Eleanor's Stand flies forward and kicks Jefferson. He's more than strong enough to block the kick, but the change in gravity throws him off balance. He stumbles back as he is pulled away from Eleanor by the altered gravity. The Stand strikes him again and the pull increases, dragging him away down the road.
Jefferson switches to speed mode and runs as fast as he can, sprinting against the pull of gravity. As he closes in on Eleanor, he finally gets a good look at her Stand. It's a dark green robot made of bolted metal, with fingers like talons and a large, pointed, nose that makes it resemble a plague doctor. Fire burns within its skull, visible through its empty eye sockets and jagged, imposing maw. Its skull comes to a point like a witch's hat.
This monstrosity of a Stand ducks down to avoid a swing from Jefferson and rises up into an uppercut. This punch causes Jefferson to lift off the ground and begin floating away. Without any ground to run against, Jefferson begins drifting into the sky.
He switches to flight mode and flies down, elbowing Eleanor in the face. Her Stand grabs him by the arm and flips him over her head, slamming him into the pavement. The Stand kicks Jefferson, changing the direction of gravity knocking him away.
Jefferson crashes into an empty Ferris wheel car, slamming into its back wall hard enough to crack the glass wall surrounding the car. Eleanor walks up to the Ferris Wheel, backhanding the ride operators as they try to run away. She approaches Jefferson's car and her Stand taps on the glass. The glass wall of the car shatters. Shards of broken glass fall, not down, but sideways, stabbing into Jefferson.
Jefferson lies up against the back wall, covered in cuts and bruises, eyes closed. "That was disappointingly easy," she says. Eleanor snaps her fingers and Jefferson falls onto the floor of the car.
Eleanor's Stand lifts Jefferson by the straps of his overalls. The top half of Jefferson's body lifts up without any resistance, completely limp. "How unfortunate. I broke my toy before he could tell me where the arrow was."
Jefferson's arm moves like a hammer, slamming into Eleanor's chest and knocking her out of the car. Jefferson stands up and pulls a shard of glass from his shoulder. He switches to healing mode and his wounds begin to close up.
"I let you cut me to lure you into a false sense of security," Jefferson says, a confident smile on his face.
"You're tougher than you look. Good. I've waited far too long for a good fight and would hate for it to be over after a few weak punches."
Out of the corner of his eye, Jefferson notices something that he probably should have noticed earlier. Two dozen sets of eyes, all staring at him in terror, all belonging to people in other cars. When Eleanor knocked Jefferson from the sky, the wheel was taking its last set of customers before closing up for the night.
Eleanor also notices the Ferris wheel full of potential hostages. More importantly, she notices that Jefferson notices them. A cruel smile covers her face as she floats off the ground and over to the wheel.
"Don't!" Jefferson shouts as he runs out of the car.
He's too late. Eleanor's Stand taps the central axle of the Ferris Wheel, reversing the flow of gravity. For three seconds, there is silence. Then, the air is filled with a horrible tearing sound as the Ferris Wheel moves against its own support legs, ripping them in half as it floats away from the Earth.
Jefferson leaps into action, switching to strength mode and leaping at the Ferris Wheel. With one arm, he grabs the Ferris Wheel. With the other, he grabs the now broken support leg. Using all of his strength, he keeps the Ferris Wheel from floating away.
Eleanor floats over to him and crosses her arms. "My my my," she says. "Bold, but predictable."
Her Stand appears and punches Jefferson in the stomach. He gasps for air, but dares not release his grip on the two parts of the Ferris Wheel. His legs flip out towards the river as gravity shifts direction. The Stand strikes him in the side and his entire body flips around again, this time pointing perpendicular from the river. The Stand kicks him in the nose and his body twists once more.
"I wonder what's doing more damage, the force of my blows or the constant shifting of gravity? Either way, you'll be dead within the next minute."
