This is part two of "2.20 What Is and What Should Never Be"

The next day, Josie woke up first before Dean, she left him a note that she went to work. Dean took a shower and went to his mother's house, in time for Sam and Jessica arriving to Mary's for her birthday. Meanwhile, Josie was getting the venue ready, it was a small birthday with close family and friends.

"Hello Deano!" Josie greeted, calling Dean to remind him to get ready, she knew he could get carried away. "Where are you now?"

"Hey babe, I'm heading back home to get ready for tonight." Dean told her, as he was driving back to his house. "Where are you?"

"On the way too." Josie told him. "We should be ready in an hour, I'm done with the birthday setup stuff, I'm already tired I don't feel like attending." She laughed.

"Well, Sam and Jess are here." Dean told her. "They are at mom's; everyone is getting ready."

"Yeah, your mom told me on the phone." Josie sounded exhausted, "Dean, bring me some coffee on the way back please, you know from our favorite café."

They finished their call and went back home to get ready; time was starting to be an issue so they got ready as fast as they could. Josie wore a short black dress with a silver flat sandals, she wore her hair loosely as she did not have much time to do more, put on some makeup to hide her tired face, yet it did match her outfit; it was simple as she needed to continue supervising the party, to make sure everything was going accordingly. Dean on the other hand was wearing a black shirt and a blazer Josie got for him. They arrived at the party and spent some time with their families, Josie could not enjoy the party as she should be, checking on the food and drinks and everyone, she did not spend much time with Dean leaving him with his brother and mother.

"Babe, special order!" Josie said with a wide smile, she put a plate with a double cheeseburger and fries on the table in front of Dean. "I knew the food your mom picked isn't your thing." She whispered in Dean's ears. "Enjoy." She said kissing his cheek as she collapsed on her chair next to him, waiting for her food to arrive like the rest of the guests.

After dinner, Sam announced that him and Jessica got engaged, everyone greeted them and Dean was incredibly happy, seeing that his younger brother got everything he ever wanted, a nice normal life. Dean congratulated his brother, and they had a heart-to-heart conversation, Sam was confused at first, since Dean was being caring and loving, admitting to his older brother that they were not close, and they only talked in holidays.

While Dean was talking to his brother, he saw something that made him snap, he saw a pale girl in a white dirty dress, it did not look anything from this world, it looked it was from a different world, a world full of ghosts and evil filthy monsters. Dean walked away from Sam, he wanted to see closer, but by the time he got to the girl, she disappeared like a ghost, just vanished.

"Hey, what's wrong babe?" Josie asked looking at Dean, "You look like you just saw a ghost!" she remarked, she did not know how right she was.

"I thought I saw someone, but I was wrong." Dean lied, sighing.

"Oh, okay!" Josie shrugged, "I'm tired baby, let's go home."

"Sure, nothing more to do here anyway." Dean admitted, he looked confused and sad.

"Are you okay?" Josie asked again. "You look weird."

"Let's talk later, I'll go say goodbye to mom." Dean said and Josie shrugged, they went to greet the family and excuse themselves.

"So, what was wrong with you? You looked; well, you still look weird." Josie asked, both her and Dean were in his car, on their way home. "What did this brother of yours said to you that made you off?"

"Well, he just told me the truth," Dean admitted. "He told me that we were never close."

"Well, who wants to be close to this tall boring idiot?" Josie cut him off, huffing. "Sam, ugh!"

Dean looked at her confused, raised an eyebrow. "Josie, really?"

"Yeah, I never liked this snobby brother of yours. Oh, look at me, I'm Sammy, I went to law school me me me." Josie mocked; Dean could not help but laugh. This new universe was not that perfect after all.

"Josie," he sighed, "He is right, I'm a drunk idiot and didn't care much about family."

"Still, you are tolerable, you are cool, careless bitch but cool, but Sam, damn he is dull." She teased Dean. "I love me some bad boy." She said winking at Dean.

Once Josie and Dean arrived home, she threw her shoes across the living room, walking bare feet. "Oh my God, what a day." She sighed jumping into the couch.

"You did a great job babe," Dean said smiling at her as he took his jacket off, sitting next to her.

"Thank you, your mom was really happy," Josie said pulling out her phone after she heard it ringing, "she even sent me a thank you, aww so sweet. I'm glad she is having fun, especially after John's death, you know." She told Dean getting up, "I'll change and get a drink, do you want something?"

"Just a beer please!" Dean smirked and she nodded.

"Sure thing"

Josie went to take a quick shower and change, while Dean changed into a sweat-pants and a t-shirt, back on the couch he turned on the TV as he grabbed the drink Josie did not get, his eyes widened watching the news, What Dean saw made his heart skip a beat, stomach sank. Many accidents happened that year, many people died, people he knew for sure he saved in REAL life, but here, and since the Winchesters are no longer work as monster hunters, all these people died.

Josie walked out of her room seeing Dean's eyes glued to the news, she did not talk to him seeing that he was listening carefully as his face was a bit pale. "Babe, you okay?!" she asked softly, drinking some of his beer.

