10:30 AM
The sun was bright. The ocean's gentle roar could be heard over the chirping and general movement of the wildlife. He waited for her to emerge.
She came up behind him, and blinded by the light ran straight into his back.
"Ow!" She rubbed her nose. "Sorry! I didn't see you there."
"Are you always so clumsy?" He asked. He had seen her stumble, fall, trip, and just be a general menace to herself time and time again, even during battle some pebble always seemed to have a vendetta against her.
She frowned at the question. "I am not clumsy! I'll have you know that humans do not have the same reaction speed as demons, we are not clumsy, you are just supernaturally graceful." She huffed, hands at her hips.
"Rin does not stumble nearly as much as you." He countered.
She blushed and replied, "I may be a little clumsier than her, but she was also practically raised by you, she was taught to be graceful."
"Hn." He returned. Perhaps she was right. Rin was starting to take after him in many ways. Her walk was definitely more graceful, though she tended to prefer skipping. Her speech also resembled his, as did her mannerisms. Though she never looked down at anyone, she held herself to a higher standard. Especially when in formal situations. Back always straight, feet silent, and an air of poise that did not match her age.
He could picture her standing next to him, their postures the same, dressed in the fine clothes that perfectly matched his. The picture in his mind rippled, and suddenly, standing next to them was Kagome. Her face smiling, dressed in similar fashion to Rin and himself, holding her head up high. His chest tightened at the image that could never be.
He mentally shook himself from his thoughts and brought his hand out to Kagome. She looked up at him a little perplexed. He raised an eyebrow and she smiled. She put her hand in his and he led her up to the hot springs they always used when visiting. The sun was bright but the day remained cool, and the hot springs he had in mind were also well secluded.
