Goodbye, Hello
Eren's voice reached out to all. "To all the subjects of Ymir. My name is Eren Yeager. I'm using the power of the founding titan to address all of Ymir's subjects. The hardening of all the walls present on Paradise Island has come undone and all titans entrapped within have started marching. My objective is to protect the people of Paradise, the place where I was born and raised. However, the world wishes for the annihilation of the people of Paradise. The hatred that has been swelling up for so long will certainly not end until not just the Paradisians, but all of Ymir's subjects have been eliminated. I reject this wish. The wall titans shall trample all earth outside of this island underfoot. Until all life existing there has been exterminated from this world."
...
Rain stood on Eren's new titan form's head. His long boney bone trailed behind as the titans that were hidden in the walls marched along side him. Her mind flashed back to her time on Marley, her training.
W9147 dashed through the six people that had been assigned to train with her today. A few yards off several scientists and doctors were watching her progress as she dodged and attack.
"You're not going to get me," a man said.
W9147 charged at him. He readied a punch. She headed right then dodged left at the last second. He swung and missed. While he stood in shock she jumped and slammed her heel into the back of his neck.
The man screamed. "You brat! You broke my neck!"
She turned from him and charged at another then another and another until they all were on the ground.
"Amazing," a scientist said as he scribbled something in his notebook. "She took them all out in a few minutes."
"Yes, she is certainly special." Dae nodded, looking proud as if he had a hand in her skills.
W9147 huffed and puffed while wiping sweat off her face. She wondered if anyone knew how Dae really treated her. Not that they would care. No one did. She was only an experiment to them. A slave.
"That will be enough for today," a doctor said. "You've earned some time outside."
"Yes, sir. Thank you." W9147 said.
"I suppose that would be all right." Dae walked over to her. Patting her head he bent down and lowered his voice. "But you only have one hour. If you go one minute over that I will find you and you will regret it."
"Yes, Mister Dae. I understand."
"Good girl." Dae patted her head too hard.
When he was done W9147 dashed away from them. Weaving through the halls she found the door and left the building. The sun was already setting. She didn't have long so she rushed through the town to get to the one place she wanted to be.
The ocean looked like it was on fire from the sunset. Sitting down she watched and wondered what it was like out there.
"Oh, hello," a man said.
"Huh? Who are you?" W9147 asked.
He smiled. "I am Eren Kruger."
"I'm-"
"W9147." Eren nodded. "I know all about you."
"You do?"
"I do. W9147 is your code name. It's what they call you because you never had a real name."
W9147 watched him. "Are you here to train me? Did Dae sent you?"
"No, I have nothing to do with Dae. I'm sorry that he treats you so badly, Little Wings."
"Little Wings?" W9147 blinked.
"I think I'm going to call you that from now on." Eren smiled. "Sounds so much better than a letter and numbers." He put his hand in his pocket then held it out to her. "Here. It's chocolate."
"Chocolate?"
"It's a sweet treat. It's for you. Go ahead. Try it."
W9174 took the treat. "It's good."
The two sat in quiet for a while.
W9147 gasped. "Oh no! I'm going to be punished!"
"What do you mean?"
"My handler, Dae, will hurt me if I'm not back in five minutes!"
Eren scooped her up in his arms and took off running.
W9174 tensed. "Wh-what are you doing?"
"Getting you back so you won't be late." Eren smiled.
Rain sighed. I remember. The only time I didn't suffer or feel pain was with him. If only he didn't have to die. If only the Marleyens didn't mess with our bodies. She gritted her teeth. They will pay for this.
Finally the time for her to split off from Eren came. Pressing her palm to her horn she jumped off Eren's head and flew away from him. During her flight a painful emptiness settled into her chest. Tears swelled in her eyes. It was the same feeling she had when her dad died. Hange...
Rain took a deep breath and let it out. Determination settled inside of her as the sight of her destination appeared. She landed beside the building and pulled from her titan form. Screams and heavy footsteps faded as she entered into the building.
She remembered it well. The color of the dingy brown walls. The smell of medications and sterilization. It was all the same after all these years.
The only difference was the yelling of the people inside. They were panicking like those outside, running around in an attempt to gather what they thought was important before trying to flee from the titans coming their way.
They weren't going to make it. Before they noticed her, Rain attacked. She knocked them out, preventing them from escaping, as she worked her way through the building. They weren't the one she was really after. Then she finally found him. He was coming out of a room, arms full of papers.
The man's eyes widened. "W9147."
"That's right. Your test subject has returned," Rain said. She marched forward. When he tried to get around her she kicked at his leg. His bone snapped. He cried out and hit the floor.
"You witch! How dare you-"
Rain kicked him in the mouth, though not hard enough to break his teeth out. She grabbed him and pulled him to the roof.
"P-please... let me go," Dae stuttered.
"Soon enough you will go." Rain looked out at the Rumbling. "In a few minutes the Rumble will decide where you live or die."
"You... you're not going to kill me?"
Rain closed her eyes. "Who knows? I should. You've taken so much from me. All of you who turned me into this."
"I had nothing to do with that!" Dae said. "I was only your handler!"
"I know." Rain landed a kick on his arm. The bone snapped. Dae screamed. "You were the main reason for the pain I went through." She kicked his other arm, breaking it as well. "Maybe I should keep you alive. I love the way you scream."
