It's been a week since Kate disappeared on us. Derek and Peter had searched for the bitch. I was 35 weeks at this point. I was put on strict bed rest by McCall. I was sitting on the couch with Derek and Peter. Braedan was here along with Dean. Braden had her arms crossed.
" That table's Italian." Peter says as I saw Derek looking into my sunglasses. He looked worried.
" So are these boots." Braeden said as I got up. I went over to my safe. Even if she was covered with my services. I wanted to give some more as compensation. I used my Fuchsumhang to get past my warding on it. I don't trust Peter, so my safe is protected by it.
" Are we going to talk interior design and fashion, or are we going to talk numbers?" Braden says as I grabbed 20 grand cause why the fuck not.
" We're hiring you to find Kate, not assassinate the president." Peter scoffed as I heard Dean chuckle. I turned to a small bundle of cash holders. I put the cash into the bundle. I shut the safe and I felt the ward kick in place once again. I walked carefully over as I felt some discomfort fill me. I ignored it.
" I was hired by the Calaveras to find Kate. You're hiring me to find her first. Going against the Calaveras is what's going to cost you." She said as I saw Derek was about to say something.
" Here you go Braeden." I said with a smile. Peter perked up at this.
" You know you don't have to pay me, but they do." She said as I shook my head.
" I want Kate found more than they do. For my safety and my baby's." I said as she took it and looked at me with a concerned look. She got up and left with Dean. As they left Peter looked at Derek and I.
" Are you insane?" Peter yelled. I huffed as I sat on the stairs. Felling the discomfort grow.
" We don't have a choice. We spent a week looking for her, and came up with nothing." Derek said as he was leaning on the table near our bed.
" If we don't find out who told Kate about the vault, we don't get those bonds back. What do you think I'm gonna do then, huh? Get a job? My resume is slightly out of date! We got robbed, Derek. Robbed!" Peter said before Derek turned around and growled, fangs bared and eyes glowing gold.
" Oh... that's a new look for you." Peter said as Derek backed away.
" What happened to your eyes?" He asked as Derek had a distinct look on his face.
" I don't know... But I'm willing to pay to find out." Derek said before Peter looked at me then back at Derek and nodded. He left leaving Derek and me alone in the loft.
" I think our lives are going to get interesting again." I said as I got up from the stairs, the discomfort came back but stronger.
" With our child ready to come into the world, it will be interesting." Derek says as I just smiled. I got to sit on the couch, but I gasped halfway and almost fall to the ground. I felt a hand on my back.
" What's wrong?" Derek asked as the pain came back.
" I think it's time." I whispered as I felt a gush come out of me.
" Let me grab the bag and we can go." Derek said as I nodded. He quickly grabbed it and I gasped again. It felt like I was being torn apart.
" This baby finally wants to come out!" I groaned as Derek carefully picked me up. It wasn't too long before we were in the car. I gasped out as I felt the pressure grow.
" Please tell me we are close to hospital." I whimpered as I felt Derek taking some of my pain.
" Almost there." Derek replied as I soon felt the pressure that made me cry out. I felt as if claws were tearing me apart.
" Its ok." Derek said with worry in his voice. We had arrived. As we stopped, I let out a cry that forced my eyes to glow.
It hurts so much D. I cried out as I saw Derek getting out of the car and rushing to my side. I forced my eyes to stay human. I felt pressure that just kept going. He opened my door and carefully got me into his arms. My legs over one arm and my back against another. He kicks the door and rushes us inside.
" What's going on?" A nurse calls out as I see doctors coming with a gurney. I whimpered as I was set on it.
" My girlfriend, I think she's in labor." Derek's voice was clear and adamant.
" We'll take care of her." Melissa's voice came into my ears as I lifted my head, she smiled and I felt calm. I was wheeled into a room and changed into a gown. I was feeling the pressure every now and again. I had this band around my stomach, checking my contractions.
" You're about 5 centimeters along. Halfway to go, but I'm not sure if an epidural will help." Mama McCall said as I chuckled.
" Where's Derek?" I asked as she smiled.
" He's doing some calls, but he'll be here in just.." She started, but Derek came in and shot to my side.
" How are you doing?" He asked as I smiled.
" I'm ok." I replied as he smiled and kissed my hand.
" I'm not going to let anything hurt you again." He said as I smiled. It felt like hours before I had to start pushing. Derek holding one of my legs up as nurses and doctors were guiding me through.
" Alright Lex, push." A voice told me, it was the pressure of pushing and stopping.
" It hurts!" I cried out, can see Derek taking my pain. Thank god for the long sleeves on him!
" I'm never letting you between my legs again!" I cried out in pain and agony as I gripped Derek's hand.
" You'll be alright baby." Derek whispered as I stared at him.