"No," he sighed turning the television off, "I…" he did not finish his sentence as he turned to look at Josie, seeing the same girl he saw before again, she was standing behind Josie, and the girl couldn't look worse, she was dying. Josie turned to see what was behind her that made Dean look terrified, but she saw nothing.

"Dean, what is happening?"

"You won't believe me if I told you!" he said, looking back at his wife as the ghost vanishes.

"Try me!" she said taking another sip of the almost empty beer, "But if you gonna go crazy talk, I need another one of these, I'm too tired and stressed to go clean for the baby now!" she said finishing off the beer, putting the bottle back on the coffee table.

Dean smiled nervously and got up to bring the drinks, he sat down next to Josie and told her everything that has been happening to him in the back couple of days. Josie looked shocked as he kept on talking, he told her that he believes this is all an illusion, he was fighting a Djinn and suddenly he found himself in bed with her, he does not know how. He told her that his mother is dead in real life, and that Josie herself has been missing for a few months and he does not know what to do now, and if this was all an illusion, how to stop it.

"Dean what the actual fuck?!" Josie gasped in disbelieve. "I, I," she got up and started pacing the living room shaking her head, trying to figure out what was wrong with Dean. "I don't believe this Dean, how the hell? I'm real I know, this is real, our life, our marriage, how is that not real?"

"I'm telling you," Dean sighed scratching his head, he hated making her upset even if she was not real and he knew it. "I think this Djinn thing put me in a state of coma or a dream, I have the perfect life, but it isn't," he sighed again as he trailed off. "First off, I don't get along with Sam, you don't get along with Sam, also everyone I saved is just dead, years and years of saving people is gone just like that."

"Saving people, your job is to save cars not people Dean, wake up!" Josie yelled at him, almost screaming. "This is our life, our future, please stop this nonsense." She said, on the edge of crying.

"Do you trust me?" He asked, getting up walking to stand in front of her.

"Yes, I trust you and I love you, but I don't believe this!"

"I hate this more than anything, I hate that I have to do this and leave you." Dean said holding her. "But so many lives depend on me."

"Why Dean? Why? Why do you have to do this?" Josie said as she started crying in his arms.

Dean did not answer her, holding her tightly, looking sadly at his Wedding photo that had his whole family smiling. He was heartbroken but he made his decision, he could not live an illusion even if his life seemed perfect, he would not be happy knowing that this was not real, it seems like a perfect life, but it was not his. He needed to go back and kill that monster, and he knew where to start exactly.

Dean drove back to his mother's house to get a sliver knife as he did not have any in his house. Only problem that Sam caught Dean, the younger brother was confused as he did not buy the fake story Dean was telling him, Sam insisted to go with Dean wherever he was going. Both brothers drove into the night to Illinois, to the abandoned warehouse Dean was at before the monster attacked him. There they find the girl Dean has been seeing; she was being held captive by the djinn, and she appeared to be hallucinating.

Seeing the girl, Dean started to have a massive headache, seeing flashes of his real life, he saw the girl and he believed he was there with her at the same place. He started to feel the reality, he started to feel his pain, he was now sure everything was happening was an illusion, a sweet, sweet life he will never have, if this girl was dying, he will probably die too. Dean's mind was about to explode, he saw Josie appearing suddenly in front of him.

"Dean," she called smiling, "you don't have to go." Josie said walking towards him, she looked beautiful with her summer simple dress, he could smell her perfume. "I love you, we could have a life here, family." She begged. "What is there to go back to?" she asked, "Nothing, no life, no family, nothing. You said it yourself, you lost me!"

"I can't Josie, you are not even real!" Dean shook his head. She took his hands in hers reaching to kiss his cheek.

"I am," she said kissing his lips softly. "I love you, stay with us!" as she finished her sentence, Dean's whole family appeared, his mother, his brother and Jessica. "if you leave us now, you will lose me forever, I could be dead."

"NO!" Dean moved away from her. "I have to go back, this is not real, you are not real." He kept repeating his words over and over, waking up in real life, in the same old warehouse the monster was hiding in. He saw his younger brother trying to set him free. Dean tried to save the girl – the one he saw in his illusion – doing that, the djinn attacks the brothers, and although he was tired and drained, Dean managed to fight the monster killing it, seeing himself free from any illusion, even though it broke his heart, again.

"Are you okay?" Sam asked driving the car, after they made sure the girl was safe in a hospital. "well, other than being almost dead?" he laughed nervously.

"Not really," Dean sighed, drinking from a small bottle of water as he was dehydrated from the fight and the state the djinn put him into. "that monster pulled a very nasty trick on me, he made me realize that our lives," he paused. "Don't take this the wrong way, but our life is shit!"

"What the hell are you talking about?" Sam protested. Dean took a deep breath telling his brother what happened in his head, how he had a life he loved and even though it was not perfect, it was great, at least he had a family. Listening carefully, Sam smiled sadly at his brother, he did not know what to say to comfort his brother. Dean was not in a good mental of physical state, his older brother was frustrated, counting his loses.

"Dean, we will find Josie." Sam finally said, he had nothing else in mind to say.

Dean did not answer, looking out the window as they kept driving into the dark night.
