Goren came back the next day to talk with the Chief of Ds upon wrapping up the case. He had gotten a fresh haircut and shaved, doing his best to give off model employee vibes. She saw him arrive first thing walking to their desk but then walking past to enter Captain Ross' office. She had reluctantly joined them shortly after.
Goren was bathed in a smug satisfaction that he was to get his job back. He rocked on his feet like an eager addict awaiting their first hit. He was about to demand his job back but before he utter the words and possibly jeopardize his chances to come back, Captain Ross stepped in. He smoothly asked that Goren be allowed back given the success of the last case. When he got his shield and gun back, the look on his face made Eames want to vomit. Eames gritted her teeth. His smug look pissed her off more.
Afterwards, he walked to their desk, happy and ready to do what he always did: pretend nothing happened.
She was not going to let him off that easy. He really thinks that he is entitled. He believes his actions don't have consequences. That it didn't effect me.
Goren pulled his chair out and sat down. Eames went to grab her things, shuffling them quickly in her messenger bag. She couldn't stand to share the same space with him, at the moment. Upon seeing her actions, Goren said,"I'll see you in the morning."
She sucked her lips in tight in an angry expression. "Yup." she left without any other word.
Goren settled into his desk eager to start work, organizing his things when he opened his drawer. What appeared before him was a large dead rat. The message was clear he had no friends.
He'd hope he would at least have Eames. She would understand why it was a big deal to get my job back. She would be excited to work with me again. But she wasn't. She was still angry.
Goren understood some part of why she was angry. Still, he felt having his job back took precedence over how he got it back and her resulting anger. She should get it. Why doesn't she get it?