" I'm sorry for my moody ass." I whimpered as tears began falling out of my eyes.
" Another big push Ms. Vulpe." The doctor said as I took a deep breath and began pushing again. I felt like I was splitting apart. I know that it'll all for my baby. I can hear my inner fox spirit roaring out in agony alongside my own human side.
" The head is out!" A nurse says as I nodded. I felt myself stretching, has to be the shoulders. My body crying out in pain as my healing factor was trying to take away everything, but I kept it down. I had to stay human. I can do this. I have to do this.
" One last push." A doctor says I took a deep breath and gave it my all. It wasn't long before a shrill cry could be heard in the room. It was as if the earth-shattering cry had silenced everything as I felt my eyes change. Derek's eyes flashed gold as I felt my eyes change to human.
" It's a girl!" The doctor said as I felt a smile on my face. I felt Derek kissing my lips as I felt my baby girl on my chest, crying out to the world of her existence. The doctors soon had her cleaned up and once again I had her. She weighed 6 pounds and 6 ounces.
" She's beautiful." Derek whispered as I was smiling.
" She's ours." I said as I was soon helped with breastfeeding her. She had Derek's black hair and my nose. It wasn't long before she unlatched and fell asleep against my warm body.
" Thank goodness she was born safe and sound." Derek said as I smiled. I could feel myself healing.
" I want her to grow up healthy, without facing any hardships." I whispered as my baby girl huffed and let a snooze come out.
" Let's watch over her until she does." Derek whispered as I just looked at my baby girl. She was sound asleep and I couldn't help but cry. I carried her for almost nine months.
" She has your hair." I whispered as Derek held my hand.
" She has your nose." He whispered as I sat up a bit. Our daughter getting comfy as I could help but smiled.
" I know what I want to name her." I said as I made my eyes change. I looked over at the birth certificate.
" Talia Kristy Hale " I told him, he looked surprised at my words.
" Talia Kristy?" He asked as I smiled.
" I want to tell stories about her grandmother, both of them. Tell her how she's named after someone who gave me the greatest man that I have loved and will love. How even if I never met my own mother that her spirit runs through me." I said as Derek let a tear shed from his eye. He gave me a long kiss. I watched as he wrote the name down. He pulled something from his pocket. A box.
" Lex, everything that we have been through has changed me. Loving you, being with you, creating our little girl. I know that you and I can get through anything as long as we have each other. So Alexandra Vulpe, will you do me the honor and become my wife?" He asked as I saw the ring. The stone and everything was perfect. I looked at him and nodded.
" Yes." I say as he smiled and kissed me. I felt him slide the ring on my finger. I couldn't help but smile.
" Is she a wolf or a fox?" Derek asked as I chuckled.
" It's too early to tell my love." I said as he kept eying her.
" Do you want to hold her?" I asked him. He looked wided eyed as he sat up. I could tell he wanted to, but it looked like he was holding back.
" She won't bite you." I said as he nodded. I saw and heard the gulp as I carefully gave our child to him. Talia shifted around as Derek finally got situated with our baby. I saw the tears going down his cheeks.
" Hey baby girl. I'm your daddy." He whispered to her, I couldn't help but smile. I let out a yawn, I didn't realize how tired I was.
" You can rest babe, I got our little lamb." Derek whispered as I smiled. I let my eyes shut and fell into a state of sleep.
Screams! Gunshots! Roars! All I could hear. I felt myself shift as I heard a slow breath come out of a body leaning against a rockwall. I felt all control slip as I was on all fours, my eyes full of anger and insanity. A cackle as I felt bones breaking and shifting.
I woke up to see my baby in the cradle that the hospital had given us. Derek was asleep in the chair next to my bed. As I let out a grunt, Derek awoke and quickly looked over me.
" I'm alright." I said as he smiled, taking the hand with the freshly placed ring and pressing a kiss there. Little did I know, things were about to change.
" You look like you were having some cold sweats in your sleep." Derek said as I felt my forehead.
" Maybe a vision, I'm not sure." I said as I see Talia is swaddled and safe.
" Your dreams can be linked to your visions. What were they about?" He asked as I tried remembering, it was a slight blur.
" I remember gunfire, low breathing and anger. The anger was almost as thick as blood." I said as I carefully sat up, making sure I was healed.
" Do you know where from? The anger?" He asked as I shook my head.
" I thought it was coming from me, but it could be the empath part of me that fed from something else." I say as I hear Talia cry out, Derek shoots up and carefully picks her up.
" Someone needs changed." Derek said as I smirked, I watched him change our daughter before sitting down in his chair, he slowly began rocking her. It wasn't long before she was asleep. I just smiled and hoped the feeling would continue. This was my family and I will protect this with everything I am.