Eleanor's Stand unleashes a flurry of blows, each hit digging into Jefferson's flesh. She cackles like a witch as Jefferson's body turns into a mass of bruised skin and broken bones. Jefferson doesn't have a plan. He could switch to invincibility and live, but then the people on the ride would die. But, if he dies, everyone dies. He struggles to come up with a decision and the constant blows to the head aren't helping.
"What's wrong, caped crusader? No more quips about not being most men?" Eleanor cackles.
Jefferson barely manages to open his swollen eyes. Then he sees something that gives him hope. A black and white owl flying towards the Ferris Wheel. The owl spins and a key shoots from its neck, striking the Ferris Wheel leg right below Jefferson.
Johana Joestar bursts out of the flaming portal and grabs Eleanor by the ankles. The two fall through the air. Moments before they hit the ground, Johana swings Eleanor, slamming her on the road below. The force of the impact is enough to make Eleanor bounce. Twisted Sister appears behind Johana and punches Eleanor, sending her flying away.
Eleanor crawls off her feet. "You think a punch like that is enough to-"
A portal appears beneath her feet and Eleanor falls through it. The portal closes up behind her.
Kan pops out of a portal right next to Johana. "I just sent her as high as I could. That should buy us some time," she says.
"Hope she's the evil one."
"She is," Kan says, glancing up at Jefferson. "Remember that superhero I was telling you about?"
"I apologize for ever doubting you," Johana says. "Hey, superhero! You okay up there?"
"Joestar," Jefferson mumbles.
"Yeah, that's me. I assume from context that you're the one who made that flaming star? How about coming down here and helping us finish this witch?"
"She controls gravity! Whatever she touches with her hands or feet falls away from her! If I let go of the Ferris Wheel, it'll float off into space and everyone will die!"
"Shit," Johana says.
"The London Eye in the clouds," Kan mumbles.
Johana and Kan turn away from the Ferris Wheel as they hear a loud boom. A crater has formed down the road, created by Eleanor as she crashed back to Earth. Eleanor crawls out of the crater, barely injured.
"Kan, use The Doors to evacuate the Eye," Johana commands.
"What about you?"
Twisted Sister reappears behind Johana and spins up its turbines. "I'm going to try and fight someone who controls a fundamental force of nature," Johana says, cracking her knuckles.
Eleanor and Johana stop five meters apart from one another. Eleanor's Stand appears beside her and stares down Twisted Sister. Twisted Sister growls. "Easy, girl," Johana says.
"I can tell just from looking at your Stand that you'll be a better opponent than that fool holding the Ferris wheel together," Eleanor says. "Have you had yours for very long?"
"Four days," Johana says. She thinks about what she just said. "Shit, has it only been four days? Feels like it's been, I don't know, two years at this point. I guess a lot's happened recently."
"I have had my Defying Gravity for three weeks now. At first, I was unable to control the intricacies of her powers. But now, I have mastered my own abilities."
"I had mine mastered after a day."
Twisted Sister flies forward and clashes with Defying Gravity, striking the Enemy Stand in the shoulder. Defying Gravity swings back, narrowly missing Johana's throat with its claws. Twisted Sister lands two more solid punches, staggering Eleanor.
"You're strong," Eleanor says, panting.
"Bit of an understatement," Johana quips as her Stand unleashes a flurry of punches, hitting both Eleanor and her Stand repeatedly with blows strong enough to shatter stone.
Eleanor spots an opening and makes her Stand throw a punch. Twisted Sister catches Defying Gravity by the wrist, stopping the punch before it can land and change Joahana's flow of gravity. Twisted Sister squeezes and Johana hears the distinct sound of cracking bones. Eleanor's expression doesn't change at all when her wrist is broken.
Defying Gravity kicks upward, aiming for Twisted Sister's chin. Twisted Sister releases the other Stand's wrist and catches this kick with both hands, one hand grabbing Defying Gravity's ankle and the other grabbing its knee.
