one last look at the brawl between hero and villain they left.
All Might's signature smile vanished as the heroes and villain escaped, his anger towards Overhaul rising. He studied the merged creature for a moment. It appeared to be an enormous red Kaiju, with 4 arms: two thin and two thick; with muscles bulging everywhere on its body. Only the top half of Overhaul exposed. All Might knew that he couldn't just rely on that little bit to defeat the whole creature.
"Now," All Might scowled as her easier every muscle in his body. "Let's get to work." He charged Overhaul, who screamed and mirrored the hero.
"We need to hurry!" The screams of Kirishima we're almost drowned out by the battle of All Might. He almost stumbled but he caught himself before he could fall.
Toga glared at him. "You don't think I know that!" She glanced at Izuku worriedly before facing her attention in front of her. "I care for him as much as the other girls, so of COURSE I refuse to slow down!"
Kirishima looked at her for a split second, baffled. "You care for him? All you've done is fight him?!"
"And that turns me on!"
"That does NOT help your case!"
The duo stopped their banter when the walls behind them exploded, shards of metal raining close to them. All might landed next to them, only to smile and launch back into the fight. The three figures sprinted faster.
"Hey guys?"
Both Toga and Kirishima immediately stopped, looking at the vigilante they were carrying. "Izu!" Toga cooed. Kirishima rolled his eyes. "It's good to have you back with us, but how's not the time-" the cries of pain Overhaul sent out shook the room. "We need to get you to safety before-"
"Where's Eri?"
Kirishima smiled. "She's with the medics and other heroes. She'll be fine."
"And the girls?"
"They're fine too. Listen, we need to get to them before Overhaul and All Might bring the building down!"
Izuku blinked. "All Might?"
"Yeah, he saved both of us! Now can you move?"
"Yeah."
"Great! Let's go!" Toga and Kirishima sprinted forward, ready to see the others.
Izuku hesitated, but eventually followed. His mind wanted him to help All Might, but without a powerful quirk, he was no help. That is to say he still didn't want a quirk, but he couldn't help but think of what could've happened if he did. "Hey Kirishima?"
"Yeah?"
"Why's Toga here?"
She laughed. "Because, silly! My team and your team have pretty much the same objective! To get rid of Overhaul and his team!"
Izuku coughed. "No! We just needed to save Froppy and Eri! Not get rid of him!"
She gave him a Cheshire grin. "Buuuut you also wanted to take out Overhaul, right?"
Izuku blinked. "Y-yeah." His tone was quiet.
"Well then! C'mon!" She skipped ahead. Kirishima shook his head as Izuku groaned. "Nice going with the ladies, pal. You acquired a psychopath." Izuku laughed as Kirishima slapped his palm on the greenettes back. "No words, Red Riot, otherwise I just might expose your American Pop obsession." He gave a hearty laugh as they ran, avoiding the punch Kirishima sent his way.
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Hmm, try me." He ran faster, trying to avoid the red heads' wrath.
Meanwhile, the group of students ran as if their lives depended on it. Todoroki led the charge, taking a few seconds when they reached any hall to alert the group of danger, something that the rest silently thanked him for.
It wasn't until they reached the lower levels of the hideout when they noticed anything amiss. Their first clue was the smell, the second, how there was nobody around, and the third, the shaking that hit the rooms every once in a couple minutes.
Jirou stepped forward, her curiosity peaked at whatever was happening around. "I'm just going to take a look around, you guys can follow or not, your call-" she stopped when she stepped on something tender, or rather-
It was a man in a black suit, his glasses destroyed, exposing his bloody red eyes. His mouth was open, his tongue flopped out unceremoniously. His hands lay there, unmoving. Jirou's breath hitched as she looked further down the body, and screamed when she looked at his legs.
There weren't any.
It seemed that only the top half remained, with entrails streamed from his gut, and a long line of blood led to his location. Todoroki and Shinso rushed forward to grab the girl, when they noticed too. Shinso made no sound, but it was apparent that he was as shocked as Jirou was. Todoroki immediately grabbed Jirou, one hand over his mouth in disgust.
Needless to say, they left the room immediately.
Jirou panted as she knelt on the ground, vomit finally leaving her. Tears brimmed in her eyes, threatening to spill as she looked up at the half cold half hot user. Yui placed a comforting hand on her back, and Momo placed a hand in Todoroki's shoulder. "What. The hell. Was that?" Todoroki only looked down. "We're supposed to be heroes, right halfie? No one is supposed to suffer like that man did, right?" Once again, he didn't answer her, but Tsuyu did.
"Jirou, ribbit. We can't save everyone. It's not realistic. We save as many as we can, and-"
"We're supposed to be satisfied with that?! We can leave one person to die but it's okay because we saved a hundred others? That man, he might have been a villain, but he had a family, probably. He had friends, he probably wanted an out of here. But now he can't!" Her tears ran rampant at this point. "What happens if we can't save Izu? He- he told me that if he doesn't make it, he wanted all of us to know that he loved us girls very much, and the boys were brothers to him." The others looked at her in stunned silence. "So what happens if he dies? Eri and Kota won't have fathers, and no one will be able to talk to him again! What then?" She stopped when a big hand grabbed onto her shoulder.
"We will save Izu, Jirou." Her froggy friend gave her a warm smile. "We will."
"Hey, where's Spinner?" The soft voice of Yui broke through the discussion, prompting them to look around. Then,
BOOM
The group jumped. "What the hell?" Shinso cried. "It sounded like the place blew open!"
"That's because it did." A tired voice called out. The teens looked behind them, and sighed in relief as Spinner walked in with a worn looking Kirishima. "We have Quirkless. Now let's go!" As the group followed, Tsuyu huffed in annoyance. She didn't bother to look anyone in the eyes as she grumbled. "We were supposed to rescue him." Todoroki laughed slightly. "I'm sure he'll appreciate our efforts." She grumbled in an annoyed agreement, quickening her pace.
