Chapter 50 – Luke and Ines Skywalker
The Next Day:
The day came over Coruscant, just like the night, with a lot of rain, which was not normal, since it rain mostly at night until 8am. But today it kept raining, which made a lot of the inhabitants of Coruscant stay inside their apartments.
In Luke and Ines apartment, the couple were still in bed. This time Ines was the first to wake up. Normally the early bird of the two was Luke, today she beat him up, which made her smile when she rolled on her back and looking to her right she saw her beautiful husband, on his back, still fast a sleep. Rolling on her right, she stood there admiring him. They were still naked under the covers, and right now the covers were covering until the waist, showing Luke's chest.
She stare at him. His face was facing her. Resting on her right arm, she gently removed his blond bangs from his forehead. He really needed a hair cut she thought, although his hair was just like they met 4 years ago, and she loved running her fingers through it. Slowly she ran her fingers on his lips and then to his chest, admiring it and his abs, indicating he had be training over the years to become the great Jedi Knight he already was. Running her hand on his biceps, she smiled, thinking that she had his body last night and like always it was amazing.
She felt so lucky for being his and that he was hers. She couldn't imagine being with any other man but him.
She had feelings for him back in Yavin 4, and she couldn't bare the idea of not seeing him again. Thank Goodness, he came out unharmed and as a hero since he was the one who blew up the death star and saved everyone in Yavin.
When he left on a mission with Nakari and find out they were actually in a relationship, she felt like her heart being broken in two. Maybe she was meant to be alone. She was not happy when they got the news she had died, quite the other way around, it meant that Luke was suffering and she didn't want him to suffer. She wanted to see him happy, even if it was not with her. Then he and Shira started to get closer. The first time she saw them kissing, and the way Luke looked at her, smiling, all happy, she lost all the hopes to ever being with him. Maybe the blond hair and blue eyes kid she dreamed when she was 10, was another one, but then why her heart kept beating for him?
When Luke got in trouble for killing Shira, or so they thought, she was on his side. For some reason she didn't trust her either and if the force told Luke to shoot, it had its reasons.
When she got the news he was missing when they were in Hoth, she knew right there she couldn't live without him, and when he tried to kiss her in the medical care, she thought it was dream. A dream that became true when they finally kiss and told their love for each other. Was that real? Did Luke really told he loved her too?
After that she felt she was dreaming. Luke loved her and he wanted her. She remembered how nervous she was the first night they slept together. But she trusted him, she knew he would be gentle with her, and he was. Barely she knew he got her pregnant that same night. She was caring his child, and now she was his wife. She never thought she could find happiness but she did.
Looking at him, she smiled when he opened his eyes and she saw those blue eyes she loved so much
"Morning" she spoke "This time I beat you"
"I can see that" he stretched himself and rolling to his left, he supported himself in his elbow, looking at Ines. "Were you admiring the view?"
"Yes I was. I was thinking how hot my husband is" she giggled, making Luke laughed.
"Well I see the rain continues, so today I decided to stay at home, all day. Only the two of us"
"And R2!"
"I sent R2 to my sisters apartment. So it is really me with my wife. And I already know what we will do now?"
"Really? And what is it"
Winking at her, Luke stood up from the bed, naked and she couldn't help to admiring him.
"Come" and grabbing her he pick her up and they head towards the bathroom. When they entered in the shower, Luke turn on the taps, as the water fell on their bodies.
"Babe you need a hair cut" Ines said running her fingers to his bangs "They are already covering your eyes"
"I know. Turn around missy" he told and grabbing the bottle of shampoo, he put some on his hand and ran through Ines hair.
"I need a hair cut too" she said smiling because she already knew what his answer would be
"No you don't"
Ines laughed at that
"Luke, my hair is reaching my waist. I need to cut at least 4 fingers."
"That is too much. 2 at least" he said
"3 then"
"Fine. 3 fingers max. You know I love your long hair. It was one of the things that made me stare at you in that death star right after we left the garbage masher"
"Oh really?" Turning around she closed her eyes as the shampoo was wash away from her hair. "I remember we looked at each other" she continued as she open her eyes.
"I couldn't stop watching at your body too. So slim and perfect"
"I see you didn't see many girls like that back in Tatooine?" she smiled as he wash the shampoo from his hair.
"Not really" he said opening his eyes and looked at her
"Now look at me. Not so slim anymore" she pouted looking to her round belly.
Luke looked at her and rest his hands on it he rub it
"But there is a reason. That's my baby in there" he said as he leaned in and took her lips on his.