"You aren't so tough," Johana says. "According to the superhero, you can change the vector of gravity through your extremities. But, it seems that I can completely avoid your ability by grabbing the middle sections of your limbs."
"Oh, don't worry, I still have a few tricks up my-"
Johana cuts her off by ripping her Stand's hands in different directions as hard as she could, so hard that Eleanor's leg is almost torn in two. Eleanor screams and falls over, clutching her leg in pain. Her Stand disappears.
Johana bends down to look at Eleanor. "My leg! You broke my leg!" Eleanor cries.
Suddenly, her face changes from a terrified face to a sadistic one. Eleanor rolls over and strikes Johana in the stomach. Johana tries to punch back, but her punch comes up short as she begins rising from the ground.
Eleanor crawls to her feet, standing up straight despite her broken leg. She laughs as Johana floats off the ground away from her, too far away to hit even with Twisted Destiny's range. Johana realizes the precarious situation she's in. Her Stand flies down to grab the ground, but it's too late.
Eleanor laughs as Johana drifts away from the ground. "So, when would you like me to drop you? Five thousand meters? Ten thousand meters? Or, perhaps, I can let you drift into space, where your eyeballs will explode!" she cackles.
Twisted Destiny kicks Johana, changing her trajectory. Johana floats close enough to a tree for her Stand to grab it. Twisted Destiny pulls Johana into the tree and Johana holds on tight.
Twisted Destiny rips off a branch and throws it at Eleanor, who barely manages to dodge out of the way. Eleanor runs up to the tree and punches it with her Stand. The tree burst out of the ground, its roots bringing up chunks of soil.
Johana jumps from the branches of the tree and grabs Eleanor by the shoulders. The two women begin to float off the ground as Johana drags Eleanor with her. "Let me go!" Eleanor says as her Stand swings at Johana.
Right before Defying Gravity's punch connects, a flaming portal appears between Johana and Eleanor. The Stand's fist slips through the portal and reappears in the air above the two women, striking Johana in the back. This punch reorients Johana's gravitational pull, sending her and Eleanor crashing back down.
Johana jumps back before Eleanor can hit her, landing right next to Kan. "Everything good on your end?" she asks, panting.
"The wheel is fully evacuated," Kan replies.
"And our new friend?"
"He, uh, fainted as soon as I told him everything was good. Don't worry, I had Dora move him away from all the fighting."
Johana glances over her shoulder at where the London Eye used to stand. Her eyes drift upwards, to spot the Ferris Wheel rising towards outer space. "That's a problem to deal with later," she mumbles.
Eleanor stares at the duo, cracking her knuckles. "So, two against one? I've dealt with worse before," she says.
"Hey Johana, can we try out that cool combo attack idea I told you about?" Kan asks.
"Oh, you have a team attack. How cute-"
Twisted Destiny's fist smashes into Eleanor's jaw before she can say anything else, despite the fact that Johana is out of range. Another punch hits Eleanor, this one coming from behind, and she realizes what is going on. The Doors Act II flies around Eleanor in a circle, creating portals for Twisted Destiny to punch through, allowing Johana to unleash blow after blow without approaching Eleanor.
Eleanor, bruised and bloody, falls to her knees. "Something's wrong," Johana says. "She isn't getting hurt."
"What do you mean? I'm pretty sure that last punch broke her nose."
"But that was the tenth punch to that spot. It took ten punches from my Stand to break her nose. I've hit her so many times she should be dead ten times over and she's still fighting. Something is dulling my blows."
Eleanor spits out a bloody tooth. "It'll take a lot more than a few-"
A punch hits her hard enough to twist her neck backwards, cutting her off. Eleanor grabs her head and straightens it out with her hands. "As I was saying, it'll take a lot more than a few punches to break me."
Defying Gravity appears and strikes The Doors in the chest. Kan gasps for air as the storm of punches subsides. Eleanor charges forward, eyes on Kan's throat. As Eleanor runs, her Stand repeatedly punches her in the back, causing her to move faster and faster.