Before they could move any further, the area behind them exploded, and an enraged Overhaul Kaiju screamed out at an equally enraged All Might. The creature spotted the group and began its descent towards them. The teens froze in terror, unsure of what to make of this. The only sounds were their screams.
All Might's scowl deepened, and shot towards the creature, but even he wasn't fast enough. His eyes widened as the red Kaiju's hand landed on the group, but he stilled as the Kaiju did.
All eyes were on the frozen Kaiju, which wasn't frozen from Todoroki, but rather Izuku. Two pistols were in his hands, smoke escaping from the barrels. His eyes formed a glare that never left Overhaul, and Overhaul froze in shock.
In his chest were a tranquilizer and quirk-nullifying solutions. These happened to be the strongest doses he carried. The creature slumped forward, and would have toppled them had All Might not swept in and removed the villain. The Kaiju glowed , and soon enough two figures lay where one did: Overhaul, and Rikiya Katsukame, one of Overhauls eight lackeys.
Everyone sank to the ground in tired relief. The fight was officially over. The heroes cheered, and the group of teens glomped Izuku, the girls peppering him with kisses and the guys laughing as they watched. All Might smiled warmly at the scene, shaking his head as he muttered something along the lines of "kids."
What no one noticed was the gun Chisaki pointed at Quirkless, and it was only too late as they heard the deafening sound of a bullet shoot out from the firearm. Kirishima was quick to act as he hardened his body and launched himself at the vigilante. They all heard the scrapes of a bullet bounce from the rock hard skin, and the metal sunk to the ground harmlessly. Izuku was quick to dash up to the villain, and broke both of his arms.
Ignoring the cries of pain, he glared at the captured villain, causing him to fall silent, whimpers barely escaping his throat. "Who are you to scream and act petty after all you've done to harmless people? After what you've done to my daughter? You even went as far as brainwashing one of my girlfriends! How dare you?!" A menacing aura Emanated from the vigilante as he glared stone cold daggers through the villain. A dangerous grin graces his lips. "Now, now, what to do with you." He chuckled darkly, causing the teens and heroes to back away. "I know of some associates of mine that would just love to dissect you, to see just how your quirk works. Especially with your ideologies. A world without quirks brought upon by a man who takes advantage of his? Don't make me laugh." His eyes scanned the crowd. "Oh! Toga!"
The blonde jumped in surprise. "Yes, Quirky?"
He ignored the pet name. "You think Shigaraki would deal with him? I doubt he's worth the time of the cops."
She nodded with glee.
All Might stepped forward, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Young Midoriya, that's enough." He gently pushed the boy away from the groaning Chisaki in an attempt to appease the situation.
"No…"
All Might stopped as Izuku mumbled. "Er… care to repeat that, young Midoriya?"
"No… No! He'll just take her away from me!" He rushed at a frozen Overhaul, who really just couldn't do anything at that moment. "Leave her alone!"
It was only for a brief moment, but All Might spotted his face, and his eyes were what froze him still. They were quivering, much like several maddened villains he has long fought, and still had trouble with to this day. His expression turned into pure agony, and his hands shook with so much tension that they turned paler than his own porcelain skin.
It was a sight the veteran hero wished to never see again.
A long, pink tongue whipped out and wrapped around Izuku, stilling him. Jirou immediately sprinted to where he stood. She gazed into his eyes, her own widened in fright. "He's not here! He… reliving something! He won't respond!"
"Most likely a traumatic event that ran deep into his childhood, I'm guessing." The voice of Eraserhead broke through the crowd, and the slouched man walked up to the greenette.
"How do you know, sir?"
He sighed, not looking in Jirou's direction. "I was there when it happened. I'm guessing he hasn't told you about his mother?"
All shook their heads.
"His mother was taken from him… murdered in cold blood. She was raped before shot, and Midoriya was there, begging for her to be let go. I arrived at the scene of the crime, but I was too late to do anything." He looked into Izuku's eyes. "I'm the one responsible for this outcome."
Shinso shook his head. "It's not your fault, Eraserhead! You couldn't have known-"
He was paused by a hand. "No, I was. I wasn't fast enough to save him, to save his mother. That burden has not lifted, and has not lifted on him either." He sighed. "We need an ambulance, since he's no doubt going to go into cardiac arrest if we don't do something."
He paused every girl shook their heads, and Momo walked to the vigilante with Yui, both wrapping him gently in their embrace. Eventually, Izuku calmed down, his screams watering down into mutters, his mind still in a fog.
"What will happen to him now?" The now small voice of Todoroki questioned the man. Eraserhead stood there, contemplating that himself. He shook his head, not enjoying what he was about to say.
"He needs medical treatment, as well as therapy. He'll need a break from school for now. Teaching and helping others can wait until he's made a full physical, and semi mental recovery. He at least has Futuna to help take care of the kids while he recovers, at least." He walked away, dialing the other heroes while ambulances and police officers arrived on the scene.
The teens looked down, worry enrapturing their faces. Momo brushed her fingers over the jaw of a sleeping Izuku, tears dripping down her chin. "It's not fair."
The others looked at her, surprised.
"We still won, but he still lost. Why is it the good ones that suffer?" She looked at the others. "Why?" At that point, she broke down, her tears flowing like an open dam. Eventually, the others started to cry too.
Spinner looked at the scene from afar, unsure of how to feel for the kids. He looked to the sky, wondering just what'll happen next. They won the battle, yes, and as much as he was glad for their safety, he knew the war inside themselves, and the word, wouldn't end just yet.
And that's a wrap on the Overhaul saga!
