Chapter 51

Carly had just been to an A.A. meeting at the hospital when she ran into Jack in the hallway. A bit surprised she looked at him;" What are you doing here?"

"I came to see if you're okay." answered he;" Rosanna told me that you were here when I called the house."

When Carly didn't respond jack pulled her into his arms and made her look up at him;" Are you okay?"

"Jack..." sighed his ex wife tired as she pulled away from him;" We can't do this in public."

"To hell with what other people think or say. I don't care who might see us together like this!" replied Jack irritated and tried to pull her back into his arms, but to his surprise she pulled away again;" Carly…."

"You're still married to Janet and she isn't going to give you a divorce any time soon. We can't be doing this in public and give her another reason to be mad at you or me for that matter!" answered she nearly in tears;" There's nothing that I want more then to be able to…."

"I know." said her ex softly, taking her hand into his;" It's not going to be like this forever. I'm gonna get Janet to sign those papers, no matter what it takes, and we will be together again, forever!"

"I have to go." replied Carly and quickly walked away, not able to handle being near Jack and not burst out into tears. And that was the last thing that she wanted to be doing in public;" I'm sorry."

Less than twenty minutes later Carly came home. Not in the mood to talk to anyone she went up to her bedroom quickly after telling her sister that she was tired and not to be disturbed unless it was by her kids.

As soon as she got upstairs and into her bedroom Carly heard a car pull up and a car door being slammed shut, knowing full well that it was Jack, and not long after that she heard the doorbell ringing downstairs.

To her surprised there was a knock on her bedroom door a few minutes later and annoyed Carly saw it was Jack when she opened up the door;" What are you doing here, Jack? I made it pretty clear to Rosanna that I didn't want to be disturbed."

"Don't get mad at her, Carly. I didn't give her much of a choice." replied he, walking into her bedroom and closing the door;" Why did you run off like that?"

"Can we please not do this right now?" asked his ex irritated;" Sage is up in her room and the boys can be home any minute!"

"I just want to know why you ran off like that!" answered Jack confused about Carly's behavior;" Did I do something wrong? If I did then please tell me!"

"Maybe I'm just tired of it all. Maybe I just can't do this anymore!" sighed she nearly in tears and sat down on the bed;" In two days it's valentine's day and we were suppose to be together, Jack! You promised me!"

"We are together!" said her ex frustrated as he sat down next to her;" Let's go out in public right now! Let's show the whole world that we're together! I don't care who finds out!"

"You're still married to Janet!" replied Carly angry, jumping up from the bed;" She's still your wife and if she has anything to say about it that will never change, Jack! There's no way in hell that she will ever let you go to go back to me!"

"That's not her choice to make and I am with you now. There's not a damn thing that she can do about that." answered he and quickly stopped Carly when she wanted to open up the bedroom door again and leave;" We're together! I love you and I will get Janet to give me a divorce. You're the only one that I will ever want! I need you, Lady!"

"I love you too, G-man." said his ex with a sigh;" That was never the problem."

"This time things will be different, Carly! This time it will be forever." promised Jack as he pulled her into his arms;" I know that's difficult with valentine's day ahead and that I haven't giving you much reason to trust me, but it won't be like this forever and we will overcome this."

"I hope so." replied she softly;" I hope you're right."

"We belong together, lady." smiled her ex, gently kissing Carly, before he walked away again, leaving her behind longing for more;" Forever!"
