Chapter 51 - Posh Football with Presidents
Michelle had a limo sent for them that afternoon. The Doctor wore his jeans and a red t-shirt with a black oxford. Rose wore her new red dress he had bought her a the day before. Genie and Tony both had on red shirts to support their favorite team. Genie had her Goofy doll in her arms. Jack, Jake, Shakes, Sam, Lewis all joined them in the stretch limo.
As soon as they got in, Jack laughed. "Wow. This is posh. Going to a football game in a limo."
Genie was sitting in the Doctor's lap. "Daddy says it's because Rose is posh."
Jack laughed. "Your Rose, is not posh. Not at all."
Rose looked at the Doctor and smiled. "That's right, Genie. I think it's your Daddy who's posh!"
He looked at her and said, "Phhht! As if! The Doctor. Posh!"
Rose leaned over and kissed him quickly on the lips.
Jack rolled his eyes. "I'll never get used to seeing that."
Jake patted him on the back. "Oh, it's tame today. They have been way worse."
Tony agreed as he sat next to the Doctor. "Yeah. They are gross."
They all laughed. The Doctor blushed and ran his hand through his hair.
They got to the stadium and were escorted to one of the upper floors. They all got off the lift and walked down the hallway. It was very quiet, but they could hear the roar of the crowd outside. Tony was so excited that he was running around the crowd. Jack grabbed him and carried him under his arm. It caused the very excited Tony to laugh.
The usher lead them into a large room. The entire front of the room was just windows that looked out over the pitch. There were six large sofas that sat tiered in two rows. A bar sat at the back of the room, and tellies with the game on the screen.
Tony clapped. "Oh this is brilliant! We are dead center of the field!"
The Doctor turned and informed the usher that he was expecting Michelle and her lot as well as President Harriet Jones.
Jack looked surprised. "We are watching football with the President? Really?"
Genie shrugged her shoulders. "Ah, it's not a big deal. It's just Nanna Jones."
The Doctor laughed, "Nanna Jones. That still makes me laugh." He sat down next to Genie. "Tell me my Sara Gene! Have you ever watched a football game?"
She was mesmerized by the entire enviroment she found herself in. "Daddy. Is this how people watch football?"
He pulled her into his lap and kissed her forehead. "Well, some people do. Are you alright?"
Jack sat down next to them. "I've never watched football like this either, Genie. I imagine it will be fun though! Everyone out there is hot and sweaty. We're all cool and comfortable in here. Well, except for Tony. I think he's going to pass out soon from the excitement. He's giving me a headache."
The Doctor laughed.
Genie smiled, "Yeah, he loves football. He's the coach of Daddy's team."
Tony came over and clapped his hands together. "Team! I want you to pay attention to this lot. You might learn something we can use against those Secret Service guys!"
"Pint sized coach, huh?" Jack laughed.
The Doctor nodded, "Oh, he takes it very seriously, too. You know who we need here? And I wonder if he's still awake."
The Doctor took out his phone and texted someone. Rose walked over and sat next to the Doctor and Genie. She had brought him a glass of wine. "Who are you texting to this party?"
He put his arm around her as he leaned back on the sofa and took the wine. "Howie Shepherd. I'd like him to meet Jack."
Rose started to laugh. "Oh god! Do you think Jack is ready for Howie?"
The Doctor drank his entire glass of wine and sat it on the table. "Are any of us ready for Howie?"
Jack looked suspicious. "Who is Howie?"
Jake came and sat down on the arm of the sofa next to Jack. "You invited Howie? Oh, that would be brilliant tonight!"
Michelle walked in with her six sons. The Doctor clapped and stood up holding Genie. He introduced everyone and told them to make themselves at home. The twin five year olds ran up to Tony and started talking football. Michelle laughed. "Sam and Riley already found the football coach. I got your kits in today! When are you playing the Secret Service?"
The Doctor shrugged his shoulders. "I honestly don't know."
Just then, Harriet walked in. The Doctor greeted her by kissing her cheek. "May I introduce my secretary and personal assistant to you? This is Michelle and her six boys."
Harriet smiled and introduced herself. "President Harriet Jones of the People's Republic of Great Britain."
"Yes, I know who you are. Wow! I can't believe I'm meeting you. Thank you for allowing us to join you!" Michelle said as she shook her hand.
Logan shook her hand next and introduced himself. "Ma'am. Doctor Smith has asked me to join him for the football match at the Royal Gardens. These are my kid brothers. Peter, Ben, Jim and the twins with Tony over there are Sam and Riley."
Harriet smiled. "Such a polite young man, Michelle. Wow! Well done with him!"
Michelle smiled. "Thank you, ma'am."
Harriet turned and asked the Doctor. "When are we playing the Secret Service again? Caroline will be here tomorrow. Would you like to do it then?"