She looked up at the sky. I can feel my titan purpose coming through despite this man not being a titan. But is this really what I want? Do I want to kill him by my own hands? What would Levi say? What would Dad say? What would Eren Kruger say? I am a warrior. I am a soldier. I am a titan shifter. I am a human. I am too many things. And I am tired. Eren, it's time to end this.
As Dae wailed on the rooftop, Rain looked out at the Rumbling. It had stopped.
Rain closed her eyes with an exhale. Eren's presence vanished from her body and soul, as did her titan powers. The only thing that remained of her titan experience were her memories and her horns. She whispered, "Goodbye, Beast Titan."
Dae laughed. "Well, looks like I get to live after all. Thank you, W9147. Thank you for-"
Rain jumped and kicked him in the mouth. Teeth and blood threw through the air. "You talk way too much."
Dae wailed. "You sdupid nitch! Our gonin to pa-ah!"
Rain watched as the man stumbled around, trying to stop the bleeding by pressing his mouth into his shoulder. His feet collided with the edge of the roof. She closed her eyes as he fell over the side with one last cry until it was abruptly cut off. "Well, guess he dies after all."
With a sigh of relief, Rain walked to the fire escape. Climbing down she headed through the mess that Eren had caused. Those who remained paid her no attention as they were too busy searching for loved ones and being relieved that it was over. She spotted her friends, but didn't go to them. She continued walking until she found who she was looking for. Levi was leaning up against a rock, face wrapped in bandages, blood on his leg, and looking exhausted. Her heart sunk. He had been hurt. By Zeke.
"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to come over here." Levi looked at her.
Rain walked closer. "I didn't know if you'd want me to."
"What are you talking about?"
"I went with Eren. I helped him make this happen." Rain waved her hand around.
"Eren made that decision on his own. You didn't."
Rain wrapped her arms around herself. "I didn't try to stop him."
"You couldn't have anyway and you know it. Now shut up and get over here. Now."
Rain couldn't stop from obeying. Tears streaming down her face, she feel to Levi's side and hugged him. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Levi stroked her hair. "It's okay. It's over now."
Rain continued to cry against him for a few minutes more before telling him what she had done and how her titan powers were gone.
Levi's eyes lifted to her horns. "Those aren't gone."
"I noticed." Rain touched her horns. "I guess since they were made differently from my titan form I'm going to always have them."
"You wouldn't be you without them." Levi flicked her nose then told her what happened that caused him to be in such a mess, even about Hange's death.
Rain nodded. She had felt Hange leave them. Tears stung her eyes as a hand landed on her shoulder. Turning she found her dad, Hange, and everyone else who had died watching her and Levi. "Daddy?"
Erwin smiled. "I'm proud of you Rain."
Tears flowed down her cheeks. She nodded.
...
"So we're finally going back to Paradise. Hard to believe it's been three years." Rain looked out the zeppelin window. It had been three long years since the Rumbling had ended. Their group had remained in Marley. Mostly to heal from their battle, Levi had gain some serious injuries, but also to help restore what had been damaged and make relationships better between Paradise and Marley.
Though nothing could be done about Levi's damaged eye and missing fingers, the doctors were able to save his leg. He was still recovering from it and learning how to walk again.
During those years they had discovered some of the scientists and doctors who had worked on her had survived the Rumbling. With some heavy persuasion, they got all the documents related to her titan transformation and confirmed what she had remembered. They also learned that her horns could never be removed since they were embedded in her brain. Rain found she didn't mind. She had grown use to them, though she did miss her wings. And since her titan powers were gone no one was able to control her through her horns now.
They destroyed the documents in hopes they would never be used to make another beast titan.
"Are you nervous about returning home?" Gabi asked. She was sitting beside Falco opposite of Rain and Levi.
Rain turned and sat beside Levi. "No, not really. I am a bit about meeting up with Historia and seeing her kid. Hard to believe she's married and has a three year old."
"I'm sure she'll be glad to see you again." Levi patted Rain's knee.
Rain nodded, though she wasn't really sure what to expect. She knew Eren had spoken with Historia on a lot of what he was planning to do, but she didn't know what all Historia did know or how she felt about everything.
A few hours later they landed on Paradise. Rain helped get Levi and his wheelchair off the zeppelin then turned to get someone's arms around her.
"Rain! I was so worried about you!" Historia cried. "I've missed you!" She pulled back and glared at her. "Don't you ever do this again!"
Rain blinked multiple times. "I'm sorry. How did you even know we were arriving?"
"I had the pilot call in to the island," Levi said.
Rain looked at him then at Historia. "Then you've been..."
"Staying here for a few days. I wanted to see you as soon as I could." Historia hugged her again. "I've really missed you. I'm so glad you're okay. You are okay, aren't you?"
"Yes." Rain nodded and hugged her friend back.
"Welcome home, Rain," Historia said.
"Yeah. It's good to be home." Rain smiled.
...
Author's Notes: Yeah, so not happen with these last few chapters, but no idea how to make it better. Anyways, I have no idea if Levi is in a wheelchair for life for not now. He has his right leg over his left so he either still has his leg or has some form of replacement.