"I still can't believe we are going to have a baby. A little Skywalker" she wrapped her arms around his neck
"Hey, you slept with me, you get the risk to get pregnant" he laughed
"Please I hope this was only this time. When this one get out, make sure we have a few years before you get me pregnant again, Jedi"
Luke pulled her into a hug laughing
"No promises"
"Last night was amazing. The force bond we share made even more especial"
"I want you to see how much I want you and how much you mean to me. We only get things from granted until we almost lost them. And I got that the past week. Now I know what you fell while the Emperor was killing me."
"Don't remind me of that awful moment. I thought you would be dead in no time. I couldn't imagine not seeing you again. Not being in your arms, tasting your lips, hearing your voice."
"That was exactly what I felt, my love. I'm going to show you how much you mean to me. And last night was only the beginning."
"I love you" she smiled
"I love you more and more"
Smiling they kissed again, before talking out of the shower and drying themselves, they dressed and went to the kitchen.
It was hours after lunch. Luke and Ines just had lunch, when Luke grabbed Ines
"Babe, today we will make my favorite cake, that my aunt Beru used to do that I love: Blue Milk Cake"
Ines looked at him
"You know how to make a cake?"
"Of course" he said opening the cabins of the kitchen and bring out the ingredients they need to make it "I liked to help my aunt when the subject was deserts, when I was a young boy. She always asked my help"
"Let me guess, you liked to lick the spoon after it"
"You didn't?" He asked her
"Well we had a cook that make such delicious cakes and many times she called me and Leia and gave us the spoons for us to lick, even when we were older" she smiling, remembering those times when she was a young girl, years of thinking that the memories were the only thing she would have from her planet.
Luke looked at her
"Hey, no sad memories. Come here, let's start"
"Yes chef" she laughed "What do I do?"
"Crack the eggs and separate the white from yolk. The white goes here and yolk goes here" he pointing
"How can I do that?"
Luke looked at his wife
"You can't separate a simple egg?"
Ines looked at Luke. Did he thought she was useless?
"I'm sorry. I bet you regret now to be with me." she looked down "I'm a girl and I can't even crack an egg. How can I be a wife and mother?"
Luke pulled her into hug
"Hey don't say that. Not every girl needs to know how to do girl stuff, like cooking. And you will learn. You didn't know about the force and look at you now."
"That is different. I had a great teacher"
"So I will teach you this too. After all you can fight since you were young and I didn't, and you can do something I can't do and never will"
"What?"
"Caring my child and giving birth. It is not because you can't crack an egg that I would stop love you, cause that is never going to happen" he smiled kissing her.
"Teach me. I want to learn"
"That's my wife. Here, grabbed the eggs, hit gently on the surface of the bowl and then separate like this. See?"
Ines grabbed an egg but hit it a little to harsh.
"Gently babe." Luke grabbed the egg and did it himself. "Here try this one"
Ines grabbed the egg and hit gently
"That's it. Now separate the two parts"
Ines did what he was telling to do and smiled when she put the yolk in one bowl and white in the other.
"I did it. I crack my first egg 22 years later"
Luke laughed
"Okay let's continue"
And Ines followed Luke instructions as they were making the cake. After a while they put the mix in the oven.
"How long it will be there?" Ines asked
"Around 40 or 45 minutes"
"So what do we do now?" she asked and when she looked at him, he blow and hand filled with flour. Ines only had time to close her eyes.
When she opened her eyes, Luke was laughing.
"You look very white my love"
"You think this is funny? Look at my hair. I got a shower this morning Luke Skywalker"
"I couldn't resisted it"
Ines looked at him, grabbing an egg she smash on Luke's hair making him stop laughing when egg white and yolk just slipped from his hair to his face.
"There" Ines smirked "How about that?"
"You are in trouble now Ines Skywalker"
"Bring it on Jedi"
Luke grabbed an egg and smash on Ines hair, which with the flour her hair got all sticky.
Looking at him, she grabbed a handful of flour, which make Luke walked away
"Oh no."
"Come here" she was said laughing, but Luke kept walking away from her. Then Ines head an idea. Grabbing her belly she wince. Once Luke saw that, he ran towards her
"What is babe. Are you okay?"
And before he could do anything she throw the flour on his hair.
"Gotcha" she said laughing, making Luke grabbing her
"You sneaky" he smiled and pulled into a kiss.
"Now we need another shower" she said wrapped her arms around her neck, and winking at her, he picked her up and he headed them to the shower.
The hours passed, and as the night fell over Coruscant, it starting to rain again. It was late and Luke just came from the kitchen, with a plate on his hand of the cake they did that afternoon.
