Bella PoV

The sound of an old engine roaring woke me. It felt familiar and I instinctly knew I was in my truck. My moving truck.

Why was it moving? And why was I here? The last thing I remembered was Jacob and me and the meadow and...

Vivid images came into my head, images so pure and erotic I blushed like a tomato.

I heard someone humming beside me, singing a very quiet song. I recognised it as one of the Quileute songs I had once heard Billy sing. So it must be Jake driving

I guessed that he didn't know I was awake and for a few minutes I let him believe that, breathing evenly and keeping very still. It was still too early to look him in the face after all the things that had happened; all the things he had done to me.

Apart from that I liked to hear him sing, even as lightly as now. He had a pleasant voice, a deep, rumbling tone and it added to the beauty of his being and the heat of his body. It all added up to one thing: Home

The movement stopped. The engine was shut down. The old leather of the driver's seat creaked and I felt something gently touching my face.

"Bells" he said gently. "You have to wake up now, sunshine. We are home, Charlie will be waiting for you."

I yawned and acted like I was just waking up now. Squinting, I turned my head until I saw Jacob smiling softly down at me. One hand was playing with a strand of my hair, the other was placed on my thigh. When he saw that I was awake, he put a small kiss on my lips. "Hey there, sleepyhead."

"You could have just woke me up you know?" I yawned again.

"I know, but you looked so peaceful and calm and I didn't want to wake you. Besides, you weigh little more than a feather anyway", he joked and gently stroked my cheek.

Outside the sun was sending its last rays over the horizon, marking the end of our time together. I smiled back at him, placing his hand firmly at my hot cheek. His heat went over to my body and I sighed happily. "You really are the best heater in the world."

I felt the chuckle more than I heard it. "I am everything you need me to be, Bells, even a heater." With these words he reached behind me and opened the door. Cool night air blew in, waking me up fully. "It's getting dark. You should go inside or we risk Charlie forbidding me to ever see you again."

"Yes I know." I knew what he said was right but it was so difficult letting him go. "Can I come see you tomorrow?"

He grimaced. "It's better I come and see you. I don't know what Sam has in stock for us and I don't want you driving down needlessly. I'll be here as soon as I can, alright?" He kissed me one last time before gently pushing me towards the open truck door. "Go on now. I promise I'll see you tomorrow."

Reluctantly I did as he said. He handed me my empty bag and slammed the door of my truck shut. It gave in with an alarming screeching sound. Jake looked at the truck ad frowned. "You should definitely let me have a look at that. I don't want you driving around in a car that is halfway falling apart.

"Okay, now I feel like I am really using you. First as a heater now as a mechanic", I protested and was greeted by a cheeky grin. "As I said, everything you need me to be. Apart from that, you can repay me with another one of these sandwiches you made for me today. "

"Rather a whole dinner..." I murmured, looking sadly at my old truck. I really loved this car but I knew the time and money it would take to repair it and make it safe again was probably far more than it was actually worth. But I had no money for buying a new one and besides, I had been the first "gift" I had received from Jacob who had given it a makeover after Charlie had bought it from his father.

"Don't worry, once I'm finished with it, it will run to infinity and beyond." Jake winked at me then kissed me lightly on the lips. "Sleep well Bells and don't let any more vampires in your house, alright?"

I grinned back. "I won't, promise." One last hug then I made my way back to my house. Before I entered it, I looked back over my shoulder but Jacob had already disappeared.

Two weeks went by. The pattern was usually the same. I went to school where I tried to renew my friendships with Mike, Jessica, Angela and Ben. Jessica didn't seem very pleased to have me back after my avoiding them the last few weeks but the others were gladly accepting me in their middle again and with time even Jessica got used to me hanging around. After school I went home, doing my homework, calling my mom and cooking for Charlie. Jake came by nearly every day. Sometimes in the afternoon, sometimes in the evenings where he joined us for dinner. A few times he brought his dad along too which was a clever way of making sure that we had some time alone together in my room while the grown-ups were watching TV.

The weeks were peaceful and as normal as living with a werewolf boyfriend and being hunted by a vampire could be. Victoria didn't show up during this time, a fact that I was grateful for but worried Sam.

"He doesn't think she'd just give up after all these months chasing after you. He thinks she must be up to something and it makes him nervous that he doesn't know what it is." Jacob told me one night while we lay on my bed, listening to some music.

I know someone who might know... "I can understand that but what else can we do? We have to wait for her to make her next move and just have to be prepared for whatever it is."

"Yes but it must be something big if she holds back this long. We don't know what we have to prepare for. Everyone is wound up, nervous and easy to blow. Sam makes us run patrols around the clock to let them blow out some steam but this will only work for so long. I hate to say it but I almost wish for the blo- vampire to make her move so this whole thing can finally be over once and for all."

"But aren't you afraid that her plan may be... I don't know, too big. I know how strong you are and that you are more than capable of defeating an army of vampires, but she knows that too and she'll prepare for this. She knows she has to land a big blow if she wants to have a chance of winning."

"That's what worrying me too. I tried to talk to Sam about it but he is too busy keeping the others at heel and thinking about what her plan could be. But whatever she'll come up with, I know we can defeat her. And then we can finally have the peace and quiet we deserve." He smiled. I cocked my head. "Peace and quiet? In a place crowded with werewolves? Not very likely..."

"As much of peace and quiet there can be in a place surrounded by werewolves then."

I would think of this evening a lot in the days to come. It had been such a nice evening, just two teenagers talking, listening to music, and sometimes kissing. A normal and happy evening. Nothing like the weeks that would follow.