The Doctor rubbed his head. "Maybe. Or Monday. I have no idea. What ever works better for everyone's schedule. Oh! I forgot. Logan is playing because Jake is still injuried. We probably need to do it tomorrow afternoon because Logan has school, Monday. Is that right?"
Logan shrugged his shoulders. "Don't make any special allowances for me. I'll be there when I'm needed."
Jack laughed. "Hired a professional, huh?"
Harriet and the Doctor laughed.
The Doctor turned and said, "I want you to meet someone else, Harriet. Excuse us, Michelle."
The Doctor brought Harriet over to the sofa and introduced her to Jack. "Oh, a Captain!" she exclaimed as Jack kissed her hand.
"Oh, and an American! Has Howie met him, yet?" Harriet asked.
Jack smiled. "The Doc texted him and asked him to join us. I'm anxious to meet him."
Harriet sat down next to Rose on the sofa and kissed her cheek. Genie climbed on Harriet's lap.
A few minutes later, the entire room got quiet at the sound of Howie yelling, "Woo! Doggy! We're going to watch a soccer match here now!"
Jack leaned over and whispered to the Doctor. "Who the fuck is that? Howie I presume?"
The Doctor looked back at Michelle. "Ummm... I might need to apologize in advance for exposing your children to this man."
Michelle laughed, "It's nothing they haven't heard before, I'm sure."
The Doctor walked over and hugged his friend, Howie. "Howie. I'd like to introduce you to my old friend, Captain Jack Harkness."
"Well! That don't beat all! Any friend of the Doc's is a friend of mine! This man is my wheel horse! Pete's too for that matter. You got any white eye around here?" Howie asked.
Jack was looking confused. "What? What is he saying?"
The Doctor laughed. "I can understand you tonight, Howie! I must be getting to know you better!"
Howie tossed his arms up. "Well, hell! It had to happen at some point! Pete can't always be a go between. When do they get this whapping shin-dig started?"
Jack was smiling. It was clear he was confused. The Doctor laughed said, "He is friendly. Don't worry, mate."
Harriet came over and hugged Howie. "Damn good to see you, Harriet! Caroline was asleep and told me to tell you she's looking forward to seeing you tomorrow."
Howie patted the Doctor's back. "My Jacob will be here as well! I don't know what happened at Disney, but he's been a completely different buck since. He is all hell fired about you, Doc!"
The Doctor rubbed his hand through his hair. "We rode an intense ride together. Nothing like a near death experience to build a relationship! Send him on. I can't wait to see him!"
Rose came over and hugged Howie. "Are you still not sleeping? You sound like him." she pointed at the Doctor.
"Ah! We'll just be white eyed together then. This cross-grained mess has me all in a state. The small fries don't know about Pete, do they?" Howie asked.
The Doctor answered to help Jack understand, "No, the children don't know. We decided not to tell them. We'll just be tired together, Howie. It's not a big deal. This mess will get sorted."
Jack patted the Doctor on the back. "Thanks. That helps."
Howie looked surprised. "The tarnation! This man is an American! I thought he was from the old country!"
Jack smiled and pointed at Howie. "Now that, I understood."
An usher came in and asked for Harriet Jones. She waved her hand and he walked over to her. "Ma'am, they are ready for you."
Harriet shook her head. "No, I'm curious if I can let someone else do it. My heals will dig into the pitch."
The usher smiled. "Certainly, ma'am. Who would you like to send?"
Harriet called for Tony. He ran up to her. "Yes, Nanna Jones!"
She knelt down and whispered something in his ear. His eyes got huge. 'Oh! YES!" He danced around.
She stood up and pointed at the Doctor. "But, I'd like you to take the Doctor, too." She said.
Tony threw his hands up. "Of course I'll do that! He's my brother! He'll love this!"
The Doctor looked surprised, "What would I love? What are you up to?"
Harriet held her hand up, "Nope! Don't tell him, Tony. He's always surprising all of us. Let us surprise him for a change."
Rose was laughing.
'Do you know what she's on about?' the Doctor asked Rose.
'Oh, I have a very good idea.' she smiled.
'Tell me then, woman! What the hell?' he demanded.
'Oh no way! She's got you good on this one! I'm popping back to get Mum!' Rose told him.
The Doctor put his hands on his hips. "Should I be worried?"
Harriet shook her head. "Not at all. You'll thank me later. Take four of your bodyguards and get going. We'll see you in a minute."
"Alright. I trust you, Harriet. Come on, Comrade! We're in this together. Poltoius, John, Sam and Lewis. Let's go! Shakes, keep an eye on things."
"All is under control, Doctor." Shakes told him.
As soon as they walked into the hallway, Tony grabbed the Doctor's hand. "You are going to love this, brother! Nanna Jones is amazing!"