Ines was sitting on the bed, with her back rest on the pillow, as Luke got under the covers and handle a piece of the cake.
"It is delicious. No wonder you loved it. Your aunt would be proud" she smiled at him
"Thanks babe." after a minute or two of silence, Luke looked at Ines and putting the plate aside, he got closer to her and rubbing her belly, he leaning in and kissed it, smiling when he felt the baby move. Looked up at Ines, he remembered something.
"Luke what it is?" she asked him. She felt he wanted to ask something for a while now.
"Babe, remembered when we got here and Mon Mothma got this apartment, that belonged…"
"To former Queen and Senator Padmé Amidala" she completed making Luke nod.
"Yes"
"What about it?"
Sitting back he looked at her
"You said you remembered your father talking about her? What do you remember?"
Ines was surprise by that question.
"Not much. They didn't talk about her in front of me actually. When I got in the room, they usually change the subject. So what I remembered was eavesdropping before getting caught and being grounded." she smiled
"Tell me" he asked while he kept rubbing her belly.
"I remember my father talking with Bail Organa, about her death. Apparently they were there when she died."
"When did she die?"
"My mother was 5 months pregnant. So 23 years ago. It was 2 days after the Emperor formed the empire and the Jedi were purge."
"Did you hear where she died?"
"In an asteroid called something Massa. Let me see if I remember: Po...Polis Massa. Yes, I remembered they talked about that name. I remembered because I found the name funny. I was looking for it and it was located in the Subterrel sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories. But why are you asking me this, Luke? If you want to know about her, maybe you can look in the archives. We are in the Embassy building, you can access to the network and found out about her for sure."
Luke looked at his right hand, resting on her belly, smiling every time he felt a kick.
"You know how I get the herb that saved you both"
"Yes, You got it from an old lady in the lowest levels of the capital. I want to meet that Lady. She saved me and our little Ben's life"
Luke nod, remembered that night.
"She was from Naboo"
"How do you know?"
"When she gave me the herb, she told me she gave that to me because I was the son of her great Queen and Senator from Naboo"
Ines gasped
"Luke, are you saying that Queen she was talking about it is this Padmé?"
"It makes sense now. She told me she was there when my parents got married in secret and I look so much like my father. Now you said that Leia adopted father, Bail Organa was there when she died. Mon Mothma said she died in childbirth. My father said you would not die in childbirth like my mother did, when we were at that shuttle, when we were about to meet the Emperor"
"It make sense. That is why Leia ended up with him"
"And your father never wanted you near when they were talking about her" he told her
"Because I could tell Leia something I shouldn't" she smiled
"And because they knew we would end up together and you were too young to know that." he smiled leaning in and kissed her.
Smiling Ines looked at him.
"My father was the only one who never laughed when I kept saying I would not married with anyone from Alderaan, but with the boy of blond hair and blue eyes that I saw in my dreams. Actually the first time he told that he was shock" she remembered that day.
"What?" he asked
Ines smiled
"I forgot to tell you this, but when I was 10, I had a dream, well I thought I had dream, maybe was the force back then. Anyway I had a dream of a boy. He was around my age, he had blond hair and blue eyes. He was wearing this white outfit and was what seems a desert planet" he said looking at him.
Luke smiled at that
"That boy was me."
"Now I know it was" she smiled back.
"Now I know that it was you I saw in my dreams too. I also dreamed of a young girl, with brown hair and amber eyes, she was dressed differently from any other girls of my age. She was in a green place, near the water. She looked like she was swimming. I was 11 when I had that dream. It was you. We dreamed about each other when we were kids"
"You never told me that, before"
"I forgot with time. Never thought of that, until Leia talk about a kid that was after you but you said you would be with the guy with blond hair and blue eyes, when we were saying our goodbyes. And I remembered my dream, right there. We were meant to be together"
"And we are" she smiled
"Yes we are. That boy you dream and the girl I dreamed are now expecting a little boy of their own" Luke smiled at her. "Did I ever tell you I love you?"
"Yes, but I don't mind to hear" she giggled
"I love you" he said
"I love you too" as they kissed.
Ines lay back, and Luke reached her belly and kissing it he said
"Goodnight Ben. Father loves you too" making Ines smile at that. She couldn't choose a better father for her baby.
Laying too, he pull her back into his arms, and they fell asleep on each other arms.
Just like there was a chapter with Han and Luke, this chapter was dedicated only to Luke and Ines. There will be one only with Luke and Leia. Luke is certain her mother is Padmé now. Will he talk to Leia about it? Or he will talk to the lady first? And how he will find out more about it?
