Chapter 4: Bridging the gap [part 11]
In the end, Ichigo Kurosaki saved the day, with the help of Renji, who managed to take Rukia away from the Sokyuko, where fighting between Ichigo and Byakuya took place.
The fight was so grand that everyone in the Seiretie saw the black gitsuga, clashing with Byakuya's white Emperor sword.
But in the final clash, Byakuya's resolve was defeated.
And thus, he promised not to pursue Rukia any more to kill her.
The height of his convection in upholding the law.
The tipping point.
For he had done all he could, and put everything on the line, but his principles were defeated by Kurosaki's convection.
Because deep inside, he knew that somehow… he was on the wrong side of the road.
And despite Kurosaki being young and naïve, he was correct.
He won.
And now he must back out.
The excuse he badly needed to balance his two promises, and obligations.
And for that…
He was grateful.
Grateful to be defeated.
"You won" Byakuya uttered before he disappeared from the Sokyuko, to find Rukia and protect her. Now that he was out of his restraint. His responsibilities.
.
.
And just before Rukia get stabbed by the traitor Gin Ichimaru, he was able to save her.
"Why?!" Rukia cried out, as she looked at her savior, who at the last moment came and took the blade that was meant for her.
The time seemed to stop for the both of them, as Byakuya looked at Rukia whose surprised and anguished eyes, revealed her concern for his safety.
"Why for me, Nii-sama?" she asked with quivering voice, feeling unworthy of Byakuya's sacrifice.
At this, he could not answer her.
For words isn't enough to summarize the reasons he's dying to save her.
The one he loves the most in the world.
To be continued….
