Chapter 5: A new start [part 1]

The battle had ended, at the revelation of Rukia's execution and the treachery of the three captains.

And now the entire Soul Society, is recuperating from the battles that took placed.

Some were grateful that the chaos ended, and yet, most felt glum at the loss.

While Byakuya felt liberated somehow, after he confessed the truth about Rukia's adoption, his reason for not saving her, and knowing what he should be doing.

As he had apologized to her.

Byakuya stared at his hand, that Rukia had held, as he held it out to her, for forgiveness and connection.

The first time he had held her hand with her permission, after that very long time, memories of the past.

And it had felt warm.

Her hands were so small compared to his, that he wanted to hold it forever.

A smile appeared in his face, thankful that no one could witness his time of honest expression.

And somehow, it's enough…

On the other hand, Kuchiki manor were in somewhat chaotic state, as they assist their Lady in her mission to cook something for the head of the Kuchiki clan, who was in his living quarters after being allowed to return home, recuperating from his injuries.

At first, she baked sweets for him, but the cook told her that Byakuya does not like sweets.

At this fact, Rukia felt horrible, for she doesn't even know what Byakuya liked and disliked.

She almost know nothing about the man she had lived with for 50 years!

How come?

In the end, she had managed to cook a spicy soup for him, as she was told that Byakuya liked spicy foods.

She took a deep sigh, and prepared to deliver the food herself, despite the servants convincing her against straining herself.

But she stubbornly insisted.

For serving him some food, is rather inconsequential compared to what he did for her, and her biological sister- Byakuya's late wife, Hisana Kuchiki.

And thus she promised to repay him somehow.

I will do my best!