Johana leaps at Eleanor and her Stand grabs Eleanor's left arm. Defying Gravity slashes Eleanor's arm off with its lance-like nose and Eleanor keeps moving forward.
Eleanor kicks Kan in the sternum with all the force she can muster. The sound of Kan's ribs cracking is loud. The sound of Kan's scream, or rather, her attempt to scream as her lungs are crushed, isn't loud.
Eleanor tumbles past Kan as Johana runs for her friend. "Kan! Are you breathing?" she shouts.
Kan wheezes for air. "I'm fine, just a bit winded," Kan whispers. "I'll be ready to get back to fighting in just a minute."
"Use your stand to teleport out of here. I'll end this."
"But-"
"Now," Johana says, more commanding than she's ever sounded before. "I've put you in enough danger already. Let me finish this."
Kan crawls into a portal as Eleanor jogs back to the fight. "So, back to being personal?" Eleanor asks.
"This is just a game to you, isn't it?" Johana asks.
"Uh, yeah? I thought I made that pretty clear."
"I'm not having much fun."
"This is one of those games that only one person enjoys. Like tic-tac-toe."
Johana scoffs at Eleanor's flippant attitude. "You seem pretty calm for someone who just cut off her own arm," Johana says.
Eleanor shrugs. "I've lost limbs before. It loses its shock value after the fifth one," she says.
"You know, out of everyone I've ever fought, I think I like you the least."
Johana's Stand flies forward and swings at Eleanor. Eleanor ducks out of the way. Defying Gravity, now down to a single arm like its master, slashes at Twisted Destiny, who catches its claws with ease.
Out of the corner of her eye, Johana sees something that she reacts to far too late. Eleanor's severed arm flying towards her, with the severed arm of Defying Gravity hovering translucent next to it. The severed fists uppercut Johana and she begins to fall away from the Earth once more.
The arm flies back Eleanor, who reataches it with ease. "Like I said, not that big of a deal," Eleanor says.
Twisted Destiny, still close to Eleanor, grabs her and drags her back to Johana. Johana grabs onto Eleanor, dragging her away with her. "You like games? Let's play the game where we both float into space and see who can hold her breath for longer," Johana says.
The two fall up together for twenty seconds before Eleanor speaks up. "You know, this is a bad idea," Eleanor says.
"Why's that?"
"Because I'm a hell of a lot more durable than you, and at any point, I can do this."
Eleanor releases her antigravity and the two of them slow their accent as the force of the newly inverted gravity battles against their momentum. Johana releases her grip on Eleanor and resummons her stand.
Twisted Destiny spins its wristbands, creating a blast of wind that hits Johana in the chest, knocking her backward. Johana reaches out and just barely manages to grab hold of one of the doors to the still-rising Ferris Wheel's cars.
She crawls onto the roof of the car as Eleanor floats over to the roof of the next car over. "I'll admit it, you've given me a much better fight than I ever could have expected," she says. "To repay you, I shall regale you with my glorious backstory."
"I genuinely do not care," Johana says.
"I was once a champion boxer. I moved from fight to fight, never losing. None could stand up to me."
"And then you lost and it started your path to villainy. I get it, you think you're deep and interesting, but I've heard it before."
"Quiet! One day, my opponent cheated. Hid horseshoes in her gloves and beat me to a bloody pulp. She broke my spine, leaving me a quadriplegic unable to ever fight again."
"You seem to be standing just fine," Johana says.
"Thanks to the grace of Woodstock," Eleanor says. "She stabbed me with that magic arrow, giving me the ability to manipulate gravity. Through careful moving of the gravitational pull surrounding my body, I was able to move once more."
"And that's why you're working for Woodstock?"
"She saw something in me that reminded me of herself. Disgusting, unforgivable weakness. So she returned my strength. And, in turn, I shall fight anyone she tells me to. Jefferson Starship stole something from my master, and I shall bring it back, even if I must kill a dozen people to do it."
"Cool story. If you were expecting it to make me emphasize with you, I'm sorry to say it didn't work," Johana says. "You hurt Kan, so I'm going to kick your ass."
Twisted Destiny punches the air in front of it, sending a spinning burst of air at Eleanor. Eleanor shrugs off the wind and leaps forward. She slams her Stand's fists down on Johana's car. Johana jumps out of the way, barely avoiding the strike.
The Ferris Wheel creaks and its wires snap as the force of gravity pulls it and the car in different directions. Johana jumps to another car as the car falls towards the earth, taking Eleanor with it.
Defying Gravity strikes the falling car, sending it rocketing up at the car Johana stands on. Johana jumps and grabs onto the wheel's outer rim right as the two cars collide. Eleanor floats up to Johana and smacks her in the leg with her Stand.
Johana loses her grip and falls diagonally, slamming into the axle of the Ferris Wheel. Twisted Destiny appears over Johana's shoulders and repeatedly strikes the axle, flooding it with rotational energy. The Ferris Wheel spins, faster than it has ever spun before.
Johana lets go of the axle and falls, landing on one of the spinning cars. The car carries her with it as it rotates around the axle. "Centrifical force," Johana says. "It doesn't matter what way you flip gravity, because I'll always stay on the edge of the wheel."
Eleanor drops down onto Johana's car and swings at her. Johana ducks out of the way and elbows her in the nose. "You know, for a boxer, you're pretty bad at punching," Johana says.
"I'm rusty!" Eleanor shouts as she lunges for Johana's chest.
Twisted Destiny appears and axe-kicks Eleanor into the roof of the car hard enough that Eleanor falls through. Johana jumps into the car after her.
As Eleanor crawls to her feet, Twisted Destiny punches into the ceiling of the car, tearing off two chunks of metal. It spins its turbines and the metal warps, transforming into a crude pair of gauntlets.
Defying Gravity appears in front of Eleanor, but before it can do anything, Twisted Destiny hammers its fist into the side of the witch Stand's skull. Eleanor staggers back, bleeding from the nose, one of her eyes rolled back into her head.
"Figured out your gimmick," Johana says. "You don't just use your gravity manipulation to hurt opponents and move your paralyzed limbs, you use it as a shield. Surrounding your body is a layer of antigravity that pushes against any blows that strike you, dulling their damage."
"My, aren't you a smart cookie?"
"Thing is, there's a limit to that armor. A strong enough blow, or dozens of normal blows, is still enough to break you down. All I have to do is keep hitting you until you can't fight back."
"That's a good plan, but there's a flaw in it," Eleanor says as her Stand punches a hole in the floor of the car. "I can fly away."
Eleanor jumps into the hole and the Ferris Wheel's centrifugal force spits her out, sending her through the air like a rocket. It takes Eleanor a moment to reorient herself and realize that she is at a higher latitude than the Ferris Wheel, a moment Johana uses to rip off one of the cables holding the cars in place.
"It's been real, but I prefer fights that don't end in my death," Eleanor says. She claps her hands, releasing the antigravity on the Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel begins to plummet back to earth as Johana whips the cable at Eleanor with her Stand.
The cable wraps around Eleanor's stomach. The Ferris Wheel, still rotating as it falls, drags Eleanor around. By the time Eleanor breaks free of the cable, the wheel has rotated 180 degrees, meaning that she is now below the plummeting Ferris Wheel.
Defying Gravity reaches out to try and catch the Ferris Wheel, but its weight is too much to bear. The wheel slams into Eleanor, crushing her as it falls. Eleanor, using her gravity manipulation to move bones now made of dust, attempts to crawl out from beneath the falling Ferris Wheel.
That's when she sees Johana, holding onto the cable, spun around by the rotational energy of the Ferris Wheel. The metal gauntlet on Twisted Destiny's fist spins like a drill as Johana slams into Eleanor. The rotational energy of Johana's swing, Twisted Destiny's own inhuman strength, the drill on its fist, Eleanor's injuries, all these things combine to make a punch that easily pierces through Eleanor's armor. Johana does not just kill Eleanor, she hits her so hard that only her limbs remain.
Kan stares at the sky, trying to catch a single glimpse of Johana. The Ferris Wheel has disappeared behind the dark clouds, taking her friend with it. Kan bites her fingernails as she waits for what went up to inevitably come down.
Kan's gaze is interrupted by the sound of skidding tires. Kelly's car slides to a stop in the middle of the path leading to where the wheel once stood. Kelly, Nero, and Julius all jump out of the car and stare at the sky.
"Looks like we missed the big fight," Kelly says.
"Those imbecile girls, running off alone. They have no right to endanger themselves like that," Julius says.
"To be fair, uncle, you and I are still injured from yesterday's battles," Nero says.
"I still have one hand," Julius snaps. "I am not useless."
"I did not say that."
Kan stumbles out of a portal, collapsing on the hood of Kelly's car. "Miss Nijimura!" Nero shouts as he runs over and places his hands on her back. Hamon energy flows through her body, healing her injuries.
"Thanks," Kan says.
"Where is Johana?"
Kan doesn't say anything. Instead, she just looks up at the sky. "Oh, that's probably bad," Kelly says.
Julius squints at the sky. His eyes go wide and he summons one of his beetles to his hand. "Get down!" he shouts.
Julius disappears into his beetle as Kelly dives into the back seat of his car. Nero grabs Kan and holds her tight, shielding her with his body.
When the Ferris Wheel returns to the ground, it is less like a crash and more like an explosion. Waves of earth burst out from the crater as dust fills the sky. When the dust clears, each of them looks at the twisted heap of metal sitting before them. The Ferris Wheel is almost unrecognizable, reduced to shattered glass and twisted metal. One particular piece of metal, one bent into a sharpened spear that points at the sky by the crash, catches their attention, primarily because of the body impaled on it.
Johana's hat flutters down, landing in front of the Ferris Wheel, as Nero runs to save her. He leaps up and lifts her impaled body from the spike, cradling her as he jumps back down. The golden glow of Hamon seeps from his hands into her bloody chest, but her wounds refuse to heal.
"We're cursed," Johana mumbles.
"Shhh, save your strength, JoJo," Nero whispers. "Everything is going to be okay."
Nero looks at Julius, who just shakes his head. Kelly just stares there, motionless. Kan summons her Stand and steps into a portal, disappearing.
"Us Joestars, we all die young. Jonathan, Jorge, my dad, Josephine, and now me," Johana says, barely able to speak.
Nero starts bawling. "I'm so sorry, JoJo," he says through the tears. "This is all my fault. You didn't want to be a part of this and I dragged you in. And now, because of me, you're-"
"Shhh, it's okay," Johana says.
A flaming portal appears next to Nero. Kan steps out, looking more serious than she has ever looked before. "Put her down," Kan says. "Now."
Nero carefully sets Johana's body on the ground. Kan reaches into her pocket, retrieving a stone mask that she places on Johana's face. "What are you doing?" Julius asks, horrified.
"Saving Johana's life," Kan says, biting her finger hard enough to make it bleed.
"You don't realize the gravity of the situation! You aren't saving Johana, you're-"
Julius is cut off when he falls through the portal that appears below him. Kan glares at Nero and Kelly. "Anyone else wanna try and stop me?" Kan asks. Nero slowly shakes his head. "Good."
Kan smears the blood on her lips like lipstick. She bends down and kisses the forehead of the stone mask. Spikes pop out of the mask, stabbing into Johana's skull, as violet light shines from the mask's eyes.
A moment later, a young woman with a star birthmark awakens.
